I love this place! It has a fun vibe with variety in the menu. Want to host an event? They have a nice sized room on the 2nd floor that has a bar. It's the perfect location for hosting, just make sure you reach out in advance. Downstairs has some games you can play for free! Or you can play some yard games on the covered part of the patio. Plenty of ways to socialize after eating. Pretty decent sized patio with a fire pit on one side. When the weather is nice, definitely eat outside. read more

Atmosphere - When we arrived the indoor dining was already full per the hostess.  There was a 45 plus minute wait for indoor so we went with outdoor seating.  The area is covered with sail shades and misters.  Being 100° outside it was comfortable.  The floor was just dirt so a nice tile or wood deck would have been nice. Food Drink - Being new to the area it was nice to see a good variety of local beers.  My wife had a great cider on draft, Cider Corps' Sangin Sangria.  She wants me to find it so we can have it in the house.  Of course I had an IPA.  OHSO's Boom Dymanite.  Now reviewing my notes while writting my review.  I found that Social Hall has a collaboration with Four Peaks, I guess I will have to go back to try that one. Dinner - You had me at Hatch pepper.  The Burqueño Burger it is!!  This burgers has the Hatch peppers, American cheese, cilantro aioli, lettuce, tomato, and onion.  The smoke flavor came off in the first bite from the peppers.  Maybe a cheddar cheese would have better.  The sweet potato waffle cut fries almost stole the show, they are that good. Service - We snuck in on happy hour as it goes to 6 PM.  So the draft drinks were only $4.  Our waitress made sure our water never went dry.  I am drying to drink more water and we it is sitting in front of you, you can not forget to drink more. We watched one of the bus boys wipe down the table behind me.  All the excess crumbs including large food crumbs, onto the dirt floor.  The invitation to the birds has been given, surprisingly I did not see any birds the entire time we ate. It was pretty dead when we came (5:30) for happy hour so not sure if it's always like that or it's not super busy that early in the day. Overall I loved the selection of drinks and we got the nachos as a snack. All very good and the service was OK, I wouldn't say great but it was Ok. I had bought several items that were great but one of the tacos was inedible; I asked her to take it off the check. We never saw her again and had to chase down another associate to finally cash out. I absolutely love the space here. It's well decorated, large enough for a big group to hang out. And it's not super LOUD that you can't hear your friends next to you. They have great outdoor space and inside space. Outdoor space - has hammocks! Also it looks like they have an area for live music. It'll probably be loud on those days, but you can probably hide inside. Outdoors also has giant jenga, ping pong and 3 pool tables Indoor space - indoor is spacious, dim-lifted, has a bar and lots of space. The games area is all FREE! It has shuffle board, foosball table, skee Ball, mario kart arcade, etc. The Food - I wish they had more variety, but the menu isn't the best. Some of their food options are overpriced and the portions aren't that great. Truffle fries are bomb and highly recommended! My friend got the pork chop, but he didn't like it that much. It was juicy, but pretty hard to chew. The burgers and fries have great portions! The more expensive items on the menu ($20+) are lacking in portions. The Drinks - I got a Dark and Stormy and it was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the el chapo burger and I ordered the bugsy Siegel sandwich. Both were very delicious. The el chapo was a standard burger with bacon and a delicious garlic aioli. The bugsy Siegel was a chicken breast with pepper jack cheese, peppered bacon, avocado, and the standard lettuce, tomato, and onions. I really enjoyed the pepper jack and the creamy avocado with the salty bacon. However, the chicken was a tad bit dry. The free Yelp nachos were delicious! This was one of my favorite restaurants, however, it seems a lot has changed in the year I've been gone from Tempe. The entres we got just did not satisfy that craving we had for them. I used to come here all the time for the Buffalo Mac and cheese, however, they completely changed the recipe. They still call it "Buffalo Mac and cheese," but now they just drizzle a little bit of Buffalo on it, and you can't really taste it. It's just mac and cheese with pieces of chicken and a literal drizzle of Buffalo. To be fair, the chicken and Mac and cheese are very good, but it's definitely not traditional Buffalo Mac and Cheese, or anything like their old version. I asked for more Buffalo, and they charged me extra for a little side sauce of it. That was pretty bold of them. They also seem to be overworking the staff now because the servers seemed very rush and sometimes would leave before I could ask a question. Or maybe they were just too focused on the larger parties. To continue, I guess someone got sick or hurt at the restaurant, so while eating outside we had to deal with fire trucks / ambulance pull up with their loud cars, awful fumes, and bright lights they just didn't turn off even though we were in a private parking lot. We definitely dealt with that for almost the entirety of our meal. The restaurant didn't even bother saying anything to us about the incident either, which was odd. I used to really like this place and will most likely to come back, but if I have a similar experience I wouldn't come back. I'll update my review the next time I go. read more

