I was just in there today 2/16/26 around 4:00 pm and a lovely older woman who works there I believe her name is Ukaba, she was AMAZING!! She was so helpful and turned me on to a new serum that within minutes took my puffiness from under my eyes away. She was kind and full of information. Outstanding is an understatement of how phenomenal she was. I will definitely be back for the serum because of her, her kindness, knowledge, informative and professional she was. I genuinely hope that she gets the acknowledgment that she deserves because she went above and beyond. I'm in here a lot and it's always hit or miss with the people who work here. I came in with a make up emergency and 20 minutes to fix it before I was set to attend a business meeting nearby. I was nervous to be visiting the west coast away from my hairdresser for several months. I lucked out finding this amazing stylist! Brianna kept my hair in great shape, and was able to restore the beautiful length I once had with perfectly matched extensions. She really listened to what I wanted and took the time to get the color just right, I continue to get compliments up until the day of my monthly color appointment, it's incredible! In my experience, you get what you pay for. I never leave reviews--especially not negative ones--but after multiple poor experiences and hearing similar stories from others, I felt compelled to share this. I hope this serves to raise awareness and encourage accountability, especially at the Fashion Island and 17th Street Costa Mesa Ulta locations. On Friday, September 19th, I visited the Fashion Island store between 11AM and 2PM in a great mood, simply looking to purchase a specific La Roche-Posay sunscreen. I even had the exact product I had purchased during a previous visit in hand to make it easier. Normally it's displayed near the front, but it had been moved, so I asked a nearby employee for help. Her response? A vague hand motion toward the right side of the store--no words, no further assistance. After not finding the product, I approached the register where the same employee was stationed. I politely asked if she could either help me or get someone who could, since I understood she was tied to the register. She didn't respond, just looked visibly annoyed that I was even asking. The store was not busy at all, so I didn't feel like I was asking too much. Eventually, another staff member came over. I showed her the product and explained what I was looking for. She walked me to the area I had already searched, and then left without saying anything else--no follow-up, no attempt to help me further. The attitude was very much "this is your problem, figure it out." Trying to stay positive, I moved on to look at some Medicube Korean masks but noticed they were all damaged. I respectfully asked if they had extras in the back, and if not, if there was any possibility of a discount due to the damaged packaging. I wasn't demanding--just asking a reasonable question--but I was met with passive-aggressive responses and more eye-rolling energy. A simple "sorry, we can't do that" would have sufficed. The final straw came during checkout. There were two employees at the front: one helping a customer and the other on her phone. After waiting a moment, I politely asked if her register was open. She looked me up and down, scoffed, and said "no" before going back to her phone. A few seconds later, she began doing something with the register (it didn't look like counting money), but the attitude was beyond unprofessional. Let me be clear--I completely understand that everyone has off days. I work in customer service myself and know it can be exhausting. But when multiple employees across multiple visits act this way, it begins to feel like a pattern... or worse, company culture. I'm writing this not out of spite, but out of disappointment. It genuinely hurts my heart to see so many people (based on other reviews I've now read) & even coworkers having similar poor experiences. I've always loved Ulta as a brand, but this has left such a bad taste that I honestly don't see myself returning--especially not to these locations. I truly hope this feedback is taken seriously. Great customer service makes all the difference--and bad service, sadly, is just as memorable. read more

Let me just start off by saying Brianna is the best hair stylist I've ever had. After being blonde for 7 years I wanted to go light brown, so I started going to different salons and somehow the stylist would always end up convincing me to stay blonde even though that's not what I wanted. I've been to 7 ulta locations and 3 other salons over the last 2 years trying to get someone who saw my vision of light brown or even bronde. The first time I went to Brianna she didn't even question me she was just like "let's do it" I've gone to her a few times now and she always leaves my hair looking amazing, she has the best recommendations for after care and she most importantly prioritizes her clients wants!!! I wanted to thank the employee who helped me today. She had glasses and a pink oxford shirt. She was excellent at customer service. I really appreciated her help. The name on the receipt was Katrina. One of the nice features offered at check out is the choice of either a printed or an emailed receipt. If you think you'll be buying from ULTA regularly, you might want to look into their ULTAmate Rewards Program. You earn points on what you buy and can redeem the points for products or beauty services. They will also give you a birthday gift if you are on their email list. If you don't receive the email for the birthday gift, call them and they will send you the email. Later on when I was browsing around the store, an employee asked me if I needed any assistance. I didn't need any, but it's nice to be asked. In terms of what is available, they have a good amount of hair, skincare, beauty products, and accessories. There are celebrity vegan brands like Florence by Mills (Millie Bobby Brown), cruelty free brands like bareMinerals, Briogeo, and COVER GIRL (although I only spotted their mascaras). The mainstream brands like OPI and Maybelline are also in store. They offer hair services, too. read more

