I recommend Dr. Wan (truly a gem!) but NOT the hospital or any other vet. Pros: Dr. Wan Cons: They charge $130 for at home visit no matter how close (such as less than 1/4th of a mile, we're walking distance) plus mileage/fuel fee. $20-$40 Id understand for a travel fee outside of Norco... But this is just taking advantage of a situation. They've also tried to pressure me to trailer a in a sick horse to them... If you don't want to offer a service just don't do it, but don't get annoyed or stick salesmen about it if you choose to offer a service. Administrative end; details go missing, instructions for meds are incomplete, they don't return calls, when requesting things like X-rays you don't get all images you paid for, tried to charge me a second time months later, you have to chase after them for bloodwork results. And worst of all... The last vet for a home visit was the rudest person I ever experienced. She kept criticizing me as if I she expected an apologize for me following the office's instructions (apparently they were wrong). I thought a sick horse was the worst part of the day but it turned out to be the vet. So no... I don't recommend this location unless it's emergency, or... UNLESS you can get Dr Wan, who understandably is very popular and nearly impossible to get an appointment with, I highly recommend him. This location is about as far away as you can get from Dr. Pol. Dr. Weatherall nearby, and busy with another Horse, took a quick moment to also make sure we were OK. It is very dramatic when you have a sick horse but everyone made me feel that it was going to be ok. I truly felt the compassion all the way around. And I was very surprised because the pricing was very reasonable. Recommendation to everyone, keep your doctor informed when you start seeing problems and try calling ahead when you trailer your horse in. What a crazy thanksgiving day we had are horse spooked and landed and fell on a bench in are back yard. The horse hit the corner, and there is blood gushing out of his neck we called are Vet and someone was to get back to me. My husband was putting pressure on the horses neck and it was an emergency for someone to get out there ASAP. I called this place spoke to Cassie told to keep pressure on this horse and she's on her way. She came in 10 minutes. Gave him pain medicine. We got him to the hospital and they worked on our flea bitten gray horse right away he stayed overnight and they just called me saying he's doing great they stitched him up and he's ready to be picked up. This horse was definitely in need of a vet all I want to say is this place is amazing. I've love this place and she was very upfront telling me the fees Cassie we love you. Update- our horses are thriving, thanks to great care by Dr Castellano. We also needed help with our llama Bandana who had a huge abscess on the right side of her face. We have been struggling with treating this issue for the last 3 years. So many treatments and a surgery. Nothing got rid of it. Finally- Dr C prescribed antibiotics & a drain installed in the affected area. Llamas are really HARD to treat because they are really sensitive to meds. Dr Wan & Dr C saved our llamas life. After 4 weeks of very strong antibiotics ( we crushed them up and added probiotic powder & electrolytes plus Ritz crackers ) she is now so much better and her lesion tested negative for infection. She now has a drain and she is up and around- instead of laying in pain and groaning. We didn't think she would make it. But she DID. I am sending all of my animal friends to call SoCal Equine for their kindness, great work and excellent results . God Bless them with continued success . read more

Dr Wan has cared for my horses since 2006. He's been faithful in his practice with our horses and gives the best care. In 2018, we had an emergency and our horse needed emergency surgery. He skillfully corrected a rare blockage in the colon due to a subdermal hematoma, a result of cancer in the colon. His expertise and compassion cannot be surpassed. We moved to San Diego, but still consider Dr Wan and his staff our veterinarians. read more

SoCal equine seems to be a fly by night facility that only cares about one thing and that's the money the doctors on the other hand are very good and should consider replacing those who assist them with employees that have empathy and compassion and are not short fused. Took my French bulldog for a C section. We did a ultrasound on our female and was confirmed 4-5 pups. They send us home and said we'll call you when she's ready. Came back to pick up pups and they only gave me 3 puppies. I've heard of things like this happen before at clinics but wouldn't of thought they would do it here. Don't take your pets here THEY TOOK ONE OR TWO OF MY PUPPIES! Go to a clinic that has a video cam. I have heard of places doing this but never thought it would happen to me. read more

Screw this place man.. My dog started digging at 3am and I was already in the system for a scheduled reverse test that was coming in a few days here. I called the emergency line the doctor they connected me with refused to deliver my puppies saying she may not have proper equipment. Why wouldn't you have proper equipment if your working an emergency shift she sounded lazy like she didn't want to work.. Key word emergency!!! I even told her everywhere else was booked and busy.I kind of begged this doctor. I ended up having to drive my dog to mission hospital in Palmdale and they did great my dog ended up having 8 beautiful puppies a few hours after this hospital turned me away. Mission hospital said they don't know why they wouldn't take my dog at day 59. Anyways never going to this place and if you are DONT RELY ON THEM FOR AN EMERGENCY HAVE A BACKUP PLAN read more

