I am so thrilled that I found Shohre and Social Dry Lounge on my visit to Corona del Mar in November! Shohre was able to tame my hair by washing it and giving me a beautiful blow out and some much-needed styling. She deftly but politely suggested a new and MUCH better way to do my hair. I was so relieved that she didn't follow my initial instructions, as I would have looked outdated. I also needed eyelashes for the evening and these were done so precisely and expertly. Shohre made me look like a million bucks. She even gave me some fantastic advice on my brows, which I am taking. I wish Shohre lived closer, as I'd be visiting her for services more often. If I had chance I gave fariba or (Fay)no star that she deserve it. I went to her to do some highlight on my long and healthy hair that I didn't bleach for more than 4 years.but guess what she did with my hair!!! She charge me 500$ after discount and the she totally damaged my hair with two different color in top and bottom and she burn all top front of my hair beacuse she started my hair color from to top.I called her so many times and ask for refund but she never do that and she said your hair color will be fix when you wash (this things never happened beacuse I had 2 different highlight) and she said my top front was not burn and those are baby hair... Fariba(Fay) who I am talking about over there is the worth hair stylist I have ever seen in my life.please don't trust the picture that she shared in instagram or other social media. I continue to be charged for a membership I cancelled after bad service and damage to to hair scalp. I sent an email never responded cancelled my membership by email 3 times no response. My CC company disputed the charge and blocked them. Now they found another credit card I used there 2 years ago and they began charging this card too. This is fraud. BEWARE!! read more

highly disappointed to say the least. They have good reviews because they bought them off the previous owner. Here is my 2021 experience....I needed this so bad because I recently had a surgery that makes it difficult to wash my hair so after a week of a surgery and greasy hair you can imagine how much I looked forward to this. All I asked for was a wash and blowout...STRAIGHT hair so we're not talking anything fancy or curls you can mess up. Let's start with the wash .... half my face mask is wet and I got water down my face (thank god I didn't have makeup on or I'd be more pissed!). The lady seriously did not know how to wash hair AT ALL and the water kept going from freezing to burning like wth. Fine wash over, let's blow dry.... would take WAY too thick pieces of hair so it obviously didn't dry well and was fizzy. Well then she claimed she was done and my hair was still wavy ... no flat iron ever used. Never showed me the back with a mirror (wonder why) so I asked myself to look, and omg. So of course I asked to make sure she used a flat iron, still had so many fly aways at the end. Like have some sense of pride sending me out of your salon...I am your brand! Not to mention my hair doesn't feel good and healthy like it should. Their hair tools are horribly outdated. Overall there is a reason for lack of recent reviews. Just don't go. Also owner(s) please clean the stains out the curtains, it's not a good look. read more

I found the experience stressfull. The bowls are very uncomfortable, the gal who performed my service was impatient with me. She kept telling me to trust her, and that she knew what I would want. Worst of the worst though was that she BLEW ON MY FACE when she was putting on my eyelashes/glue!!! I was shocked. So unprofessional and unsanitary and truly gross to have her close to my face and then blow to dry the glue. I did not feel she had the proper skill to apply lashes/makeup given the blowing, but also her application of eye-liner on me was a mess I had to tend to it after I left. Beware Of Pricing! I had a keratin treatment done. I booked my appointment on line and secured it with my credit card. The website stated $170+ for this service. I know I have long hair but what they charged me was double. Furthermore, the price was not disclosed at the time of service, I was told I would have to wait for the manager to call me and charge my credit card on file as it was uncertain what the price would be. Needless to say when I got the phone call I was shocked. I am giving a 3 star because I really liked Zara and I think she did a good job , but I won't be coming back. Just because I live in Newport doesn't mean I should pay higher prices. read more

I absolutely love this place!! I only trust BB with my hair. She is the best. I have very straight dense hair that doesn't usually hold a curl very long. For years, I would try other blow dry bars and they always left my hair looking pretty flat and lifeless. My hair almost never lasted longer than a couple of hours. Honestly, I've never had the same experience twice. I've been here when the front desk girl (who unfortunately is no longer the same joyous girl) couldn't help me fast enough and people just fawned all over me to do my hair and make me feel great. And I've been here when I thought to myself, did they care that I walked through the door today? I came in here about a week ago to get pampered before I took my engagement photos that afternoon. I was a little nervous for the photos later and was hoping to be put at ease. Walking in, the receptionist was nowhere to be found. When she showed up, she was a little rude so I felt a little apprehensive to begin the appointment. She asked me if I wanted a drink and then never came back to me again. Uh ok. I see you gossiping with the girl in the back and I can hear you talking about your weekend plans. Can I get that champagne you promised me? I feel like she just didn't care. This time I got a quiet, albeit very nice hair stylist who did an ok job. And when I was supposed to move onto the makeup appointment I'd made like 2 weeks in advance, the confused front desk girl was making an appointment for a walk in. Um, do you recall I've got an appointment? I sat down in a chair at the makeup counter and felt very unwelcome, despite having made an appointment weeks in advance. The older makeup artist with the brown hair and very tan skin kicked me out of her chair in favor of the walk in. Wonderful. As a customer, I thought to myself, geez, is it such an imposition that I showed up today? I could've done my own hair and makeup at home, but I thought hey let's have some fun and get it done. They found a nice makeup girl, who in my opinion did a much better job than the old lady did on the walk in, but I couldn't help but feel that from beginning to end, I wasn't welcome in this salon. I hate to feel that way as a customer, especially on a very special and a little nerve wracking day. I felt pretty bad when I left. To top it off, the front desk girl kept trying to high pressure sell me on packages. Um, you ignored me, couldn't get my appointment figured out, and made me generally feel unwelcome here and then you want me to shell out for monthly visits? As I mentioned in my previous review, I obtained a membership (The Socialite) to the Social Dry Lounge. Prior to a Luau I was throwing at my house, I came and got both my hair and makeup done. Since Katie was off, Eva did my hair and she was fabulous! Seriously, an amazing head massage and my blowout was perfect! The icing on the cake was my makeup appointment! I ALWAYS get my makeup done, usually by MAC artists... and when I say always, I mean like at least 1x a week and for a very long while. Maria, their makeup artist (and hairstylist) IS AMAZING! I almost don't want to tell you about her. Seriously..... she made me look AMAZING, seriously, AMAZING! She was a true professional and expert makeup artist. I highly, HIGHLY recommend her..... but please, PLEASE don't book her when I need her :) If you haven't tried Social Dry Lounge yet..... do yourself a favor! read more

