I wish I had a better review to write, but this has been severely disappointing all-around. We hired SoCal to landscape our yard, fix our sprinkler system and install a sail system over our patio with lighting. The quote process was very loose and it took about a month from our first consult and walk through to getting a contract in place. What was to take 3 to 4 weeks took over 4 months to wrap up. Beyond the inconvenience of how long the project took, the biggest issue was communication. We never knew when crew was coming by, and when we were told someone would be by at a specific time, they rarely met the expectations they set. This led to delays because the crew would need access to the house or garage and no one would be there to let them in. Weeks would go by with no contact or activity with no explanation. There were plenty of other issues throughout. One example is that the new pavers were laid in well enough, but we asked the removed pavers to be saved so that we could use them on another project. Our pavers were junked along with the other yard debris - an extra cost for the contractor and a loss for us as well. One of several lose-lose situations that arose throughout the project. It's been a real bummer. The people we interact with are nice enough, but they just never seemed to have a plan, so it was a chaotic process from beginning to end. I can't reasonably recommend them in any way. read more

OMG, RUN! Just RUN! This is about not caring enough to finish things to a decent level. Somehow, using premium components that we carefully selected for our guest suite bath remodel, items were assembled in such a way that it looked like a Jr. High shop class bumbled their way through it! If you are foolhardy and contract with these folks, and a short guy named Luis shows up with his brother in law Carlos (who was a decent fellow); just stop right there and ask for a do-over! His crew supervisor Oded will shout you down til they get their way and it will not end well for YOU the paying customer. I TRUST THIS GUY WITH MY EYES CLOSED, he intoned- at high volume- in my HOME. Perhaps he should open them. I mean a loose, rocking toilet?, a crooked shower valve? Basic things were performed with the craft level of a half trained chimpanzee! We had SoCal do a complete remodel of our master bath. Ella was great to work with and she has an eye for design. As with all construction, there were some delays and a few miscommunications, but overall the project was on track and at the end we are so happy with how it turned out. Javier and his crew were excellent. He was attentive to our requests, went out of his way to make us happy. If I could give them 0 stars we would. This company just gives you the runaround. We received a quote from Linor and Javier (Foreman) in mid August this year for a bathroom remodel. Total cost around $14K plus we're covering supplies (i.e. tiles, vanity, shower, toilet); keep in mind we've demoed the bathroom for them and removed all items including the entire shower unit. The projected start is 8/20 with a completion date or 9/20-- we place out $1000 deposit down and the communications stop basically. We essentially following up with them to get tile samples, updates on the project starting for the next three month. Fast forward to 11/29/18 Linor and Avi (Field Manager) come back to "review" the bathroom and "find" we need to replace the pipes...and add another $4000. I call Linor the next morning 11/30/18 to ask where this is coming from as our original 8/15/18 quote also noted this exact work to be done and I also questioned the sense of urgency since it's been over 3 months with no work being started/completed. She felt "attacked" making mention that she drove to Downey to pick up tile samples from what we sent her links to on Floor and Decor - however she forgot that she actually sent us a text saying that they got delivered to Carmel Valley and that she was picking them up. (See screenshot) She says we should speak with Avi her supervisor because we've "questioned" her integrity. We speak with Avi the same day later that afternoon and he is no better help, making excuses for Linor saying that she has been trying to get ahold of us but we have no record of this; every text she's sent, we've replied to within the same day, except once. He indicated he was out on a job but would get the office to send him the August quote and review his quote from the day before with the $4k increase and give me a call by the end of the day. No call back-11/30, I text him that evening asking why we didn't hear from him as e assured me, no reply. 