Well, I went back to Sofa U Love in December. I previously had 1 Hollywood loveseat in chocolate brown, and one Hollywood sofa in light blue. I LOVED these couches, but my brother and his wife were starting out with literally nothing as a young married couple with a kid, so I gave my couches to them. I was actually happy to do it because secretly, I'd been wanting a sectional, and this gave me the excuse I needed! I went back to Marina at the Hollywood store because I knew she'd guide me. I generally never really know what I want when I go in, but she gives me a lot of input. Everyone knows that the mark of good customer service is twofold: a) If you know exactly what you want, they'll make sure you get it, and b) If you have no idea what you want, they'll work with to find out your tastes and help you narrow down. Marina is great at this. All I really knew was that I wanted a sectional in light blue. Beyond that, no clue. When it comes to decorating and furnishing my apartment, I'm the kind of person who can narrow down what I DON'T want, but when it comes to figuring out what I DO want, I get a little lost amid so many options. I wandered around the showroom while Marina pointed out different features and gauged my reactions to them. Based on my feedback (I wrinkled my nose up at certain styles, and I ooohed and ahhhed over certain styles), I ended up going with the low camel arm sectional in Skylight. It's absolutely gorgeous! (Pretty similar to the one in the pic above, except mine is blue, with 2 brown cushions as well.) Stupidly, I measured wrong (yes, MY mistake, not theirs), so I had a bit of a panic freakout when they delivered it and it wouldn't fit in the door. Thankfully, the delivery guys (for an extra $80 cash, which I was HAPPY to spend to cover my mistake of measurement!) actually tied a rope around the longer side of the sectional and hoisted it up my balcony (I'm on the 2nd floor) and into my living room. It was quite a production, and one of the guys who was working on laying concrete in my apartment building walkway also joined in without being asked and helped. (I tipped him, too!) I was blown away and SO thankful that everything worked out. My couch is gorgeous and comfy and I am so thankful to Marina for helping me figure out what I wanted. read more

I bought a sofa in 2000 which is still in excellent condition despite many washings. I just gave it to my niece to furnish her first apartment and bought two loveseats in the same fabric to replace it. Having read some of these reviews I was a bit worried but they turned out exactly like the one in the store and they look great in my living room. The only complaint I have it that the delivery was a little inconvenient. Had I realized that they only deliver between 1 pm and 5 pm I would have waited to place the order until later in the year when it would have been easier for me to take a day off to wait for the delivery. I paid for delivery with a cashiers check so I had a record of the payment in case there was a problem. read more

I have absolutely no idea what the other reviews are talking about. Sofa U Love was recommended to us by one of the best production designers in the business, so we knew they would do a great job and understand getting things done on a tight schedule but boy DID THEY DELIVER!!! The club chairs we had recovered not only looked beautiful but were done in record time and for a very good price. Marina was not only lovely but helpful and accommodating and very responsive to calls and questions. They get an A+ for quality AND customer service which is rare to have both. DO NOT!!! Sure, our sofas were comfortable, but the slipcovers and pillowcases don't hold up well (after 1 delicate washing!!!) and when you try and have those replaced they'll charge your more than half the original cost of the whole thing. This is a true tragedy of what appeared to be a great business model and approach to home furnishings. This is also why people are scared to support local businesses as opposed to Ikea or whatever. All they had to do was say "Sure, a replacement slipcover is $300" and I'd have been a happy customer. Seemed a plenty reasonable estimate inside my head, at least. read more

This is unbelievable that this company continues to make excuses. If you look at my original comment it was posted in 2007 until someone, from your company no doubt, attempted to have it removed. I tried to deal with you many times in 2007 when the incident originally occurred, even going to the BBB. You did nothing about it, insisting that the sofas weren't paid for after you delivered them with the wrong covers and insisting that your delivery person be paid the balance in cash, which I gave him and which you conveniently lost all records of. I even faxed you several times a copy of the check I wrote to withdraw the cash from my account with the comment "sofa u luv" in the memo. Of course each time you conveniently lost it. Furthermore I spoke to Vic several times. The only motivation I have is to stop someone else from getting swindled by your company as I DID. read more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. These people are crooks. I bought a sofa for $1,300 and within 10 months it was SHREDDING. Just completely disintegrating. It's been 24 months now and the couch has completely fallen apart. The fabric has literally just fallen off. My emails, texts, and phone calls have been repeatedly ignored by Marina, Jasmine, and Johnnie at the factory....even after I sent numerous photos documenting the disintegration of the fabric over the course of 18 months. They finally paid attention when I threatened to bring the couch to the store and park myself and the couch at the front door for all potential customers to see the quality of their merchandise. They came to my house and picked it up...but without calling first. They just showed up one day and I wasn't home, so the babysitter let them take it. They refused to leave a receipt with her, even after she asked them twice. They also refused to take the cushions for some reason. It's now been three weeks and I have yet to receive a replacement couch, a refund, a promise to fix it, ANYTHING. I can't even get them to call me back. This place needs to be shut down. I'm starting here...spread the word. Next up is the local news. read more

