I was a bit shocked and disappointed since there were so many great reviews about this place! The food looked great when it came out, but the flavors did not quite meet expectations. The ribs were tender and nicely sauced but nothing particularly memorable. The brisket was soft but lacked flavor, and while the pulled pork was decent, the tri tip was extremely dry. The cornbread and beans were also underwhelming and could have used more flavor. The mac and cheese was the standout and easily the best item of everything ordered. I totally forgot about this place. I have been here years ago to pick up some sides for a family get together. My buddy asked me if I wanted to grab dome bbq and he chose this place. As I was driving, I missed the turn into the parking spot but there was another entrance right behind that wraps back to the lot. I did the same mistake when I came here the first time which is why I remembered this place once I arrived. There is a good amount of parking spaces. When you enter inside, there are two cashiers where one is for to go order and the other is for dine in. They have a soda fountain machine right behind the register that you can self serve and at the end, there are beers on tap. I decided to go for the 3 meat combo (tri tip, brisket, and ribs) which cane with two sides of your choosing (mac and cheese and potato salad). There are plenty of open seating when we went there around 3:30pm. The food came out pretty quickly. They have regular bbq and spicy bbq near the side door that you can get for your bbq. I tried the sides first and they still taste amazing like when I first tried it years ago. The brisket had a really good smokey flavor and was tender. The tri tip was juicy and packed a good flavor. The ribs were also really good. The meat did not slide off the bone as I'm use to but the meat on the rib was not dry at all. Dipping the meat in the spicy bbq sauce gave it more flavor if you like to use bbq sauce on your bbq. The staff were very helpful and didn't rush us when we were still trying to figure out what to order. There are to go boxes where the bbq sauces are which made it very convenient for both the customers and this allowed the staff to focus on the food and service. We placed an order for pick up on 4th of July, well in advance, knowing that it would probably be busy. By the time we went to pick up the order, there was a line of people that were already waiting, noting that some of the items would be sold out. When going to the register we were told that the brisket was sold out so the cashier was going to void it. Turns out the cashier ended up voiding our entire order. We sat there for 40 minutes expecting our order to come and when we went to go check on it we were told "oh sorry we voided your entire order when we voided the brisket and now we're sold out." Ordered the breakfast tacos through DoorDash. The meat was really good on the pork taco. The brisket taco was mostly fat. On DoorDash, it says "choice of egg", but there's no option to choose how you want your egg prepared, so it just comes with an over easy egg. Normally, over easy eggs are my favorite, but in a breakfast taco, it's just way too messy and difficult to eat. I was given a few recommendations for meats and even treated to a tour of their smokers in the back of the restaurant. It's quality smoking. Ambiance: it's nice to have a place offer indoor and outdoor seating. The tables and chairs were plentiful but a little dirty or dusty. Parking is also plentiful. Been wanting to try this bbq place! They have their own parking lot in the back and they have seats both inside and outside, very spacious. We ordered inside at the counter and found a seat outside. My ribs were fall off the bone tender and had such good flavor infused. It was delicious - the best BBQ I've had in quite a long time. The garlic bread was decent - I would have liked a better toast on it. The baked potato and coleslaw were fine - I would have liked the potato to be cooked a bit more and the coleslaw needed some seasoning, which are personal preferences, so it might be perfect for someone else. We've been a fan of Trail Dust for awhile and excited when South Winchester opened. Over the years they have just gotten better and better. I've tried almost all the different meats. Chicken can get dry so I don't order that anymore. The brisket and the pulled pork and the pork ribs are the winners. Sometimes the pork ribs are a bit dry but only sometimes. Sometimes they have pastrami and beef ribs. If you are lucky to order it, try it. It's good. They have a good selection of beers on tap. The service is good. When you do take out don't forget to ask for BBQ sauce, napkins, utensils to go or else they do not automatically provide. The bathroom is clean and there is more outdoor seating than inside. They have a reward program connected to your credit card or phone number which is cool and give $15 off for your birthday. As for prices they have increased a bit over the years but since this food is not to eat daily it's worth it every now and again and again. read more