12/1, 12/3, go by, 12/4-I leave him a message and text him stating we're waiting for his Friday follow but have heard nothing and ask that he calls us back ASAP. 12/5-I call the office and speak with Corrine, she states she will give him the message and apologies for the delay. About 10 mins go by and Corrine calls me back and tells me that he's in a meeting but will call me back in 30 minutes (this would be about 1:30pm) This is the first time someone shows some accountability and customer service. **Shoutout to Corrine! ** I tell her I appreciate her and ask if I should hear back from him by 2:30pm, she says absolutely, the meeting is only 30 minutes and he's going call right after it's over. No callback until 4pm, I ask what happened to him for the last few days, no response , he just starts asking me what I have decided we are going to continue to work with them going to use another company. The lack of customer service is overwhelming at this point it's clear, That there's no working with this company, they're not interested in tending to the services they claim to provide nor do they care about how they speak with you. Although they're in home remodeling, this is still a customer based industry, we're not asking for the customer to always be right but a little tact goes along way in this type of industry when we could as customers go to any other company and receive a better quality of service even if that means paying more to receive it. This company has no interest in diversifying themselves between their competitors by providing reasonable expectations, solid quotes, credentialed employees. Heed the warning there are several other reviews indicating almost very similar language the one consistent ride with this company is that they do not care about their customers they're hot button is getting as much money out of the customer without doing what the customer in fact wants and that is not a company that I would ever choose to work or partner with. read more

I hired so cal to pour 1200sq ft of concrete, put up two retaining walls, and move an irrigation manifold. First off the job starter two weeks after the proposed date they gave me once signing contract. Finally a crew starts the job and three days in they vanish. This was a crew that the salesman particularly wanted for my job just quit or something. So another two weeks go by and another crew starts. Let me remind you this is now over a month since the proposed start date. Almost 7 weeks from signing contract. I have had nothing but problems with this company and zero accountability on there end. I heard nothing but excuses when a problem came up. For example, they moved a water manifold. Once moved it was leaking. I was told "that's due to the pressure since we just moved it, it will stop in 24-48 hours". 72 hours later still leaking. Someone comes out again they replace manifolds. Guess what? Still leaking. Another 3 days go by they send a new guy out to replace.(have never seen this guy on the job before. He replaces the manifold with a completely new/larger one and he told me the ones that were on there "were cheap and not good". Amazing I get some honesty that the manifolds the other crew purchased and used were CHEAP. The major issue I have been having and still continue to have is with the concrete. I have a major crack in the concrete, this is no hairline fracture(see picture). I informed so cal of this crack on July 5th. To this date not one person has come to check it out aside from the project manager. He does not know how to fix so he took pictures. Another two weeks go by and I haven't heard anything so I call. They say they are trying to find a foreman to evaluate, and the Foreman is on a big job for a month so i am going to have to wait a month. Does this company only have one foreman? I thought they were a large company. Danny told me that the concrete job in my backyard was pretty small compared to the typical jobs they do....first off what does that have to do with anything and wouldn't that mean the company should have more than one foreman? Its been 5 weeks now and still no foreman has showed up. This crack happened about 2 weeks after job was completed and paid in full. Be very careful when paying, i guess once they get paid the customer service goes out the door...oh wait I never recall any customer service from so cal.......I urge you to stay away from them doing any work on your home...Remember they are too big for resident jobs 1200 sq ft of concrete, a 40ft retaining wall, 30ft retaining wall is "a small job" for the company according to Danny. Bad, No accountability. They're just Rogue (in a bad way). My phone conversation with Mr. Scott was interesting. He called to schedule an appointment for our bathroom remodel. He said: 1. He and his boss do the actual construction. No salespeople. 2. He said that he was a licensed contractor 3. He shows up everyday on the project. 4. He scheduled an appointment for the following Monday. So I checked on him: License number belonged to So Cal and he's not listed as a contractor, but rather a salesperson...? They are a real company with no strikes that I found. But, they couldn't Identify who he was and they said that they's look into it but never returned my call. This was Friday. On Monday, the day we were scheduled to meet. I missed work and focused on preparing for our meeting. Mr Scott did NOT SHOW up! He did NOT CALL! This is a sketchy company. With Salespeople calling themselves licensed contractors. No one at the company seems to understand who anyone on their license is. They wasted my time and my work day. Avoid them. Don't even trust that they'll show up. By the way, I don't usually write a negative review unless the company deserves it. Remodeling costs a tremendous amount of time and money, in our case about $100k, I think that you need a reliable contractor from the start... AND those are rare. They call me three times a day. Each time, I politely ask them to remove me from