Years ago I stumbled upon Snowflake Donuts and anytime I'm in the area the glazed donuts are always calling my name. I would highly suggest going in the morning because they serve the donuts hot! A fresh donut really makes a difference because Snowflake serves up a heavenly crispy and lightly glazed donut. On this occasion, I went around noon and the donuts were not as good as they looked but the good old microwave fixed that problem! They have many jelly filling choices if you're in the market for a jelly donut and you simply tell them what you want and they fill it at that moment, NEATO! Warm and fresh donuts! We came right before 8am after our chiropractor appointment. Bought 2 small kolaches, apple fritters, a maple bar (they call it an eclair), a dozen donut holes, and a half dozen donuts (mix of strawberry sprinkle donut, 2 blueberry cake donuts, 2 raised glazed, and chocolate cake donut), all for $16.60. There aren't very many Khmers (Cambodians) in the area but they know how to make great donuts (majority of the best donut shops in CA where I just moved from last year ate Khmer family owned). They have a wide selection of donuts made daily with lasting freshness until the afternoon. I went around 2 p.m. and the taste was still impeccable! The bread was cushioned with fluffy flavor, and the icing was delightfully glazed with sweet taste. It would satisfy anyone's donut cravings! While I love donuts to nearly no end, I've stayed away from them for years just because of their bad reputation. Still, every now and again I find myself unable to resist a donut's magnetism. This morning was one such scenario. The reason I gave in though was simple: I had never tried Snowflake Donuts' work before, so it seemed to be a noble cause. After all, who am I to stand in the way of discovery? I opted for a single donut: chocolate. I didn't go for the chocolate on chocolate because I wanted to try my childhood favorite. And I did. And I liked it. It wasn't like the mass-marketed Krispy donuts that have plagued the nation. The fluffy dough beneath the evenly (but generously) spread chocolate icing basically melted in my mouth. I can't wait to try the other offerings at Snowflake! I'm sure their breakfast burritos, kolaches, and other donuts are just as delicious. Snowflake Donuts is a recent development on Babcock, welcoming anyone in with its array of croissants, breakfast tacos, kolaches, and, of course, donuts. I went for a simple, strawberry filled glazed to top off lunch (what, donuts can be dessert too!), which was delicious. When I got my donut home, I was surprised to see that the guy who helped me had thrown in 4 free donut holes. Now that is my kind of place! The service was friendly, and, as the place was a little sparse at 1 p.m., he seemed happy to have someone wander in. There was plenty of seating for a small donut shop, with about 5 wooden tables. One table was being monopolized by a group of very cute little girls (who looked like the guy that helped me) playing with dolls, so it made me think that the place is most likely family run. So conveniently located by my workplace. Actually a little too convenient... I know there are multiple locations but this is the only one I've been to and I really like it The donuts are awesome! If you like the super sweet and light donuts from Krispy Kreme, then you might not like these. These donuts are a little more dense and very chewy. The crust is a little thicker and has more texture than a regular donut. I love the texture of the donuts in general. I also like the flavors of the donuts. They are not too sweet and don't taste too oily. The glazes are also not that sweet, which is something I appreciate. My absolutely favorite thing about this place is that they fill the donuts and Eclairs once you order them. You can fill the donuts with whatever flavors you want. I love the Bavarian cream filled chocolate donuts. I've never had a problem with them under filling or overfilling the donuts. I like the Bavarian cream and apple fillings. I've also had the kolaches. It tastes like a standard kolache. The breading is sweet and the sausage is small and tastes generic. But I'm comparing all kolaches to Central market's, which is the best I've had. If you can, get your coffee elsewhere. This coffee is pretty bland and has no depth. I only get it if I am in a hurry. It is inexpensive and they offer land o lakes and vanilla half and half (in those disposable containers). Service is great! All the workers are really nice and always patiently wait while I try to decide what flavors to get. Overall, a really great place to get great donuts. read more

