So I've driven past this place a million times and always said one day I'm gonna eat there. Today was that day. From the moment we walked in everything was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is very low key. Very intimate. Great date spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You don't have to go downtown for a great steak. This place has it. The servers were very tentative to us. The steaks we had were amazing. They also came with a tostada that was amazing as well. The steaks came in a plate with 3 different dipping sauces that were each phenomenal. I will definitely come back there are other items on the menu that I must try.

One of the best steakhouses in Chicago and such a hidden gem in Bucktown. This place is BYOB and serves amazing ribeye and New York strip steaks. The steaks come with veggies and sauces. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes and tostadas. Everything was amazing!! The service was amazing as well. Will definitely return!

8 ounce fillet comes with vegetables, mashed potatoes on the side. We also had a small side salad.

We finally got to try S&T steakhouse, and we were not disappointed. We went there on a Tuesday evening, so it was relatively quiet. We brought our own bottle of wine, which makes things so much more affordable. The food was so good! We shared a fillet that came with perfectly sautéed vegetables. Love the sauces on the side. Mashed potatoes were perfect. The biggest pleasant surprise was the tostadas as an appetizer. We had two vegetable tostadas and it was so fresh. I would come back just for those. The service was so warm and friendly. They were genuinely happy we were there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a bright, warm and welcoming atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will definitely return.

Great spot! The food is amazing--ribeye, shrimp tacos, veggie tostadas, and pasta, all delicious. The owner is super friendly and welcoming. Plus, it's BYOB which makes it even better. Definitely worth it!

For some reason, I was in my feels this day and needed a break. So to practice self-care, I took myself on a date. I don't live too far from S & T, so I decided to check it out myself. This place is so cute and petite, with an unmistakable modern Interior with a hint Mexican inspired decor. The restaurant was opening up, so I had no issue with seating. The wait staff was terrific and super enthusiastic and kind. I was immediately greeted with some bread and a chicken tostada. The tostada was sweet and spicy, which I thought was exciting but grew on me. My only setback was the temperature of the sauce. I can tell it was maybe refrigerated, which made the tostada somewhat cold on the first few bites, but the chicken was warm, so it balanced itself out. For the main course, I got the rib-eyed steak with a baked potato side of Asparagus and broccoli. The steak was cooked to perfection. Very Juicy and tender, I asked for A1 sauce but barely used it. I also loved the veggies and the seasoning. I think the baked potatoes could have been cooked a bit longer, but other than that, it was all great, and I adored the plating. Overall it was a great experience, and I hope more people find this gem of a restaurant. I will note this place is BYOB, so take full advantage on your next date. 4 1/2 out of 5

Terrific quality steaks. Had ribeye and NY strip medium and both were tender and flavorful. High end steakhouse food without the stuffy scene. This is a 20 seater restaurant with only one waitress (Maria) who was quick attentive and friendly. Reservations suggested. It's also BYOB

One of the best steaks I've ever had. Perfectly cooked through and through at med rare. Soup was also delicious. Bonus tostada was a great side! Service was great. BYOB worked out amazing. 10/10 would recommend. Not even mad there was no tiramasu

The coziest and most hospitable steakhouse I've ever been to. The staff is super sweet and attentive the food was amazing and their tostadas are the sweetest touch. Everyone loved their dishes and its also byob!

