The 3 of us each ordered the Scallopini El Pollo and the Allegra Salad. We've been here multiple times. We really wish they were open for lunch. The chicken was very thinly sliced, covered in creamy lemony sauce. The 3 pieces of chicken were placed on some creamy and tasty mashed potatoes. Next, on the plate, we had cooked small carrots, roasted squash and brussel sprouts. All tasted very good. Lots of food left over for lunches. The wait staff were polite, attentive and friendly. Usually wonderful service and good food. We had the lasagna, pumpkin tortellini and the chicken scaloppini with lemon caper sauce. For desert we had the creme brûlée and coffee gelato affogato. The dishes came out fairly quickly and everything was delicious except for a few exceptions. One of orders came out incorrectly. My friend had ordered the pumpkin lasagna special but she got the regular lasagna. The other critic I had was with pumpkin tortellini dish. It just needed more seasoning, a tad more salt. Pleasant 21st century contemporary place with a long bar. Nice atmosphere where it's not deafeningly loud like many restaurants in Los Angeles where unimportant people who want to be noticed are the loudest. My waitress was efficient, aware of customer needs at many times ahead of my requests which came to mind. 1) Arancini Siciliani: Finely breaded tear drop shaped, rice that is tinged with tasty Sugo di Pomodoro/tomato sauce. Stuffed with red wine, tomato braised shortrib, peas, hint of Mozzarella. All fried like a fritter. Accompanied by a gravy boat of Salsa Marinara. These Arancini are one of the tastiest in a long time. 2) Mezze Lune di Crostacei/crustaceans: Half moon shaped Ravioli stuffed with a shrimp and scallop mince meat. (Technically scallops are not crustaceans but mollusks.) Plumped, meaty, moist sautéed shrimp with a cream saffron sauce that did not have that oyster scent unique to saffron. For me, the Ravioli pasta was too thick in comparison to the small amount of the shrimp & scallops stuffing so that all I could sense was the carbs. Still acceptable as a pasta dish. A worthy Secondi from a 2022 menu would have been Lombata di Vitelo Milanese. Veal loin breaded and fried accompanied by a fresh vegetable medley. But I was too filled by the Antipasto & the Pasta, anyway. 1-2a) Nero d'Avola, Donnafugata, "Sedara", Sicilia, Italia 2020: Typically juicy fruits of cherry, plum, blackberry. Smooth acidity, lower tannins, mellow. Hint of cinnamon, allspice. 3) Crostata di More: Plush, soft, moist Tart is made of almond flour brushed with Beurre Noisette/browned butter topped with a dollop of vanilla bean ice cream. Surrounded by Sauce Anglaise custard cream & soupçon of strawberry sauce. Extra sweet fresh blackberries, blueberries, strawberry & mint leaf accent with a splash of whipped cream from a can rounds out this creation. The tart itself was a bit gummy upon chewing, but the exemplary fruits were the hit of this Dolce. Friendly staff, good surroundings, competent food makes Osterìa Piccola the premier Italian in Santa Clarita along with, I assume, its sister, Trattoria Piccola. 4 stars read more

Made a reservation but felt rushed the moment we sat down. The server took our drink order and was expecting us to order mains at the same time. I wanted to order apps, but was pushed towards mains instantly. Before I was able to confirm my dinner order the server, who never mentioned his name at all, yanked the menus off the table. We ordered a 50$ pasta with black truffle shaved tableside, but that never happened as we had to ask the server where the truffles were. Overall probably won't be returning anytime soon. read more

