I chose Precise Air Systems through Costco because I trusted the Costco partnership, even though several other HVAC companies offered lower prices. From the beginning, I was required to pay the full amount upfront before any work started, which I later found concerning. One major issue was related to asbestos. Every other contractor I received quotes from had already included asbestos removal costs in their total estimate, which is common for older homes in the Burbank area. Although this company had already visited the property and inspected it beforehand to provide an estimate--just like other contractors--they suddenly raised asbestos concerns in the middle of the project and stopped the work. The project was then delayed for over a week, and despite multiple attempts to contact them, I received little to no response. Later, they even requested additional charges. The scheduling and communication were extremely frustrating throughout the entire process. I repeatedly adjusted my personal schedule to accommodate their work. In particular, on Friday, the project manager directly told me that they would come on Saturday to complete the remaining work. Based on that, I stayed home and waited. However, no one showed up, no one contacted me, and later I was simply told that they do not work on Saturdays and that I should call the office myself to reschedule. There was not even a proper apology. It is also unreasonable to expect the customer to coordinate scheduling, as it is the contractor's responsibility to manage the schedule and complete the project once the work has started. From my experience, it felt like the company schedules work based on their own convenience and profit, rather than respecting the customer's time and commitments. While the technicians on site were polite and hardworking, the overall project management, scheduling, and communication were very disappointing. I also wonder whether requiring full payment upfront before the work even began aligns with standard practices or regulations in California. I chose this company specifically because of Costco, and I expected a much higher level of professionalism and accountability. read more

I had a new furnace installed and that was fine. Somewhere in the process of asbestos duct abatement and installation of new ductwork, the main waste line was broken. It was in the basement and crawl space, an area seldom visited by anyone. It leaked for over 3 months an when discovered, I reached out to Precise Air, who refuses to return my calls or respond to written correspondence. I'm writing this review to report a serious violation I witnessed during a service by Precise Air Conditioning. We have video evidence showing a technician illegally releasing refrigerant into the air without using proper recovery equipment. This is a clear violation of EPA regulations under the Clean Air Act, which strictly prohibit venting refrigerants due to their harmful impact on the environment. This behavior is not only unprofessional , it's illegal and dangerous. We have submitted the video to the proper environmental authorities for investigation. I urge anyone considering this company to think twice, and I hope Precise Air Conditioning takes full responsibility and changes its practices before further harm is done. Who knows how much ACTUAL harm yall have environmentally caused due to incompetence , do yall not hire educated certified professionals ?!! My overall experience started off as excellent, then went to poor, and then finished off with excellent. Hence I feel Precise Air deserves 5 stars for being excellent overall. 4 stars: I ordered Precise Air through Costco Services as they are a Costco trusted and approved HVAC company. Their Sales rep, Oscar Villafana came to my home in August 6, 2024 and was extremely nice to me, explained what HVAC was recommended to replace my old and broken HVAC system. I am a people person and suspected he was a typical sales person who was only nice to people in the beginning to get the sales and would disappear after sales occurred and provide no post sales support. However, since Precise Air was partnered and backed by Costco, I decided to move forward even after their prices were quite high and I had other competing and attractive offers from other HVAC companies that worked with Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Oscar had presented me a couple government rebates that I would qualify for and the time frame of when I would receive them as "HE" would submit them for me once the work was completed. Also getting Costco SHOP cards was attractive as well. 0 stars: My HVAC system is set for auto cold/heat based on temperature. After a couple months (on October 19, 2024), when the weather got colder, the system fired up the heat pump and I noticed it was blowing COLD air instead. I then turned off the system to prevent the house from getting even colder. Called Precise Air about the issue. They sent someone a couple days later to inspect and repair. The issue ended up being a default switch on Lennox systems being set to just do COLD air only. This switch was overlooked by the installers and was needed to be flipped so the system could auto blow COLD or HOT air based on the weather. 5 stars: On October 21, 2024, Precise Air technician, Zachary Uhrig, arrived to my home, spent just 15 minutes and knew exactly what the issue was. He quickly fixed it and everything was now working as it was supposed to. I am extremely happy that Zach is so knowledgeable about the hardware. 0 stars: On December 16, 2024, I called up my sales person from Precise Air, Oscar Villafana, to inquire about the $1000 TECH Clean California rebate in which he explained to me "HE" would submit on my behalf (only contractors can submit for this CA rebate) and I would receive it in 3 months. It was now 4 months. He ended up arguing with me claiming that he never said that he would submit anything, then later retracting that statement and saying when he mentions "HE WOULD", he meant the company would do it, not him. He also mentioned that he is "just a sales guy, and not responsible for this" and would not take accountability for anything to help me. He then told me to contact a junior admin in the Precise Air office to track down the status of my rebate, then retracted that statement and said he would ask this junior person to call me. He hung up the phone, called the admin person, called me back and mentioned that the admin person would call me back in a couple minutes because he was now "stuck in a meeting". I stayed on the phone with Oscar for another 5 minutes mentioning to him about how he needs to take accountability for his statements again, and when he didn't accept my suggestion, I told him if this continues, I will have to report this to Costco directly. His response to this was "GO AHEAD, call Costco." I then had nothing else to say and Oscar hung up the phone immediately. 5 stars: The Precise Air admin called me back after 10 min of when my phone call ended with Oscar. I wanted to test the comment of Oscar saying that he was tied up in a meeting and would call me back when he was out of it. He told me that he was not in a meeting but packing up equipment to his car and was off to meet an inspector for a different HVAC job at that time. He was calling me back from his car. Hence this confirmed another lie from Oscar about making up statements and facts again. The admin mentioned he does not know the status of my rebate and would follow up and call me back by the end of the day. The call was short but I could tell he was very junior and nice. NOTE: -- on the morning of December 17, 2024, I then had a conversation with Costco directly about this incident and informed them of all occurrences. Since Oscar told me to call Costco and report this as if he didn't care, I did! 10 stars: Shorting after my call with Costco, I received a callback from Precise Air rebate manager, Narek. This individual is truly a superstar employee! LONG story short, he mentioned he understands my frustration, listened to my explanation patiently, and said he will instruct the company to cut me the rebate check paid out to me personally even though the CA rebate was still pending (which would be paid to Precise Air, not me). He also assured me that I can call them (the office) directly and they will always support me anytime. read more

