First, they were out of half the items I wanted and the beer lists were way outdated. We got our food super fast, but that's because it was cold. Tried to eat dinner this past Saturday. There was a concert going on at Wrigley, so the place was packed and there were bouncers at the door checking IDs. I have a TN ID, and after both bouncers spent five minutes discussing my ID, they decided it wasn't real and wouldn't give me a drinking stamp. I am 25 and have never had my very real ID refused! Since I couldn't enjoy a beer with my meal, I decided not to eat there. An ID scanner or bouncers with any sense would fix this problem! Very disappointed I couldn't try this place. read more

Visiting from out of town. Atmosphere and location are great. Sitting upstairs on the balcony people watching was fun! I was really looking forward to the food because everything looked and smelled delicious but we were pretty underwhelmed. There wasn't anything wrong with it, it was just ok. And I thought it was odd that they have a full bar but don't have bottles of wine? The only wine you can get is from a can. It wasn't terrible but not great either. Service was good but I was surprised they don't give you wet naps especially when you get ribs. We didn't ask for them (just washed our hands in the restroom) but I would think they would just put them out since there is no clean way to eat ribs. We went to Smoke Daddy near its inception in Wrigleyville and frankly had a negative experience (primarily due to service and supply hiccups). I just left and could not have had a more positive experience. The ribs were immaculate, the burnt ends supreme. The service is quick, friendly, and accommodating, and the atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming. In particular, I highly recommend the burnt ends if available, and I would take a bath in the macaroni & cheese if that was an option (crossing my fingers for future visits). My only suggestion is that they develop some sort of hot sauce - the BBQ sauces were very savory and delicious, but there might be some, like me, that crave some heat with their brisket. Best option in Wrigleyville if you want a quick, delicious bite. read more

We arrived at 10:30 for a afternoon game. Our group included 11 people. We spent around $600 at that point when a waitress walked up a placed a reserved plate on the table after we've been there for an hour and a half. Then she said move this table is taken. I walked over to speak to management and the "manager" came over to apologize and asked if I would like them to move the two older women who they sat at our table. I said do you really think that's a good idea? He then asked if we wanted appetizers or a round of drinks on the house. I said sure, 20 minutes went by and he never came back to see us. I later asked where the managers at and another manager ( Danny) shows up and said he wouldn't do anything other than discount our bill that was already paid for. Terrible customer service and an embarrassing experience for our business outing. I'll never go back! First and last time here! Extremely unprofessional! I would give this 4 stars, but the service was just terrible. They werent even that busy, I could understand if they were. But they were not. We sat for about ten to fifteen minutes before cups of water were brought over. I had to ask the guy if he could send us a waitress. If I wouldnt have asked, we would sat there even longer. This stop along my stops in Chicago wasn't the greatest unfortunately. The food was underwhelming at best. Food came out luke warm and was very bland. I ordered the brisket and burnt ends as my meat with the corn bread and beans on the side. The beans I couldn't even eat with the flavor lacking dramatically. First off, I love the restaurant group who owns this, I frequent almost one of their places a week. Love the other location of Smoke Daddy, staff in Wrigley didn't seem to know what was going on. Went for brunch, wasn't greeted for 15 minutes and that was after we got up and asked for a server to come over. Even then, we got up a 2nd time to find someone because after we asked no one came. Had 3 people end up coming over, the first couldn't care less and didn't even say they were sorry for the confusion on their end. We visited on a weekend game day. Service was great. We had the taste of daddy platter which included baby back ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Ribs were "bite off the bone" which I like way more than "fall off the bone". Good sauce on them, very tender. Pulled pork was good but not very smoky, also very tender. The brisket was tough. It was sliced so thin the moisture was gone. Had 2 sides, Mac and cheese and beans. Both were worth eating but the baked beans had big chunks of pork in them,maybe too big. This is worth the read - We went here yesterday and were extremely disappointed with the way that the reservations at this restaurant was handled. We specifically made two reservations for the terrace on their website and we're told that you cannot reserve outdoor versus indoor spots so the only place for the 12 of us at noon on a Saturday was indoors - somewhere we were uncomfortable being. My biggest question is: why would they even allow the option to choose a place to sit (i.e. the terrace) when making a reservation if they won't guarantee that you can sit there? Upon arriving, they told me it's first come first serve for the terrace - so why would you let me choose terrace as the spot to sit when making a reservation? This makes no sense. It doesn't say this anywhere on the website at all. I even called ahead and confirmed our tables were on the terrace! Yet, on top of this, the staff was incredibly rude when talking about this, telling us that it was completely our fault and offering no solutions. We will not be patronizing this restaurant anymore, too many other restaurants around to give these people your time and money. You should know, I never write Yelp reviews but this terrible experience made me go out of my way to make sure I let others know. Steer clear of this place for at least a few months, perhaps longer. They appear to be experiencing several issues with food and service. We are regulars of Crosby's Kitchen, another restaurant in the Four Star group, so we were looking forward to trying this new addition to the neighborhood. We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday. We ordered one of the platters, which came with our choice of either the Baby Back Ribs or Spare Ribs (we ordered Baby Back), and two meats; we selected the pork and the burnt ends. We learned that they had already run out of burnt ends, which we were disappointed and shocked by, considering it was only 6pm. The waitress asked what our backup meat was, and we selected the brisket. After putting the full order in, about 15 minutes later, the waitress stopped by and said that they were also out of Baby Back Ribs. Uh, what? Two key items we ordered at a barbecue place are not available, at 6pm on a Saturday? The manager did come by and offered to either bring an additional item or discount something. This was a nice gesture, and we said we would try the chicken. Beyond this disappointment with their unpreparedness on quantities of their staple menu items, we waited between 30-45 minutes for our food to arrive. Quite shocking. I certainly thought that after all the sacrifices we had to make to our order, they would have made up for it in service. No such luck. The food itself was OK, but spoiled by the fact that we had to settle for our 3rd and 4th choice options. The Spare Ribs were fine, nothing special. Not much meat on the bone. The pulled pork and brisket were better than the spare ribs, but still just OK. We ordered a garden salad as well, and it was a joke. I'm not sure how they get away with it on the menu. For $6, we could have gone next door to McDonald's and been more satisfied. It was just a small pile of lettuce, which wasn't even all that fresh, and no toppings or flavor at all. Another disappointment. Our waitress was also just OK. She took our order, but that was about it, and she wasn't really helpful in addressing the food issues they were having. She also had no idea how to pour a beer. They have some beers on draft and some in 16oz cans. I ordered one in a can, and when she brought it to the table, she poured about half of it straight down into the bottom center of the glass, and the entire glass filled up with foam, leaving only about an inch of beer at the bottom of the glass, not to mention deteriorating the carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, this was a sad and unfortunate experience with both food and service, and it seemed the issues were pervasive. Very disappointed with my visit here. I arrived at 1 for my reservation. I was seated and ordered drinks. After 15 minutes we had to as someone to get our waitress so we could order food. We placed order and got the family style breakfast. We had to wait 10 minutes to get our monkey bread but no platter came. Then our food came but still no platter. Great views! But very disappointed w the food !! Ordered the beer cheese n pretzel... thought it would be a hot cheese dip but it was COLD! A scoop of cold cheese on a plate surrounded by two soft bread sticks n chips. Then to make matters worse ordered the pulled meat nachos brisket..but found PORK on my plate after halfway done! I was disgusted because I don't eat pork! The server went back to the kitchen to inquire and came back to confirm that their beans had pork. She took it and brought me a new plate but the damage was done..If your beans have sausage and the cheese dip is cold then you need to add in those details on your menu, your menu needs to be revamped. This place was one of the last legs of our drink around the Hotel Zachary tour so you can only imagine. We had a late night snack and a few beers or was it more then a few... hmmmm can't remember. Space is cool big and open and they have live music every night we sat right in front and it sounded great. Ordered the smoked meat platter comes with choice of 2 brisket/chicken/pork/burnt ends and 2 sides I had brisket and pork both where excellent served on pc of white bread. They put sauce on meat automatically I like my meat simple no sauce so will request that next time I say you can always put it on later. Good portion of meat and tasty I got the cornbread which was big and tasty and good for smoking up beer and the fries also good. I really like this place I love BBQ and they did it right plus 17 bucks for all that the whole platter and 2 sides great deal. read more