Such a fun place! I tried Social Hall when they first opened and wasn't too impressed but I'm glad I gave them another try. I tried the blackberry mojito, the adult Capri sun (it actually comes in a pouch it's so cute!!), and also this super refreshing drink I had I can't remember the name of-- it had cucumber and lime in it. They were all so good. Capri sun was really sweet but I still loved it which surprised me as I don't love sweet drinks. For food we had the elote, green chile mac and cheese, and barracho nachos with chicken. The flavor on the elote was absolutely delicious (although not the best for sharing as it is served on the Cobb). The Mac and cheese I mean how can you go wrong it was phenomenal especially with the crunchy carnitas on top! YUM. I loved the vibe here. The patio was really cool with all the string lights and outdoor seating/hammocks. The heaters were a nice touch because it did get a little chilly in the evening. The staff wore masks and the outdoor seating was pretty spaced out which made us feel really comfortable. Our waitress was really nice too. Their menu had an array of food options - Asian cuisine to American to Mexican. We ordered the brussel sprouts to share and they were absolutely delicious. Not typically a brussel sprout eater unless they are covered in anything that makes them unhealthy. This place did just that and it tasted great. For our meals, I ordered one of the burgers with a side of truffle fries. In hindsight, I wish I would've tried the sweet potato waffle fries but the truffle fries weren't too bad. I honestly am not a huge fan of them but the waitress suggested them so I just caved. Some of the other food on the table were the smoked wings and smoke quesadilla. For a Saturday night, it was empty. The place seems a little run down. The corn hole bags weren't even matching, it was hard to find darts with tips, skee ball machine was broken and not to mention it was hotter than hell in there. On a plus side, it's a cool concept! Food was excellent, got an order of the Ribeye Steak (cooked perfect, so as the risotto it came with), Lobster Mac (super flavorful, actually have chunks of lobster, creamy and very cheesy), Shrimp Tacos (shrimp got some snap to it, guac compliments flavors perfectly), El Chapo Burger (stacked to the top), and Nachos w/ smoked brisket (brisket was actually smoked, not just a name) Service was phenomenal from host check-in down to our server. Social Hall was more like Detention Hall for me! :( The night started off with some cocktails for the table and a fabulous plate of nachos (free with Yelp check-in). We were all in good spirits and ordered our entrees. It was a busy night for Social Hall. Two businesses were having their holiday parties on this brisk Saturday night. After a slight wait, we received *most* of our orders. We even received some lovely guests. In a gorgeous Beet & Quinoa Salad were at least five fruit flies (they were wiggling about and very much alive). No real biggy but we let a server know. We just received it so not a single bite was taken from it. We weren't trying to receive a compensation or anything, just perhaps a fresh salad sans fruit flies. So we let a server (she wasn't our waitress) know and she took it away. She comes back a few minutes later and informs us that what we saw was quinoa, not flies, and that they'll just remake a new salad without the quinoa. That's when I got slightly irritated. I know what quinoa looks like and when I was taking a picture for Yelp, one of the fruit flies even made an appearance on the salad. The whole table saw the fruit flies. Quinoa does not move and run across cheese and beets. I told her that it wasn't quinoa that we mistook as flies and showed her the picture. She asked if she can take my phone to show the chef and I allowed it. She came back and apologized and that was it. Not even an apology from the chef or a manager. It left me disgruntled. See Mike W.'s review for the picture. On top of all this, they forgot the peppered bacon in my friend's El Chapo and they forgot my friend's girlfriend's tacos. He ended up getting the bacon on the side and she had finally received the tacos towards the end of the meal when we were finishing up our other dishes. My Duck Breast was decent and the truffle fries were tasty. The Green Chili Mac was also pretty good. I would pass on the Pork Belly Tacos. Overall, the food was okay but how they handled the flies situation left me displeased. I get that it's busy what with the two company holiday parties but don't try to play me for a fool. NOTE (Update): The owner contacted us about the fruit flies incident and I really appreciated that he tried to kiss-and-makeup. Very cool, polite, and professional of him. There were a few company parties so our dinner service was sub par on food. The servers were nice and apologized for the inconveniences. There were issues with my food such as few fruit flies in it. I notified a server and explained there are bugs in my salad. She took to the food prep area and told me the quinoa may look like a bug. I looked at her and said "What?" My wife took a picture of it. The kitchen remade the beet and quinoa salad. I did not understand the server response saying that quinoa may appear like a bug. The chef did not come out to apologize and they still charged us for the beet and quinoa salad. This restaurant may have a bug issue. In the end, Would I comeback? Sorry, I would not come back. I have the picture of one of the fruit flies in my salad and the bill. You can be the judge. **NOTE ** (Update 12/16/18) The owner contacted me back on this issue in a calm and professional manner. The owner offered to pay me back for the beet and quinoa salad. I declined since they already made me another one. In regards to the bug issue, Fruit flies are still considered insects. They may or may not cause diseases. They are a low risk insects that can carriers of pathogenic bacteria in which has the ability to spread to humans via contact. Finally, I am assuming the food prep was done in the kitchen. How did fruit flies get in my food unless it was prepared at the bar? Would you pass a health inspection if this was to occur? I recently attended the