Very fun happy hour spot. Steak nachos were a hit since all parts were piled high. Jalapeños, black beans, mixed cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and steaky steak. Party took to an abrupt stop since tons of people had to catch their corresponding trains to Jersey (curse you Port Authorities!). We blame this one on Terry for not showing up. Tempura onion rings were good, but they ran out of Chipotle Mayonnaise so there was only ranch and a wedge of lemon on the plate. Old fashioned with Redemption was the choice tonight #wdrinks. So I will say I chose a different place a week ago but it was just substandard....but I made the right decision and gave District Tap House a try and boy was I impressed. This place is pretty large (from outside you don't think it's as big as it is). The bar is huge and there are ample tables in the restaurant. There is also a second bar behind the curtain all the way in the back (it seems like that bar is reserved for private parties). Make sure you make a reservation it was only fairly busy when I arrived but quickly became crowded. Most of the tables upon leaving had the reserved placards on them. Our waitress was very efficient and helpful.......I was stumped on which entree to choose and she advised that the chicken sandwich was delish and she nailed it. By far the BEST fried chicken sandwich I have had in years, lightly breaded and straight out the skillet (it was bought to me piping hot) with a side of fries with a whisper of sea salt.....10 out of 10 on this dish. Our waitress was on point, we never had to ask for anything she kept checking on us and refilling water and making sure our needs were met (sorry I forgot her name). My friend order the chicken wings (and to my shock, he normally doesn't share lol) and they were crunchy with just the right amount of spice. I appreciate that although you can choose a dipping sauce that it wasn't actually on the wings (sometimes it's just too much sauce for my liking). Came across this spot as we wanted to be near Penn Station (10 min walk away) and was impressed with how large the space was (looked small from the outside) and their take on upscale bar food. They have a HH from 4-7 with a $12 jalepeno margarita, $10 house wines and $6-$8 drafts. We tried the goat cheese croquettes which were phenomenal- the Aleppo honey sets it apart! Great spot to watch LA Chargers football! Went to this bar to watch the Chargers playoff game and it was a great environment! As a Chargers fan in NYC, there aren't a lot of dedicated spots for Chargers fans. The drinks are good and reasonably priced and the food was very good as well! We came here for some drinks after work and had a good time. We actually got it confused with the District Social House nearby, but all ended up at the same place eventually. The inside vibe is wood walls and dark-ish and there were a ton of people there, so energetic. There are the perfect amount of TVs, not too many that they are covering the walls, but also not just one small one in the corner. We grabbed the front area to the left right when you walk in for our large party of 12. From there, we got a bunch of apps and they all came out in a reasonable amount of time. Had a great time here 2 different nights on a recent 3 day trip to NYC. The first night, I enjoyed their Happy Hour that went till 7 with the solid German Hef and also had the burger. Incredible meal after a long day of travel. The last night I was there, was with a much larger group and had a few drinks and the nachos. Also very solid as well. Stopped in here for an afternoon snack and to wet our whistles. It was pretty low key but we loved it. The Irish bartender (wish I knew her name) was fantastic. Fun, upbeat, attentive and funny. It has a sports bar vibe with more of a restaurant feel (more table seating than bar seating). The food was absolutely delicious, even though it was bar food. Think of upscale bar food. We split the hot wings, which had an incredible homemade sauce on them, and the cheese curds that were so rich and full of flavor (the honey was unique and awesome). I know they're a tap house, but they were too heavy on the IPA selections. I want more ambers lol, but beggars can't be choosers. read more

TL;RD: Recommended. Good section of beers, good food, excellent ambiance, would repeat. ***Ambiance*** I loved the dark wood, low light ambiance of this place. A good combination of modern and classic. The floor place was clean and the tables were well-separated. They have options for both booths and high tops. A good place for large groups. I noticed that a couple of high tops along the median of the room can seat 10-12 people (5 per side). ***Staff*** Both the check-in staff and the server were friendly. We got seated immediately after arrival. Didn't have to wait long for placing our orders. Our server was friendly and prompt. She was knowledgeable about the food items, but lacked depth when it came to the beer menu. Of course, this is not a criticism, just an observation. Not everyone in this world is a beer snob, and maybe she likes wine more than beer. ***Drinks*** They have a good selection of beers. Multiple types on tap. They have cans and bottles as well. I have a strong preference for draft beers and didn't explore the bottled/can option. I went with the flight of 4 IPAs (see pics for names) to decide on the direction for the evening. ***Food*** We ordered steak tacos, buffalo wings, onion rings, and veg. pizza. The wait time was approximately 10-15 mins. All the food was served hot. The chicken wings were superb and went very well with the beer. The steak tacos were edible, but not repeatable. They were a little low on the flavor, and the lack of toppings (pic attached) made the low quality of meat obvious. I would claim it to be a skirt steak of a really really long skirt. For my next visit, I would swap out the tacos with wings. ***Overall*** I had a good experience at this location, and I would repeat. I loved the overall ambiance of this place. Tidy and non-chaotic. The lighting was obviously done by someone who knew what they were doing. I have marked it as one of the places to bring a large group. The fact that they accept reservations is a plus. Came here because it was near our hotel after we had a long flight. Place was lively, with lots of people. Did not have a res and literally got the last table in the back which was perfect for us (on a Tuesday around 9 pm). Wanted to share a couple things and call it a night. We split the meatballs and chicken sandwich. The meatballs were fantastic with the crusty bread slices. The chicken sandwich was not what we were expecting...almost like a deli sandwich with thick sliced deli chicken. It was served on a bun but did not hold well togther.
