Our air condition suddenly stopped blowing cool air three days before people were going to move in to the house. Our usual AC company was going to charge just to come take a look -- at the very unit they installed before, so I decided to try a new company. Menooa was very responsive, understood the urgency and came out with his crew to take a look quickly. They first tried everything else, but nothing worked so he explained and gave me two options: either replace the whole condenser or just the compressor. We opted for the whole thing, he had responsible prices and most importantly had no additional hidden fees and knew we were on a deadline. He promised he'd do it and be done by a certain time. Now, often when vendors say they'll be there and have it done by a certain time I'm not so sure , since many have reneged in the past , but Menooa had his team there on time, they did everything fixed it all on time and was out of there before move in. There's a really good reason Menooa has five stars across the board. We asked him to provide a quote on an A/C issue. Our cooling had gone out completely in mid September due to a leak, and two other companies had told us that we needed to replace an entire rooftop unit, which would have involved not only the cost of the unit, but also hiring a crane, and loss of any functionality for the months before we could get the job done. Menooa took a look, and figured out that one coil, under warranty, could be replaced -- saving huge cost and leaving us with a fully functioning heat system in the meantime until the replacement coil could come in. On a hot weekend I started to hear strange mechanical sounds from the attic when the AC came on. Called around on Sunday and Monday, Menooa was able to come early Tuesday morning after I contacted him Monday afternoon. Was actually able to get somebody else in on Monday to look, and he said it would be very difficult to repair the part that was making the noise (the blower motor). He recommended getting a new furnace entirely. Second guy said he wouldn't even try to repair it. Then thankfully Menooa came around, took a look at it, really got into the system and found the problem. Was able to get the parts and come back and repair it the same day, at a very reasonable cost (especially compared to having to get a whole new system and being without AC until then!). We are considering replacing the system with him anyways as it's quite old and inefficient, but we can make that choice on our own time with a fully functional HVAC system in the interim! Super pleased with the service and the craftsmanship he displays - he cleaned up the furnace internals while he was replacing the blower motor I think just because the shoddy work of previous contractors offended him. The first time I used So Cal Air was for a service call on my 25 year old package HVAC system. I knew it was on its last leg of life but I wasn't ready to bare the cost of a new system. And usually these service calls turn into replacing expensive parts. So Cal was able to get my system back up and running by only re-charging it with new Freon. It lasted for one year and then it had trouble again. So, I called them back and they refilled the system again. I knew the leak was getting worse so I decided to have them put in a new system. I couldn't be happier with the new package system and all the workmanship that was performed. They built a custom frame so the system would sit level and be waterproof. They also made custom insulated ducts that connect between the unit and the roof. The quality of craftsmanship and pride they take in their work is excellent. Referred So Cal Air and Menooa to my brother's household since they were having trouble finding an honest company to come out to fix their A/C unit which wasn't blowing out any cold air. They originally had a different company come out telling them they needed a freon recharge but this other company put in an incorrect type of freon (a cheaper type that can potentially cause severe damage to the A/C unit) and did not fix the problem. So a few different companies came out and the repairs they recommended were all over the board from replacing the evaporator coil to needing a new furnace to needing a new A/C unit or needing everything new with estimates ranging from 2 to over 10 grand. None of them recommended doing a leak test to diagnose the leak saying the test would take too long and wasn't 100% accurate. When Menooa and Robert came out, that was the 1st thing they recommended so they can diagnose exactly where the leak was and what needed to be done. Their explanation was why spend thousands replacing a condenser unit or furnace if it wasn't necessary. So test was done and there was a leak coming from the coil thus a new coil was needed. Their bid to replace/install new coil, freon recharge (the correct expensive type) and also installing 2 new thermostats were the lowest from all the different companies that came out. They also went above and beyond and took it upon themselves to check and do other things that were not requested at no extra charge. Things like climbing on the roof to see if the vents were sealed correctly, checking and flushing out the primary and secondary lines which in this case, the primary line had a clog that couldn't be