their call list. They say ok, and we exchange "have a nice day"s. Yet they continue to call me. Today, I asked the woman to please stop calling me and she said "we're not a marketing company; we don't call you". ....ok. That makes a lot of sense. Guess my problem is all fixed. UGLY to AWESOME Yard. My mother recently bought a house in Santee which had a front yard of dying crabgrass. She wanted to have a low-maintained, drought resistant yard. She contacted SoCal Home Remodeling and within a few days Ella came out, discussed what my mother was looking for. After Ella's suggestions of what might work and look good my mother and Ella came up with a design. Nico is extremely knowledgeable of succulents! He provided a virtual 3D proposal of what the yard could look like, she was very excited and LOVED what he had proposed. The entire job was done in segments and Ella was so personal able and would come and check on the progress to make sure everything was as my mother wanted. There was never a time that Ella did not know what or how the progress of the job was going. Ella & Nico were ALWAYS there responding to our texts, phone calls within the hour, never worried about them not following through with anything throughout the project. Ella was extremely generous, she increased the size of the front porch at no additional cost, and it looks fabulous. Good eye Ella and thank you for the bonus porch space. The completion timeline of the job was extremely close to what was stated in the contract. I believe that this was all due to Ella's interaction with my mother and workers. The end result was exactly what Nico had presented. My mother now LOVES the front porch/yard. We have neighbors stopping by all the time admiring the yard making wonderful comments!!! This project was an absolute nightmare almost right from the start. It began with a rather slimy gentleman coming to the house to give us a general estimate of our job. We were looking to build a concrete/stucco courtyard wall and gate. It quickly became apparent that the man who was sent was a salesman rather than a contractor or builder, although he definitely tried to come off as an expert. He kept referring to our job as a "retaining wall" even after we corrected him several times (it's also clear when looking at our yard that there was nothing to "retain") He quickly pitched us an estimate during that same visit and told us that he would take a certain (and significant) percentage off of the price if we signed the contract that day. We were lured in by the deal as his bid came in at least $1000 cheaper than most of the other companies who came to give us their quotes. BIG MISTAKE! We were also told that the job would take 2 weeks. It ended up taking over one month for them to complete. When I asked him for a simple rendering of the project plans, he was quick to reassure me that "this is an easy job. You don't need a drawing." Um. Yes. We do...I told him that this was an industry standard and that we just want to be sure that everyone is on the same page and that the idea in our head matched their plans. After going back and forth with me about it for nearly a week, he finally agreed to send us the same plans that the builders would be using in order to do their work. The day before they were to break ground, I was finally sent the simple drawings. Low and behold, they were WRONG! I let him know where the problems were and he assured me that it would be fixed by the next day. The next day, my husband went out to find that the workers had dug trenches at the wrong angles. When they showed him the plans, we found them to be the unchanged drawings from the day before. The entire project was riddled with mistakes and delays. For example, we wanted a sleeve placed under the wall to allow for irrigation and electrical, however we found them pouring concrete into the trench without first placing the sleeve. My husband ran down to home depot right then purchased everything for them so that it could be placed before the concrete dried. The men working on the wall were very nice and one of them told us that we had been grossly under-bid. Apparently there was no way they could do the job at the price we paid, however that's what you get when you have a slimy salesman selling the job he knows nothing about. They also said, "this happens all the time and it's the biggest complaint of the homeowners." In the end, we got our wall, however our gate doesn't close properly. In fact, it doesn't close at all after a good rain. We ended up being our own foremen and we saved some money, but it absolutely wasn't worth it. I can't speak for any of their other work, but we were anything but impressed. We learned the hard way that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is...Well it was...Don't do it! read more

