Never again!!! I had not been here in years ( since my ribs were not done and I could not bite them off the bone), My husband and I decided to go there for lunch about 2 months ago. I had ribs with no sauce except for what they are cooked in with the sauce on the side. I like sauce but it really hates me. Everything was perfect. So about 2 weeks after that we went there and took guests. The waitress was wonderful. I ordered the same thing. Our meals came and all of them were soaked in sauce. Our sweet waitress took them back and we heard her say I ordered these with no sauce. A few moments this very rude manager came over and told me that's the way they are cooked. Sorry!!! Our waitress said she was sorry and was sure that I could get what I ordered. She was sweet. I took the ribs home and washed the sauce off and they were good. Came here around 11:30 on a Friday afternoon. My husband and I sat at the bar. The bartenders name was Nick, he was a super nice dude with an awesome beard. The environment is laid back, not too noisy and clean. The servers and wait staff are attentive and knowledgeable about the menus. Went on a Friday and there was a 30 minute wait but trust me when I say it's totally worth the wait. The waitress's are extremely nice and attentive. The food is outstanding and very juicy. The meat literally falls off the bone and the baked potato is delicious as well. Found out at the end there is a point reward program you can enroll in for free which is awesome! Our waitress Michelle was great. The food was wonderful and the drinks were phenomenal! Michelle was very friendly. Some servers annoy you by being around too much or trying to have super long conversations. She was neither hovering or too talkative. When she was having a conversation with us I enjoyed talking to her. The smoked wings are my boyfriends favorite and as usual they were great. My southwest scorcher may have been missing some sort of mayo but I'm not sure and it was still great. read more

Racist employees. We came in around 1210 today to an almost empty restaurant. After waiting 10 minutes with no sign of a server I pushed the call button on the table. Our server then came out and spoke to the table directly behind us and then walked over to an empty table and started doing something, anything besides waiting on us. This place is going downhill fast. Although our server was decent, our food was horrible. We were seated at a dirty table and I had to request the server have the seats wiped down due to the chunks of sticky food smeared throughout the seats. My food tasted re-heated and my ribs weren't even warm. They forgot to add the sides to my boyfriend's meal. To top it off, there were particles floating in my water so I didn't bother drinking it. OK, so I was in town on business and was hungry for some decent Q. I, being an avid viewer of "BBQ Pitmasters", was stoked when I saw Leann Whippen's WoodChicks BBQ was fairly close. Better check the reviews just in case..........Wow, I was surprised at the terrible reviews. So, I passed. Still hungry for some Q and not wanting to venture far, I wind up here. So here I am sitting at a chain BBQ restaurant. At least one that advertises that it does BBQ. I settle in at the bar fully expecting a 2 star experience. Well let me tell you what kids, it was almost a 2 start experience. Had everything not gone wrong, it would have been fully deserving of a 2 star rating. I sit at the bar and meet the tender, Adam. He takes my drink order and then my food order. It took ten minutes to flag him down to get some splenda for my unsweet tea. He was pretty busy with the other 7 customers he had, I guess. So i order the combo. Pulled pork, brisket, and wings with a side of beans and fries. I order the wings garlic buffalo flavor. He comes back a few minutes later and says "garlic parmesan" on the wings right?? I said nope, garlic buffalo please. No problem and away he goes. Oh by the way, my tea is gone and so is he......... Food arrives, or something that sort of resembles food. Pulled Pork-Very moist and tender. It tasted like somebody dumped 5 pounds of salt on it. WTF??? I didn't put any sauce on it because i always want to taste the meat first, then make a sauce decision. People, sauce wasn't going to save this! Brisket- This was what I will call 50/50 brisket. It was 50% brisket and 50% fat. Literally. No joking. It was dressed in some sort of BBQ sauce that wasn't going to help it either! Wings- Garlic Parmesan. Yep. Not Garlic Buffalo, even though i ordered them twice. Tasted terrible. Told Adam and he froze. He was thinking "oh my god, what do I do????? I said just bring me some hot sauce to dump on them. He did. It was terrible as well. Tea is empty again. Need lots to drink to wash this shit down. Hello! Beans- Tasted like i was eating beans with sugar on them. Really really sweet. No thanks. Fries-Hard to screw them up. Guess that was the only thing that was OK. It would have been nice if i could have gotten some ketchup, but oh well. So I ask Adam for the check. He brings it. Smokey Bones is a great middle-of the road restaurant in Town Center when you want to take someone to lunch or dinner, but you don't wanna ask what their budget is. It is a very laid back environment but still has the cool factor with the sports bar in the middle of the restaurant. Most of the time there is not a terribly long wait, but to me it is worth the wait. I HEART their BBQ Chicken! If you have an allergy beware! We will NEVER go back! First of all it took an hour and half to be seated after we were told around 45 minutes. We ordered the nachos with pork and guacamole as an app. When they came out there was no guac. I asked the guy and he said they didn't have any and asked if it was a deal breaker. I replied that it was because we love guacamole. He said sorry and said we could keep them and he would take them off our tab. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich for my meal but informed our server I'm allergic to blue cheese and don't want it. When she brought it out she said here ya go and there is no blue cheese on it. I thanked her. After taking a bite I realized it did have blue cheese! And I just ate it. So when our server checked back I told her. She was so apologetic and explained that she put it in as no blue cheese and that it was an allergy! She was very sorry and I knew it wasn't her fault. But by the time I got the new one I was not hungry anymore. My fault I should have just had her take it off the tab. Now when the bill came everything was in it! Nachos guacamole sandwich and all I didn't ask for the sandwich to be removed as I shouldn't have had to! I worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years. When you almost loosen someone you don't charge them for their meal at the very least. Ive worked at places that comp the entire bill and or offer incentive to come again let alone the food that was wrong! We asked her about the nachos that the gentleman said he would remover. She took the bill and when she brought it back she told us "I don't know what she told you but she took this off" and handed us the bill. Only the nachos were removed. The guacamole we never received and the up charge for the pork were still in the bill. I guess we should have asked to speak with the gentleman because we don't know who she had correct the bill. Our waitress was really good and none of this was her fault BUT this was a horrible experience! So basically they could have killed me and a manager didn't even come to say they were sorry. Horrible. I had no idea a BBQ restaurant (that I love for steaks) could serve up such a delicious chicken sandwich. For the lunch crowd: their grilled, smoked chicken sandwich is to die for. I eat here once a year with my family after Christmas. There is usually about 12 of us and so we have never had any issues. Food is good...I usually get the ribs. The wait staff is friendly, food came out in a reasonable time considering there is 12 of us and drinks were always full. We go to the one out at Greenbrier and it is a chain so I cant speak for any of the other ones. read more

