After finishing our drinks, we transitioned to our table and were greeted right away by Natasha. She was bubbly, friendly, and immediately introduced herself, letting us know which items were out of stock for the night. It felt unusual for a Tuesday, but her genuine warmth set a welcoming tone. We started our meal with the scallop entrée, cornbread, and brioche. The scallop dish featured a rich, umami-packed sauce, though the scallops themselves were slightly salty. The cornbread had fantastic flavor and perfectly crisp edges, but the center was cold. The brioche offered great flavor as well, though it was served ambient and tasted a bit stale. For our mains, we shared the New York strip and the pork chop, both accompanied by fingerling potatoes and sautéed broccolini in a Calabrian vinaigrette. We were really looking forward to trying 40 Love, but unfortunately, the experience was such a disappointment. The one bright spot of the evening was our server, Chris. He was amazing--friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our dinner. We started with the burrata, and I honestly couldn't believe how it was presented. It was extremely plain and visually unappealing, with nothing about the presentation that made it feel special or elevated. For our entrées, my husband ordered the roasted chicken and thought it was all right. I ordered the pork chop with potatoes and Brussels sprouts, and unfortunately my entire plate arrived barely warm. I had also specifically asked for my pork chop to be well done. It came sliced into approximately six pieces, and only about half of the slices were actually cooked well done. At that point, I ended up giving the rest to my husband rather than sending it back and waiting for another meal. For a restaurant that seems to get so much hype, I truly don't understand what the excitement is about. The food and presentation simply did not live up to our expectations, and we left feeling extremely disappointed. Chris was wonderful and deserves recognition for his service, but unfortunately, great service wasn't enough to make up for the meal. I would definitely not come back. I had dinner at 40 Love in Old Town Scottsdale and overall thought it was a decent experience. The space itself is really nice and definitely has a fun, upscale atmosphere. It is VERY dark inside though we actually had to use our phone flashlights just to read the menu, so keep that in mind. I really enjoyed the ambiance and especially the music they were playing. I also had the Love Potion cocktail, which was really good! It had a nice spicy kick to it and was probably one of my favorite parts of the night. One thing I found kind of funny is that for a place called 40 Love, I really didn't notice many tennis references at all. The decor felt much more like a jungle/Miami Vice aesthetic than a tennis-themed restaurant. Not necessarily a bad thing because the space is beautiful, but the name had me expecting more of a tennis theme. My biggest disappointment was that they were out of multiple things I specifically wanted to try. I wanted the pull-apart brioche bread AND the caviar, and they didn't have either available that night. That was pretty annoying, especially considering the prices here. If something is featured on the menu, I would expect it to actually be available, particularly at this price point. The food we did have was good, and we finished the night with dessert, which was enjoyable. Overall, I'd still recommend giving 40 Love a try for the atmosphere, cocktails, music and a fun night out in Old Town. I took a star away and honestly should take another one but they made it up with great service but it was 109 yesterday, when we walked into the restaurant for our evening reservation it was hot and just kept getting hotter. We ended up asking why it was so hot indoors, turns out their AC was broken, I'd think, they'd call people who had reservations to let them know that, this is Az in the dead of summer and we celebrated my friends birthday for 2 hours and 15 minutes melting. For not having any customers in the restaurant. (no hostess or greeter at the front door, just employees taking turns, walking up there ) The ambience was nice. The food was good. My wife and I came for a date night which was perfect for us and got a mix of steak, pasta, and appetizers which were all delicious. Many other restaurants appear to be the same in Scottsdale, but not 40 Love which stands out among a competitive list of date night restaurants to choose from. My only small critique is that the place is a bit smaller on the inside (patio is huge though), so I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time because the bar seating is also reservations only which is different than other places. If you want a restaurant with a creative menu and an intimate yet fun atmosphere, then I highly recommend this place! read more