I wish I could share a positive experience, but unfortunately, this has been disappointing. We had high hopes after seeing the Lenox sign at Costco, but communication quickly broke down and trust was lost. Both the Precise Air salesperson and we agreed to stop before moving forward, as he emphasized the customer satisfaction guarantee and suggested halting the process (no installation, no goods). The salesperson then went silent. While we tried to be understanding, recognizing it's disappointing to lose a project and issue a refund, he also seemed inexperienced. When we finally heard from him, he instructed us to contact Precise Air and Costco directly, as he said the refund was no longer his responsibility. We've done so. "Precise" came over for a yearly service with my tenant on a commercial space with four 5 ton units. They noted that all units were very dirty because there were NO AIR FILTERS in the units. That's because, they forgot to install them last year during the yearly service that they were paid for. WHAT? My units were running all year without filters? The most basic thing about HVAC. BEWARE OF PRICE GOUGING! Our heater stopped working. A technician from Precise Air Systems said we needed to replace the pressure switch. Precise Air's manager, Arnie, quoted a jaw-dropping $685 for this simple part. The identical part sells online for $63.50! When informed his quote was TEN TIMES the retail amount, Arnie said he would let us have it for $500! NO, THANK YOU! We ordered the part, and in less than 20 minutes my husband plugged it in, secured it with two screws, and the heater works great. If this isn't egregious price gouging, I don't know what is! This is not the first outrageous quote we've gotten from Precise Air. They installed a mini-split AC system for us, and Arnie wanted to charge $250 just to come out and look at an exterior condensation drain cover that went missing. They installed the system, so I pointed out they must have improperly attached it. It took multiple calls, several emails with photos, and nearly 8 weeks for them to have a technician drop by at their convenience. The tech noticed the "missing" part was loosely attached, but had slid down behind the shrub in front of the cover. He pushed it back up into place, and secured it with duct tape! Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, use this company. I was trying to be a diligent landlord by replacing my HVAC unit in 2019 prior to my new tenant moving into the unit. I took a few quotes and I went with Precise Air because they were backed by Costco. I had them remove my old unit (which was still working but having issues) and install a brand new one. Since the installation, I have had nothing but problems. Here are some issues I've encountered since installing: 1) The unit completely shut off the day after it was installed. 2) The unit has leaked INSIDE my condo twice, since installation. In one instance, the unit stopped working so they sent someone out and it worked for a few months and it happens again. The unit is a year and half old, why am I having issues on a regular basis? One time, I had to hire another vendor to come and look at the unit because they didn't have any techs available for a week. The other vendor said that there was a pretty big problem and they said to call Precise back out and noted a list of issues. So we got Precise back out and the tech literally said he didn't know what was wrong. We gave him the list from our other vendor. He fixed it based off that list and low and behold everything started working again. I have given up. Now, there is a new problem or maybe an old one that wasn't fixed properly. I'm using the other vendor because calling this company is a waste of my time, my property manager's time, and my tenants. Don't waste your time, energy or money. read more

