Took my daughters EV bike here for rear brake repair and some minor rear wheel fixes. $100 later (100 exactly!), which seemed a little high but what the hell do I know (couple of "bolts" I guess) Rode for about 20 minutes to find my rear wheel went flat!... I'd think for that price I'd get some air in these tires. read more

Took our two old road bikes in for tuneup to insure they'll continue to be safe for us. They're pleasant and clearly knowledgeable about older bikes. Within a few days they'd tuned up both bikes and recommended a little additional work on one of them. . Because of the tune up they didn't charge additional labor for the additional parts/work. We're very happy with their work, the cost, and the amount of time it took. read more

Being here in Oceanside for vacation, that wasn't going to work out for us. We came across SoCal Bikes looking to rent bikes. Jim got us a GREAT deal on 2 bikes for 1 week AND repaired my son's bike in less than 10 minutes!! These guys are great; very pleasant, and knows customer service! I walked in, told the owner what I was looking for comfort wise in a bike, and he led me directly to the bike I ended up buying. I purchased a used bike from Jim (the owner). There were some minor issues with the bike and Jim went out of his way to fix the problem. In addition, while I was waiting for the bike to be repaired Jim allowed me to temporarily loan a bike until mine was ready. Jim gave me a great price on a great bike. Sadly my bike was stolen 2 weeks after I brought it home. Jim was courteous, professional and I will never go anywhere else to buy another bike. If I could give him a higher rating I would. If you need a bike, they are only good for wasting your time. They do not know how to answer the phone or communicate with customers. The old gentleman pushed us to buy a bike, telling us it would be ready the next day, then proceeded to not answer our calls and failed to contact us the next two days the day after purchasing the bike that we agreed on a full restoration for(which i had paid for the day i bought it but none of those services were ever performed). Very disappointed with our service and I do not recommend using them for ANYTHING. Very unprofessional as we ended up going to pick up the bike ourselves and take it somewhere else where they deserve the money. Every time we walked in there were only teenagers working and they also failed to communicate or answer the phone. read more

I had to recently get my son's mountain bike tuned up and had never been to SoCal bike before. From start to finish the experience was great. Understandably, there was a delay in getting an appointment but once the bike was brought i, it only took about a week to get fixed. Both the lady and the gentleman that helped me during my visits were really nice. Plus when I picked up the bike, it had been cleaned and I had never seen that before. Looked like a new bike! I'm not mad. Just disappointed. My experience each time I have come in has gotten exponentially worse. Today was it for me. Firstly, If I walk inside and the employees arent wearing a masks, don't ask me to wear one and say to me "you can leave now" with a naked face. What kind of hypocritical nonsense is that?... I live right around the corner so I stop in for random supplies and today is 100% the last time I will support them- which is a bummer. I'm all about supporting local shops but even after my ridiculous first interaction, the inventory was lacking, the products were not reachable and all of the other interactions had a 'we don't need your business' kind of attitude. read more

Us Tennesseans rented two hybrid bikes for a sunny and cool am ride from Jim's shop in Oceanside south through Carlsbad down the PCH to Encinitas as he suggested-- approx 18mi RT. Rental bikes were well serviced, clean and reasonable. We hope to do it again soon. read more

It was bad enough that my bike developed brake issues the day before a 3-day ride in Joshua Tree, but then I stupidly left my wheel along a bike path after trying to fix it myself. SoCal was considerably out of my neighborhood, but when I called and Jim said he could fix me up in time for our trip, I traveled the extra miles. It was well worth it.
