    Barracos Bakery

A newer family-owned business located approximately 12 miles north of Darien, GA. Barracos Bakery is located in the old Sapelo Station Crossing restaurant. The interior is clean and nicely decorated with plenty of seating. The owner, along with the staff, are pleasant and welcoming. We had breakfast on a Saturday morning opting for the bagel breakfast sandwiches with a hash brown. The baked goods were freshly baked and vary from day-to-day. We both chose Death by Chocolate for a treat. It did not disappoint. The lunch specials vary from day-to-day and can be found on their Facebook. We will definitely be returning soon.

The food is fantastic and fresh. And the service is excellent. Highly recommend. Small little local restaurant and everything is fresh.

The previous time was an experience I will never forget because I had the best Prime Rib experience of my life. This time however was a complete opposite. First, after the salad; which was nothing to write home about, we sat at least for 30 minutes waiting for our Prime Rib, and was then told by our waiter that our order had been "lost". So now we sat for an additional 15-20 minutes until our Prime Rib's appeared. And let me tell you, it wasn't worth waiting for, whatsoever. I had asked for an end-cut medium rare and what I got was more well done than rare. Anyway, I remembered how it previously had melted in my mouth, this time it was pretty tough, not what I was expecting. So, a very disappointing time was had.

Tried the pork wings and fried green beans. Nice apps from the bar. Ever thought I would rave about fried green beans but they were delicious! And the bbq pork wings could be a meal. Great spot with a great view of the river. Bartender was awesome. Very friendly. Lots of great southern hospitality! Went back for dinner and our server Robert was on point. Great suggestions and very attentive. Very good food and pretty reasonable.

My husband had the chorizo burrito (good, but didn't love the fried chicken gravy), and I had the farmhouse skillet--tasty, but the chimichurri was a bit too limey for me. Friendly and interactive. * Cocktails were good. I think I sampled everyone's, and most were really good. *Place had a cool vibe What could of been better: *This almost ruined the visit. Walk in and the hostess, young lady looked at us and mumbled. We explained how many people we had 5 with one more joining us. Just stared at us and looked confused. Said we could sit at the bar. The place was mostly empty. Asked again about seating and she seemed lost. A member of party asked if we could sit there, and pointed and the hostess states " I guess so" it was the weirdest interaction I have ever had with a hostess. She seemed lost. We were debating whether we should even stay. Overall we enjoyed the visit once we got past the door. Will give them another chance

I highly recommend their buffalo crab dip, a concoction that is a buffalo cheese dip served with fresh lump crab. You can really taste the crab in this dish. They don't skimp on it at all. The most clever thing that they did here, though, is to serve it with wonton chips. It's something that's truly unique, as most restaurants would serve a dish like this with regular chips. The wonton chips are a treat unto themselves, having great wonton flavor. However, when you combine it with the dip, it really takes it over the top. Highly recommend. For my entree, I had their Cajun Alfredo pasta. It is linguine served in a "Cajun-spiced Alfredo sauce". It is "served with tasso and smoked sausage", and you can choose to have it with either chicken or wild GA shrimp. In either case, once again, they do not skimp . You get a heaping portion of either chicken or shrimp, and the sauce is very tasty. It is just as described, an Alfredo sauce with a little Cajun flavor, though it is not spicy. It is served with no sides, but no sides are necessary as it is a hearty portion all by itself. Very delicious. The most impressive thing that I saw is that the owner is very hands-on. They have these new-fangled mobile electronic lamps, and the owner came by and noticed that ours wasn't quite working. He replaced it immediately himself. He was very friendly and chatted us up. He also went around and was serving and clearing tables himself. It seems that if you eat here, there's a strong possibility that you could end up meeting the owner! Meeting him was a very nice touch. The only thing that I had a hard time with here was choosing a dish because everything looked so good on the menu! Delicious food and great service. I strongly recommend this place!

The space looks great, and it was exciting to see them expanding into dinner service. I went in craving a good burger and ordered the Smashburger, upgrading to the truffle fries... and wow. Sooo good. The burger was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and everything you want from a smash-style burger. The truffle fries were absolutely worth the upgrade--crispy, indulgent, and hard to stop eating. Overall, a great first dinner experience post-renovation. We're excited to come back and try more of the dinner menu. Highly recommend checking it out!
