I walked into SoCal bike and was completely blown away with Jim's (owner) friendly personality and knowledge for bikes, and the questions that I had for him regarding my first road bike. So I picked up a used mountain bike, and it needed very little work. I haven't been working on bicycles for about 25 years now, so things have changed a little. Needless to say, my front derailleur needed new cabling and some adjustment. Well, I go into SoCal Bike and I'm met by the owner and I immediately get the "I've got a long line of people ahead of you and no mechanics", and then the "leave your name and number and I'll call you." I explain that I'm good with waiting but I really have this little issue that the derailleur would index correctly. He took one look, grabs the bike, bolts it to the repair stand, and immediately got the cable routed correctly and on my way. It took him all of 2 minutes. He didn't even charge me. I love shops like this that take time out of their day to really help someone out. Even something that was seriously frustrating me. I'll make sure I get over there for my bike needs from now on. Rental 2 electric bikes at the start of the day. within the first mile one of the pedals fell off and we had to walk/ride the bike back. called about it and they said find a way back. after switching the bike out we made it about 2 miles away and the bikes battery died, after we were told they'd last all day. unsatisfied with the experience however the offered a refund for 1 bike which was cool. make sure everything works before you leave, and they DONT last all day!!!!! 2 stars for the refund only. read more

My Rad Mini EBike was stolen. The perps offered it to Jim who bought it for $75 which is ridiculous cheap, and then he notified police and put out the word. I found this place online. We wanted to go on a family bike ride from Oceanside to Carlsbad -- two adults and two teens. The prices here were super reasonable, and the person at the store was very friendly and helpful. We got bikes, locks, and helmets. He gave us a map, and we found our way into Carlsbad going along the coast. We stopped in Carlsbad at the used book store, a restaurant, and a gelato place. It was a beautiful ride! Great bike shop and awesome service! I live in Altadena but visit my uncle in Oceanside a few times a year just to do a long ride from his home on Pacific St. to Ocean Beach and back. It's a great ride! But this particular morning as I was getting ready to take off at 6am.. I made the mistake of not checking my tires the day before. I just assumed that they needed air but did not realize that the air valve on my front tire was broken. I was bummed because it meant that I had to wait until a bike store opened much later than the time I wanted to leave. There was a triathlon going on at the time so i knew that once I left the spot in front of my uncles home that was right on the route.. that I would have a tough time finding parking. I decided to not throw in the towel and do a shorter distance and hopefully find some other place to park. SoCal Bike was the closest bike shop to my uncle's place so I went in as soon as it was open. Jim not only did the repair right away but he allowed me to park in his lot while I did my ride! I was so stoked! It really made my day and not a total failure. Jim had a great inventory of supplies so I was also able to pick up a pair of gloves because I left mine at home :( Things got even better when Jim said they had a sale going on that was buy one get one free! Wooot! This was definitely my lucky day! SoCal Bicycles will always be the first place that I go to in this area if I ever need any service or supplies for my bike! This is THE place to take your bike to get fixed or tuned up! I discovered this cool bike shop from an ad where I got an amazing deal on a tune up. Jim and Luca are THE nicest guys ever! I felt at home and like I was leaving my bike with family to get fixed. They have this cute little dog who welcomes you with hugs and kisses when you walk in. My bike is SUPER clean, oiled and they even put on my bike pedals and seat I bought online for me. Always pass by this place on my way home from work and school on my bike and I had to get a new wheel and tire for my beach cruiser. Jim immediately admitted my bike, had it done in less than a half hour, and gave me a very affordable price. He even threw on some grips for free since I had only had electrical tape on my handles. I needed some rim tape for a tubeless setup on my road bike. I had never visited the store before and called first due to all of the chaos involving the virus. Jim answered and I could tell it was very busy. He told me he would see if they carried what I needed and to call him back in 5 minutes. I was immediately impressed by his attitude, that in the middle of a busy day he was willing to make the effort to find an item that was relatively inexpensive. I called back and Jim told me to come in and he would find what I needed. When I arrived it was was just as busy as I imagined it would be. He didn't have the right width of tape I was after, but he searched his mechanics work areas and eventually found a half-used roll of the right tape.