Love their apple turnover and bear claw- they're full of apples! And they generously fill their raspberry, blueberry and creme filled donuts. Cinnamon twist and cinnamon roll are tasty and soft. I can't leave without buying at least 6 donuts. This place has 3 locations (medical center area, boerne and bandera) and it's a family run business. On weekends, families get together and sit inside, drinking coffee and eating donuts. One old man complemented me on my pink pineapple pajamas. What can I say? I wake up and I think - go get donuts. I stop by every Saturday when I'm in town. This place and The Original Donut Shop on Fredricksberg are my favorite places to get donuts. We LOVE snowflake donuts! We have been coming here at least 3 times a week since we moved here. We never even go to shipleys anymore when we want donuts. The staff is amazing they're always so friendly and helpful! The lady who rings us up every time makes our day great each morning with how friendly and positive she is we love her! They have a huge variety to choose from. Old fashioned, cake, sprinkled. So many kolaches and breakfast sandwiches. They started flavored iced coffee recently and it's the best! My last review I only gave 4 stars because the donuts weren't fresh when they said they were, and one of my donuts was very dry on the inside, like it had been sitting out for a while. We tried Snowflake again at around 6 this morning and watched them bring out a new tray for fresh donuts. I got one of those which was strawberry iced, and I ate it with the enthusiasm of a one year old with a birthday cake. That's also about how I looked afterwards because the fresh icing was warm and gooey and stuck to my fingers. Also tried a Kountry Boy (Kielbasa sausage kolache) and THAT is a masterpiece. The kielbasa is the perfect meat for inside this kolache. I could probably eat three of those alone! read more

Although their donuts are good, but what really caught my attention was their back egg and cheese muffin (or croissant). This is not your average mcdonald-like mcmuffins, it is absolutely delicious! donuts - 4/5 bacon egg and cheese breakfast muffin - 4.5/5 We went on a day the kitchen was a little short handed, to make up for the wait time, they gave us 18 donuts holes although we only ordered a dozen. So I can't say this enough I love this donut shop! This is one of my favorite local donut shops in the medical center! The customer service is outstanding, they are very polite by using words "yes ma'am" or "no sir" I mean not many companies these day go that far! Pulling up to the location this morning around at 10AM it was a tad busy with only 2 other people in front of us if you call but the employees working in there are really fast at assisting customer and still getting your order correct that it really isn't much of a wait. The inside of the store is always clean and has a really nice open lay out with you stepping inside and lining up towards the glass containers that it flows nicely. Now on to the donuts yum! Today my husband and I ordered each an order of donut holes. I was greedy today and ordered a dozen donut holes in a combination of chocolate glazed donut holes ( just one side of the donut hole is dip in chocolate which I kind is a great idea so they aren't overly chocolatey in the morning) along with cinnamon donut holes which whole doesn't love donut holes covered in cinnamon. My husband got an order of glazed donut holes which are always good no matter what. Then we decided that's not enough haha that we ordered 1 vanilla cake, 1 blueberry and 1 chocolate glazed with peanuts (btw sorry they aren't pictured we were pigs haha) and of course all were really great. I have to say the vanilla cake donut was the first one I've had and it was really delicious I love that it was just what it's called and even though its just a donut with nothing on it the vanilla cake is my favorite. The blueberry is always a plus that you can never go wrong and my husband always loves to get his glazed chocolate peanut donut. When Donuts ETC (at 218 and Thousand Oaks) closed, i was distraught. They were the only donut place in town that passed all my tests for an excellent donut shop. Then along came Snowflake and saved San Antonio from being doomed to dreadful donuts. Snowflake passed my tests with flying colors by: 1. Having a solid, delicious glazed donut 2. Having the best old fashioned sour cream donut i have ever tasted 3. Having an apple fritter so good it makes your teeth hurt. You definitely need to try the ham and cheese croissants they are so filling ..large croissant only 2.19. The place is clean and all times I've been there they've greeted me with a smile. As good as it gets... in San Antonio. I lived really close to this donut shop and my husband was craving donuts and although I don't like donuts, I love kolaches. The Asian man that works there was really friendly and patient even though I was being indecisive. My husband got half a dozen each of the glazed and chocolate donut holes and I got 2 kolaches. Kolaches are usually pretty big as it is but it seemed extremely big here. I finished 1 and gave my husband the other kolache. The kolache was really good but I'm a kolache lover so I may be bias.