His recommendations were "Man, these guys are the best in the world" Coming from him was all I needed to move forward with my project. The remodeling was taking a 1979 design and making it a 2016 efficient design. I love the new look and the efficiencies that were installed with the project. Danny is an awesome individual. he had to manage this job getting directions from my wife, daughter and myself. Have to bring the three of us on one accord was a challenge all by itself. Heck, I felt sorry for Danny that he had to deal with us. He was always upbeat, professional and focused on ensuring that what we wanted was what we received. There were a couple of unforeseen challenges that we had to overcome. I'm sure it cost him more to make the necessary corrections but he did not change our agreed upon price. Bait and switch.... they come off very professional, organized and willing to work with anyone on price. When the work is being done, they are lazy, demand more money even though milestones aren't completed and constantly delay or argue about contracts and the work they say is "done". We used them for our LARGE backyard remodel and had nothing but problems after about 3weeks of work. We almost went to arbitration to get them to fix al of the drains they messed up and we had to have the owner drive down from LA to meet with us about the issues. We are still having warranty issues now, 3years later, and they are saying they don't have our contract and never did work for us. Such a lie. They are dishonest, do not honor warranty work, have the worst customer service and follow through and I will continue to hunt down their owner until I get my yard fixed. DO NOT hire them. read more

We met with him on Sunday afternoon and the project was done at the end of the day that Wednesday. The crew working were very professional and did great work. We were looking for a hardscape contractor to demo our existing backyard two patio areas, put in new stamped concrete, seal off and remove existing irrigation, re-install and mortar some flagstone over concrete in our courtyard, build a gas fire pit and work on our utility side of our house. There were few reviews for SoCal for work such as this, but I called them anyway. We had already received two other quotes from competing companies. Avi, (Aviram Amar) who is a project manager for the company came out, gave us a quote and explained in great detail the process, the company and his own history. He also said that there was a huge discount if we signed that day. Knowing that in advance, having the previous quotes and my belief that Avi was someone I could trust we decided to sign a contract with them. As with any project of any magnitude there were a few problems that arose during the construction mostly due to unanticipated issues, including rain delays. Each time Avi was made aware of an issue he took action and corrected the problem promptly. He was usually reachable any time of day or night either by phone or text unless he was in a meeting or with another customer. However, he always returned the call as soon as he could, even when he was in Israel on vacation one time. There were numerous times we talked in the late evening about the day's progress and what was to be scheduled the next day or two. He never let me down and my faith in him was reaffirmed throughout the process. Five months after the work was complete this past April an underground irrigation leak developed on our utility side of the house two weeks ago. I called Avi and he came out as soon as he could to look at the problem and had his crew out the very next day to fix the problem. Another individual that was very knowledgeable, approachable and a pleasure to work with was Chris who was the supervisor for the project. His input and recommendations were very valuable, and by incorporating some of his recommendations the project turned out better than I envisioned. I don't know if there are other project managers for this company that are involved with hardscape, however, if one decides to employ this company I highly recommend Avi as the project manager, you will not regret that decision. We are extremely happy with the way the project turned out and definitely recommend SoCal for this type of work. Terrible initial customer service. I should have known when I first spoke to a rep from the company when he asked how much I wanted to spend on my project when I was calling him for a bid?!?! We had our railing done since when we moved in the railing was older and not up to code. Since we have a 1 year old we needed a safer railing and one where we can install a gate at the top of the stairs. Every gate and adapter we tried did not work with our old railing. So we specifically told SoCal Home it has to work for a gate and we explained the issues on why other gates and adapters didn't work. Number 1 issue I'm having is they didn't remove the problem of the base being too wide. They instead put the railing on top of the previous base that was the whole issue when they weren't supposed to. Per our discussions this wasn't supposed to happen. But I left for a few hours when the workers for first here and came back to half the railing already installed and the base still there. They did offer to cut the base so it's not so wide but now the issue is the gate would be way too high and our son can climb under it. I've posted photos for reference to our issue. Issue 2) I had to stay on top of them by constantly calling and emailing for updates. We made our first payment for our railing at the end of August and they didn't start the railing until mid-October. Issue 3) i was never given plans of the railing or any type of photo or 3d rendering. If I had been this would've avoided the whole issue. We are first time homeowners so we