On July 11th, 2018 our mare was admitted to Socal Equine Hospital for colic symptoms. She was treated by their veterinarians, and they released her on July 13th. The vets claimed she was good to come home. The following days at home her condition remained the same, and did not improve. I called the hospital several times to try to speak with the vet, with great difficulty getting a call back. The mare developed an infection from the IV catheter site and showed signs of distress and was taken to the Socal equine hospital for the 2nd time at 1:35 AM on July 20th. It was then the vets ran bloodwork and suspected an infection and also intestinal torsion, and rushed her into colic surgery. The vets found intestinal torsion during the surgery. They repaired the torsion, but our mare could not stand after surgery and passed away around 3:30pm on July 20th, 2018. In conclusion, the veterinarian's malpractice is the reason our mare died. She was sent home on July 13th when in reality she had partial torsion, which the veterinary practice CLEARLY and completely missed. She was sent home and also developed an IV catheter infection due to poor cleanliness and incorrect procedure placement of the IV catheter site. We expressed our unhappiness with their practice and fault in the loss of our mare and they never even offered to discount our huge hospital bill. Make the trip to Chino Hills equine hospital if you need proper veterinary care. read more

Update, my singleton pup that was delivered, died at six days old, presumably by a infection that they caused during the c section. They cut the umbilical cord very close to his skin and nicked him and he had to be stitched up. read more

I don't write reviews on Yelp often but please read this thoroughly and do not use this business. I called them in November of last year to schedule a pre-purchase exam for a horse that the organization I work for was going to purchase. They set up the appointment with one of their vets, and I gave them my name, phone number and email so that I could be the point of contact when it was time for the vet to go out and examine the horse. I frequently set up PPE's for the organization I work for, and I always let them know over the phone that the organization (which I always name) will pay the bill. The exam went well and the horse was bought, and I personally never heard from them again. Last week, I received a letter in the mail from the American Credit Bureau that I had a debt which had been sent to collections. At first, I thought it was a scam. I called the credit bureau however and sure enough, they told me there was a charge at an equine hospital in Norco, CA that had been sent to collections. I recognized the name (SoCal Equine), but I thought there was no way they could put a debt in my name and send it to collections without any information beyond my name/number/email, and no attempt to contact me. I immediately called SoCal Equine's office, and explained to the woman I spoke to what the situation was. I told her I would have told whoever I spoke to (as I always do) the name of the organization that should have been billed, she interrupted me and said "it would have been me you spoke to, and I actually remember you talking to me and it wasn't clear." Assuming she did clearly remember a single brief phone call with me 7 months ago, my main concern of course was how on earth they were able to do this without any attempt to reach me or the organization, and for my credit score to now be affected. I told her I'd call her back, and I checked with the organization's Office Manager, CEO, etc. and they had not received any calls or bills from SoCal Equine. I personally, of course, had not either. After checking records, I called her back. At this point, she told me that when she hung up with me earlier, she went back and listened to a recording of our phone call (from November 2021) and that it "wasn't clear" who to bill. This seemed ludicrous to me, and I should also point out that they do not mention anything about recording you when picking up the phone. I asked her if I could get a copy of that recording and she said "we don't give out copies of those recordings." Ok, fine. She continued to deny they knew anything about this organization at all, so it had all been pinned on me. I then asked her what address she had on file that they had supposedly been sending bills to. Low and behold, she gave me the address of the organization. I asked her if they had been sending bills to that address--she said yes. I told her we 100% never received anything. To this she said "Well, I don't know then." I asked her why no one had received any calls either before this was sent to collections--she said they don't call, they only send bills. Ok...doesn't seem like a good practice, but fine. We never received anything. I also questioned how she was able to put a debt in my name and get it sent to collections with only my name/number/email (no social security number, etc.) She said they "hire a research company" to do it for them (essentially this sounded like an investigative company of some sort that finds my information for them?) Again, big red flags here and this seemed very sketchy. I also want to point out that during this conversation, she would continually interrupt me in an irritated, defensive tone. She tried to get off the phone several times. So along with these extremely poor business practices, this woman is blatantly rude and unprofessional. When I finished my phone conversation with her, I told her I never got her name, and asked for her full name. She responded "I'll give you my first name but I'm not giving you my last name." Really?...if everything prior to this wasn't an indication that their business is faulty and sketchy, this certainly was. I told her sure, I'd take her first name. She paused and said "It's Stephanie." I said "Ok thank you, that's Stephanie (and spelled it out)?" and she paused again and said "Sure." Lastly, I will just point out that if you look at other negative reviews on this Yelp page, you'll see multiple complaints about their billing department and customer service. I even found a review from someone else who was put in a similar situation as myself and was dealing with the same issue. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and filing a complaint with the CFPD. They should not be able to operate in the way that they are. Side note-- the bill was paid by our organization and it took them several days and 3 reminder phone calls to send proof of payment to the collections agency, when they told us they would do it day-of. read more

