So, thanks to yelp I decided to go to this place today to satisfy a sweets craving hubby and I were having on our day off. (Parking is hell though, even in the middle of the day!!) We are trying to be good what with the exercise and whatnot, so we each just got one. I got the red velvet and hubby got a vanilla/chocolate one. The icing was a little too sweet for me, but then again I'm not a sweets-type person, I love the salty foods! I ended up scraping most of the icing off and just eating the red velvet cake which was very very delicious. Makes me want to get a small red velvet cake from them with no icing for my birthday! Husband is an amateur chef and was not too happy about the presentation. They aren't as "put together" as Sprinkles with the perfect icing and presentation, but they seemed about equal in flavor to him. i came on a Saturday afternoon, and was able to find parking on the street. I walked into the bakery and the door was open, so leaves and stuff were flying into the store. There were a lot of special order cakes lined up all along the store for the owners to come pick up. The cupcakes are huge, so I think $3.25 per cupcake is pretty reasonable. They have regular cupcakes and cupcakes with a dip in the center for extra frosting (cost a little more). I got the Pink Champagne & Red Velvet cupcakes. Their cupcakes were just OK. I like their Pink Champagne more because it's different and no other bakeries that I've been to offers this flavor, so I can't compare it to other places. I love red velvet, but I've tasted better red velvets elsewhere. The red velvet here just doesn't have this aromatic taste that I'm looking for, and it wasn't as moist. Yes, it was delicious, but the decorations were horrendous. Large swirls and dots everywhere. I turned 25 that month, not 5. Second instance is today, a birthday cake for my mom. I asked if they were able to do gold in any way, and they told me yes. So, I asked for a fuchsia cake with gold embellishments, lettering, and roses. I asked the roses to be at the top off-centered with the text to the right of it. Instead I get a cake that has mush, swamp yellow roses and lettering rather than gold, and a rose bunch smack dab in the middle of the cake. The Vanilla cupcake was really good. It was so moist and sweet. I can't believe that the cupcake was $4 being that the size of it is smaller than most other cup cake shops in Dallas that have bigger cupcakes that tastes just as good. I think that they have really fun flavors to choose from and I'm quite interested in tasting more of their options. Mentioned it was my birthday and snagged a free cupcake in addition to the other three I was buying. Everything that they make is delicious. no bakery in Dallas will ever too Society. They even have pre made gourmet cakes for when you need something in the fly. The owner has always been super gracious. And accessible to anyone. Haven't been in a while so I need to come back soon. This place was super hyped up and so difficult to order from that I assumed it would be amazing- it was such a disappointment. The cake material was a bit dry and there was a very stingy amount of frosting on top to counter this. I was surprised at the price- $2.50 / each for a miniture (i.e. bite size) cupcake! The price was not paying for quality- so it must have all been to pay for the hype and popularity. I placed in order a couple weeks in advance- despite this- I was limited to only 3 basic flavor options (vanilla, chocolate, red velvet)- apparently 2 weeks is not enough advance notice to do other flavor options they normally do for the minis. There is a catering company around the corner from here called Two Sisters- their pastry options were better quality, more affordable, and they sell cupcakes. Full disclosure - I did not order a specialty cake and was not allowed to order other options for the cupcakes (two weeks in advance was not enough time)- so I cannot comment on them- but if they can't do their basics flavored cupcakes correctly- I don't imagine the other options would be any better. read more

These cupcakes have a homemade feel. The cake is super moist and they mainly use a cream cheese icing on most of their cupcakes which I prefer. I tried the coconut cream, italian cream, oreo and carrot cake. Coconut cream was by far the best! Carrot was good but nothing spectacular. I ordered 2 dozen pink champagne cupcakes for my daughter's birthday over the phone and asked for mint colored icing. The lady gave me the price of $90 and charged my credit card for that amount. My husband went to pick up the cupcake, and upon arriving, the lady at the bakery told him they didn't have any orders in my name. She literally brushed him off without any sort of apology. I knew I had ordered the cupcakes and paid for them, so I asked my husband to hand the phone over to the lady. At first she refused and just kept trying to deny there was an order but seeing he was not leaving finally talked to me. I explained to her I had emails from previous conversations with the bakery and had called with the final order of 2 dozen cupcakes. She was adamant that I needed to have a receipt (which the bakery never sent me and still hasn't). She was rude, and continued to talk down to me, when I'm the customer who has had their order messed up. I asked her what I was supposed to do with my daughter's party when I preordered the cupcakes, they charged me and didn't even make the order. She told me she had some to give my husband but the colored icing was and upcharge and the $90 didn't cover it. I explained to her that was how I ordered them, and