were trying to be patient when things seemed off and in hind sight we should've been more vocal. But everyone is very nice there and try to provide good customer service so we tried to be patient and understanding. They received two stars for their customer service and the railing is a nice railing but definitely not what we had planned. Issue 4 there was stain from the railing on my floors and my carpet. As well as many missed spots. There's still a part of the under side that is completely missing stain and I'm waiting for them to give me a touch up can to fix it. We also had solar done through them and I must say that was an easier process. But our solar was installed about 3 weeks ago and still isn't on. We are waiting on sdge to give the final ok to turn it on but when we called them to ask what the hold up was they said that it only takes 5-10 business days for them to process things and turn things on. So it sounds more like socal home didn't get sdge the paperwork they needed right away since it's been more than 10 business days. At least that's what sdge told us. I'm honestly torn on recommending them. They were kind and nice but considering the issues we've encountered I would say be careful and make sure you have plans set in stone so you aren't promised one thing and then come home to the wrong thing done on your project. I left them a voicemail when we couldn't install the gate so I'm hoping they will offer us some money back since there's no way to fix the issue unless they redo the whole railing the way it was supposed to be done. read more

I'll definitely go with the company again! Their team follow up all the way through from the beginning of the project till the end! I was super scared to have my entire roof done but they did a fantastic job! The workers are so clean and didn't leave anything behind! Always seek for customer satisfaction. The best of all, Lior is my project manager and he follow through from the very beginning! I am very satisfied and would love to refer the company to the others! We had artificial grass put in our back yard 14 months ago. It was the best quality we had seen. About 10 months later we noticed that you can see the seam. This is not normal. It was in March that I noticed it and just the beginning of the virus lock-down, so my inability to get a hold of them did not seem strange. Now I get, with all numbers available, that the number(s) no longer exist. Is SOCAL HOME REMODELING out of business? I would surely like to know. Work was done adequitely, but they vastly overcharged for the labor. 12 hours of labor cost $6,700!! They estimated it would take 30 days. They hard sell their services and take advantage of people not familiar with project costs. If you don't want to get ripped off, suggest avoiding these people. read more

interviewed about 5 different contractors, I was really impressed with there follow through and professionalism. They weren't the cheapest or most expensive but I felt the most comfortable moving forward with them. I worked with a gentleman named, Danny, he helped guide me through the process, was not aggressive but did follow up consistently. I ended up doing a outdoor project, consisting of pavers, turf, LED lights and a retaining wall. They went above and beyond to ensure I was happy, there were a few minor details I addressed, the next day they came out to inspect my concerns and had them fixed within the week. Do your homework people!! We had a remodel done recently and we had to babysit the crew every day!! This company is NOT professional in any way, they make false promises, have poor communication skills, they did not give us a timeline as to when the work would be completed, the laborers were sloppy, unskilled, and when I called the owner to complain of the sloppy work, he avoided my calls. Nothing but headaches and stress with the company, I'm embarrassed that I didn't do my homework before we hired them. Hard lesson learned! read more

Horrible experience... they called me randomly and started probing for information. I did need to get a quote for a new gate / fence for my investment property. They offered to meet me the next day and stated it would take 30-60 minutes. After discussing the project they said we needed to sit down for another hour to an hour and a half so they could go through their full service capability and convince me they are a good company. I had already spent 45 minutes and refused to sit down with them as I was already late for a meeting. They got very impatient and kept on insisting. I explained that they should have all the information they needed for a quote and to get back to me when they could. But they didn't want to leave. Luckily it was cold outside and I didn't want to go inside as my tenants were home. He threw out a number of $17k (which was ridiculous) and said that it was only good if I signed today. Sales people like this should not be in the industry. You are providing a service and the goal is to meet the clients needs. Not push the companies needs on the client. Desperation, rudeness and wasting my time only got me to walk away as fast as I could and get in my car. I've spent $60k in the last year remodeling... trust me there are phenomenal contractors out there that you will feel confident in and not feel the high pressure sales and this company is not one of them! read more