I used to visit Smokey Bones quite often in the past. I visited this location in Chesapeake back in July and I ordered wings for myself and my family and we really enjoyed them. I decided to go again a couple of days ago and I ordered the eight BOGO traditional wings in honey barbecue which gave me 16. I also ordered 16 of the BOGO mild buffalo wings which gave me 32. When I called in my order they said it would be a 45 minute to an hour wait so I got to the store at just under an hour has to provide adequate time. When I arrived home and we were ready to eat, the honey barbecue wings were undercooked so we had to nuke those in the microwave. The mild wings tasted mealy and mushy and also like there was a presence of a different flavor on them. They tasted like they had been flavored with the wrong sauce and then rinsed and then buffalo sauce was applied. I thought it was just me but I had my godson to taste one and he thought they were awful as well and he usually really enjoys them. So at that point I wound up throwing away 30 wings. I wasted my money and then still had to find us something to eat for the evening. It was just so disappointing. read more

We have been to smokey Bones a lot since 2011. We have a bones card. We went on 11/12/2015 and i can say that was the worst experience. Over the years the serving and waiting staff has only went down in ability to effectively do their job. This time in particular we ordered the loaded cheese fries with our two meals. The waitress instead of being attentive sat with a friend and ate. She did not wash her hands before returnimg to work and then proceeded to tell us that our cheese fries were going to be delayed because someone gave them to the wrong table. She only had one table seeing as the place wasn't very busy and she was to busy eating instead of getting us the things we needed like water. My water was empty for the majority of the meal. When she brought the check we gave her a coupon for her to apply as well as our bones card. She returned with our check without putting the discount on it. We had to wait another 10 min for her to return to correct the check. Once again remember that she only had one table. Other times we have had issues like them not bringing water or sauces that are included with the meal. The kitchen staff does make a lot of mistakes at this location. We have had our burger come out without the additives (pulled pork.) Overall this is the worst of the two locations. Oh let's not forget that if you call and there is a 45 min wait and you are 30 min away they WILL NOT under any circumstances add you to their wait list. Instead, they will advise you to have your party arrive in separate groups (when there are 3 of you in the same car.) read more

Not super happy with my visit today. They say they offer curbside pick up online, but when I got there they told me they were to under staffed to bring the food out. I go inside with my 2yo to pick up the food and there are two tables in the restaurant and servers and a manager doing nothing at the bar. I asked the hostess why no one was able to bring the food out considering they had no one in the restaurant and obviously were not understaffed. She said someone would need to answer the phone if it rang. She was young so I didn't push the issue I did however let the manager know how I felt about the situation. (I am pregnant, I had my child, she had no shoes, I was shaking with anger) why was no server able to help the hostess with running the food? Why couldn't the manager bring the food? He was walking around doing nothing, shooting the breeze with the servers. I hate to be one of those people, but I was in the restaurant business as a server/line cook/ foh manager at any given time for over 12 years. There is no excuse. I understand covid has thrown everyone off but that was not the case today. Cant blame this on covid. On top of everything the food seemed like it was made at lunch and had been sitting in a hot well since, or possibly for days. Dried out bbq, Mac and coleslaw was good. Bag of doughnuts had 5 in it and old as anything. Definitely not made fresh or even that day. All in all, super disappointed. I'm sure this place was great pre covid but lack of business makes a place complacent. I still can't respect a manager that would tell their 15-16 yo hostess to tell people they are over staffed so they don't have to help. I really hope he's not the GM. read more
