Been coming here for 15+ years. Thankfully the rest of the bars arent as clueless as this one. It's really gone to crap lately.

Cool place that I went to late night. Did the outdoor seating. Waiter was attentive. The complementary popcorn was so good! I feel like it was better than movie theater popcorn for some reason. My Aperol Spritz was also a hit! Shout out to Reggie. He was an amazing host! Would definitely return to try out more drink specials.

And now a word about Snafu. Jamie W and I were killing our last hour in Midtown East. We just happened on this darkish watering hole which was empty in the middle of a weekday afternoon. Providing much needed life was Natalie, a great bartender and as warm and vivacious a personality as you can find in the wilds of Manhattan. She made us a pair of fine $12 Espresso Martinis (photo: https://yelp.to/DCC4Zv3JCL), while she regaled us with stories about her opinionated relatives. When we come back east the next time, we be here. COCKTAILS - 4 stars...she made a potent espresso martini with style AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...darkish but a chill vibe SERVICE - 4.5 stars...hope all the bartenders are like Natalie TOTAL - 4 stars...no snafu from what we could tell RELATED - Thirsty in NYC? An amazing gem near the Lexington Hotel--perfect for relaxing and having cocktails with friends while in town! The place is beautiful and cozy, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Definitely check this place out!

Great service, If you're in Midtown East, Snafu Bar is a must! The atmosphere is always fun, and the bartenders are beautiful and super welcoming. It's easily one of my favorite spots for a guaranteed good time, highly recommend checking it out!

A good place to be after work. The music bounces like fresh popcorn, the bartenders are fast to bring you another round when you are near empty. I wish AAA was that good when you run out of gas on the highway. Polina and Ulga took care of me tonight behind the bar. These amazing bartenders are fast, efficient, and provide service with a smile. I watched them serve the entire bar in minutes (that's pretty good). Mads is always zooming around around with a smile on her face bringing you round after round. She is diligent , hard working, and will have your next drink in your hand before you can say "uno mass". I recommend this spot to come for sports and drinks without breaking the bank.

End of bar, near popcorn machine.

Stopped in here while in the city for a family event. Was exactly what I was looking for! Excellent vibe, good cocktails and fresh popcorn. Music selection was on point as well. If you're staying nearby and want a local place with low key vibes, check them out.

Great casual spot in midtown near grand central station! I came here on a Wednesday evening with a friend to have a couple post dinner drinks and they had good drink specials. We had a margarita ($12) and a glass of wine ($10) and they also provide complimentary popcorn when you arrive as well which was very nice. I enjoyed the vibe and the music and was a good spot to catch up with a friend where you don't have to spend too much $$$ in midtown (very spacious-bar area/lounge area/downstairs area).

Pitcher of GUINESS , and a Dewars ginger ale! And also free popcorn!

Depending on how long guests stay sometimes those seats are available as a first come first served so we were lucky. Our server was great and she explained the menu. The oyster miso was quite a stand out for me. All of the fish prepared was delicate and lovely. The Parker rolls were soft and a nice complement. My friend who is less adventurous with seafood opted for their shrimp tempera roll, which was as good as you could make a shrimp tempera roll. Well prepared as well as their charcuterie board which we could not finish after everything. It was a memorable night I won't forget with nice entertainment and great staff. (This review is concerning the Round Table restaurant section of the Algonquin- part of the issue…read moreis it's really not clear where the Blue Bar ends and the Round Table begins! It's all the Algonquin, so..) It's a rough realization to learn that one more former New York institution has slightly fallen from grace. The Algonquin is storied and imposing, with a history that should demand respect- at least, it used to be. Now, it's another cool building in midtown that you could easily walk right by. I visited tonight for a quick dinner before a show; nothing extensive. The food was ultimately fine (overpriced) but the service was poor. From the two people sitting at the front desk who didn't bother to pause their conversation to direct us when we walked in, to the server who walked over and literally said "Hi. What do you want?" when we sat (ourselves, by the way) to the gentleman by the door who never looked up from his phone as we left, my overall impression is a burnt out and disinterested staff who has absolutely no interest in even pretending to care about an atmosphere of hospitality. My partner's burger was good, well cooked; my turkey sandwich looked like something that had been purchased from a suburban deli and cut into triangles. (I was unimpressed that for $32, they couldn't even spare the expense of a nice ciabatta and instead stuck with WonderBread style Country White.) The French fries were good, and there were plenty. I will credit the fact that once we moved sections to escape a noisy table neighbor, a second waiter attended to us who was much kinder. I was, however, slightly bemused when I asked for a side of mayo and got handed an all-but-empty Hellman's squeeze bottle. Overall- confusing is the word. If you're a New Yorker fan, stop by for a cocktail and fries- but be prepared to seat yourself.

This is the replacement for both the old Blue Bar and the former Round Table Restaurant…read more Even though the two former venues have been combined in theory, the resulting space is much smaller. The old Blue Bar was much larger, had a separate entrance, and far more blue, everywhere. The new one has just a faint streak of blue neon above the bar. The old Round Table had two rooms. The drinks are good but the quality of service from the bartenders varies greatly. Some are friendly and helpful, others not. The grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup was excellent, but a tiny portion for $25.

We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. That drink was legit and had nice strength. The food was great too.