AVOID. Precise Air systems originally installed our air system at our home, and has consistently been difficult to deal with. Despite us giving PAS a clear reminder that they had installed the system on our roof and would need to be prepared for that while working on the unit, the employee was surprised (this has happened before, since the unit was installed by PAS incorrectly from the start) by the location during the most recent maintenance appointment. He informed us he would not work on it, but that someone would come back several hours later the same day. We cleared the remainder of our day for this second visit, but no one showed up or called, and the office did not answer the phone. Only after we followed up again the following day were we able to speak with someone at PAS, who informed us it would be two additional days until someone is able to come out and look at the system again. PAS is friendly on the phone and in-person, but that friendliness does not extend to actually showing up and doing the work. read more

Hi Greg, Thank you for responding Regarding the leaking issue, other HVAC Company came and confirm the water leaking due to duct tape installation and he said it's not recommended to use duct tape over mastic when you put the duct joint on the top of the roof for the wallpaper damage picture- if you show the picture clearly the line starts from the vent- it could be from condensation to build up and drip from the AC vents nothing to do with the age of the house cause more cracking and we didnt have any earthquakes. i was told that the installation was not correct that cause the damaged of my wallpaper. read more

Their Rep contacted me right away, and had a meeting a few days later with options and pricing. The Lennox Heat Pump and Air Handler (HVAC system) were installed a week later. The Foreman and the installers came first thing in the morning for the walk through. It was hard work, and they finished and cleaned up by 6pm! Amazing and very professional job! My wife and I are super happy with the performance of the Lennox units. The Variable Speed Air Handler is quiet and delivers nice cool air very efficiently. It's expensive, but worth it! I got the quote through Costco and spoke with Andrew Karapanian. He was polite and responded quickly to all my questions. He definitely knew the product and gave us exactly what we wanted. We had them pull out an old heater furnace and all the old ducting and replace everything with a massive 4-ton unit. He told us the work would take 4 days and that's exactly what it took them. They showed up every day on time at 6:45am. The first day, Andrew came by as well just to make sure everything was set. Jeff, the designer, also came out and spoke with us about what they are going to do and everything. The team I had was Ruben (lead), Joshua (the muscle), and Gorgen (the duct man). The three of them each had a role and all of them worked hard to get the HVAC finished. They cleaned up after themselves every day, dusted, protected my floors, and put up plastic wherever they were cutting. Even the trash they picked up and put in their own trucks. They didn't throw it away in my trash can. That's service right there! They always answered my questions and always explained to me what each component of my HVAC does (in case something breaks down I can ID it quickly). My husband and I love our new mini-split HVAC system from Precise Air. For the first time since we bought our two story house in 1988, our living room can be made warm without heating the upstairs. The system  is very quiet, both inside and outside. We had MERV 16 filters installed to help with my husband's allergy problem and to protect us from smoke from future wildfires. Two years ago I bought my first single family home and decided to completely remodel it. Unfortunatley, I hired a very erratic and untrustworthy general contractor to run the job and he hired an even more inconsistent and inept HVAC guy to design and replace the 30 year old A/C system in my home. Four months into the remodel the A/C guy had only installed 75% of the ducting and relocated the furnace to the second floors attic space. This guy reused the 30 year old freon lineset and ran it outside through the attic and down a channel. He destroyed half of my daughters ceiling trying to get the unit in and didn't even make a proper opening in the hallway for access. Long story short he stopped showing up and I stopped paying both him and the GC. Greg at Precise came highly recommended from a friends father so i decided to give him a try. He and his project manager came down and surveyed the house; about an hour later they had a game plan to redo the shotty work from the previous contractor and provide my family with a efficient and powerful A/C system. They came the next day and started redoing the entire system which only took them two days!!! They gave me a very competitive price and even came back three months later to adjust the airflow to each room to our liking. The most reliable company! Of course during the heat wave, our ac breaks on 2 different occasions for 2 separate reasons. Each time, the 2 different technicians were extremely knowledgeable and efficient, but one was beyond excellent! Not only did Brent know exactly what the problem was and how to repair it (with new parts) but took the time to clean, wash, and get everything perfect! The whole process was not an easy task: so many nuts and bolts and parts to the unit. He was honest, pleasant, and dedicated! I hope he will be recognized as a gem! read more