I paid what I was charged, so that is what I expected. My husband had driven from Frisco, so not a short distance to come back without a cake. After being embarrassed and upset about the whole ordeal, he arrived home with 2 dozen PINK cupcakes. And it doesn't stop there! The cupcakes looked like my 12 year daughter had made them. They were all types of deformed cupcakes and some of them you could tell they tried to carve them to shape them but there was no icing so it looked like they had been picked at. So. Freaking. Embarrassing!!! After paying almost $100 for cupcakes, we were given complete trash! Please take a look at the pictures and judge for yourself. I would never recommend anyone buy a cake here unless you are ok with them not making it at all or getting something different than what you ordered after paying for it. And come to find out, there are plenty of reviews with similar experiences. After being a regular customer and recommending their bakery in the past, we will never be back. I'm so excited to pick up my 10 year Anniversary cake on 3/3/2017 early that morning around 9:30am and immediately deliver it to 3 Forks for my anniversary celebration the following day. The cashier had me pay for my cake and wanted to hand carry the cake to my car without me seeing my cake until we were outside. Once I saw my cake the colors of the flower decorations didn't match the pictures I had shown to the lady when I initially ordered my cake. I viewed the photos I had shown them from my phone on the original day and took them to the cashier. I had tears in my eyes as she had rudely told me that she couldn't do anything to help me since they were too busy. I told her this was my 10 year anniversary and she could care less. She told me that her manager would be in sometime later today and couldn't give me a time of arrival and basically sorry I can't help you kind of attitude. I called my husband to tell him what was happening since I was in so much emotional distress, I had picked the cake to match everything at my anniversary at 3 Forks on 3/4/2017 so I didn't have any time for errors. I told the cashier that she needed to call her manager and something would be done and I would just have to wait, she so rudely walked away to the phone. She came back all of sudden and said they could change the colors of the flowers like I had insisted previously but it would not be like the picture I had shown. I ended up taking a cake that didn't match what I had ordered but was doable since there wasn't any option and obviously I didn't have anymore time. The management (an older lady) came in and only consulted with her staff and didn't even acknowledge me. I'm a Contract Registered Nurse in the DFW area (actually 1st tasted one of there cupcakes at Medical City Dallas where I contract at occasionally) and I'm well aware of customer service, I could not believe the awful customer service I was given by this upscale bakery I had heard so many good comments about. So all in all the taste of the cake was exceptional but I have to take a cake that I paid $385 and it wasn't the colors that I had ordered, was like a slap in the face. Some of my favorites are the Pink champagne cupcake, the cookies and creme cupcake and the M&M cookie. The first cake I ordered for a family members birthday was incredible. So, when I ordered the same strawberry cake the second time, for my mother's birthday, I was expecting the same quality. Instead I got a cake with no strawberry flavor. The first one even had strawberry pieces in it. Not this cake. This cake was bland...I could have gone to Walmart Bakery and done better!!! Not only did I get a crap cake, I also received crap customer service. I called for 2 weeks asking to speak to a manager and left several messages with the staff. No one ever gave me a call back. No one ever tried to make it right. I was super disappointed and so was my 69 year old mom on her birthday. Please check out other bakeries, this one is not the one. Poor product. Poor service. Inconsistent with their quality and I couldn't even get a call back! They sure didn't hesitate calling me initially for my credit card information to charge it though. Keep in my mind I am a home baker and know what quality cake should taste like. I tried the red velvet (my fave)! I was disappointed that it was neither red or velvety. Had a sweet 16 cake made there after the baker that I was going to use ended up having a family emergency. I went online, putting everything that I wanted along with the photos, and I got a quote back for $150. No problem. Then I got a call from someone at the bakery that wanted to confirm and ask a lot more questions so that the cake could be put together properly. She was very nice and the whole process was a breeze. So what was the problem? It was a three layer cake that was supposed to be a layer of chocolate a layer of coconut and a layer of vanilla. What happened? I had a three layer vanilla cake, with coconut and chocolate icing on it. And so the other three guests at the small sweet 16 party did not eat any cake because none of it was chocolate or coconut outside of the icing. I will say, that the vanilla cake itself was delicious, and so was the icing, but since the guests didn't like it, it was a miss. I shouldn't have called the bakery but they're close to my house and decided to give them a second chance after messing up a cake I purchased from them about 8 years ago. I gave it a shot. I really wanted to like this place a lot, but I found them to be just OK. Nothing too special. The frosting is not as sweet as the other cupcake