It is my first time visiting this place and my experience was fantastic. Great atmosphere and very specious dining room. The host welcomed me with a nice smile and immediatley sat me near the bar. Few minutes later , the bartender a charmant young lady came to me and took my order .i was looking for to get a regular burger but as i asked her what was her favorite burger in the menu she recommanded me to try the FREAK burger. Its was so delicious espacially , i like the bread used for its cooking . In addiction , the ambiance was very relaxing with all the Tvs on with great sports channels. It was not too full for a friday afternoon . The bartender and also the server who brought over my food were very professional and nice. They have been checking on me during my visit. A group of 37 of us popped into this place for lunch. BTW--weekday, not a game day. Smoke Daddy knew ahead of time that there would be 30-40 of us, most needing separate checks and we were on a tight timeline. Notta problem! If you sit upstairs on the patio they have an awesome view of Wrigley. We came here before the game to waste some time and get good food. Both items were accomplished. The chicken wings were WHOLE wings as pictured. They had an interesting Smokey/blackened taste and came with a tangy dressing. The pulled pork was a little dry but not bad. We came here 2 times we are visiting from LA to watch the dodger game. food was great service was amazing but there was just a couple of things that bothered me about the manager an the guys working at the bar first day we came the bartender didn't even have a pen he was super busy an manager didn't even help he was just walking around an standing behind the employees the first time we didn't think anything of it but today was our second time an same thing out bartender was TAILOR she was amazing I have a company an I can say that I would hire her all day she was all over the place helping an serving bartending taking bills running the register an serving plates tables outside the bar an with a great attitude friendly I was impressed. They just need a better manager they need a manager that could help them not to stand behind them an just looking at them running around I manage a company of 17 employees an you need to assist your team when needed. I thought the BBQ was fantastic. I got the Chicago ribs and they were meaty and fall off the bone. The fries and the Mac + cheese were spot on. The different sauces were good, they didn't blow me away, but they were still tasty. The Star was the ribs. They were just delicious. Obviously seeing Wrigley across the street is a huge plus. The location of the place is great, right across from the park at Wrigley and in Hotel Zachary. The BBQ is average at best, nothing spectacular. The brisket was slightly dried out but the nachos were good. The nachos come in a huge portion for only $12, easily feeds 2 so that's a plus. The service was alright, our waitress was nice and cracked a few jokes but the hostess up front acted like she hated the world. We asked for a 4 person table instead of sitting at the long tables and it was as if she got offended. Having been raised from Texas, I entered this place with low expectations for barbecue. I'm surprised to say that it was actually really good, but I'll get to that. I hit the restroom at first, and I'm happy to report that all of the motion sensors (toilet, soap, sink, and dryer) all functioned flawlessly. It was a bit of a trek to the bathrooms themselves, but they were nice and very clean. There was live music on the stage, which is always fun, but it limited interaction within the party. In fact, it disabled nearly any conversation with my friends. It was just difficult to hear each other speak, so we didn't. The service was okay, but I didn't get a very welcoming vibe from the immediate desk, though we were seated right away. On to the food. One friend and I got the Daddy-O Sandwich, but removed the onion rings from the sandwich, and we are so glad we did. The sweet potato fries I got on the side were addicting. Of the three sauces on the table, I was a huge fan of the Sweet and Smokey BBQ. Our whole group was passing it around constantly! Another person in my party got the BBQ wings, which were HUGE, but "really well cooked." She had to depend on the sauce for the flavor though. Apparently the Cheeseburger was really good too, but "the bottom bun was super greasy, and it was difficult to eat." Finally, two friends ordered the Pulled Pork, and they agreed that the sauce was definitely needed. I'm telling you my table could not get enough of that Sweet & Smokey. One said he would have liked the pork to be more pulled and less "chunky." All in all, we had a great dinner and a fun time. We left the place feeling very full. The Mac and cheese is amazing. The macaroni is al dente and the cheese sauce has a hint of pimento and is soooo creamy. The service was also great. Then I moved a chair to the window and sat and in moments a waitress told me the chairs were for the tables only and I needed to put it back. Fair enough. I put the chair back and continued wait. The burger and the mac-n-cheese are about 7 out of 10. Better than any fast food or local tavern. Chicago has some great burgers in places. In another city these burgers might be 9 or 10 but we are a tough town. The waitress, Moira, was very good. She was friendly and put up with my inane questions with good humor. They have a lot of TV s as a tavern across from the ball park should. If you are in the mood for bbq and happen to be standing right in front of smoke daddy's. I would suggest it. If you have the ability to walk 20 min. Maybe even 5 min. Or take a drive. I would suggest doing so. Maybe drive to the one in wicker park.. if you are a fan of hush puppy's. They offer them as a appetizer!! I would pass. You get 5 Of them for 9 bucks. They were bland. The waiter said they were junk when I tried to order them. Should have listened to him, but I figured what would he know after forgetting I ordered a drink and his snarky ness. Onto the ribs. They come with sauce on them . You can not get them with ought Apparently. They were not warm and the fries were not warm. A full rack I think cost me 22 bucks.