Sadly the brisket was similar to pulled pork and about half fat. Talking globs of fat. I know brisket to be in recognizable slices and it should be lean. This wasn't even close. We went there after Cubs opening day which happened to be this locations second day open. There are 3 sauces on the table sweet, mustard and regular. The sandwich already came with sauce on it which was disappointing. If there is sauce on the table the meat should be naked. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was flavorful and smokey. Wish it did not come sauced. My wife had the brisket sandwich and she had the same complaint about the sauce. The smoked wings were in point. Came with a great mayo. I really wanted to love the Wrigley location after visiting the Wicker Park restaurant a couple of times and loving it, but can't say I recommend it. I would give it some time for the kinks to get sorted out. The space is really neat, with a big open seating area upstairs. We went for brunch and decided to give it a try after checking out the menu online. The food (eggs and other brunch food that doesn't take very long to prepare) took about an hour to arrive, and our waitress only checked on us after maybe a half hour of us waiting after we ordered. The manager also came over and apologized for the wait. When the food arrived, most of it was cold! The manager did make things right and comped our meal. I am not usually one to make a fuss but I was pretty disappointed with cold food after waiting so long. I will say that the food was generally tasty, even if cold. I just wish we had been tended to more frequently and had been served hot food! I hope that my experience was just a result of things getting up and running. I think I would have understood the delay if we had been there on a day the Cubs were playing, but they weren't and the restaurant wasn't full. Still, I appreciated the manager taking care of our bill and offering us dessert to remedy the situation. read more

Great experience! Found myself hungry in Wrigleyville one evening and decided to try Smoke Daddy...GREAT CHOICE! I sat on the patio, which has a great view of the park at Wrigley. I was greeted by my server Hannah, who is very friendly and knowledgeable about both the drink menu and food menu. I ordered a beer, the wrightwood salad, and pulled pork nachos. Everything tasted amazing and was reasonably priced. I will be back because of the great service! Be sure to ask for Hannah! She was amazing! I look forward to stopping in again soon. read more

First time eating here, not very impressed. Brisket was overly dry, the pork had little to know smoke ring, almost like it wasn't smoked long enough. the service was just ok. And the three sauces they provide are really overbearing and with the dryness of the meat was forced to have more sauce to make up for the dryness. The side Mac and cheese was the highlight of the lunch meal. to boot I ordered a coke, and after an hour and half still not received a coke. I definitely would not come back and for what I received, it was way overpriced, they only positive was eating across from Wrigley Field. Other than that. Meh, I have had way way better BBQ. read more