Yelp! Elite dinner here at the Social Hall. My original review was 2 stars based on experience and the food being just okay, but last night showed a huge change from my initial review! Dinner started with two different appetizers, the coconut shrimp and Anaheim Chile fries. Both were tasty and I really enjoyed the Chile fries - they were different but really tasty! We were given the choice of drink and I selected a Moscow Mule. It was decent! I've had better but I've had much worse. The entree was delicious! I'm still dreaming of the tenderloin, baby carrots and green chili mac. Yum!!! Quite honestly they saved the best for last - the strawberry filled churros with chocolate and caramel dipping sauce is what dreams are made of! Amazing! You have to get these when you come! We had been here once before and had been craving some of their truffle fries and decided to stop in during Valentine's day weekend. We had called in advance since we hadn't planned on going out and didn't have a reservation and knew that they would probably be busy. They suggested we still show up anyways but we figured it'd be busy so we knew to just go with the flow. The restaurant is fairly large and is also able to be rented for events so when you walk in you're greeted by the large enclosed patio area which is really nice. It's a great place to meet with a group of friends for drinks and socialize especially with the games they have that are free for patrons. We were hoping to be able to play games inside since we hadn't the last time around but it seems like they're all off limits now due to COVID. It looked like the only thing available to play was ping pong but it's understandable considering the pandemic. We decided to grab some drinks so we ordered a spicy strawberry margarita and the Bill Murray which we both enjoyed and recommend if you stop by. To eat we chose the brisket quesadilla and the beast burger with truffle fries. They both were good sized portions and we liked the flavor of the food especially the fries which are extra crispy since they're shoestring fries. Overall their menu is an interesting mix of flavors and different from what you might find in most places which is nice. It is a bit pricey but considering the unique food options we thought it wasn't too bad. Despite the chaos there because of Valentine's day and the brief rain that forced all the patio seating indoors we still had a good time. They have a mini arcade area inside, plenty of TVs inside for watching sporting events, fire pits outside, corn hole, pool and lots of seating outdoors. Came here on a weekend around happy hour. So I could only order the happy hour menu. Food: Green chili mac/cheese - pretty good I must say. Nacho also was good with the guac on top. The rest of the happy hour not so much. Wings - lacked flavor and was not that spicy. I ordered the mango habanero. The taco cause use some garnish of some sort. Otherwise, the meat is just dry by itself. Price is reasonable since it is happy hour price. But as stated, you can't order from the full menu, as the kitchen was still prepping. Went back to Social Hall on Sunday afternoon. First of all we were thrilled that they have Happy Hour on Sunday. Woot woot! Came with my husband slightly hung over from holiday party the night before. I had a craving for the green chile mac and thought this would ease all the liquor from the night before. Yep it did. This time ordered the full size mac with pork carnitas on top. Whoa, bomb.com! We also got wings and my husband tried the waffle/chicken meal. I loved the mac, and my wings. Husband liked the waffles/chicken but wishes the chicken was breast tenders. This was my 3rd time here and definitely had to bump my rating as this time, got to enjoy the games. This was my husband first time here and he was thrilled that the games are complimentary. All in all, we played 6 games inside and out. Ended up spending only $60 bucks here but stayed several hours. Sunday funday was complete with food, drinks, and games. We will definitely be back and kinda hope they throw a NYE party here. I was pretty disappointed with my first visit at Social Hall. The area itself looked pretty cool and there were a lot of different areas - bar, fire pit, arcade games, Jenga, etc. I had a larger group with me and I had tried making reservations online but there was only a place to reserve for a party/event, no where to reserve a table. I never called for a reservation so that piece was on me but when I got to the hostess stand they basically told me that for a table for 8 I'd have to go to a common area and they turned us away for dinner and didn't even let us put our name down. We were willing to wait a while for a table because we didn't all get there at the same time, there were only 2 of us to start. We ended up scoping out a big couch in the arcade area that fit us all. The table we were at was not a table that got service so we had to keep going to the bar every time we wanted a drink or food. Also no one ever came over to clean the table from the previous group that was sitting there. So we had to sit with their drink cups the whole time. All of the above was not enough for a two star review but the food is what got me there. The drinks were all pretty mediocre- didn't have high expectations anyways so I easily switched to beer, not a problem. The food we ordered was actually really good in taste, however, 4 of us got sick that night which is why such a low star rating. I probably won't ever come back here for food, if you are just hanging around playing games and plan on drinking beer then I think it would be fine. read more

I believe last time I visited they had a separate gluten free menu but when I asked the host this time he stated they didn't. However he himself was also gluten free and he gave me some options i could enjoy. He also went above and beyond by letting me try out a gluten free dessert made by a local chef, on him.
