We had a great rental experience at Snorkel Bob's. They took care of two adults and two kids right away. Good equipment plus RX lenses. Yes, those mesh bags sure do make things easy. Plus, the efficient staffer steered us right for beginning snorkeling-- Pouipu Beach. Even if you just can snorkel for a couple of hours, the rental fee is worth it. read more

The snorkel equipment they rented to our family fit extremely well and didn't leak. You may drive past several other tiny equipment stores with signs offering cheaper daily snorkel equipment rentals but you get what you pay for. read more

The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and the equipment was great for the most part. Unfortunately for Bob I'm writing the review and my snorkel was crap. It would let water in the bottom so there was almost always a little in the tube. So I was breathing salt water all day. We had 15 ppl in our group and mine was the only one that did this. Luckily I switched to one and it worked great. The other complaint was the fit on the cheap fins. I tried I several pairs and none fit well. When you snorkel all day with fins that don't fit you get blisters. So leaking snorkel and fins that didn't fit = not a great experience. Body boards and all else was great. Tip #1: if you spend over $50 you get a great hard cover fish book. The staff failed to mention this and since we got so much we got 5 free books, but only because someone in our group was paying attention. Tip #2: check the equipment and I'm sure they'll replace if it isn't satisfactory. read more

By mistake we walked into Snorkel Bob's in Koloa. Sad to admit but we were having trouble with our gear an we were actually looking for their competitors store. I'm so glad we stopped in. We got full experience on why you should just stick to the best. cheap pays give you cheap ways. So We returned our gear and gave SNORKEL BOB'S a try. A choice we don't regret! We were greeted politely and was told to have a seat as the young sales girl gave us the rundown. we were glad that we weren't pressured into getting the best gear right off the bat but was shown and explained to the differences between the low end & high end. With a set of quick breathing test & properly shown how to use the gear we found the differences right away. We were very surprised with her patient and helpful service. The young lady answered all our questions,gave us some tips and places to head to. Snorkel bobs are very hands on! excellent service!! Rented fins for a week from Snorkel Bob's. Courtney helped get my fiancee and I fitted with the right fins. She pointed out a bunch of good snorkel spots, gave us some tips on where to go when it rains, and was a pleasure to do business with. While on our honeymoon, we rented gear for a week at Snorkel Bob's. It was super convenient because it was just down the road from the Hyatt. We drove in, both of us got the Ultimate deal for $35 a week for fins and snorkel gear. It worked out great, we took it everywhere. They even gave us a bottle of the anti-fogger. The person who helped us out was really nice and laid back to. We ended up doing the drop off thing, which was super cool. We had miss the hours of drop-off during the day, so we just simply entered a code, dropped in our gear and that was that! Easy returns! read more

I'd never go with anyone else. The equipment is great, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is super knowledgeable. We took their recommendation for snorkel spots and were not disappointed - turtles, eel, and more tropical fish than we imagined. Very friendly and helpful staff. We got our snorkel gears from this store. It's very close to our hotel and has a night drop box. I had some issue with the mask and had to go back to the store to exchange it. He was so nice and gave us some tips on how to get rid of the water, etc. The second mask still had some issues but I can't really complain because it's a rental. We have decided that we will buy our own mask + fins and only rent the fins next time. read more

I was in Kauai last month and stopped by Snorkel Bob's to pick up some fish food. Chris explained that they don't sell this because feeding the fish isn't recommended because they begin to develop a dependence on being fed. But he gave me a great tip for setting up underwater pics of fish, sans fish food: establish the background you want for your shot, then pick up a fistfull of sand. Sprinkle the sand down through the water, and the fish will flock over, believing it to be food until they get closer. Great pictures; no harm to the fish. I really appreciated him taking the time to explain all that, especially because I wasn't buying or renting anything there. read more

The equipment was good, however, the assumption was made by the sales team that we all had snorkeling experience which wasn't the case. It would have been helpful had the sales team asked and maybe quickly explain how to best use the equipment. read more

We stopped by last minute after realizing that our kayak company did not provide snorkel equipment. They were very friendly and we were in and out in 15 minutes with some great gear. We ended up returning a day earlier than expected after our schedule changed and they actually refunded us for the unused day. An absolutely pleasant experience start to end! read more

Very good equipments, there's a whole lot to choose from to fit what you need. I just have beef with the other stuff they try to sell you for, like surfing lessons, that are waaaay more expensive than the ones we got quoted outside of snorkel bob. Biut the equipments themselves were top notch, sanitary and the anti-fog thing was a godsend. read more

This is a no frills kinda place that will undoubtedly set you up for snorkeling in 15 minutes flat. You can't beat the $16/day price for "top of the line" equipment. Our sales clerk gave us good tips on where to go and although we had to share the waters with many others who must have received the same advice, it was fun nonetheless. Beware of the currents in Kauai's waters...no matter how calm the water looks, there always seems to be a current. read more

Appears to care a tad about the environment more than some others, gear is in good shape and fits everyone in the family, AFFORDABLE, will let you switch off if someone wimps out in your party (switched my son's fins so dad could finish off the week on the same rental package--no "oh sorry" there) convenient. Pam was the absolute best. We rented gear for the week and went with SB's new snorkle which made things an absolute breeze. Learning curve was very easy. My nephew took to snorkling like a fish - no hestitations and I know it was the purge/valve system that made it so easy for all of us. Bait and Switch! Advertised for one price for snorkel rentals to get you into the store. They don't tell you that the price was for substandard 1970's style snorkels that they later tell you no one would want. Slimy salesman techniques to rush you to rent the more expensive set. Left the store feeling conned. I don't mind paying more for quality, but what I don't appreciate is feeling manipulated by the guy at the Kapaa Snorkel Bob's store. I won't be returning here again. We rent gear from Snorkel Bob's every visit for the Rx masks. This time we upgraded to the better snorkel (MoFlo) and it was well worth it. Huge disappointment! We had such a great experience with their location in Lahaina on Maui we thought we'd use this location. Huge mistake! The women that took care of us was rude and ignorant. We rented 2 beach chairs and 2 sets of snorkel equipment. On top of her not being friendly we couldn't even use the snorkel equipment we rented because the ocean was rough because of a southern swell, information the women should have known and passed along to us. read more
