I also really like how clean and sanity it is. I love the individual brass bowls with liners. You also see someone cleaning up as people are finished. It feels very hygienic and safe. I've had several pedicures by different nail techs and each time it has been amazing. I really like that they cut the nails just how you want. I like them short and at other salons they often don't cut them short enough. The scrubs and amazing. I always walk out feeling so much better than I did when I walked in. I had never gotten builder gel before. I had actually never done anything but regular gel. I love builder gel. It looks and feels great. Leemah is my go to. I thought the skincare focus of my pedicures was excellent. My feet and legs looked amazing. But, the nail polish was unevenly applied both times, with wavy edges and polish left on my skin. My last pedicure, there was also a nick in one of my nails that turned into a 1/2 inch split through the nail. First off, I want to say that the vibes and service here are amazing! When I walked in, I fell in love with the decor, furniture and all the plants! Everything in here was a vibe!!! My nail tech was super cool and we vibed out like she was someone I knew from back in the day! The other techs sitting next to me were also super welcoming and nice! I loved the ambiance, the good music and the good service! I left feeling good and happy with my nails. I booked an apt for a Friday at 1230pm so I could get the happy hour mani. I havent had my nails done in over 5 months so I went in there with boy hands. Although I left satisfied I did want to share that I was a little bummed out that my gel polish didnt last four whole days before it started receding and chipping. Today, the corner of my nail is chipped and is starting to lift. I also didn't realize until I got home (my fault) that I was over charged for my service. I booked for the happy hour mani with no add ons but noticed I was charged an additional $8 for gel removal when I didn't have anything on my nails prior. I am very diligent when it comes to nail aftercare so I know It couldnt have been something on my end that caused the chip so quickly after getting them done. I tipped my tech around 20% because I really enjoyed my apt with her. Again, im just a little sad/bummed that I paid around $93 for a simple mani (w/HH price) and my polish didnt last a week. Visited Smudge for the first time yesterday after seeing them featured on IG. I had a manicure and pedicure combination service performed by the lovely Tiffany G. The whole experience was relaxing and the whole staff were welcoming, professional, and friendly. Unfortunately the non-gel polish on my fingers was not cooperating during the service which led to it smudging more easily later that afternoon. I was able to rebook with Tiffany for today to have gel polish applied. They surprised me by only charging me for a polish change versus the express gel mani I booked which was a significant savings. First time visiting this salon, and I will say the ambience is beautiful. The interior is very aesthetically pleasing with comfortable couch-style chairs, thoughtful feminine touches throughout, and a nice bathroom setup. I especially liked the thick, moisturizing hand soap and the lotion aftercare options -- I chose the oatmeal honey lotion, which felt amazing on my skin. They also offer complimentary mimosas, which was a nice touch, although they were served in plastic cups and not filled very much. I also appreciated the detailed nail service menu with descriptions provided. I booked a builder gel fill with Ronda for a 12:30 PM appointment. Unfortunately, my overall experience was disappointing. I was there for about 3 hours, largely due to issues with the nail shape I requested. I repeatedly asked for a square shape, but the nail stylist seemed unsure how to achieve it and kept asking if a round shape would be acceptable instead. Eventually, another nail technician, Sho, had to step in and take over because I did not want to leave unsatisfied after spending so much time there. I paid $91 plus tip, splitting $10 between both nail technicians. Sadly, within only 4 days, my nails already began looking poorly done, with the cuticles lifting significantly. I also developed an itchy rash around each nail afterward, which concerned me, especially since I've experienced a similar reaction before that may have been related to sanitation practices. The salon also appeared disorganized and behind schedule. My nail stylist was running late, and during my visit there were multiple clients waiting for appointments. At one point, another customer returned because something had gone wrong with her nails and needed a repair, but she was left waiting while the technician continued with another client instead of communicating realistic wait times upfront. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and poorly managed despite the salon's beautiful appearance. While the atmosphere and aftercare products were great, the quality of service and time management unfortunately did not meet expectations. read more

