Inside, the staff was welcoming and helpful, which made the visit even better. My total came to about $34--very reasonable considering the quality. What stood out most is that the food is halal, GMO- and antibiotic-free, and made from scratch. That freshness really came through in the taste. We also received our order quickly, which was a big plus. Ambience is what is at places where fast food is served. Overall, this is definitely a spot I'll be returning to whenever I'm in the area.

My body seems to be that of a crybaby when it comes to handling spice. I ordered the food just after they opened, at 11:06, thru their online storefront (website). I arrived to pick up the food at around 11:20. They were just packaging it up to go out the door, and I was the only one in the restaurant. I'm sure if there was a line or quite a few more orders it would have taken longer. The food was packed in a small folding box (just like KFC style), but contained no napkins - so be sure to grab those before you go! The chicken was moist, tender, and juicy! The breading was thin, yet slightly crunchy. It seems that they make this perfectly! My compliments to the crew. It was done very well. The tenders were as big as my hands, and just as thick! They were quite large! I'm not sure I've ever seen tenders quite so big, that weren't 50+% breading alone. But no - these were genuinely large - They must have been the beast of a chicken yard. Tender. Juicy. Perfection. You get 4 slices of pickle with the meal, and for a pickle-lover like me that was great! They're not terrible high-class tasting, like a Claussen-brand pickle, and have a hint of bread-n-butter taste to them, but they're decent! But, the reason for the score being as it is, is because the flavor profile didn't fit to the fireworks sparkle that hit the chicken towards a home run. The seasoning landed a bit short, and flat. I was expecting a myriad of blended herbs and spices to match the exquisite look and tenderness of the chicken - but it never came. I couldn't tell you what herb or spice it was that felt so strongly, but there was one element in the spice package that dominated everything else, and just fills the nose and mouth with that one flavor over all else. It's not a bad taste by any means. It was quite enjoyable as-is, but it's nothing overtly special to write back home about. I wouldn't travel from far just to get this chicken. One other thing that bothered me was that they seemed to offer mac & cheese with other things mixed in but yet not the mac & cheese by itself on the side. Yet, you can get slaw, onions, pickles, and all these other condiments and flavors by themselves - just not mac & cheese alone. Sad! A terribly missed profit-maker for sure... If there's one thing people want with good fried chicken it's mac & cheese! I believe that's written in soul food lore somewhere... Lastly, the sauces that came with the food -- You can pick your own, and by default I went with the Crimson Sauce, and ranch. The ranch fell a bit flat. It's not an expensive or savory ranch; it's just a bottom of the barrel 2D ranch. No eccentric savory flavors, or myriad of tastes. There was clearly no buttermilk in it either, it just felt a bit sad. That's not to say it wasn't good, but it left me longing for a bit more. The Crimson sauce was good. It had a tiny bit of heat -- similar to something like your average green peppers, or mildly spicy fresh-made salsa would give off. Something your old-school no-spice white granny could order and eat with no complaining. The sauce was good and flavorful. Between the 4 tenders, 1 cup of ranch, and 1 cup of crimson sauce, I finished my meal just as the sauce cups were being wiped empty with the last bit of chicken meat. A refreshing and enjoyable experience, but nothing to drive out of your way for. I enjoyed the meal, and would come back - but I wouldn't go craving it once a week for the rest of my life. Good for a passing meal when you're sick of eating the same ol' Taco Bell, KFC, Chipotle, or McDonald's meals, and want to change it up a bit.

So I have been here a few times in the past and have had a few issues with the place but I was really craving some bbq food on Monday night after a long day of work and famous Dave's looked too crowded so I decided to give this place another chance. I have to say that this time I truly had a great experience. I sat at the bar I my bartender was way better than most of the others I have had there in the past. She, I think her name was Anna, was really helpful with the questions I had about the menu and was very quick to fill up my beer for me. Most of the time as soon as I was done with one beer she was checking to see if I wanted another. There were a few regulars there and you could tell she had a good relationship with them and that is something I always look for in a bartender. I still have my reservations about the place due to my past issues with service but I will be coming in more often now that they seem to have a bartender who cares. read more

