After requesting a quote for a basic, no rush AC/furnace tune-up from the Yelp quote option, Menooa responded quickly via Yelp messaging and asked me a few more questions about my situation, then arranged a time to call. When he called he gave me some appointment options and let me know he'd call me the following Wednesday for an appt. that Thursday or Friday, but then he called the following Tuesday and let me know he had an opening the next day, which I took. He and his associate showed up on time to my unit masked and with booties, and were super friendly and professional. We just had So Cal Air install two Daikin mini splits --- one for our bedroom (so we can cool only one room at night instead of wasting energy to run our central air conditioning in the rest of the house) and a second one for the garage (so we can use that space more often throughout the year, not just in spring and fall when temperatures are mild). It's been less than a week and summer's 100-degree-plus highs are still to come, but both units appear to function as described so far. The company owners, Menooa and Arshon, were great to deal with. They were professional, friendly and flexible. As they answered our questions, they patiently explained how mini splits work, were open to discussing the best placement for the units indoors and out and willing to negotiate an installation date at a mutually convenient time. They even arranged for us to go to a previous client's home so we could hear for ourselves how truly quiet a mini split is during operation. The installation crew, Victor and Fernando, were punctual, polite and tidy. They double- and triplechecked where each of the units was to be located before drilling any holes and connecting the necessary power, refrigerant and condensation lines. They stayed busy the whole time, breaking briefly for lunch, and managed to install both mini splits in just one day. We would recommend So Cal Air. It was extremely easy to work with Menooa. We communicated by e-mail and he was always prompt to respond with detailed answers. We had a lot of questions since it was our first time dealing with replacing an AC unit and he was very thoughtful in addressing our concerns. When he came to provide the quote for the condenser/furnace he still took care to be properly masked and the courtesy to wear shoe coverings. When he saw that our condenser was from the 1970s, he was not fazed at all and said the only concern was that it was currently on an incline. He recommended that we demo the existing concrete pad that the condenser is on to re-level it and put in a new concrete pad. He also said that if that was too costly, we could also consider a plastic/rubber mat which would also be leveled and up to standards. It was up to our preference. At no time was he ever pushy in selling a product. In the end, we took his recommendation to do the concrete pad. As for the furnace, at initial inspection, he said that it looked like we would need to open up the intake vents which would require some additional patching which his company can do as well (yes! no need to find someone else). He took the time to open up the furnace and basically said that we can change out the furnace to save on labor costs but there's really no reason to replace it since the furnace is still functional. Again, he provided options and his professional recommendation but never pushy to sell additional stuff. In the end, we took his recommendation to not replace the furnace. We would definitely recommend him to all of our family and friends. We got a lot of quotes and what made SoCal Air Condition & Heating stand out is - actually sent out someone who will be working on the equipment vs. a seller - prompt response in providing a quote - answered all of our questions in detail so that we understood why we are paying for the service/equipment/ labor - provided an all in one service - in our case, he had someone who did the concrete pad, if we needed to paint and patch he could provide that service as well read more

Our air condition suddenly stopped blowing cool air three days before people were going to move in to the house. Our usual AC company was going to charge just to come take a look -- at the very unit they installed before, so I decided to try a new company. Menooa was very responsive, understood the urgency and came out with his crew to take a look quickly. They first tried everything else, but nothing worked so he explained and gave me two options: either replace the whole condenser or just the compressor. We opted for the whole thing, he had responsible prices and most importantly had no additional hidden fees and knew we were on a deadline. He promised he'd do it and be done by a certain time. There's a really good reason Menooa has five stars across the board. We asked him to provide a quote on an A/C issue. Our cooling had gone out completely in mid September due to a leak, and two other companies had told us that we needed to replace an entire rooftop unit, which would have involved not only the cost of the unit, but also hiring a crane, and loss of any functionality for the months before we could get the job done. Menooa took a look, and figured out that one coil, under warranty, could be replaced -- saving huge cost and leaving us with a fully functioning heat system in the meantime until the replacement coil could come in. On a hot weekend I started to hear strange mechanical sounds from the attic when the AC came on. Called around on Sunday and Monday, Menooa was able to come early Tuesday morning after I contacted him Monday afternoon. Was actually able to get somebody else in on Monday to look, and he said it would be very difficult to repair the part that was making the noise (the blower motor). He recommended getting a new furnace entirely. Second guy said he wouldn't even try to repair it. Then thankfully Menooa came around, took a look at it, really got into the system and found the problem. Was able to get the parts and come back and repair it the same day, at a very reasonable cost (especially compared to having to get a whole new system and being without AC until then!). We are considering replacing the system with him anyways as it's quite old and inefficient, but we can make that choice on our own time with a fully functional HVAC system in the interim! Super pleased with the service and the craftsmanship he displays - he cleaned up the furnace internals while he was replacing the blower motor I think just because the shoddy work of previous contractors offended him. Referred So Cal Air and Menooa to my brother's household since they were having trouble finding an honest company to come out to fix their A/C unit which wasn't blowing out any cold air. They originally had a different company come out telling them they needed a freon recharge but this other company put in an incorrect type of freon (a cheaper type that can potentially cause severe damage to the A/C unit) and did not fix the problem. So a few different companies came out and the repairs they recommended were all over the board from replacing the evaporator coil to needing a new furnace to needing a new A/C unit or needing everything new with estimates ranging from 2 to over 10 grand. None of them recommended doing a leak test to diagnose the leak saying the test would take too long and wasn't 100% accurate. When Menooa and Robert came out, that was the 1st thing they recommended so they can diagnose exactly where the leak was and what needed to be done. Their explanation was why spend thousands replacing a condenser unit or furnace if it wasn't necessary. So test was done and there was a leak coming from the coil thus a new coil was needed. Their bid to replace/install new coil, freon recharge (the correct expensive type) and also installing 2 new thermostats were the lowest from all the different companies that came out. They also went above and beyond and took it upon themselves to check and do other things that were not requested at no extra charge. Things like climbing on the roof to see if the vents were sealed correctly, checking and flushing out the primary and secondary lines which in this case, the primary line had a clog that couldn't be flushed out so they found the location of the clog and had to cut and replace a section of PVC pipe. Hard work considering they spent majority of time in the attic which we all know can get really hot, stuffy and cramped. In the end, much needed cold air was flowing once again. Great service by Menooa and Robert who are true professionals. It's unfortunate that finding honest people/companies is so hard to do. Glad to have found Menooa at So Cal Air.