I read the negative reviews after I went to this location myself, and I have to say. Those reviews were upset about things that THEY could've fixed themselves by speaking up to their waiter. With that being said, HOLY MOLY. This place is absolutely delicious, and I had the pizza with spicy salami. My husband got the shrimp pasta with red sauce and the consistency of the shrimp and pasta was phenomenal. The sauce was perfect, not acidic AT ALL. We also ordered calamari and the sauce was phenomenal as well. They serve everyone baguette with butter as a starter and it was PHENOMENAL. The service was what you get when you dine as a white table top restaurant . And we ordered Diet Coke, which had entirely too much ice. But, I spoke up and they fixed my problem!! Our son chose Piccola Osteria for his birthday dinner. It was surprisingly busy on a Sunday night, but with reservations we were seated immediately upon check in. We started with warm bread and cocktails. Our son ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita and his wife chose to have a glass of Moscato. My son said his drink was a bit strong. The food was beautifully presented and overall delicious. Our appetizers were quite good. The Chilean Sea Bass and Branzino were exceptional. My husband felt the Osso Bucco was ok. The portion was smaller than expected and it was not as flavorful as he's had elsewhere. The Panna Cotta is a favorite -- not too sweet, perfectly balanced with a slightly tart sauce and mixed berries. The service -- EXCELLENT from start to finish. The staff is incredibly attentive, warm and professional. We never had to ask for anything. A few years ago I wrote a review when Piccola Osteria first opened. At the time it felt like a welcome clone of Piccola Trattoria dropped into the most suburban location imaginable, a strip mall across from Del Taco and a grocery store. It was good news for those of us in the neighborhood who wanted something better than chain Italian without driving across town. Four-plus years later, the real test is simple: do you keep coming back? We do. Regularly. That says more than any early review ever could. Piccola Osteria has quietly become our neighborhood standby. It's the place we go when cooking feels like a chore but we still want a proper meal, not takeout that tastes like it came from a food factory. Over the years we've worked our way through most of the menu, often more than once, and the consistency is what keeps us returning. The appetizers remain strong. The polpette are exactly what they should be: simple, flavorful meatballs in a good marinara. The carpaccio is fresh and bright with arugula and lemon. Prosciutto with burrata is hard to mess up if the ingredients are good, and here they usually are. The arancini with braised short rib are still one of the better starters on the menu. The pastas continue to carry the kitchen. The gnocchi Sorrentina are reliably soft and comforting. The fettuccine Bolognese tastes like a sauce that has had time to develop. The tortelloni di brasato and the pumpkin tortelloni are richer options that never disappoint. And when we're in a seafood mood, the linguine vongole or spaghetti pescatora usually hit the mark. The secondi are solid as well. The osso buco is consistently good, and the branzino is fresh and often filleted tableside, which still feels like a small luxury in a neighborhood restaurant. Service has also held up well. In all the years we've been coming here, we've only had one off night where the service felt disorganized. Otherwise it's been friendly and attentive. Another subtle but encouraging sign: some of the staff speak Italian, and you can actually exchange a few words in Italian if you're inclined. That's usually a decent signal you're not in a completely Americanized version of the cuisine. The menu still leans broadly "Italian" rather than regional Italian. There are a couple of concessions to American expectations, like spaghetti and meatballs or a Caesar salad, neither of which you'd typically see in Italy. But restaurants in suburban California have to meet their customers where they are, and those dishes clearly keep the tables full. If I still had a wish list after all these years, it would be the same gentle nudge: it would be great to see the kitchen rotate in a few seasonal or regional additions. Something like pici with wild boar ragù, trofie with pesto, or a few rustic polenta dishes would be fantastic. Italian cuisine has endless regional depth, and even a few rotating specials would add another dimension. The wine list remains reasonably priced, which is refreshing. Markups aren't outrageous, and the cocktails are well made. The White Negroni in particular is worth ordering. At the end of the day, Piccola Osteria has proven something more valuable than novelty: reliability. In a neighborhood where most dining options lean toward chains and fast casual, having a small place that consistently delivers honest Italian food is something worth appreciating. I love me some small Italian family type restaurants and this restaurant in Canyon Country, Piccola Osteria is a lovely, sophisticated feeling of a restaurant. With some of their pastas made in house, they have very authentic tasting food. The pasta is prepared aldente with delicious sauces. I went with the Rigatoni Salcicca, which was amazing. The service was attentive by our server's associate. He made sure our beverages were never empty and filled our bread basket when another staff failed to do so. Piccola was incredibly disappointing. Reservation was made in advance and confirmed 3x with management that we were celebrating my mother's birthday. Food came out quickly, which we were pleasantly surprised with, but the speed of food service was matched equally with the speed of clearing our table. Tonight was a very busy Friday night, so I can understand this is a business and turning tables is critical to service all your anxious customers. We arrived at 6:25 for a 6:30pm reservation, and after being asked if we were finished one too many times, we asked/paid our bill at 7:16pm. We were expecting the birthday offering, and waited awhile but the server never came back with anything. So we got up, gathered our stuff and walked out. I had my family walk out first, and I asked for the manager (G) who acknowledged the reservation showed that it was for my mother's birthday and subsequently did offer a brief apology, but quickly turned to attend her other guests waiting in the small lobby area. My message to management -- Good quality food brings your customers thru the door for the first time, but it is the quality of attentive service and experience that keeps bringing your customers back. And tonight, you made it clear the experience you offer your customers is lacking severely to the point where turning tables takes precedence above making sure your clients have the best experience. We won't be back. We left, picked up dessert and ended up celebrating mom's birthday with dessert at home. read more

MAR2024 Quite busy for dinner. I'd say some of the downfall would just be the noise. The server checked in here and there, water refills were infrequent though he answered any questions that we had. I had ordered the eggplant parmigiana, the brussel sprouts and brocollini sides. The brussel sprouts were overdone and oily, but the broccolini and eggplant were cooked quite well. Simple, not overdone on the salt. The eggplant had a good amount of sauce and cheese to last through each bite. It was easy to cut through as well which made things easy. Came here for dinner and I was not disappointed. The restaurant has beautiful decor with a true Italian feel. They gave us fresh bread and each table has balsamic and olive oil for dipping. We started with the marguerita pizza and the dough was soft, warm with a crispy crust- I highly recommend this! Off the the Specials we ordered the truffle pasta and the filet mignon. Pasta is made fresh here and they made the steak perfectly. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu which was fantastic and the Panna Cotta; this was on the lighter side, but still amazing. I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the service our party of seven received during our holiday celebration. We encountered several lapses in professionalism, beginning with our server walking away mid-sentence while we were inquiring about the drink menu. The most concerning moment, however, occurred during the entree service. Despite a guest clearly ordering the salmon a fact witnessed by the entire table; she was served the lamb. When she politely pointed out the error, the server chose to argue with her, insist she was wrong, and claim she had 'ordered the same' as another guest. It is highly unprofessional to prioritize being 'right' over guest satisfaction, particularly in a large group setting. We expected a much higher standard of hospitality for our event. read more

Went last week (9/12/25). Wife ordered the rigatoni with truffle sauce and I had the lamb chop. The rigatoni to meat ratio was very good and the sauce was very savory. The truffle sauce was not over the top but pungent enough. It was good enough that it makes you regret ordering something else. The lamb chop cooked medium rare was absolutely perfect and almost fall off the bone. My wife who does not like Lamb took a bite and actually liked it.
