Not great experience this time around. The cut was rushed which caused the little one to get very upset. Very little interaction to get everyone comfortable. The cut also came out uneven as he got the buzzer treatment rather than scissors. Disappointed since our previous experiences were pretty good. Never will I go here again! I have been here with my kids many times over the years and tolerated the mediocre haircuts and long waits for a scheduled appointment because my kids love the lollipops and cheap prizes (and there used to be a couple of nice stylists). [[HIGHLIGHT]]But, most recently we were 10 minutes late for an appointment due to excessive traffic. We were told by an extremely rude manager that we could not be seen because their policy was only to hold the appointment for 9 minutes because their haircuts each take 6 minutes, despite the fact that no one was waiting for the next appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's a surprising policy since they often have made me wait 20 or 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. Booked an appointment on a Monday afternoon. Stylist put a cape on my daughter that had someone else's wet hair caked on it. The chair was covered in other clients' hair, too. Disgusting. My kid has never been afraid of haircuts before, but the stylist was so rough with her that she cried the whole time. We came here for my son's first haircut. He was seen by Taneisha who was incredible. She made him feel comfortable and made it fun for him and his big sister. All of the staff were super friendly and the environment of the salon is fun for children. To book an appointment, there is a sign up for a time slot online. You can only book the day of. If booked online, you cannot book days ahead of time. You can either see any stylist or choose a specific stylist. At the end of the haircut, my son and daughter were given a card that shoots out a prize. It was so fun for them! We will definitely be back! read more

This was a really bad haircut for my 8 year old son. This was the worst haircut he's ever had. We typically go to snip it's and have really great haircuts, which is why we go there. Probably about 4 times per year since my son has been 2 years old. The stylist , Terry, had no idea what she was doing. My husband asked for a two at the bottom with gradual fade with scissors on top. He left with part of the skin near his ear nicked and what looked like a line around his entire head. It looked like she cut him with a bowl around his head, it was that bad. And I can't blame it on my son, he is calm and still while getting a haircut. He's 8! She was impatient from the start (it was her last haircut before closing although we were there 3 min before our scheduled time) and was so aggressive with my son's 5 min haircut. She just kept pushing his head around and around to get the haircut done asap. When I got home, there was a razor burn in the back of his neck from her aggressive haircut. Haircut itself looks pretty good, I won't lie. But the experience was terrible. Her comment was "don't worry; they won't remember." He might not but I do. I should have read these reviews before taking my son for a haircut. This was my son's second haircut. He had a great first experience. I just moved to this area and I hoping to have a similar experience. I asked for a trim and he ended up with his hair chopped. She was clearly in a hurry to move with the next person and I didn't realize how horrible it looked until we got home with his hair thoroughly dried. He will be attending his brother's graduation with a hole in his hair now. I asked for a refund and still waiting for someone to get back to me. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR 2 YEAR OLD THERE! I made an appointment for 3:30, (after our little's nap), I walked in 8 minutes late and the woman behind the desk started barking at me saying "Oh no! We aren't taking appointments. We're done!" She didn't ask if we had an appointment, she just assumed we were a walk-in. I looked at my watch and said, "I'm only 8 minutes late for our appointment. You close at 4 and still can't take him?" She barked at us again and this time it upset my two year old who I was holding. While I was strapping my little into his car seat, I noticed the entire staff walking out at 3:45 and they close at 4. The woman there was rude, had zero compassion and only wanted to leave work early. If the women there don't want to work until 4, then don't allow for 3:30 appointments. Parents with young kids will always be a few minutes late because toddlers aren't always easy going no matter how far advance we plan things. We usually take our 4 year old there as well and they lost two costumers that day. read more

Go elsewhere! Every time I book an appointment I end up having to wait an hour- half hour. I have a toddler and let's be serious it's not easy to get a child to relax and wait in a car. The last time I went they rescheduled me due to not having time to cut my child's hair even though I schedule an appointment. They then put me in for the next day and of course I ran into the same issue. They told me to wait a half hour - 45 min. Debbie (or Deb as my son calls her) is incredible!! My 4 year old son has some sensory challenges and high anxiety when it comes to getting his haircut. Debbie worked with us on ways to make him more comfortable, helped set up a number of desensitizing visits, and ultimately has built an amazing bond with him. She worked hard to gain our son's trust (no easy feat!) and the best part of working with her has been her kindness, patience and sensitivity to his needs. A few months ago we decided to pay for an annual membership, so that we could reserve an appointment instead of waiting for hours every time. A few months later the Chestnut Hill location relocated to Dedham. It is never easy to get appointment at Snip-It because of their obsolete reservation system, and when we do somehow manage to get the appointment, we are made to wait several minutes. In our case this time, after we waited for 20 min, they let some other kid who came much later go before us because their "system" showed that kid's name first EVEN THOUGH we both had exactly same time's appointment! My son is not always a fan of getting his haircut, so I wasn't sure how this was going to go - but from the moment we walked in the door, we had a great experience with our hairdresser, Taneisha. She made Riley (and me) feel really at ease, and told us she's a kindergarten teacher and has 2 kids of her own, and said she knows how to make kids feel comfortable. She let Riley sit on my lap, played his favorite son (Baby Shark) and give him some treats to keep him occupied. She even blew bubbles when he was getting fidgety, which he loved! Went there for the second time Sunday. My 3 year old had terrible experiences at past salons (our fault for not going to a place specializing in kids right away). Both times we went, the ladies were phenomenal with my son. Pretending to cut the the hair on his stuffed animal.... It really did the trick! The iPads for cartoons are super helpful too. The haircut was -- truly -- incredibly bad, and a lot of the other bad experiences people have written about sound a lot like ours. I provided a photo and tried to communicate what we wanted, but things just weren't getting through. Normally I trust a stylist to know what he or she is doing, but sadly that was far from the case here. Had my husband or I attempted to do the haircut, there is no way we could have done such a poor job. I'll be going back to the other salon where we had our child's first haircut done. When we got to our turn my son got the worst haircut of his life and his experience was so bad that it will take us a while to cut his hair again. All parents please avoid at all cost. Unless you are vocal and explicitly clear, this place is a bit like an assembly line where all the kids get the same quick clipper cut. The quality of the cut depends on the stylist, so don't be afraid to request one you like. Bring a photo if you want something specific. Please do not trust your child with them. Terrible Terrible Experience. Yesterday My husband took my kid to have a hair cut with them as my child was going back to school today. Christine cut my childs hair and she left a bald spot near his forehead. I saw it the moment they came home and when I called to report it they said that the dad never complained and further that they did not see anything when my child left their salon. I told the management that my child is a preschooler but if he was older he would not have wanted to go to school at all or worse he could have been bullied in school due to his hair. They should let the hairdresser know that a mom had pointed it out. However, the response I got was not helpful at all. I will never return but I am leaving a review here so that any other customer would be careful when trusting them with any work. Good Luck ! read more
