If you didn't know it was sandwiched (pun intended) between two amazing restaurants (Marukin and Nong's), you might not know of it's existence. You also will be missing out on one of the better sando places in town. Though it be small, it is mighty. I had the Beef and Cheddar and it was most definitely worth it. Cooked, sliced beef, with Tillamook extra sharp white cheddar with sautéed onions, fried onions and a horsey sauce. There was nothing wrong with it. Paired with Utz Crab chips (from PA) and it made my afternoon. Obviously, with the current times, they are to-go only and you can order in person, by phone or through third party delivery. The menu is eclectic, and they have a second business out of there doing chicken wings. I believe called Blazers Wings. So, support the little shops right now, they need our help the most. I've heard a lot of good things about this place, unfortunately wasn't my favorite due to several factors. 1. There is no seating area inside of this shop. There might be outside but sometimes the weather will not permit for that, plus they share a space with a ramen spot so the seating is mainly for them. 2. The day I went they seemed to have been fully staffed. The shop wasn't busy but it took an average of about 40 min. to get my food, and whoever was working the register was incredibly rude Overall, this spot was just okay. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and we come from out of state, but we come to Oregon a few times a year. We knew that we had to finally try this place out and it did NOT disappoint. It was SO delicious. We ordered a Patty Melt and the Turkey Club and they were both AMAZING. Patty melts are one of my favorite things ever and this was probably the best one that I've ever had. Also, the Turkey Club is not something to sleep on. The sauce, the dressing, all of it together, it was AMAZING and so flavorful. Hands down some of the best sandwiches that we've all ever had. Been there twice - one stay in and one take out. Great ambiance with retro 90s vibes meats deli counter. My fave was the albacore tuna melt and the combo sandwich with all the meats I forget the name, plus they have Good Pickle there and Utz chips. Service is great you order at the counter and take a seat or get it to go. You bus your own table. Heads up though - only 3 tables inside. It's hard to find a good sandwich shop these days, but this place knows how to make 'em! I had the "Trilogy" and curly fries. They aren't stingy with the order of fries (I still have more than half of mine leftover), and there's something about that pickle relish on the sandwich that sends the flavor over the top! Snappy's has debuted in the upper echelon of sub shops in Portland. They not only have the staples I grew up with, but they make the sandwiches with some finesse. East coast transplant here. Can't say how disappointed I have been by most sub shops in PDX. You'd think a sandwich would be a hard thing to mess up. With the food scene being so good PDX should have amazing sandwiches. Snappy's is a game changer. I like how they make the standards right. Nothing ultra fancy. Just damn good. We were going to eat at Nong's next door, but the wall of Utz potato chips drew me in. This place reminds me of my time in New York. The bodega old school décor and the sandwich options make me feel that type of way. They have like 10 plus sandwiches to choose from. Tried 4 Pointers before I can grab a photo but the sandwich is good for what it is. I'm not really an Italian sub person but the proportion of meat to bread was good. Unfortunately I also had the Chicken & Rice next door while trying the sandwich and when the two are compared, prices seem to be hard to compare so that's why I'm docking a point. Portland Sandwich Week, my first time at Snappy's. So I haven't had any of their regular sandwiches, just the special and a soup, to go. Gotta say, Sandwich Week made me aware this place exists. I ride by it all the time, and I knew about restaurants on each side of it in the same building, but had no clue about Snappy's. It's retro, many reviewers note. But retro to what? Someone said '90s but I think maybe '70s is more like it? It feels like a chain, although it's not. The menu, graphics, even the name, all seem like something that could be duplicated and reproduced. But it has much better beverage and ice cream selection than any other sandwich shop! Hard to take your eyes off the coolers while waiting for your order. There are tables outside, a seating complex they share with the other two restaurants. I don't think there is any inside seating. The service was friendly and attentive. Their Sandwich Week special, Pastor Sandwich, was interesting but didn't quite work. It involved chunks of grilled, marinated pork on a soft roll, topped with chipotle mayo, a runny green salsa, and pieces of chicharron (pork rind) on a soft butter roll. The flavors went well together but there was one big flaw: the chicharron becomes soggy from all the sauce. I presume it was crispy when assembled, and the idea was you'd get the crunch. Now, I did take it to go. But I took it for only a 10-min bike ride, then maybe 5 minutes later I was tearing into it. And it's such a saucy sandwich, I think that chicharron would have lost its crunch within a minute or two after serving. The soup, pozole, needed salt and hot sauce. It tasted fine after I doctored it up. I would try this place again, even though I wasn't dazzled by the food on this visit. read more

