If not for the quest & to find a treasure then why?? Eastside of downtown you will find Smoked. I did not know what all they had to offer prior to me going so I called and that's is preferred to call & see what is being served for the day in addition to their daily menu items. The chef answered and listed off the menu right there over the phone which made me feel special like v.I.p lol however I knew I wanted the brisket. Comes with 2 side & cornbread but I added a side cause if you're going to do it, do it damn it! Likes: Greens beans were the most seasoned thing on the plate with loads of seasoning but not an over kill. Mac n cheese was 2 scoops I could tell it was made with multiple cheeses I was happy with that. It was delish Mac n cheese. It's easy to damage my expectation on Mac n cheese & this wasn't one. When I called he even said Mac n cheese of course lol the yams were not drowned in sugar or syrup not that I'm against that but there's an appreciation for them when it delicately done with still the perfect flavor. The brisket was good. Had a thick layer of fat to drip into that meat. The flavor was smoky. The bbq sauce for the win with the vinegar acidic punch but sweet yummmmm. It was not a tender as I would like but it was not tough either. I would have want it just a lot but more tender but I am coming back to more if they have other options I would try outside of brisket or just for them heavenly sides Sorta Dislikes: small parking lot for 2 cars. Normally, when it comes to food, I will try a place a minimum of three times before writing a review, but this place is so good that I can't wait. Plus, I likely won't eat here often due to my diet. I've been checking this place out on Instagram for several weeks now, but finally decided to give them a try last night. My husband, my son and I devoured EVERY MORSEL! I ordered the turkey wing, which automatically comes with rice and gravy; yams and macaroni and cheese. The entire meal comes with a square of cornbread. First of all the turkey leg was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The rice was perfectly cooked and covered in a delectable turkey gravy . The yams tasted like a sweet potato pie minus the crust. The macaroni was good, but my least fave. The cornbread was delicious. I will be back, but I had the -itis last night, so it will be a while before I return. read more

I had the pleasure of eating the best food I have ever eaten at a cook out. Travis has a real talent when it comes to true southern food. He made outstanding barbecue, melt in your mouth yams, succulent brisket. Coleslaw, corn bread, beans, Mac and cheese not to mention the tastiest smoked turkey wings. He cooks seasonal food too. Once you try his made from scratch banana pudding you will never want any other. Hire him for any occasion you won't be sorry. Neighborhood hole-in-the-walls always have the best food! We decided to try this place because of the reviews and we were ever so pleased. The guy behind the counter was pleasant and explained which food items were available and which entrees included rice. I absolutely LOVED all of my food; the turkey wing, the collards and yams were all delicious! My boyfriend was excited see the wing connected to the breast and raved about the mac and cheese! The highlight of the visit with the mac, delicious and home styled baked. Cornbreads pretty good too. Fried Ribs were just a let down for me, tasted more like a good fried pork steak. Not sure what I expected but I really wanted smoked ribs with no sauce but they only sell them that way on certain days. Fried you can get anyday I believe. Cabbage was very tender but full of pepper and no other seasoning. I felt cheated on turkey wing, got the 2 smaller pieces but not the drummie (sp) part. I think for $13.99 I should be getting a whole cheap wing, I'm sure the profit on that plate is already crazy. So overall Mac saved the day but I wouldn't go out of my way to pay these prices for foods that are just above average. Wow this was an epic stop for BBQ! We chose it on a whim based off of great reviews and they were spot on. Every single thing we ordered was cooked to perfection. The BBQ chicken was out of this world, falling off the bone deliciousness. Can say the same about the brisket -- which just melted in your mouth. Sauce was sweet & spot on! This is a little hole in the wall on Person St, close to the river and Weiner Works. Everything is made fresh, fried foods are made fresh to order, so make sure you call a good 20-30 minutes ahead of time if you're taking it to-go. So far I've had their fried ribs, fried shrimp, and brisket plates and all have been amazing! The shrimp are huge, and the freshest I've ever had here in Fayetteville and the brisket is so tender and isn't overly smoky. At first, I couldn't try anything else because I was stuck on the fried ribs, but I'm so glad I finally branched out and tried some of their other items..the brisket burger or fried chicken filet sandwich is next! Food is great; however, paying extra (3.50) for starches (rice,mac etc) turns me off. Most places include a veg & starch with meals. You already have to wait for your food which isn't too bad but then paying extra to have what used to come with the meal is confusing. There has to be a better way. read more
