The Snooty Fox on Lake Forest Dr. is one of our top go to restaurants!! We love going here, it's kind of our favorite place, especially if we want some really good home-cooked food. Now I could tell you to go for breakfast because their breakfast menu is out of this world. This is the quintessential greasy spoon. Hubby and I shared the huevos divirsiados. I wouldn't order them again. The eggs were cooked to order but there wasn't nearly enough of the red or green sauce. It was essentially a fried egg on a dry tortilla with a teaspoon of Mexico on it. Very disappointing. The beans were good. And the hash browns were OK. Nothing we ate would make me come back. And there was nowhere to put Hubby's walker. It is definitely not handicap friendly. Came here recently because I was in the area. It's a really laid back atmosphere. Definitely a cafe style. The service was friendly. The portion sizes was generous. But I don't think breakfast for 2 should cost around $60. Between the two of us, all we did was order bacon, eggs, sausage, toast, and hash browns. We did order orange juice, which came in a really small cup and also a glass of iced tea. That was it, close to $60. For that price, I can order enough for 4 people and still have change left over at a breakfast cafe around my house. If the food was really good, I can justify the $60. But it was pretty average, nothing special. I could have made the same at house. If you read my other reviews, I've been to places around the OC that can totally justify $60 for breakfast, but this is not one of them. read more

If you want a good meal I recommend the country fried steak plate but if you are someone with a sweet tooth I recommend the deep fried apple pie French toast. I ordered both and they both surely didn't disappoint. Service is amazing from the staff who are very friendly and smiles all around. The ambiance is very calm not too quiet and not too noisy as everyone there usually is a group of 2-4 per table. I am all about supporting small businesses but not used to paying these prices for mediocre food. **Disheartening Experience at a Long-Time Favorite** I've been a frequent patron of Snooty Fox for years, but after my recent visit, I'm sad to say I may not return. This was my first negative experience here, and unfortunately, it was upsetting enough to overshadow all previous positive ones. After a short wait, my party -- which included my two young grandchildren -- was seated. Several minutes passed before I had to flag someone down just to request coffee and water. A visibly disgruntled male server brought coffee, but no water, and walked off without a word. I noted that three separate tables seated after us were promptly served with both coffee and water -- and, shortly after, with their food. Twenty minutes went by with no further service at our table. Frustrated, I asked another server (not assigned to us) for help, and she tracked down the server responsible for our table. When he arrived, his attitude was indifferent and dismissive. To make matters worse, during a later visit to our table, this same server muttered racial insults in Spanish -- which I understood. That kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable anywhere, let alone in a place of business. Eventually, our original server returned with our food -- cold. My plate arrived last, nearly five minutes after the rest of my family had been served. My French toast was cold, and at that point, I'd lost both my appetite and patience. I left the food untouched and asked for the check. The only bright spot in this visit was the helpful server who wasn't even assigned to our table. She asked why I hadn't eaten and took steps to have the cold meal removed from the bill. I appreciated her professionalism, and I still left a tip out of respect for her efforts. In the end, I paid for an unpleasant experience and took the cold French toast home -- which I gave to my dogs, since I'd been treated with about the same level of regard. They offer classic breakfast dishes including custom omelettes , burritos, sandwiches, French toast, etc. It's not fancy but the prices are mid to high in my opinion. I don't usually take breakfast food for leftovers so I'd prefer an option with smaller portions that are less expensive especially since I probably wouldn't go for the ambience. I don't usually write a review on my first try at a restaurant. Normally I have to go 3 times before I will post a review. I was taken here by an old work colleague as we try to get together once a month for breakfast. We alternate turns on who picks the restaurant and I'm glad he suggested The Snooty Fox. Please note that I have no problem coming back after my 3rd time and updating my rating, as I have for other reviews. Julie was a fantastic server and very attentive. Always made sure that our coffee and water was filled and that everything was good. One of the reasons why I really enjoyed my visit today was the customer service experience. I informed Julie that it was my first time there and I was looking for some suggestions. What are you known for, what seems to be popular, etc... So, then she asked if I trust her? I said yes, and she said she had an idea of what I might like. I then gave her a couple of my go-to breakfasts that I love, and I told her that I was not afraid of a spice level of 8 out of 10. But, if it is spicy, it has to be flavorful, not just hot for the sake of being hot and spicy. She appreciated the input and thought that she knew what she wanted to bring me for breakfast. My friend knew more of what he wanted and ordered accordingly, LPT- One of my favorite things to do is to go to a restaurant and tell the chef or the waitstaff "Chef's Choice" for the meal. I do set some parameters, steaks/lamb medium-rare, no liver or organ dishes and not a fan of cauliflower. This, for me, has always enhanced the experience. I have tried and been exposed to dishes that I might not have ever ordered on my own. It lets the chef decide what best represents their establishment or if they have something special on the menu. I do like a surprise. I told these things to Julie, and she just laughed and said thankfully that they had no liver, organs, or cauliflower in the restaurant. So, we were good to go. I let her choose and anticipated something fun. She ended up bringing me the Chorizo omelet, rice, beans and corn tortillas. Please see the picture attached. My friend had the Snooty Fox Extra breakfast. The chorizo was really good, not super greasy like you get in some places. She said that the rice and beans were from scratch that morning. The salsas were good and flavorful and the whole dish was a 3-4 spice level. It was terrific. My friend also really enjoyed his breakfast, he said everything for him was spot-on too. The decor is kind of old, eclectic and funky, but very, very fun. Kind of like me, so I really enjoyed it. The place has a little character to it and is not pretentious in any way. The portions are a good size, the prices are reasonable for what you get, the decor is fun to look at and the service was top-notch. I would recommend giving it a try if you haven't been there yet. read more

Husband had eggs, turkey sausage and 'those' potatoes. He said the potatoes looked like frozen hash browns with added onions and peppers. He said he has had way better sausage elsewhere as they had an odd taste. The eggs had an odd consistency and he wondered if the eggs were all egg or if they were a mixture of something else; definately tasted different. I had the Italian omelet - it was interesting - never had pepperoni for breakfast but no complaints either, it was my choice - just a fun breakfast to have something different for a change. Would never have it again. Pricing was about $50., We are both very sure that will be our only time visiting.
