Hit the spot. We came across this spot a few years ago on our way up from FL to NY when we stopped on a whim and it was fantastic. It's simple bbq sandwiches and plates with your choice of sauces on the table. We, however, never got the name and had no idea where it was on our trip when we were telling people about it later. Today as we were diving to FL from NY we saw a billboard for the Smoking Pig and looked at one another like that sounds familiar - and it was the same place! What a wonderful surprise! My daughter and I were driving up I-95 and stopped for dinner. The meat was tender and cooked perfectly! I loved the sweet bbq sauce, my daughter favored the hot. Staff was pleasant, the restaurant is very clean. I wasn't crazy about the cole slaw, and my daughter didn't love her green beans, but it worked out well because we traded and were very happy. We were traveling up 95 North and getting hungry so I read the reviews for this place and they all seemed good. Well, just ok in my opinion. It's not the nicest place but doesn't bother me if the food is good. There are a few small tables and a few picnic tables. You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you. I got a pulled pork sandwich with a side of Mac-n-cheese. They mistakenly gave me coleslaw but when I mentioned it to her; she brought out my Mac-n-Cheese. The pulled pork was good but the Mac-n-cheese wasn't the greatest. My husband got beef brisket and coleslaw. He liked the brisket but did not care for the coleslaw. Just like a lot of the previous reviews, we discovered this restaurant to be surprisingly tasty and we didn't expect it from a little place off of I-95. I got the pulled pork with potato salad. The potato salad is a family recipe and it was delicious. I couldn't stop talking about it - lol. And the pulled pork was delicious too. They claim "no fried foods." And it's true. You won't find French fries here. My husband had the baked beans. I asked him if they tasted canned like previous reviews said, and he said no, that they were good tasting. We were driving from FL to Charleston and I was hungry. I turned on Yelp and saw that this place had some pretty good reviews. I started looking through the pictures and saw that they had vinegar bbq sauce so I told my husband we had to stop. I love bbq. I hope bbq is my last meal before I die. I grew up in NC though so I will always have a special place in my heart and palette for vinegar sauce. I ordered a kids meal because we were driving and I didn't want to overdo it. Also, one of the pictures I saw said the kids portion was generous. The kids portion was not generous. It was a very small. It was a slider bun with a scoop of bbq and side of mac n cheese. That being said the mac n cheese was very good. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful. The vinegar sauce was a thing of beauty and my main reason for giving this place 5 stars. OMG. After taking a bite or two of the bbq without sauce, which you should always do to determine the base integrity of the meat, I doused the rest of it with vinegar sauce. I danced and hummed as I ate it. My husband laughed at me, but I didn't care. He said he hadn't seen me that happy about food since we went to the Mario Batali restaurant in Vegas. I needed a Q' fix that would make up for my previous disappoint and this place did not disappoint. I was heading back to Jacksonville and searched BBQ on Google Maps as soon as I passed Savannah and I was between two Smokin Pigs! I decided to go for the one in route and glad I did. The restaurant was right off 95 and next to a gas station, or McDonald's I forget. Plenty of parking and a good amount of seating. I wanted to get my order to-go and spent about 3-5 minutes scanning the menu before deciding. I got the ribs, pulled pork, 6 wings and some side. Sweet and Spicy BBQ sauce. As soon as I ordered a line of folks came in stretching almost to the front entrance, phew. The food was great along with the sauce, even as leftovers for the next day. The cole slaw was probably my least favorite out of the whole meal but I'll gladly be back at some point in my later travels. read more

I don't often find myself in Midway, GA, and wasn't really looking to eat there, but when I saw all of the cars at The Smokin Pig, and realized it wasn't a car lot, I was intrigued. Didn't look particularly inviting, but again all those cars (and especially pick-up trucks-they know some good bbq!). As soon as I got out of the car the aroma of FRESH, HEAVILY SMOKED BBQ just transported me in! It was immaculate inside, super friendly and helpful staff, and a line of about 30 people that moved so quickly, until I got to the front. OK this NYC girl can't comprehend a "rib sandwich" and there were so many incredible options, and combos, oh my! Fortunately, the crowd was kind, and Katie was my mentor and guide-she needs to be cloned, or given a big raise! I ordered the chx sand with baked beans, and it was tremendous in size, taste and value. Feeling a bit guilty, I also ordered a pulled pork sand for my GA teenager, for after school. Katie wrapped it so nice, in extra foil so that it stayed hot. Well, my son born and raised in GA, considers himself THE expert on pork, and he declared it the best he ever had! I also felt compelled to bring home a banana pudding, and it may have been the best ever. (I really tried not to share, but felt guilt). So, Katie helped me through my 3 course meal, and was so proud of the food and the restaurant, it was nice to see. The tables are abundant long, picnic type tables, and I did notice I was the only woman...and nobody shared my table! But the owner, stopped by and checked on me. The only oddity was the ladies room. While it was clean, and I've seen some strange arrangements in my world travels, never saw this configuration before. There's a reason they are so highly rated - it's awesome! The food is terrific - nothing is fried. It's all fresh, smoked and delicious. And the service is super fast & friendly! We ordered online as we were traveling but honestly we could have just walked right in. We saw a number of people greeted quickly and served right away. It's worth the visit. I wish we lived closer! We decided to pull off the highway on the way to South Carolina for a bite to eat. Luckily we ended up next to Smokin Pig. So instead of your typical fast food stop we decided to try this place. Luckily they were next to this big open area where we could park our RV. Ordered some ribs and brisket and brought it back to the RV to eat so I can't comment on the place itself or the service. The food though was very good. It's not the best BBQ I've ever had but it was pretty darn good. Ribs were flavorful and tender, but still had bite to them which I like. The brisket was a bit dryer than I prefer but still had good flavor. If we find ourselves making the drive again will definitely plan to stop here for lunch! read more

Delicious BBQ stop right off I95! Would driveline stop by next time I drive by. Chicken on the bone was great and juicy, potato salad like my mom's (but no egg) and I enjoyed the Brunswick stew as well (never had before though so can't compare to anything). Husband had sliced chicken which he liked (although mine looked juicier), baked beans and corn in the cob all of which he liked. Bbq sauces were good, although I wouldn't have hated more sauce choices (sweet honey bbq, mild bbq with mustard, hot bbq with mustard, and spicy vinegar). Found another one y'all. After fifty or a hundred BBQ stops you start just recognizing when it's going to be a good one. Smokin Pig started when I opened the car door to the front smell of woodsmoke. You'll order at the counter from the chalkboard behind the register. Small and jumbo sandwiches, plates and by the pound options are available. I got the brisket plate with beans and Brunswick Stew. Everything on the plate was fantastic. The stew was hearty with just the right acid tang, full of veggies. The beans were canned, sure. Most times they are at these small joints, but they've obviously been gussied up with some Kitchen love because they were delicious. The brisket of course was the star - tender and moist, served hot enough to know it's not been sitting out, and a great smoke ring which you just can't fake. It was so good I ended up not even using any of the sauces which were actually pretty good too. Definitely recommend and it's now on my must-stop BBQ list. read more

I kept it simple and opted for ribs and my friend decided to try the brisket so we could sample both.