I paid $500 to get highlights on my short hair, and after a while the color got ruined. when I called her to fix it she was being incredibly rude and tried to humiliate me in front of the whole salon. she used low quality hair products and damaged my hair. If I could give zero stars I would. The hair dressers name is Fariba OR FAY, they only accept zelle for payment and the cost is not worth the bad results everyone gets from her. read more

Made me wait 10 minutes past my appointment time to do an eyebrow threading (totally fine)...and she didn't communicate with me. When she was done, I realized she was threading her coworker's eyebrows. I asked for beach waves...what I got? LOL. My hair was half curled poorly by a straightener. I cannot overstate how awful my experience here was. I came in November to get my hair and makeup done before my bridal shower. I had the same woman perform both services. She fried my hair with the curling iron, and left me with crunchy, unnatural curls. And that was the better part of the appointment. For makeup, she used all drugstore brands (which is fine, I use these at home, but I was expecting some higher quality makeup for the price of getting it done.) However, she didn't pay any attention to my actual skintone and used a foundation that was easily 5 shades too dark for me. She didn't take ANY sanitary measures with the makeup-- there were no disposable applicators, she didn't wipe any of the eyeliners or lipsticks. I was honestly praying I didn't get pink eye. The eyeshadow would have been heavy for an evening look, let alone a daytime bridal shower. She overlined my lips (unevenly and poorly, might I add,) and put a comical amount of highlighter on me. When I asked her how she'd learned to do makeup, the artist told me "Oh, I just watch a lot of YouTube videos." So basically she was unlicensed and had no actual cosmetology experience. I had no time to get my makeup redone so I left looking like some kind of deranged Bratz doll. When I got home I had to completely redo my makeup, making me late to my own bridal shower. I contacted the shop for a refund and told them what happened and got zero response. Do not go here. read more

I was concerned the blue eyeshadow would come out less than elegant given that it's really not my color... but she made it work! I felt glamorous and my hair really held up! The Social Dry Lounge looks amazing, but it is not. To start the lady BURNT/FRIED my hair. It's been a month and it is still frizzy, fried, and burnt. It was extremely healthy and now it is completely damaged. Second i asked for a simple braid and it did not look anything like the picture i showed them. Third they wouldn't do what i asked. They grumpily stuck in bobby pins when i asked if they could make the braid less poofy. Even my friend asked for straight hair and they curled it, fried it, AND burnt it. They completely ruined my hair and i would recommend to NEVER go here. Plus it was extremely pricey. I paid $50 for them to FRY MY HAIR. I am never going back to the Social Dry Lounge. read more

I decided to splurge a bit for a blow out. I am usually the dry "naturally" girl but I was hosting a baby shower and my hair dryer died the night before. I booked online late last night for an early appointment on 9/14. Donna gave me a great wash and a short scalp massage (my favorite). I just wanted a wavy beach look. As I have straight Asian hair, curls usually don't hold for too long. To remedy this, Donna gave me slightly tighter curl an hour before my event. I then ran my fingers thru and loosened up the curls right before noon. 5.5 hours later, I still have slight waves. Love it!! One thing is shared parking lot can be a bit congested depending on the day/time (Sat AM super busy) plan ahead to possibly have to look for parking. Social Dry lounge is a nice way to treat yourself for a little pampering. read more

I enjoyed a blow out at this salon for a special event. The booking process was easy, I was a few minutes late and I called to let them know, the man on the phone (who turned out to be the owner) was kind and accommodating. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the owner and was offered a beverage, glass of water or glass of wine which felt very welcoming and kind. The space itself was very clean, cool design, each station had iPads for clients to use as well as great decor, restroom and comfy chairs. The actual blow-out was fabulous! The hairdresser asked me what I would like and she executed exactly what I requested. The entire experience from start to finish was great! I will be back for another blow-out here for sure!