flushed out so they found the location of the clog and had to cut and replace a section of PVC pipe. Hard work considering they spent majority of time in the attic which we all know can get really hot, stuffy and cramped. In the end, much needed cold air was flowing once again. Great service by Menooa and Robert who are true professionals. It's unfortunate that finding honest people/companies is so hard to do. Glad to have found Menooa at So Cal Air. I was dealing with another service repair company that had good reviews on Yelp, but the techs had to make several trips and each time they told me something different. I finally called So Cal and Menooa made a point to be at my house within 45 minutes of my call. He quickly diagnosed the issue, worked with the manufacturer to get a replacement part that should be covered by warranty, and was back to install it a couple days later. He was also helpful in drafting up an invoice that helped me get a replacement for a defective Nest thermostat (which failed at the same time as my AC unit, so Google was giving me pushback on replacing it). What a wonderful company!! In this day and age it is very difficult to find such responsive and intelligent owner/technician. We have multiple systems at our house and two we're not working. Five different reputable companies came out they all said that the units were too old and not fixable and we had to buy new units for between 20 and $30,000. They also said parts are not available because of the age of the units. I called Mr. Akbari he came out quickly and made a minor adjustment to one of the units and said he can get the parts for the second unit which he did in two days, he came back out and repaired it and everything is working perfectly like brand new now. I own a restaurant and one of my air ducts fell off Friday night. The previous HVAC company was out on vacation for the week and couldn't get in until the following week. Owning a business, I needed it fixed asap otherwise it affects my customers. I sent out a yelp quote and Menooa responded at 6pm on a Saturday night. He needed a 100 service fee to come out but he did try to do something so you get your moneys worth. He showed up with his other team members at 8am sharp on a Sunday morning. He knew right away the duct was installed incorrectly bc it blew out the duct causing loss of air conditioning. While he was in, he carefully explained what went wrong and recommended 2 areas where I can improve my air flow and reducing stress on the machines. His prices were very good considering he fixed my initial problem and added 2 duct vents for total of 850. Another HVAC company charged 750 just to reattach the blown duct. He was patient, explained everything clearly and showed where I can save money and where I don't need work on. He broke it down and said 450 for the week supply and 400 for the labor, which is fair. I was previously told by another company my insulation is bad and needs to be replaced for 3300. Menooa straight up looked at me and said "what for? The ac controls the temp in the store and the insulation controls the attic so it doesn't matter what temp the attic is.". He saved me 3300. Overall I will use him again for HVAC maintenance. Too bad I didn't use him earlier when I went with a different HVAC company for the duct cleaning, would have saved me a lot of headache and got it done right the first time. read more

I called SoCal Air Conditioning after getting estimates from Costco, Lowe's and Home depot for a new install of Central AC. The house has never had AC so it was a new install in a 1938 built house. Manooa came and gave me an estimate and pricing for 4 different brands, single and two stage for each brand, really 8 estimates to choose from. Basically whatever I wanted to put in he covered it in the estimate. The other estimates only gave me one option and that was it. I pretty much knew after Manooa left that if his price was comparable I would use his company. For reference I am qualified to build a house from the ground up including all plumbing, electrical and HVAC. So I know how things should be done. With that in mind I wasn't disapointed with the estimate and scope of work. The cost was fair and in line with one of the least expensive ones I received. Manooa's crew did the work in a timely fashion and were both professional and courteous. I would take a look in the attic to check out the work they did daily, but I found every day that they did excellent work. I didn't have to ask them to do anything different or bring anything missed to there attention because there work is very clean and professional. They even strapped all the flexible ducting to the roof rafters to keep the attic open for access. Very appreciative of Menooa at So-Cal A/C. My thermostat had been on the fritz so I wanted to replace it and bought a new wifi thermostat. After going through the instructions, I decided to ask for help. I called So-Cal A/C and Menooa was at my house in less than 90 minutes, masked up, and ready to install the new thermostat. I'm glad I called because he had to replace the wiring from the HVAC to give us full control over the system, which was better than what the instructions recommended (using the G wire in place of the C wire, which would have made us lose fan control).