Was assigned Precise Air by Costco through their program. I should have known this was going to be bad from the start. First the scheduling, we played phone tag for a couple days and everytime I called back she was at lunch or on another line, after 4 attempts I finally got a hold of the person (I'm not sure why one of the other people who answered the phone couldn't schedule the estimate). When I finally got in touch with the person, we agreed on the next afternoon, however she kept getting date wrong and I had to keep reminding her what day it was. I thought it was finally good to go, i get a text in the middle of the night reminding me of my 4am appointment (supposed to be 4pm), I'm just glad the rep realized 4pm and wasn't at my door at 4am... The rep showed up on time, but you could tell this is sales person, not a regular AC contractor, he showed up in professional attire and dress shoes not work clothes and boots and had a small soft sided briefcase type portfolio with him. When we went to where the unit was on side house he asked me for my Title 24 paperwork, I had no clue what that was and I'm sure most homeowners looking for an estimate don't either. I asked him and he explained it was the efficiency standards the city requires. I told him my contractor probably has that with the plans (house is being remodeled for an addition, that's why we are replacing our old AC, it's old and now more sq feet). He asked if I had a digital copy, again I told him my contractor would have any of that not me and told him that I've already received several estimates from other contractors and none of them asked for Title 24 paperwork. The rep then started in on comments about be careful who I use and he doesn't know what they're quoting or meeting requirements... I pointed out that the existing AC had already been inspected by a registered and certified City of xxxxxxx (city property is in) AC contractor on the City's rebate replacement program, only the one contractor has to come out, they do a full diagnostic of all systems and check air flow and temp inside house as well and then they put a sticker on the unit. Once it's been done, any of the AC vendors can quote as part of the rebate program without having to test the system and they just need to meet those minimum SEER efficiency standards and ensure to the tonnage is accurate to the size house and not under or over sized. Was a simple process and received several easy quotes (all those quotes have come back in the same tonnage range with no discrepancies and all provide options ranging from 16 SEER two stage all the way through 21 SEER variable stage, they have higher SEER options but I stayed in that range for quotes), I told the rep about multiple quotes (didn't tell him the details of SEER and tonnage) and again he went on about how they may not be providing the right equipment and they have to provide certain equipment (I would think if they're registered with the City of xxxxx, they know what the standards are, plus they still have to pull a permit before installation... I've never had any contractor bad mouth other contractors before (you can read between the lines in what they say, but never directly say anything negative, I even had some of the other AC companies ask who else provided estimates and even say "oh yeah, they're pretty good," not, well I don't know what they're quoting you, I can only tell you we're following the rules, implying that all these others are not)... but the bottom line is, if you know you're going to be providing a quote in the City of xxxxx, then as a sales person, you should know what the requirements are to install in that city, not expect the homeowner to know!!! Maybe that's why the other contractors didn't ask me, maybe they already know the standard.... Oh, and the other than the condenser outside, the rest of the unit, including furnace is in the attic, I'm not sure how he was going to check that in his business attire and no ladder in his compact sedan; again, every other contractor brought a drop cloth and had a ladder to access that equipment, but then again, I think I saved myself a 30 minute sales pitch instead of a real quote!!!! read more