places, but this particular cream cheese icing just doesn't do it for me. I didn't think it was possible, but I found it. And Society doesn't have any of that "only flavors available are the ones today" business. I called on Wednesday afternoon and needed two dozen cupcakes by Thursday at 3pm. Did I get a "we normally need 48 hours in advance notice"? Nope. I got a friendly voice on the other end that spoke of cute decorations like skulls, graveyards, pumpkins and ghosts. Although they're weren't any cheaper than other cupcake places in town, I'll gladly pay it if this is the kind of service and product I get every time. The cupcakes were ready on time, nicely decorated and just like we had talked about. Prices were straight up and they had it all packaged and credit card run when I got there - all I had to do was turn around and not trip on the rug....which almost happened. This is my go-to place for birthdays. I have no idea how any of their other baked goods are, but the cupcakes here are freaking amazing! Who the heck cares about some cookies when you can have one of these cupcakes?! So far I have not found a better cupcake in Dallas. The cake is moist (for lack of a better word) and springy, and their icing is sugary perfection. I picked up a dozen for a friend's birthday, and we tried a variety of flavors, including: vanilla, chocolate, carrot cake, and strawberry. All of them were gobbled up in no time. Even though I do love Sprinkles dearly, I must say that Society beats them hands-down. The cupcakes are bigger and tastier at Society, so you don't feel so bad about forking over the $2.50+ for a single sweet snack. They always have a ton of cupcakes in their display case, so it isn't really necessary to call ahead if you just need to pick up a dozen or so. I tried calling in an order of 1 dozen last week, but they didn't answer their phone, so I just drove up there since it is very close to my house. It might be a good idea to call if you need a larger number or want a specific flavor, because they don't always have the same varieties in the case. Another thing I love about this bakery is that the chefs don't seem concerned with making the cupcakes especially pretty. They are often uneven and overflowing the wrapper with haphazardly-heaped icing. That icing is the real deal too - butter and sugar. Society Bakery offers their cakes in an array of flavors; German chocolate, chocolate, pumpkin, Italian cream, strawberry, coconut, vanilla, banana chocolate chip, red velvet, and yellow cake. I ate a coconut cupcake, and it sent my taste-buds into a frenzied love-fest. I also sampled the pumpkin cupcake, which was fantastic. The icing was pumpkin flavored with cinnamon hints, and the cake tastes like a pumpkin bread/cake mix. I also had a bite of another cupcake, I think it was the vanilla one, and it also loaded my taste sensory with buttery delight. However, be prepared to empty your wallet, 'cause these cupcakes are pricey. I had to pick up these cupcakes for a corporate gig, and two dozen cupcakes cost me $70. 80. If my company wasn't paying for these morsels of sugary goodness, I would have never bought them. You know a place is expensive when they don't put their prices in view. I guess if I am craving a coconut cupcake, I need to cover my head in pantyhose, get my gun, and hold up the place for a dozen cupcakes. I have been refining my cupcake palate of late. And Society was the best so far... The whole experience was delightful. I went in around 1045 on a Friday...and the place was bustling. Apparantly, I'm not the only one who eats cupcakes prior to lunch. There were also a couple people huddled around their order of 20 or so frosted cookies. I was tempted to avoid my main mission...cause, after all, frosted cookies light up my life like a second sun...but my resolve to eat a cupcake stood strong. Thus, giddy with anticipation, I selected a pleasant looking cupcake with chocolate cake and chocolate frosting. Overall, it was well balanced. Each bite had a nice cake to frosting ratio. The cake was moist...and the frosting was not too ridiculously sweet (unlike sometimes at Celebrity). Thumbs up... They also had many samples of other cupcakes. It's one of those out of mouth experiences that everyone deserves to have once in their life. Society Bakery offers cupcakes are $3 which is comparable to most other bakeries around town. The taste and quality of the product is what sets this place apart from all others. The size of these cupcakes are monstrous in size and each is topped off with crazy amounts of cream. You will find a wide variety of flavors such as your typical red velvet, carrot, strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, and Italian cream just to name a few. They also have some rotating flavors of the month such as Oreo, peppermint red velvet, apple pie, and the original. The cupcake itself is very moist. My friends have said that they have had one three days after they ordered it and it was still very soft. Something in their batter keeps this cupcake from drying out. Then theres the OMG good cream. The cream is really soft and actually adds to the flavor. It's not just some sugary substance to mask the imperfections of the cake. Seriously, how can other people even try to pass off their version of cream as good. This stuff is the real deal and the complete package. Maybe it's the fluffy cream cheese frosting or the overflowing cake oozing out of the delicate cup. The frosting is perfectly sweetened, not overpowered by the cream cheese. Flavors worth trying: Strawberry, Lemon, Spice, & Red Velvet. I kept comparing their strawberry to Sprinkle's wishing they had actual strawberries in the frosting or actual lemon zest in the lemon cupcake frosting. That pop of flavor would've been perfect. 