Walked in today to pick up an order I placed for in store pick up. The lady at the front greeted me asked for my ID and then handed me my bag. She asked kindly to check and make sure all my items where in the bag. And they were. Little did I know I was given used foundations (or maybe I was given the testers), wish I would have looked at the foundation pumps when I was asked to make sure my items where there. It's disgusting to receive products like this, especially when we are paying for the items, not like I got them for free. You best believe I complained to corporate, I hope the person who packed my order gets the proper training. I have an understanding that when people place online orders whether they are pick up in store or for shipping, the best of the best looking items should be given to customers. Really disappointed in all the add ons that were charged for the salon. I booked all over color, and the stylist refused to do the color that I initially wanted. I settled for something else, but she ended up throwing on all these extra things, and even a $25 olaplex treatment that she didn't ask or tell me about. I was so shocked when I got the final bill. Stylist was super nice, but be aware of extra fees. Total was close to $400 for hair I didn't really fully want. :( Kept a star because she was really nice and the final result was well executed, just wish she was more transparent as far as pricing. read more

The girl is nice who greets you as you come in. I went in for lashes one girl was nice who helped me pick them out. I made an appointment for them to put them on for the next day I was early the girl was doing a color which processed for 40 minutes she could've done my lashes and never acknowledged me standing there could have said hi and someone will be with you. When it came to my appointment time she spoke in Spanish not sure what was said but the other girl asked another girl she said no I have an appointment I thought it was rude the one for my appointment was going to be late I walked out from my appointment will not return. read more

Please be aware, double check your purchases!! I was visiting Newport and I bought a dolce and Gabbana perfume from this location that looked sealed up and had a security tag on as well. So I didn't double check it when I was paying for it. Later when I opened the packet, the cap was missing and the bottle was empty. One of the staff is Clearly tempering with the products and putting it back on the shelf and is cheating with loyal ulta customers. Think twice before going in especially if you are visiting. I came in to return a product here that I tried to return at the other Ulta location in costa mesa, and to pick up some tinted moisturizer I ordered online. I literally just can't comprehend how much better my experience was at this location. I walked in, was helped within minutes and the girl processing my return was understanding and listened to my feedback. She didn't know how to scan the item and another employee fixed it in 10 seconds. This return which caused me so much grief and was flat out denied at the costa mesa Ulta was handled in 2 minutes roundtrip at the Fashion Island Ulta. I was also able to pick up my brand new UNUSED it cosmetics tinted moisturizer. After having such a negative experience at the other location, I'm happy to report a significantly better experience at this store. read more

Where do I start? First of all this hair salon is very unprofessional! I had an appointment with Beatriz today at 2:30 I booked accent highlight because I already have a balayage I needed a touch up. Beatriz calls 15 min before the appointment saying she can't do it because she needs to leave at 5 and she won't have enough time. They often have promotions and coupons that you can use as well as a rewards system! I stopped into this location to return a setting spray that just did not work for me. After locating my receipt I was able to return with no hassle. This location is clean and well stocked and the associates are nice! The only issue I have is most of their products are over priced. I was looking at a NYX Setting Spray and noticed it was priced almost 3 dollars higher than Target. The setting spray I returned was about 30 bucks and I felt like it was just not for me. I don't mind splurging on makeup products when they do work for me. So I did decided NYX was the best thing I had tried so far with no issues. I love this location but they need to put a handle on the kids it's infested with them every weekend. Who wants to come in and shop comfortably when their is nothing but kids writing on the displays with the testers, opening the live product and using it and putting it back on the shelves I feel bad for the workers they can tell them to stop but they don't listen. The team here is amazing but you can see theyre drained by the amount of kids that make their store a mess. This is my local ulta, and I shop no where else. Your workers can only do so much. The manager here is a rude B***H, that's coming up with asinine rules when entering a MALL location. I came in to do an exchange after purchasing food in the food court adjacent to their store. The employee immediately states "you can't have drinks inside." I'm well aware of safety regulations around COVID and no where does it state that you can't hold onto a drink around peers. Apparently this "crazy virus can spread through a cup with a lid on it now a days--watch out!" I told the girl that I'm doing an exchange, I'm on my lunch break, the outdoor court is full and I'm going to now have to take my food back to work, so I'd like to quickly do my exchange and I'm not planning on scarfing down my lunch in their building. She was cool, allowed the exception, with risk of my drink exposing them all! Then the girl is processing my exchange and the manager has to then re-scold me stating "for future reference you can't have drinks indoors here." I stated again, yah I wasn't planning on drinking anything I'm on my lunch break getting things done real quick. But no, she's got to ensure I understand.. because apparently I'm not an adult that understands their ridiculous "rules." "Yah but for future reference it won't be allowed." Cool cool cool.. I'll just order elsewhere, I'll take my business to a store with a brain! One that tells their customers "while your shopping please do not eat or drink" versus "don't come in." I mean..
