This is absolutely the coolest mini golf experience of my life. I've never experienced a mini golf establishment that also offers an opportunity to feed their pet gators! These reptilians have quite the bite. We recommend gripping your fishing pole tightly. Once you've had fun feeding the alligators start your 18 hole mini golf experience that is pirate themed with running water, caves, and beautiful vegetation. The greens were in good working order. The presentation of the mini golf holes were fun and we used geometry to get holes in one. Definitely recommend this place. There are also drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic) for purchase as well as personalized golf balls. Sometimes there are coupons and that can help save some money. Sooo we love this place! We take all our friends here when visiting in town and play some golf, but the highlight of everyone's trip is feeding the alligators in the pit! I wanted to do a fun activity with my brother and sister in law, and this was the perfect place! We each got specialty balls, mine was SpongeBob and they weren't too pricey. The people working were very helpful with sizing the clubs and finding the balls we wanted. The course is pretty big and laid out in a way that's easy to follow. Smugglers Cove was a cool miniature golf course near St. Pete Beach that we stumbled across exploring. It has a pirate theme that fits the area well. The course is staggered over three levels and in the middle is a huge crocodile pit - yes, you read that correctly. Prices were a little high, but the whole family had a lot of fun and the holes were creative. They do have a snack bar and the facility is well maintained overall. A family tradition of ours is to play mini golf anywhere we travel! This place was especially interesting due to the alligator feeding and learning exhibit before hole 1. There is the option to buy 4 nuggets for feeding the alligators which is pretty fun (but that may not be everyone's thing). The holes are pretty simple so definitely good for families with smaller children. There are some good holes with different pathways depending which way you hit the ball. Also keep track of your hole-in-ones for a chance to win a free game at the end! The one thing I will caution for larger groups is that they will split up your group if larger than 4 people. My 3 sons were visiting and my middle son Tony regretted that he had no time to play golf, so we went to Smugglers Cove for 18 holes of mini-golf. Tony commented that it was a challenging course consisting of reading the greens instead of the usual run of the windmill joke holes like missing the fan to get through the obstructions. I don't tend to factor price into reviews very often, but I can't not do so with this one. Two adults, one kid, two beers, and we're 80% of our way to the one hundred dollar mark for an hour of family fun. I'm still going with four stars because it's a thoughtfully designed mini golf facility that has accomplished some amazing things in such a small amount of space, by building vertically. That being said, if you have any in your party with wobbly legs or balance issues, there really are a reasonable amount of narrow stair climbs here, so just be aware. The novelty of feeding alligators is a good one; they know to come over to the feeding area if people are there and they're feeling hungry, the rest just enjoy a day in the sun. Golf-wise, I could have used some more interesting obstacles than just rock forms and twists or turns. There were no moving obstacles or any true standouts. Pretty fun golf course. The gators are super cool but if you go in the winter don't buy the food! The gators are in brumation and don't eat thus your spending money for food that's just going to end up in the water and the gators are not going to pay you any attention not even a glance. My favorite activity by far is mini golf. This course is one of the best courses we have gone too. You get 18 holes that are all unique and slightly challenging, and you can even feed little alligators! I highly recommend spending the extra few dollars to get the gator food pellets to feed the little guys at hole 1. It's also very nice that you can purchase beers/seltzer's from the club house to drink while you play. They even have cup holders at every hole to hold your drink while you shoot. Fun 18 hole course with good size holes and lots of interesting tunnels (it was raining when we went, so they were lifesavers). As the name suggests, it is very similar to the pirates cove national chain, but I don't believe they are associated. So, we had quite an interesting experience at this location. My son and I enjoy doing photoshoots with our foster kittens, because it really helps us get them adopted quickly. We had an idea that a pirate themed photoshoot was in order. So we made our foster kitten a tiny pirate hat, collected a few other props and then set out to see if we could get Smugglers to allow us to do a little photoshoot on their pirate ship. At first, Kim told us no. Absolutely no animals allowed on the course. She was very polite about her "no." I asked if there was any way she'd allow us to just go out onto their balconies and take photos, with the pirate ship in the background? She was happy to allow us to do so, and boy, did we ever capture some seriously amazing shots of our little pirate kitten! We chatted with Kim a bit more afterwards, because she was such a friendly gal, and then took our foster kitten home. We really appreciate her being so kind and flexible. Being homeschoolers, I was really happy for the opportunity for my son to witness how a polite and kind negotiation should be handled. We returned about an hour or so later to do some putt putting, and were greeted very enthusiastically. However, Kim let us know that she wished she'd known we were coming back to play, because she'd have let us know they were doing construction and there was next to no water on the course...no waterfalls, etc. She offered us the chance to go to the other location, somewhat close by, or if we played there, we could play for free after our first paid round. Because we had such a bad experience at the other location, last time, and received no response to our complaint of how badly it stunk, we chose to stay at this location. We really do prefer this locations set up anyways. Kim explained that the smell at the other location was probably due to gator poop and warned we may smell the same thing there, as everything was drained down for cleaning and construction. But we only smell a little bit of a stench around the area that the gators are typically kept. This location really does feel cleaner and better kept than the Indian Rocks location. There are a lot of steps at this spot, so keep that in mind, if that's an issue for you. But it really is a gorgeous, yet fun course. There are several nice little shaded spots set up with places to sit, if you get caught waiting in line. We will drive a little further and frequent this location from now on. read more

This is a well designed course that offers some fun challenges for golfers and even non-golfers. Admittedly, golf is not my game but I really enjoyed working my way around this complex and trying to figure out when to bank the golf ball and when to just try to power it up and over bumps, around obstacles and keep it away from the corners. There is parking in the back which is convenient. The registration and payment process is quick and easy. And the choice of clubs and colored balls, plus a scorecard if you must, is all you need to get going. There is a small practice area that will give you a bit of a feel for how much drive it takes to get the ball rolling, so to speak. The July evening was actually enjoyable with little humidity and nice nice are movement that kept us cool and comfortable. While crowded, there was a nice flow as groups worked their way through each hole, range the bell when finished and moved on to the next spot. It had been decades since I last put foot on a putt putt golf course and Smugglers Cove was a fun way to return and relive some golfing memories of old. Nice way to enjoy being outdoors, walk a bit and let a bit of skill and luck get you sinking some putts. read more
