Went to have dinner after church. We were seated promptly. Waitress can by and said she was cashing out another very large party and would be back shortly. She brought us waters and ran off. Not a problem in my book. I get it! She was super busy and needed extra time. However, upon her return, she apologized again. Told us that the chef's specials for the day were out. Not a problem if it was late in the day. However it was 12 o'clock in the afternoon. Ok, she made recommendations and my husband and I took her recommendations and ordered a brisket plate and a two meat plate. Hubby ordered a salad as one of his sides. Roughly five minutes later another young lady presented the salad. However, I had to stop my husband from eating it because there was mold on the tomato. Now this questioned the rest of the meal and the freshness of the food. Our waitress came to check on us about 10 mins later to tell me they didn't have any loaded baked potatoes left. REALLY!?! This is a steak/bbq place and they don't have potatoes left AND it is only 12:45 on a Sunday. We thanked the young lady for her hospitality but left the restaurant. Good food, we went early on a Friday night hardly anybody in the restaurant. We did have to wait a few minutes before we got seated. Ambience is more of a western theme and was clean. The food was good, the brisket had a nice smoky flavor not a lot of seasoning, but the smoky flavor brought out the flavor of the meat. The ribs had more seasoning on it and also the smoky flavor, the ribs were delicious. The wrap had grille chicken with a buffalo sauce. We had a lot of food left over. The margarita was tasty, but didn't seem to have much tequila. Would definitely eat here again. read more

Pleasantly surprised! The three of us ordered fried pickles for the appetizer. For the entrees, double double cheeseburger, smoke ribs, and one pulled pork sandwich. The side orders consisted of fries, macaroni and cheese, and fried okra. The food was well cooked and seasoned and served hot. The server was polite and informative. We were driving through and decided to get some bbq for dinner. We stopped here, had an ok vibe, nice decor and the waitress Brook was great. Unfortunately the food just mediocre at best. The appetizers (chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, cowboy egg rolls) seemed like just came out of the freezer and popped in the microwave. I order the 2 meat choose with brisket and ribs. Here camping at State Park, drove in , immediately seated, drinks provided , order taken in 5 min with a great attitude! Food out fast, and best meal we had in a while!! Hubby bday, got the half rack ribs, but I've never seen that much food on half rack , at least 8-9 good meat ribs, okra and loaded potatoe.. I got Nick's salad with brisket!! Oh my, great choice!!! This restaurant has gone so downhill over the last 2years....From the microwaved food, poor quality entree's, and mediocre service, to the public fights between management, servers, and customer's....But we tried them again this past Saturday night. Parking lot was 1/2 full of vehicles, we walked in and waited for someone to seat us, after standing there at the counter/desk for 5 minutes, with the servers occasionally looking at us but making no effort to acknowledge us, we turned and left and went to Tacoria Estrella where the food and service is always great....A shame because Mineral Wells could sure use a good sit down restaurant, but this ' Smokin' Barrell ' just isn't it.....Terrible Management, terrible service, poor quality food..... read more

This is the first time that I have been here, and I am not completely impressed with it. The staff was nice, but the gretter could've dressed a little better since she is the first person the customer sees. Our waitress was very nice and very attentive to most of our needs. The chicken fried chicken was good, but I have had better. Didn't care for the garlic mashed potatoes, and the corn portion was more for a child (I thought I read corn on the cob). I wasn't offered other choices, so that was a letdown. Probably wouldn't recommend eating here if you are looking for a good chicken fried chicken meal. read more

Spent 4 days in MW when on the first day I discovered this spot. Have been back every day since! Service is great, restroom was clean, comfortable place. The food. I had nothing bad in 4 visits. Sampled everything but was surprised at the quality of the BBQ since they told me they just started smoking. During my visit it wasn't even on the menu yet. Make sure you ask if you don't see it. Full bar, happy hour every day and I hear they have live music on weekends. If in the Mineral Wells area it's worth the visit. read more

Absolutely the worst restaurant and service here at this restaurant. Tommy our waiter was obnoxious, and thought he was funny, but was very rude and inappropriate comments. Tommy, you job is a waiter not a obnoxious rude jerk! Our Chicken Fried Steak and Chicken Fried Chicken both were overcooked, and didn't have great flavor or presentation. My husband and I brought our two littles with us for dinner. Not exactly family friendly in the sense of not having any coloring menus for kids. Our waitress was super sweet but kept forgetting a lot of things. The kids had a cheeseburger that was VERY cooked and the fries were pretty soft. We ordered the fried catfish, which was actually very good BUT again I had to ask for condiments a couple of different times. We also ordered 2 long islands that the waitress forgot to put in so we didn't get those until just about the end of dinner. Half way through our drinks the Bartender came over and apologized and handed us 2 shots of tequila which were supposed to have been in our drinks that she had forgotten. Every one was super nice, but again food isn't anything to brag about and we won't be going back. read more

I booked their private room for my group at Smokin' Barrel in Mineral Wells, TX- we had just been served lunch and the owner (Ray) in middle of my luncheon - he came into my room and demanded with be out in 30 minutes because another group was coming in. He was rude, unprofessional- guess what - the other group was coming in on another day. The owner (Ray) never came back and apologized but every waiter and manager on the floor did apologize. The food was so-so (right out of the microwave) and expensive. I will never recommend this place to anyone ever again. read more

March 27, 2021 Was treated with open arms when 25 of us just showed up to eat. Staff was friendly, kind and very attentive. Manager was the same way. The food was very good. That was our first time, but won't be our last. Highly recommend this place. read more

The waitress we had was horrible. The fried catfish was not cooked, we never received our appetizer and waited forever for condiments to the point that our food was cold. The last 2 visits have made me a "never again" customer. The salad had brown lettuce, bleh. The next trip, baked potato with Brisket was so fatty (more fat than meat) it was disgusting. I should have read the reviews before ordering the 3 meat plate. The sausage was good. The brisket had a small smoke ring and was not moist at all. Definitely will not order the brisket or ribs if we return. Wife had the chicken strips. She said they were good. We also ordered the lemon pepper chicken wings for our daughter. The skin could have been a little crisper, but they had good lemon pepper flavoring. read more