They were very quick to take him in, monitor him, and judge whether they should take him into surgery. The facility is beautiful and clean. Very impressive. My 18yo mare had to be brought in as an emergency 2 weeks ago. Misha was my emergency equine ambulance...she was amazing. Kind, quiet and gentle with my mare who was in colic distress. When we arrived at the hospital, Misha led her into the stocks (my mare had never been in stocks before) and again was kind, gentle and patient with her. Got her in the stocks in 5 minutes! My mare was needle phobic, so again with patience and knowledge, they were able to sedate her, and place an IV and evaluate her condition. Dr. Burke was amazing. She was so thorough, and even consulted with Dr. Wan, and we all agreed with Lucy's condition and the potential outcome. Once we decided that the kindest, and unselfish thing to do was to let Lucy go, Dr. Burke gave me her shoulder to cry on. What a kind and caring person and Vet. The staff was quiet and kind with Lucy who could be very challenging (some would say dangerous) but they treated her with dignity, and respect. Didn't manhandle her, or berate her. And she responded to their kindness. Under the difficult circumstances, they were all very helpful, and the facility is clean, modern, and use state of art technology. They saved my horses life. My 12yr old paint who is always healthy had colic. So I called my regular vet and could not get a hold of him. So my sister in law had her vet come.. She gave my horse the meds and mineral oil. But said he has no gut sound and to check on him every Hr.. well by the 3rd hr he was worse.. so my husband loaded him in the trailer and dropped him off.. probably around 10:30-11:00pm.. So Cal called at 2:30 and said if we would like to save him we need the surgery.. They quoted $7500-$10,000. My first response was I guess we will just put him down .. But then thinking how much we all love this horse we decided to do it.. well our horse did not just have colic. His intestines were kinking his liver.. so just the regular home vet medicine would have not worked anyway.. and after the surgery his kidneys were not doing so good because of all the toxins.. I was so sad.. But they were keeping a close eye on him.. The horse was at the vet for almost 2 weeks. He would have been out sooner if he did not have all those extra complications.. and our bill was only $8500.. the vet both of them were extremely nice.. they let us know on a daily basis how our horse was doing. They let us see the horse every day.. and I found out regular trail horses can get medical insurance.. for only $340-$500 a year.. and this whole surgery would have been covered.. I had a really good experience with them.. Update.. It's been almost 2yrs and my paint is healthy and I get to ride him all the time.. But since then my other horse had colic symptoms.. so we took her in.. She got oiled.. She spent 5 days in the hospital.. They did everything.. And with the mustang I actually got insurance.. Well After finding nothing they can see.. Dr Wong called her insurance and got a exploratory surgery approved.. He hooked her up to fluids and she was fine.. So he let her come home .. So Obviously Dr Wong is not about the money.. Because he could have done the surgery.. But he did what he thought was the best decision for my horse.. He could have got up to $15,000 .. A honest vet is hard to find .. I thank Dr Wong and his awesome staff.. read more