We went here on Friday night and overall had a really enjoyable experience. This is a newer restaurant, and you can tell they're still finding their rhythm--but the food was tasty, the drinks were delicious, and the space itself is absolutely beautiful. We did have an 8:15 reservation and weren't seated until about 8:35. I chose "standard seating," so that may have played a role, but we were seated in a smaller room away from the main dining area, which felt a bit removed from the atmosphere of the rest of the restaurant. Our server--Brendon (or a similar name)--was wonderful. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful throughout the night. We started with the caramelized meatballs, which were very good and full of flavor. That said, I didn't really get the caramelization described on the menu; they felt more like baked meatballs in sauce. Still tasty, just not quite what I expected based on the description. For our main dish, we shared the Snake River American Wagyu farm ribeye with two sides. The flavor of the steak was excellent, but it was much thinner than I expected for a ribeye cut. The preserved wild mushrooms were good--I loved the variety of textures and mushroom sizes--but I felt they could have used just a bit more seasoning. The red bliss potato mash, however, was delicious and something I would absolutely order again. I have been wanting to try this place since it opened and finally had the opportunity. It was easy to make a reservation and I love the location. The hostess greeted me promptly as well as the gentleman on the outside (he was very nice). I was seated pretty quickly (I was on time). It was two of us and mt friend was outside on a call but the original table I was seated at felt like a kids table lol so it was nice that the waitress noticed without me saying anything and moved me to a nice booth. The space is beautiful, the music was IT! I pretty much knew all the songs being played. Our server Christina was really nice and provided great recommendations. When I got here, I actually wanted to sit at a table but they were so pushy with me and insisted that I sit at the bar so that's what I ended up doing. I wanted a little more peace and quiet so I sat at the bar outside. I ordered a wagyu filet mignon and a New York cheesecake. The wagyu filet mignon cost $80 but I only felt it was slightly better than a normal filet mignon and thus would say that the price is not worth it. The New York cheesecake was heavy and became a chore to eat once I finished 75% of it. The service was a little inattentive too. Overall, I didn't feel the "love" of this place and I think that there are much better fine dining spots out there. My bill came out to $103.68. read more

We ultimately decided to go for the East Coast as they're a bit more saltier (safer choice) and even mentioned they would create a pairing contrast with our drinks, we specifically mentioned that. We ordered 12 oysters as our appetizer, and place our entrées and sides orders. Our Oyster were delivered with the cornbread and broccolini (which were suppose to be our sides) but that wasn't the issue the issue was they brought out the wrong oysters. All 12 wrong, we were thinking maybe we confused the girl, but I specifically remember what we said we wanted east coast because we were craving that seafood taste.. However when she came to deliver our 2nd round of drinks we had mentioned they brought out the wrong oysters, they said they were sorry for the confusion they can see time what they can do, the manager steps in and says she couldn't return them at this time but would offer us 6 of the East coast as they couldn't take these back. It was very confusing as we just wanted what we ordered and there was no way we wanted 18 oyster along with everything we just order. We said no that is fine, it wasn't a big deal, besides we had plenty of food here and coming, the cornbread was delicious and we practically ate half we left the oysters alone, the Seabass was delicious ultimately the finale straw was my lobster pasta, it was extremely over cooked such a disappointment but the drinks were great and pasta aside from the lobster was great too. read more

The bartenders saw us walk in and just kept eating? They took their sweet time to even acknowledge us and it took the other bar guests to say something to get the bartender to come over. He was very monotone and didn't really make us feel welcome. It was a rough first experience given that I have wanted to try this place for a while and for some reason it is always empty when we walk by and now I think the staff is the reason why. There was another couple that walked in about twenty minutes after us and the bartender gave them quite a different experience, greeted them with enthusiasm and was laughing and making jokes and that disappeared when he spoke to us until the end of our drink. Let me just say, the bartenders here know how to over serve a woman! I'm 71 years old and of all the pinot grigio's I have ordered in my lifetime, no bar staff has EVER "finished off a bottle" and handed me an almost over flowing glass. I lost my full glass of pinot virginity at 40 Love, and while I know I'm unlikely to have this experience again here, I WILL be coming back for some of that pull apart brioche. Dear gussey, it melts in your mouth. I had a man say that about me once actually. Donny Pruitt back in 1972. What a man and what a year.