3 former coworkers b-days, lunch on the patio... had to pick up cupcakes. I had a little bit of time, so I drove to society instead of the usual Cupcakery or Sprinkles. And WOW! I was thrilled with what I got. Chocolate, double-chocolate, carrot, spice, coconut, red velvet...all beautiful and delish! I had the red-velvet, thinking I'd just have a couple of bites. 2 minutes later I had completely devoured it. Woops! I loved the little bakery, too. The woman behind the counter was so nice and helpful. She told me coconut was her fav, so I grabbed one. My friend ate the whole thing. This may be my fav cupcake place in town. I'm in. I have a sweet tooth. A bad one. So basically if it has sugar in it, i'll eat it. Petit fours are my ultimate weakness, and these guys are the best at it!! I could eat 100 in one sitting. Cupcakes? If it has a soft buttery icing cap, forget it. You won't see me for days. Thankfully I can get all my sugary crack at Society! I have never, not once ever placed an order in person. I have always called ahead. Everyone is always so nice and helpful. When I ordered some petit fours for my girlfriends baby shower I wanted a total of 30 with 3 designs split equally. A frog, a baby bootie and a martini glass (yep, she wanted to at least pretend she could drink). All vanilla. The chocolates are also amazeballs. It's not cheap in the slightest....each PF will cost you roughly $4 each. But....its worth it and your belly fat with thank you. The only thing that I absolutely grinds my gears, is the parking. Picking up on a Saturday? I would rather slit my wrists. There is never any parking, not in front or on the side streets. The first time I tried to pick up an order they brought it out to me after I tried for 25, yes 25 minutes to look for parking. Lovely and the lady was suuuuper nice. Another time I had the MP get out and run in to get them while I circled the block. Another time after I hit the 15 min mark I called to see if they had private parking since I was just picking up (and running late) and the woman said "no sorry, you'll just have to keep circling." Uh.....whaaaa?? Whatevs. I know the parking isn't their fault, so I'm not deducting anything...but its annoying. I was working in Medical City this week and needed to make a latte run. I went into the bakery in Building A to ask for the location of the Starbucks. Big mistake. Not in a bad way, but a good way, since the salesperson mentioned they can make anything Starbucks could except frappacinos. So, against my better judgment I ordered my double shot latte. As my latte was getting prepared I was forced to view all the sweets. I do not have one ounce of willpower. I am attracted to cupcakes, I have had bad (many) and good (few), so I convinced myself to buy two cupcakes, I ordered the Double Chocolate and Vanilla. These cupcakes were sheer perfection! The cupcakes had a desirable texture, light, not thick and heavy, and the icing was scrumptious. I do believe they use molasses to sweeten the Double Chocolate. In order to redeem myself, I spent an extra 15 minutes on the treadmill at the hotel gym, and plan to do a run tomorrow (Saturday) after my personal training session. I just like to note, that Hey Cupcake! in Austin take heed and learn from this place. They are friendly, efficient, and know how to make one helluva cupcake! I am officially addicted to Society Bakery. I have day dreams about these cupcakes. One of my professors in school was discussing different "societies" and just hearing the word "society" was sending me into complete cupcake craving hysteria. My attention shut down completely, and all I could think about was shoving a creamy, light, fluffy cupcake in my pie-hole. I never thought I would be jumping on the cupcake bandwagon, but with Society, I am riding in the front seat. I think I have eaten about 80% of what they sell, from the glorious cupcakes to the fresh-baked cookies. EVERYTHING is great. But I will just elaborate on the items that are truly divine in my mind: 1. Spice Cupcakes 2. Italian Cream Cupcakes 3. Vanilla Petit Four- which are miniature layered cakes with a smooth, slightly sticky filing. 4. Cranberry White Chocolate & Walnut cookies 5. Cream-filled Banana cupcakes Eating any of these things is simply blissful. I am not a hugest fan of chocolate (strange, I know) but the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cupcakes are also really great. Every time I am on Greenville now, it's like my car magically drives itself to Society Bakery and I end up walking out with $15 worth of treats all for myself. Best cupcakes in Dallas. Best bakery in Dallas. Best way to slaughter your New Years resolution. (Also, they told me they are opening a 2nd location a little further north on Preston, I think. MMMMMMMMMMMM fluffy heaven!!!!! I can't tell you about the service of Society but from what I understand it's impeccable!!! The cupcakes are seriously little pillows of sheer JOY! I say pillows because they are very fluffy and not too weighed down. I tried a regular chocolate and the banana chocolate chip. They both were wonderful but the banana was amazing! I was not expecting it to be as flavorful as it was. The banana was not overpowering and the chocolate added just enough. I think that the frosting was a cream cheese. This was the perfect frosting because the sweetness was perfect! You will never buy another grocery store cupcake after you try this place.
