First time in Houston…read more.. While visiting a friend and just landed we decided to grab lunch here. It just opened she told me, but we both were excited to try this restaurant. It looked gorgeous inside since it was too hot to sit outside. We both ordered a few glasses of wine and a salad. It took awhile for our drinks to arrive. It felt like forever. So I guess I will say service was not the best. Our salads were delish! We both ordered the Chicken & Avocado Salad. A bit on the expensive side. A great new restaurant to check out while visiting Houston. They did have a nice wine menu as well.

They were very on top of service with both our dining captain and waiter checking on us throughout the evening. For appetizers we ordered the deviled crabs, tuna tostada and wood roasted carrots. All were great but I especially loved the carrots which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. For my main course I had the chicken and dumplings, husband got the NY strip, our friends shared the whole fish and we had the cabbage and crab rice as sides. Everyone was very happy with both their main courses and the side dishes. We were too stuffed to order dessert but they sent out a s'mores inspired sunday for my birthday which was both thoughtful and sublime. Overall we were very impressed with our meal. While the menu is somewhat limited, everything we ordered came out hot, fast, and really tasty. Everyone in our group enjoyed their burgers, and I especially loved the Brussels sprouts, shrimp salad, and the crab puffs. Parking can be a bit of a hassle in the area, but there is a parking garage adjacent to the restaurant which makes it manageable. However, I will say that the new battle of the board is not Great like I remember. The food was average: not bad but not great either. Standard nachos, sliders, pasta, salad or burger choices. I got sliders and my friend got nachos. Both were ok. The $3 iced tea seemed overpriced. Lunch is only $7. There are lots of TVs going which is cool but one had the volume too loud, in my opinion. Made conversation difficult in an otherwise empty place. By the time we left only two other tables had patrons and they all entered with no direction and since we were sitting near the door, asked us where to sit (we just said anywhere). Eventually the server saw them and took them menus. Personally, I'd skip it for lunch and maybe try a Happy Hour when, hopefully, they're staffed. Disappointing since I frequent the area for work once a week.