Woohoo! Marina is the best! My couch was looking old, so Marina helped me create a new slip cover and boom - it looks fantastic and completely jazzes up my entire living room. I measured the old couch, picked out the colors, and Marina did the rest! You can even do everything over the phone - although going to the showroom is a treat not to be missed. We first met Marina close to 20 years ago. She works with many in our industry, and we were always impressed with how the finish products turned out. With her help, we customed designed numerous pieces for our home, negotiated a fair and reasonable price, placed the order and a few weeks later, our new furniture arrived. Fast forward to a few weeks ago. The pieces we had made have held up marvelously well, but it was time for a refurbishing...styles, colors etc. change, so we went straight back to Marina, and repeated the process with virtually no hassles. Yes, a little bit of tough negotiating on the price, but we came to a deal we were happy with. We even made a change a few days after we ordered them and Marina was able to accommodate that. So, our experience has been pretty excellent. This is a great place to get outstanding design, excellent craftsmanship, timely delivery, a fair price AND working with Marina is about as good an experience as one could get. read more

I bought a custom sectional sofa almost 3 years ago from the Studio City location. I also got hooked into Johnny at the factory location which was on San Fernando Road at the time. I had Johnny make two decorative pillows from my own fabric and also repair an antique chair I had. They did a great job on the chair and pillows. So I have to say I found them very helpful in accommodating my design and textile fabric choice during the purchase process. The sectional was done on schedule and looked amazing when they delivered it. Over the past 2 years and 9 months the seams on the seat cushions started separating and became very flat and unattractive. The sofa was very well cared for and never abused in any way. So thinking that this shouldn't happen to a custom sofa in such a short time I went back to the Studio City store to ask what they could do. They recommended that I take the cushions to Johnny at the factory new location on Western Ave. In December 2014 I went with two of the worst seat cushions to see Johnny. He told me to bring them back right after the first of the year and he would repair all of the fabric seams and give me new cushions that would make it look like new and would retain their shape for much longer. He did as promised and I picked them up 4 days later. They did a great job and the sofa seat cushions really do like like brand new. I see some reviews indicating that their issues were not handled and the customer service was poor. On the contrary, I found them incredibly accommodating and very friendly customer service in making this right. Jasmine coordinated much of this with Johnny I have to thank both of them. read more

I ordered a Hollywood sectional from the Santa Monica location and everything was great except the chaise cushion was too soft (the rest of the couch was amazing). I notified the Santa Monica store immediately and we agreed that on my next free weekday, I would go to the factory in Hollywood with my cushion and a copy of my invoice to get it fixed. I'm not gonna lie, after reading the negative reviews, I was afraid they weren't going to help me. But I was wrong. I brought a copy of my invoice, some photos so they could see how it was sitting in relation to the rest of the sofa, and explained to them clearly (and patiently) what I felt was wrong with the cushion and what I was looking for. In a matter of a few hours, they replaced the cushion. I tested it on a chaise frame there and it felt good. I brought it home and just put it on the frame at and it's perfect. It matches the rest of the sofa and feels great. Johnny was very clear with me regarding how it will probably feel with some wear over the next few years. It's the same thing that a friend of mine who has had this sofa for 10 years said. Anyway, I'm very happy with the sectional and service. I did have to replace the cushion but overall it was a pretty quick fix and I'm very happy. Thank you Johnny and Marina. read more

The service at this location is categorically ridiculous. I came to this place to replace the cushion filling of my sofa. The cost is $327. That's just the cushion. I dropped it off on a Saturday and I was told it will be ready on Monday. I received a message on Monday saying "it would be ready on Friday, but don't come. Call first. " Then received another call the following Monday saying that "your item is ready for pick up. You can come anytime except before 4:30 pm and Saturday or Sunday". So much for anytime. I called the following Friday at 6:00 to make sure I can come to pick up my cushion. I was told no because they are about to close. I am here now still trying to pick up my cushion. Have been here for almost 45 minutes and still waiting. I am not sure how other locations are but they have no concept of what service is. DO NOT ever spend your money at this place. Worst place ever. read more

Worst customer service! I ordered new seat cushions for my sofa and was told it would be 2 - 3 weeks. I was given the run around for more than 2 months! I ordered them through Marina and had to keep calling to find out when I would receive my order, but only received excuses: their "receptionist was a flake," the girl who is supposed to call when orders arrive "got pregnant and left." At one point, Marina told me one of the workers gave my order to another customer because they were in the store and didn't know they were mine. I had to keep calling her. Another time, when she said she would call me the next day to confirm if my order arrived, I never heard from her. It went on and on. I finally got my seat cushions, was told I was given a discount, but no discount was given. I was charged the original price I was quoted. Then they told me they couldn't give me a discount because they "don't make any money on the cushions anyway." How can you run a business and not make a profit?! Lots of BS, no customer service. Save yourself a lot of headaches and buy your sofa somewhere else! read more

Seriously, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. My partner and I met with Marina on a random day, when we randomly decided we needed a new sectional. I brought a pic of what I was generally looking for, but was displeased with at other locations. Marina spent almost an hour with us discussing how she could make the perfect sectional with inspiration from the picture, and ideas of how to make it even better. She gave us a very short timeline of when this would be completed and quoted a price I thought was made up. The sectional arrived THE DAY she said it would, and was even better than we could have imagined. She explained that there would be more cushioning than what you could find in most stores, and she was right. It is soooo comfortable. It ended up being larger than our doorway, and the deliverymen went the extra mile to tie it up and hoist it over our balcony into our condo. The whole is experience deserves and A+. read more

just picked up new slipcovers for my 10 year old sofa u love sofa at the hollywood location, marina sent me alot of samples and i was able to place the order by phone. my slipcovers are perfect and were ready in 1 week. perfect fit and makes my old sofa, look like new again. thanks again marina for all you help read more