This terrible hospital in Norco has lost my business. They did my horse's X-rays 2 weeks ago. The vet who saw him said the head vet/surgeon would call me back after reviewing the xrays but he'll probably need surgery which we went ahead and scheduled. I still have yet to hear back from any of them! I've called and left numerous messages but....nothing. Funny, I left a bad review on FB and both vets immediately called both my husband and I back! Interesting, as their receptionist (who was extremely rude and condescending) just told my husband that "they have been too busy to call anyone back", yet as soon as a bad review was put up they found the time to call. ( PLEASE READ!!!!) I had a horse who was basically collapsing even trying to get him to walk he would collapse so I called this place. BIGGEST MISTAKE. Took an hour to come out which is understandable because it's in norco I live in riverside. Had a doctor come by and check him temperature and feel his head and spine and say " oh yeah it's something neurological " that's there's something wrong with his brain. She gave US the medicine to give HIM and say that give it to him everyday and if he gets better than he gets better and if not than I don't know what to tell you because I don't know what's wrong with him. Like really? Your the vet how do you not know what's wrong with him?? She had no idea what was wrong with him but gave us $300 medicine we had to give him for something we didn't even know he needed or not. Her visit alone was $500 for what? For her not knowing what's she was supposed to have had practice for? I truly think she did not do her job properly or even correctly just to feel his head and spine and say it was something neurological when it wasn't. My horse is now dying and on it's last two legs because of a " veterinarian " not doing their job. I hurt my horses eye area by accident and it was bleeding the skin and I didn't know whether her eye or what it was traumatizing to me and they came right away and I'm about five minutes away from my place. The Best! Dr.Wan removed a sarcoma from my dads paint horses' ear. It was a very difficult procedure because of the location of the sarcoma (inside lower part of ear). Went there to get a vet check on a horse for a potential buyer. One of the vets, Dr. Tim? Said the horse passed in his eyes, but the female vet who proclaimed her checks were 'very thorough' failed the horse. So our buyer was out $430+ and no horse. We got a new vet check today with x-rays included for another potential buyer with a different vet and the horse passed with flying colors. Sorry, I think your thorough exam was just a way of saying, "I will find a way to fail this horse". The original potential buyer is now super bummed and pissed that she spent the money and I feel bad, because the horse was truly everything we said and more and she could have had a great partner. I also feel that because we told the vet the potential buyer hadn't been able to ride the horse yet she was going to fail him anyways, because she put her judgement ahead of what was ethical and true. I was hesitant to say anything about this, but after reading all of the other reviews, there seems to be a common theme here: unfortunately, some members of the office staff are profoundly rude. I have never had such negative interactions with any other veterinary medical staff anywhere else. The first time I called, one of the receptionists thought she put me on hold but apparently didn't press the right button, and I could hear her say to someone else "Ugh I don't want to talk to this lady" - I had never even been there before, we had no previous interactions, and there was absolutely no reason for her to have anything against me at that point. The second time (don't ask me why I tried to go there again; I guess I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt) I was trying to get documentation ready for some horses to travel - something I've done many times (as recently as 2 months ago) and am quite familiar with the process of doing. Since I didn't know the exact travel dates yet, I wanted to just go ahead and get the coggins going for the one horse that doesn't have one so we wouldn't have to rush it at the last minute, and wait to do the health certificates until we have a departure date. This receptionist told me that you cannot get a coggins without a health certificate, which really surprised me because I had just done exactly that with 2 other horses two months ago. When I was clearly confused by bizarre and apparently new policy, she said "I already explained this to you so, I don't know what else to say or why you don't understand..." At that point I was so dumbfounded I didn't even know how to react, and admittedly almost lost it on her. But I ended up getting off the phone and scheduling with another vet who was more than happy to do a coggins now and health certificate at a later date (and why wouldn't he be, that's two farm calls!) A few hours later someone else from SoCal Equine called me back and gingerly told me yes we can do a coggins without a health certificate at the same time, but with no apology for how the other receptionist spoke to me earlier like I was an idiot (when she was the one who was wrong), and at that point there was absolutely no way I would give them any of my business ever again. I hope this place takes a long hard look at their office staff and considers how the attitude (and ignorance) of the person answering the phones could be affecting their business. It is difficult to know if the Equine veterinarians are as skilled as one would hope them to be as, for at least one provider, the ego and inability to relate empathetically to the client makes for an awful "bedside manner." My quarter horse had a pretty bad accident, with our regular vet not answering any of our phone calls we searched around and gave Dr. Wan a call and he was able to get us in within half an hour. Drove out from Perris to get our horse treated and stitched, Dr. Wan explained the whole processes as he went along which gave us peace of mind. My horse came in with a cracked sinus bone and a 2 inch gash that was gushing out loads of blood, we honestly didn't think he was gonna make it through. All In all, I was very satisfied with the service we received. I'll definitely be coming back for any future emergencies. read more

Mixed bag. Dr Gaylon (sic) is very competent and knowledgeable. Wouldnt mind having her as my personal vet if my existing one retires, but there seems to be a hole in her back up. She met with us after an emergency and did a fine job on a Saturday night, including requesting lab work. She was then off for a few days and no one followed up. Consequently, the lab work went a week without a result. This seems unreasonable, but not atypical for some professions because pushing for results isnt always pleasant. However, they would be well served to train their staff to push the envelope and follow up on the behalf of their top vets so key items dont end up as incomplete and they appear disorganized. Also, you can expect a price dispute unless you get all costs it in writing, but this has nothing to do with Dr Gaylon and is true of most professions. She is sound. Pushing others for results isnt for everyone and she will give you peace of mind when you feel distressed at the outset. The daily care seems reasonable. read more