Great little sandwich spot I paid a visit to with the fam on Saturday afternoon. Interesting set up. It's in between two other food spots. Counter service only and self seating outside in a patio area they set up in front of the building. I ordered the The 4 Pointer which has mortadella, salami, soppressata, capricola, provolone, mayo, mustard, hoagie spread, lettuce, onion, tomato, and pepperoncini. Very tasty. Ohhhh man oh man! My boyfriend and I ordered Snappy's last night for dinner and it did NOT disappoint! I thought about going to pick it up but it was pouring down rain and my laziness set in. They use DoorDash to deliver, even from their website and they were QUICK! They arrived exactly when they said they would and the sandwiches were perfect. First off...Patty melt all the way!!! Snappy's is a pretty cool food spot, it's hidden between 2 really busy restaurants and the decor is to die for. Really like the VHS collection and overall retro feel to the shops design. The food is nothing crazy new or innovative but that's what I love about this place. The foods tasty and it has an overall good vibe to it which I beleive adds to my favoritism. The 4 Pointer sandwich had a really great combination of flavors of meat and cheese and vegetables. It was very flavorful definitely would order this one again. If you're not good with spice make sure you order with a drink too! I was very hungry and it filled me up. I split a Turkey Bacon Club sandwich with my husband before a hockey game one afternoon, and got an order of curly fries. DELICIOUS. The fries were hot and crisp and perfect (not too much/too little salt). Sammy was plenty big enough to share. The bread was a little crisp on the outside crusty, which was a nice contrast to the soft interior. Good flavors, and a good price point. It's a tiny little shop with only about 10 seats at 4 tables. LEGIT! I love me some sandwiches, and as the newest player in the "things between slices of bread" game, Snappy's isn't effing around. From a teeny tiny little space they are serving some seriously delicious selections that you really out to get out and try before they get so popular there's a line around the door. Today I had the beef and cheddar, a (delightful) gut bomb of a sandwich that I'll be thinking about the rest of the day. It was loaded with onion and horseradish, so about the only time I'd suggest not getting this sandwich is right before a make out party. If kissing isn't in your immediate future, do yourself a solid and get this sandwich. And you know what else I like? Curly fries! This place serves up some seriously delicious curly fries that have officially made my Arby's cravings a thing of the past. So maybe not the healthiest of lunch options, but a damn good option nonetheless. I'll work my way through my menu and report back with any additional findings. PS - they're all set up for carry out and delivery orders, which might be the way to go. It's not the biggest space, so eating it at home or work is probably better than gambling on finding a table during the rush. read more

It may be a little difficult to locate Snappys - but it's tucked away in the lobby between the ramen shop and Nong's. You can't miss the unique and retro decor!! I got the turkey sandwich and they graciously let me try some of their wings - both were absolutely amazing! I loved how the lettuce on the sandwich was tossed in dressing so it wasn't just a mouthful of bland iceberg lettuce. Nope. It was super flavorful! Super cool hole in the wall type place to grab some tasty sandwiches. The interior is small with only 3 tables if you decide to dine in. Its worth it as they play some old school movies on the small TV that takes VHS tapes. I came when they were showing Free Willy (had to stay and watch the iconic part of the movie). Back to the food.... the sandwiches are reasonable priced with some good options. I opted for the hot beef and cheddar sandwich as it was a cold day. The sandwich was super tasty with the crunchy fried onion rings and it worked with the horseradish cream. Wedged next to Nong's Khao Mon Gai, this tiny sub shop makes one of the best East coast type Italian subs I've had on the west coast. They have PA connections and chips making the mid Atlantic style subs and a fun decor. Can't wait to come back and try more. read more

Alright, I'm from the East Coast, NJ to be precise so I have heavy opinions on sandwiches. So when you get to Portland and are trying to get a good East Coast style sub it's a bit of a chore and everybody loves to make sandwiches on "rustic bread" or whatever the hell out here. You got Taste Tickler, which is OG and you can't say anything about them (they are good though), then you got DeMarco's who I mess with heavy but there sandwich is alittle more like Italian Deli style and they use hard bread which isn't my go to. Then I hit up Snappy's... brahhh it's like a dope Quick Chek or Wawa's sandwich. The sub roll is like a thin and flaky shell and the flavors are great. I think they are sneaking up as my favorite sandwich in town. The cookies and soup are great too. read more