How dare this company! I was sold on absolute BS! I was charged $100 for some gel polish to be painted over my nails that have since broke into pieces in just a few days. I feel like I got scammed in a major way. They talked to me into taking off my acrylic somewhere else and they were going to do "hard gel" which is way stronger. I decided to get a pedicure on my day-off on a whim (which, honestly, isn't the best plan especially with Summer and slipper weather in full force), but I was fortunate enough to get a same-day appointment at Smudge. Their atmosphere is very fun, colorful, green (for you plant parents out there), and welcoming. Miss Roberta was very warm and inviting and made me feel like I was supposed to be there (which you are and you deserve it!). I was offered Cucumber Mint water or Rosé (they don't judge) while I waited for Ying, my nail technician to set up for my service. I booked the "Busy Vegan Signature Pedicure" with regular polish. I had a plethora of choices for my scrub and lotion (I went with the Matcha scrub and Orange lotion). Ying was very gentle with my little piggies and did a good job of cleaning them up and making them look pretty. She also made sure that I was comfortable the whole process, which I greatly appreciated. I have had my pedicure for about 2 weeks now and it is still looking as great as Day 1! This is a testament to the high-performance Halal certified/Wudu friendly polish that they use. The one thing that greatly stood out to me while being services was the complete lack of chemical odors that you often experience in a regular nail salon. Smudge is completely toxic-free and I have to say, while that wasn't the selling point for me in choosing to go here, it will definitely be a reason I come back. read more

Just had the most amazing, relaxing mani + pedi! I recently found out about Smudge Nail bar, a new Black-owned nail salon located in the Arden area, across the street from Cal-Expo. They are currently open Wednesday-Sunday and have plans to extend their open days to Tuesdays as well, beginning mid-March. I checked out their website this afternoon and was able to book a same- day appointment for 3pm. Booking online was very simple & user friendly. You select your services and pay a deposit (which goes towards the overall cost of the total services). There's a variety of options to choose from for different manicures and pedicure treatments. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the very friendly owner, Roberta. Roberta reviewed the services that I had booked online & informed me that my nail tech would be Cassidy. Cassidy really took their time during the massage portion of the manicure & pedicure which I really appreciated. Both services did not feel rushed and I truly felt a sense of peace while cool music vibes played in the background. Roberta also offered me magazines to read. There's a snack bar area with complimentary goodies & lemon/ lime infused water. I was offered a glass of rosé. Sipping on rosé while getting relaxing nail treatments is the ultimate experience. The nail salon has a variety of foot scrub options such as matcha, blueberry, strawberry scents or a non-scented option. I selected the strawberry scent and it smelled delicious & felt so soothing. My feet still feel very moisturized. You can also choose a eucalyptus scented warm towel or a warm towel without a scent. Cassidy also did an excellent paint job on my natural nails. At the conclusion of each service, they sprayed rose water over my hands/ feet and the scent was so refreshing! Smudge is currently running a February happy hour special until 2/28 so I was able to add a free upgrade that included a cbd infused lotion. The cbd infused lotion made my feet/ legs feel super relaxed. The nail salon is extremely clean and decorated very thoughtfully with warm jewel tones, stylish art & plenty of plant greenery! Everyone in the salon was very welcoming & friendly. I was very impressed by the quality of service that I received and the high quality eco-friendly, non-toxic products used throughout my services. I ended up purchasing a gift card for my friend as well as some of their cuticle oil. I am looking forward to returning to Smudge nail bar for my future nail needs and highly recommend that others check out this lovely nail salon!! read more

Finally got to check them out and this whole place is a V I B E! The owner greeted me at the door and offered me water and wine. Asked me which service I'd like and sat me right away with a nail manicurist. The nail prep was very thorough and my gel nails lasted almost 3 freakin weeks! I got the bough bitch manicure and the sugar scribe smelled amazing and left my hands feeling so soft. There's no "nail salon smell" the polish is non toxic and some are vegan. The owner is very big on community and displays local art for purchase on her walls. Is hosting an art event where you can paint and sip. Has local made baked goods and fruits too! I found Smudge after doing a TON of research on local eco nail bars after the one I'd gone to previously changed ownership and honestly I'm glad my hand was forced and I had to find a new place because I LOVE Smudge. I don't get my nails done often, so I'm very particular. The owner, Roberta, is so knowledgeable and answered all of my clarifying questions on services and pricing. Speaking of pricing, it's so fairly priced! For example, there's tiered pricing for nail art and you only pay more based on the time it takes to complete your nail art. I love that! I got a colored french tip with a design on one nail on each hand and it was worth every penny! They also have a repair a nail service in case anything chips. The best part (aside from the aesthetic, the drinks and snacks, how kind everyone is, how clean everything is, and how sometimes there's A DOGGIE) is that when it came time to remove the gel from my nails, they weren't left feeling thin and brittle.