I had my AC unit installed with Precise Air through Costco. Same problmes as others seem to have. It is just past three years so labor warranty is over. However, prior to that techicians have been out 3 times. The unit leaks inside the house, rattles, is installed on top of wood beams (will they deteriorate in a few years?) and the heater shuts off after several minutes. Last technician says the heater was reaching it's limit. Wish I had read reviews before using Precise Air. I must say the last techician did ask who installed it (Precise Air!) and installed a new drain pan. The leak inside has lessened, but not stopped completely. read more

BEWARE: These guys are clowns! I bought my Lennox HVAC from Costco, and Precise Air cut so many corners and screwed up so many different things, I had to get Costco involved and threaten Precise Air to suspend/remove their preferred vendor status. They installed the HVAC unit so it was not level so it rattled like a 30 year old washing machine with busted bearings, they did not want to use a new mounting platform which made it worse, they secured the mounts like amateurs which made it a nightmare. The airflow was restricted because they would not put in a new plenum that was the proper size. The airflow from the undersized plenum made the unit overheat and crash constantly. These guys don't give a shit about the quality of their craftsmanship. read more

The quality of service you get from this company seems to depend greatly on the "comfort adviser" that you are assigned. We recently had our heat pump placed in our home. Throughout the process, our comfort adviser was terrible at communicating with us about the process. First, on the day that the work was to be done, a crane arrived to remove and install the unit on our roof. Turns out the wrong heat pump was ordered and the whole thing had to be rescheduled. Rescheduled for when? I had no idea. Later that day, another day? I had already rescheduled all my work appointments for that day and now having to reschedule them again was really inconvenient. I called our comfort adviser and the main office repeatedly. Not until the end of the day was I informed that it would have to be done another day. Argh! Second, I also asked our comfort adviser about changing the return air grilles to accommodate filters. This was work that was supposed to be included in the total price. Never got back to me about this. THIS WORK WAS NEVER COMPLETED AND I HAD TO CONTACT SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT AT AN ADDITIONAL COST. Third, the thermostat was not functioning after the install and needed two different technicians to come out to fix the problem. And scheduling those appointments? Again, our comfort adviser was difficult to reach. Fourth, I asked for a receipt and invoice, along with information about the heat pump that was actually installed and warranty information. (It would be nice to know what model of heat pump was actually installed in our house.) Emailed repeatedly, and after a week, got the invoice. It's been two months now and after repeated emails, never got the heat pump information and associated warranty information TO THIS DAY. The work itself was finally completed (hence the two stars), but the entire process was horrible! I will never work with this company again. read more