My husband are quite skilled DIYers, at least my husband is. I am the gopher! We purchased a house that needed a lot of work. We had done everything ourselves, but when it came time to remodel our kitchen we decided to hire someone to make and hang the cabinets. That's it, just the cabinets. We were doing all the demo, plumbing and electrical. We even already had the design drawn out. We had problems from the beginning. Several times I had to pull out our contract to show them that we did indeed have something in our contract that they were telling us that we didn't. Then they would say it wouldn't fit, or you won't like it. I knew we were in trouble when the man installing the cabinets couldn't seem to find the stud so there were multiple holes in the backs of the cabinets. They didn't seem to be doing anything to address the holes so I finally asked the installer if he was going to patch them. He looked at me with confusion and said we've never done that before! I said well you can't leave all those holes. His response was that when my dishes were in the cabinets you wouldn't be able to see them anyway. Panels not stained properly. Continually having to fight for what we had paid for. 3/20 design final 3/26 install start (told 2 days) sent pics and text to Danny showing problems with 2 incorrect cabinets. And size of hole for micro. Asked about crown options. 3/27 Freddy came to go over problems. One week without any work nor contact. 4/1 installed cabinet around fridge. 4/1 was told would be complete this week. Was asked to go to HD to pick out crown, no samples would be brought. 4/2 told installers would be here on 4/3 thru sat. 4/5 to complete all except panels. Said panels are the only thing that won't be done. Gave Freddy pic of crown selection. 4/3 told installers would be here at 2. 4/4 no work was done that had been told would be done. No contact. Text Freddy he said next week. Will be complete the next week. 4/9 work supposed to start 8am didn't show till afternoon truck problem. 4/9 Freddy said Eddy said they would be working through the weekend to complete. 4/11 Freddy said workers will be there on 4/11. 4/16 thru 4/18 text both Freddy and Danny after no further work or contact. 4/22 finally spoke with Danny more excuses now saying wrong paint was sent?! Danny says best carpenter will be sent on 4/25. 4/24 Heated exchange between both myself and my husband with Eddy. Instead of asking when Eddy could meet with my husband to talk about problems as he told me he was going to do, Eddy started making excuses and saying that we had changed the design the prior week. My husband told him that wasn't true then Eddy started raising his voice at which point my husband got angry and told him, " I just want the f***ing job done and if you can't do it I'll find someone who can." He then hung up on him. I received a text from Danny threatening to put a lean on my house if we brought someone in to complete the job. We have made every payment as required. 4/25 new installer came to install pull outs. 4/26 asked Danny once again for a completion date. No response. 4/28 asked Danny again for a completion date. Responded that he would have a date by the end of the day. Never heard from him. I finally called the manager, took several days and multiple attempts before I finally got through to anyone. She had Nadir take over and smooth things over. Our completion date was supposed to be 4/1. We really didn't expect that but a full month over due?! They indicate that they do all of these amazing projects, high end homes. This was a simple project and it seemed to beyond them. I wanted our microwave built into the lower cabinet, I was told they had never seen that done and hadn't done it before. Really? According to the pictures on their website they have built in cabinet exactly like I was asking for. Maybe the pictures are stock? Yes, our kitchen was completed. Although frankly, we ended up giving them the final payment and just telling them to leave. Oh and just as others have reported, I have received multiple sales calls from them. The first time I was polite but told them we were not happy with the job they had done so to please remove our number from their call list as we would certainly not be hiring them again. The next dozen + calls I haven't been nearly as polite. Sorry this is so long, hope you got through it all. In case So Cal wants to refute any of this, just a heads up, I still have the text messages, emails as well as voice mails to back up my statements. read more

We had two bathrooms remodeled by SoCal this past fall. We love the final result of both. They were willing to listen to what we wanted and the results are exactly what we wanted. That said, the first took considerably longer than it should have and the second was also a bit behind. The reality is that they were busy and getting everything in when one part of the remodel fell behind caused the delays. However Mike was fantastic at communicating with us and bent over backwards to get the essentials completed when we needed them. He was willing to bring in another plumber to get the job done when the plumber scheduled was unexpectedly taken ill. Their price was good and we love the final product.