Joe's Seafood in Chicago has an unusual amount of personal history for me. It opened as a…read morepartnership between Miami Beach's iconic Joe's Stone Crab and Lettuce Entertain You, bringing South Florida to Grand and Rush. I first went when it was still a huge, buzzy Chicago spot, and one of my most memorable dinners came after my high school graduation in 2003. I even got a speeding ticket on Lake Shore Drive with my grandmother in the back seat on the way to dinner, which still makes me laugh. Chicago was an especially fun place for Joe's to arrive. Open outcry trading was still a force, and the wealth creation around it was wild: people who had dropped out of high school could become millionaires in their twenties, while math PhDs from the University of Chicago could make fortunes in the same ecosystem. It was a golden era for hustle culture, when commerce idolized Tony Montana in a way that today is more likely to idolize Jamie Dimon or David Solomon. Death Row and Bad Boy ruled the airwaves, while Michael, Shaq, Kobe, and Allen Iverson defined the NBA. Basketball was so dominant in Chicago culture during my coming of age that I still map other things, including restaurants, to NBA teams. Joe's felt like the Miami Heat coming to Chicago in much the same way Smith & Wollensky represented the New York Knicks: each brought a recognizable piece of its hometown culture into another major city. Joe's brought real South Florida sizzle to Chicago, and it landed at exactly the right moment. Going there felt like an occasion. Florida took longer for me to understand in full. My family has roots in the state going back decades, farther north along the Atlantic coast, and I didn't visit Miami until March 2007, when my sister started graduate school in Coral Gables. That trip began my love affair with Miami and helped me understand why the original Joe's was such an institution. A close family friend's father spent time around Miami in the 1960s and 1970s. He knew local fishermen who caught stone crabs, which gave me an appreciation for the older South Florida culture around the food, separate from Joe's own history. Another Joe's memory captures an entirely different moment. Looking through my OpenTable history, my July 31, 2008 reservation at Joe's in Chicago is the earliest reservation I can find at a restaurant that is still open today. I was 23, working at UBS, preparing to move to New York while the firm was already on fire from its mortgage losses, and Lehman would file for bankruptcy just weeks later. I was broke but wildly aspirational, dreaming about dinners at Balthazar, begging my way past the doors at Cain and Tenjune, hoping to drink for free, and trying to meet women comically far out of my league. Through all of those memories, the restaurant itself has been remarkably consistent. The stone crab claws are incredible, the seafood is excellent, and Joe's holds its own among Chicago's serious steakhouses. The room has traditionally felt a little more formal than Miami, with bow ties, polished service, and a darker old-school steakhouse rhythm, while still being genuinely welcoming. Finish with the key lime pie. Years later, my wife and I held our wedding reception at RPM Seafood, another Lettuce restaurant, then ate at the original Joe's during our honeymoon in Miami during COVID days later, which felt like a fitting circle back. In sheer range of venues, repeatability of quality and atmosphere, and consistency of hits, Lettuce is the gold standard in Chicago, with some of that same reach in Vegas and DC. I've been extraordinarily privileged in my exposure to hospitality, and I still repeatedly admire Rich Melman's model, taste, and execution, now carried forward by the next generation of the family. Joe's is a prime example: world-class, durable, unmistakably Chicago, and absolutely somewhere I want to return next time I'm in town with some dough to spend. While Joe's may not be French, this place still earns my highest marks: très bien!

The baked potatoes and other sides were still delicious but the steaks came out dry and overcooked. The quality was very much lacking. We'll likely return ... hopefully this was just a one time problem?

We visited for the very first time recently, and the experience was so outstanding that we couldn't even resist--we went right back the very next day! The seafood here is top-tier, but the oyster program is in a league of its own. Hands down, these were the freshest, cleanest oysters we've ever tasted. We worked our way through a fantastic selection, including: Beausoleil: Exceptionally clean, crisp, and delicate with a smooth brine finish. Eld Inlet: Sweet, plump, and full-flavored. Wellfleet: A classic East Coast staple with that perfect firm texture and clean, salty bite. Summer Blues: Briny, refreshing, and insanely fresh. As incredible as the raw bar was, what truly elevated Shaw's from a great meal to an unforgettable experience was the stellar service. We had the pleasure of sitting with Josh K. behind the bar, and his 25 years of experience at Shaw's shine through in every single interaction. He delivers proper, polished, old-school hospitality with a warm, personal touch that is increasingly rare to find. On top of his elite service, Josh is a true master of his craft when it comes to handmade libations. His Gimlet was absolute perfection--perfectly balanced, ice-cold, crisp, and crafted with first-class precision. Whether you're a local or visiting Chicago, Shaw's Crab House is an absolute must. Make sure to pull up a seat at the bar, order a round of oysters, and ask for Josh--you'll see exactly why one visit just isn't enough!

First, the service itself was good, we were seated right away with no reservations, but upon entering the restaurant has a very strong almost mildew like smell. Our server let us know right away that they were short staffed in the kitchen and therefore orders were taking 45 minutes to an hour to come out. Not a problem, we understand and ordered some apps to get us by. The food is why I'm giving it 3 starts. We ordered the calamari, which was soooo overcooked it was tough and chewy, I couldn't even swallow it. We ordered the cajun fries too and they were okay. My partner and I both ordered king crab legs with the house cajun sauce. Let me just say the sauce itself was amazing! Super delicious and tasty, not too salty, very flavorful. But both of our king crab legs were way overcooked, to the point where the meat seemed shrunk, it was very firm and rubbery/gummy. Unfortunately for paying such a high price for 1lb, this was extremely disappointing. Being that 3 seperate dishes were overcooked, I personally wouldn't return for this reason alone. Very disappointed but I feel like this issue can easily be fixed! Hoping to return one day because the flavors were definitely there, but unfortunately not anytime soon.