My AC is out and I wanted to get quotes to replace what I currently have. I went through Costco's website because a friend of mine told me he went through Costco once and had a great experience and competitive pricing. When I went online, I was able to get an appointment within a couple of days of going online--that was a plus because this was soon after the first major heat wave and it was impossible to get companies to even pick up the phone. The rep gave me a heads up before getting to my condo so I wouldn't have to take too much time away from work. When he got to my place, he brought booties with him and also something to cover my floor so that when he attempted to open the T bar, the debris wouldn't leave a mess. After looking at the layout of the HVAC system for my unit, he quoted me a price that was literally 3 times higher than the other three quotes that I received from other local, reputable companies. Although I knew it would be a lot of work as my condo is older, he gave me the impression that it would be a substantial amount of work compared to the way the other companies described it to me. CONTINUED FROM PART I: They brought the unit into my home only to discover the unit didn't fit in the closet AFTER THEY HAD COMPLETELY REMOVED MY FUNCTIONING UNIT! NO ONE HAD BOTHERED TO MEASURE THE CLOSET! I have NO functioning AC in a week of heat from hell and the unit I purchased doesn't fit (not even close). The next day the owner came to discuss options. He claimed NO unit would fit in the closet. So, after two days, they determined they needed to put it in sideways and create an ADDITIONAL access door!!! Needless to say, the 1 day install promised by the sales person (the tech lead said two days), now ended up being a 5 day install with major construction! Five days later, I had a functioning system that whistled and gurgled! They came the next workday and addressed the whistling by applying metal taping around the joint of the air handler. While I resisted (why should a non functioning manufacturer's seal be covered in tape), a tech rep from Lennox assured me this was the right thing to do. Why the step was overlooked during the install is beyond me? They reconfigured some of the piping they installed to address the gurgling noise (which they claim was due to units on upper floors). When they took out my existing unit, they didn't understand the configuration they needed to recreate to address the gurgling. 2 days later... a quiet unit. I got the Costco Lennox rep involved during the install debacle and they were supposed to send an independent Lennox tech on the final walkthrough. He was supposed to be on site, but, sadly, was only available by phone. I would still like to have a Lennox rep review the install. During the additional time, they also addressed malfunctioning closet doors (measurement did not take into account inside handle) and the new access door didn't open and close properly (required additional latch). The latch still doesn't function, but can be opened from the interior via the original access door. Now I am waiting for a light switch plate (it was taken down, but not replaced) that was misplaced and the correct filter. During the install, they put came with a MERV 13, when I purchased a 16. I course, I saw it was the wrong filter as they carried it in! I sincerely doubt they would have said anything if I didn't catch the error. I want to also add that at the time of the contract signing, my neighbor was also going to purchase and install the same unit. They were told they would be installed on the SAME day with a separate crew. That crew didn't show, but they did come with the wrong unit (a 14 seer!!!!). It actually turned out for the best, because when my neighbors heard of the debacle with my install, they backed out (although I hear that Precise gave them a hard time about it). Given they had screwed up their quote too (same error with 2.5 ton pairing), and also didn't take closet measurements, they were able to get out of their contract. As a final note, during the install, fire alarms went off half a dozen times due to welding smoke. When I asked them to provide proper ventilation, he suggested I disable alarms! I set up my own ventilation with dyson air purifiers/fans. Still alarms... Guess I'm lucky interior sprinklers didn't go off! This ended up being a very intrusive install that lasted well beyond the original time frame of 1 day quoted by Ryan. My senior dogs were so stressed, they were vomiting! Of course, Ryan's sales pritch promised no more than a thin layer of dust... read more

Updating this review based on how this situation has progressed. Precise sent someone out yesterday & he could find nothing wrong. We were advised to take videos to prove the heater didn't work, & to take pictures or videos of a few specific things, which I did. I sent those last night and expected follow up first thing this morning. When that didn't come, I called & have been unable to get through to anyone. read more

I contracted with Precise Air Systems through Costco. They promptly called to set up an appointment and provided multiple options, all with very competitive pricing. Oscar was very helpful walking through all the options for system replacement. On the install side, Jeff came in advance to take measurements and was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. The install went without any issues. The crew arrived promptly every day, cleaned up well at the end of each day, and even took care of modifying some existing ductwork/returns which weren't properly sized. They were very conscientious about wearing masks. They finished the work on-time and the system is working great. I'd definitely recommend - my full furnace and AC replacement went as smoothly as I could have imagined. read more