Disappointing Start to the New Year at Smokey Bones" I visited Smokey Bones on January 1, hoping to start the new year with a fantastic meal. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the complete opposite. The service was incredibly slow. The major letdown, however, was the food. To start off we ordered the cornbread skillet, apparently they no longer do the skillet. The four pieces of cornbread that came out taste like they were in the freezer and just warmed up in the microwave which meant they were very hard. The other dishes we ordered arrived cold, which was a huge disappointment, especially for a place known for its BBQ and warm, hearty meals. It was a frustrating experience and certainly not the way anyone would want to start their year. I hope Smokey Bones takes this feedback seriously and improves both their service and food quality. Guess they are under new management. Apparently hes scared away all the old staff, and replaced them with a bunch of children, that have no place waiting in a bar. I asked our server, with puke green colored hair, think her name was Starr (lol!), what kinds of IPAs they had. She replied with "huh, whats that?" Are you serious???... Like what happened to Misti, Jackie, and Rachel?? Im mean the servers that actually made this place awesome??? Only reasons me and my buddy's would even bother going in this place (since the food sucks). Cops show up at night and harass people in parking lot too. Had a friend of mine cuffed for no reason. This is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is wonderful and we always ask for the same excellent server- Miss Caroline. She is the best server in the industry and we eat out a lot. We recommend the skillet cornbread as an appetizer. Fabulous! Did I mention that you should ask for Caroline as your server. She is exyremely knowledgeable about the menu and flavors of the food. She will recommend dishes if you are slightly undecided. She has not failed us yet. A true professional focused solely on your experience while in her care. If you're looking for a great place to eat and hang out, then this is definitely the place! The service was absolutely astounding and management was always there making sure we were well taken care of. The food was truly a cut above, my wife and I ordered the 2lb steak! That's right, a whole 2 lbs!!!! It was absolutely delicious and we definitely plan to get the same thing next time we go back, which will be very soon. I recently visited Smokey Bones with my family, and we had a fantastic experience! The food was delicious, and the prices were very fair for what we got. There were three of us, and we ordered 3 appetizers, 3 full meals, and dessert, all for just under $60. The BBQ baked beans were a standout--really flavorful. My son and I had burgers, which were cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor, including the rolls. The appetizers were delicious, and the desserts were huge in portions. Long story short: Go to Dave's famous bbq. Why? Because there are not BUGS IN THE SALAD like at Smokey bones. After this disgusting awful occurrence we were treated like we were rude for utterly losing our appetite. No compensation was given, and the manager was very unprofessional. Do not go. When you find one cricket or grasshopper in the salad, what does that say about the entire establishment? Decided to give this location another try because it is close to home and I was emailed a coupon. When I went in it was mostly empty but I couldn't get seated because only one person was taking phone orders and helping guests. The rest of the staff were socializing at the end of the bar. But their bowls were a banger again!!! If you like spicy but not too spicy it's perfect. If you don't like it spicy just get white sauce only. Full flavor, perfectly cooked rice and tender perfectly portioned chicken. We got 5 whole wings that were crispy and seasoned well. The only drawback back for me but not for most y'all know I like breaded sauced wings. The service is welcoming and friendly. This is a great local spot with good food and service.

The food was packaged wonderfully, and was nice and hot on arrival. Inside of the jalapeno poppers container, there were five chicken wing sized jalapeno poppers. This would be my first time trying jalapeno poppers. It was a generous portion of half a jalapeno and significant filling, to compliment. They honestly weren't too hot and I rather enjoyed them. Inside of the container for the rotisserie chicken, fries and onion rings, there were a few pieces of chicken and six onion rings. The chicken had a beautiful herb-like taste to it. The chicken skin was soft and easily torn apart. The chicken meat was tender and able to be pulled away easily, while at the same time remaining juicy and flavorful. The pieces included in the half chicken were the leg, thigh, breast, and wing. The onion rings were a lovely beer-battered type, with light fluffy crunchy breading and a nice tender onion inside. This is my favorite way to get them. These are not the cheap style crunchy-crisp ones with a hard exterior shell. Inside of the container for the cheese fries there was a generous portion of cheese and fries with the cheese being evenly spread across the top of all the fries. The cheese fries were lovely. The fries were cooked just right and the cheese had just a slight hint of a spiced kicked to it, while remaining in the background on the edges of your tongue, not a full-frontal heated assault. On the downside, The meal didn't come with any napkins or utensils. Though with this kind of meal you shouldn't necessarily need it - but it would have been nice to see that it was included, as an option... Overall, the meal was enjoyable and I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a new rotisserie chicken place. This one is a win in my book!

A combo order of 1/2 dark chicken is awesome which we like with rice and fried yucca. But double rice is also a very good way to go. Both are also very good. Try the plantains as a dessert. Also, order a chicken tamale. These are great for tomorrow's lunch. They are really good. The service is just counter service but friendly. They are pretty quick in getting your order done.
