From the moment we met Scott, the owner, we knew we had struck gold and that our yard transformation would be amazing. Scott is creative, kind, insightful, thoughtful, humorous, and a precious gem. He is a clear communicator and keeps you in the loop every step of the way. He cares about you and his projects. He wants to please you and work hard to do that. He takes pride in what he does and you can see it all over East Sacramento where we live as he has numerous clients here. We expressed our ideas and Scott listened and then he opened our minds and imaginations to even better ideas. With his expertise, he explained what he thought our yard needed. His vision went beyond just planting flowers. He explained that our cottage style home needed structure and balance. He also wanted to make sure our yard art was properly incorporated into the overall design. His attention to detail is amazing. For example, he chose a beautiful shade of mulch that won't fade from the sun. Would have never thought of that detail! Scott worked hard to find the color of plants according to the colors we loved that were drought tolerant and pet friendly. Scott understood the last one since he's a dog dad himself. He had us meet him at Green Acres to see everything he chose for our front and back yard. He was excited to show us his plant treasures. And boy, does he know each plant! Scott wanted to find the perfect color and thickness of stone for our front patio. It took a bit, but he finally found it. He was tenacious! The crew showed up on my birthday. Led by the foreman, Gus, and they rock-n -rolled! The entire were crew and subcontractors wvery professional and knew exactly what they were doing so as not to hit any lines. They worked hard each day and cleaned up after themselves each evening. Scott also brought in Mike Richmond, a licensed general contractor, to build the fence for our front yard. He was meticulous and very professional. Scott had his concrete guy come and he did a beautiful job on the small curb along our property line between our yard and our neighbor's yard. Scott wanted it to look and function better than the normal plastic stuff from a garden store. The gentleman did a great job of getting it around our French drain outlet. Scott estimated three weeks for the job and finished in 10 days. There were a few tweaks that needed to be done after the overall job was finished, and they gladly came out to take care of those things. We got all the bells and whistles, like lighting and the fence. We were overjoyed with the final result. Scott and his crew created such a magical, peaceful sanctuary beyond our wildest dreams! We wasted $2000 on a design that was not our vision or what we had hoped for in our backyard. (I would have given 0 star rating) We were convinced to spend $2000 on a final design with the assurance that they understood our vision. The design was delivered to us after all fees were issued. This design was not a representation of what we desired nor a representation of what we discussed. To make it worse were were reminded that there are no agreements in place. Smooth talking cost us $2000 and we encourage that everyone keep a detailed account of your conversations and deliverables for financial transactions, and yes, don't forget to have that agreement in place. P.S. I should have paid more attention the 2.6 star rating on Google. Lesson learn't. read more

They charge $100 per hour consultation fees. This consultation service is to tell you that your yard sucks and bad jokes. We knew about the fees before we hired for the services. I can't blame them for that. What irritated me was that his recommendations contradicted with local nursery, soil/gravel company and on-line research and ideas were not even decent. read more

Scott is the best! We hired him in March 2011 to design and install our front yard. He did such a great job, we hired him again in September 2011 to do our backyard. Between my wife's taste for tropical/whimsical, and my taste for traditional/structured, he definitely had his hands full with us! Scott blended our two styles better than we could have ever imagined. His recommendations for mow strips, large pots, a dry creek bed, low maintenance plants, landscape lighting, etc were spot on! He is a master at his craft and a lot of fun to work with. His follow-up after the job is also tremendous. He often drives by to make sure everything looks good. We did not know Scott before we hired him but would now consider him a true friend and would not hesitate to recommend him to others. Update (Dec. 2014): We recently sold the above referenced home in 4 days and received multiple offers over the asking price. I am convinced that the yard Scott designed and installed for us added a great deal to its charm, curb appeal, and overall value. We met with him one time; my husband and I wanted to transform our dying front lawn to a rock garden "Santa Fe" style. He listened to us and we liked his personality right away. Scott was referred to us by a commercial landscape maintenance company whose owner had cross paths with Scott for the last 20 years. He came with a recommendation of being reliable and creative. We were not disappointed as he was very accountable for giving us a reliable estimate and then for our final payment decreasing the amount as he was under budget by several hundred dollars and was honest enough to state so and bill us accordingly . Each step of the project he was easily accessible either on -site or by phone to update us on what the next step of the project was as the layout transitioned from paper to earth. He also strongly encouraged us to go with him to the nursery to make sure his concepts and plant selection were meeting with the vision that we had on the project. Plant placement before the plants actually went into the ground was also a part of the project that he wanted our input to make sure it was meeting with our original vision. Each day of the project his crew who worked hard every day made sure the project was cleaned and swept and was not left in any kind of mess. And the project only took a few days to complete. Finally Scott was good enough to check back in with us a week after the project was completed to make sure the plants are doing well and to answer any questions that might have arisen during the first week after they had completed their work. We had Scott out to our home for an estimate. I had known of Scott through the years from seeing him out socially. We had a landscape designer design our yard so we had a professional plan to provide to him. When scot came out we were not sure of the attitude, he seemed nice in a way. We have a small yard but we are on a lake and we wanted it to be nice. We overlooked the attitude thinking maybe that was just his personality and he would still follow through with a cost for the project since we heard he does nice work. we provided him with a copy of the plans and he assured us that he would get back to us with a cost for the project. Weeks went by and we never heard back. We called and left messages and no response. He had a set of plans that we provided him and could have used but he never returned them. No response, no returned plans no nothing. He was one of the most unprofessional people we ever had out. The very least he should have told us he wasn't interested or just returned the plans. But nothing. We eventually got the wrk done by someone and it came out beautiful. The other estimates we had and did not choose at least returned our plans and were very professional. We definitely cannot recommend this company. read more
