Love this bar! They have a great liquor and beer selection! Their speciality drinks are delicious as well. They are known for their hot chicken sandwich. I've never had it but my boyfriend always gets it. I always get the house speciality burger in slider form. Their fried pickles are fire. Their fries aren't my favorite in the area but the rest of their food is top notch! The service is great! We have never had an issue with the bartenders or servers. The service is speedy as well. Definitely a vote for most improved bar in the area. It was about time for me to update my original review. Yes, things have changed and for the better, I might add. The food quality is great these days. I've been back several times lately, usually with friends just to chill after work or on Friday nights. Now that they've seem to have gotten their food program down to a science, it's one of the better bars for grabbing a decent meal. I've had the black bean nachos, sweet potato fries, grilled cheese sandwich and tomato basil soup in recent months. All have been recommendable, but the black bean nachos are the best. They are a must! I simply love those, plus they're a good shareable appetizer. My husband tried the fried pickles and said they were pretty decent (I grabbed a bite and they were pretty good, although I'm not a big fan of fried pickles, FYI). As for the tomato basil soup, I thought it was really good, very savory, especially when the weather is a bit nippy. It's definitely a cold weather classic. I'm glad they've finally added a couple of more vegetarian-friendly items to the menu, including staples like veggie burgers and more creative fare, like the vegetarian bahn mi sandwich. As for the drinks, they're good for the most part, but it still largely depends on who is working that night. In my experience, ask for Andrew to make the drinks if he's around. He seems to know what he's doing. Their beer list, while good and definitely well-rounded, is not super impressive, but they do have a lot of Michigan-made beers, which is something.They do have Two Hearted and Short's on tap, so that's good. My preferred cocktail here is the Dark and Stormy, which is always done right. It's now my go-to cocktail here because it's always reliable. Both drink and food prices are in line with other local pubs/restaurants, but the food quality is definitely a few notches above typical pub grub. It feels like there is a real chef in that kitchen, or at least someone with an appreciation of culinary arts. As for ambiance, it's a chill place to hang out with friends. They still have trivia and live comedy on alternating nights. Sometimes it's too loud to hear yourself talk, but that's just because everyone is just having a good time. It's kind of like Cheers around here- you know, everyone knows everyone else. A few caveats, though. The parking is still a pain. It's extremely limited and no one wants to walk all the way down the street and back just to grab a drink. I don't know what they're going to do when that hard cider place finally opens up across the street and the vacant lot (by the old Jag the Haberdasher) that Soggy is using now for overflow parking is no longer available to them. Parking on this end of the street kinda sucks. Another issue- the restroom could really use a bit of a cleaning. Last time I used it, I felt like grabbing some Lysol and Scrubbing Bubbles and going to town on it. Seriously. read more

It was my first time in Flint last weekend and my friend said this was one place we had to go. She was right. Soggy bottom has a great name AND is the perfect place to hang out on a Saturday night with old (and new) friends! We drank a few too many $3 mystery beers, ordered the best crispiest loaded fries (couldn't stop wouldn't stop eating them), and got to play a lot of pool. Overall, the bartenders were super friendly & the atmosphere was everything I hoped for my Flint experience to be and more. We were excited to show our friends soggy bottom and drove 30 minutes. When we were greeted he told us it would be a long wait and suggested we go elsewhere. We told him we were fine waiting, and went to the bar to get a drink. He approached us and told us we couldn't order a drink until we were seated and was very rude. I was in flint Michigan a couple of days ago and I attempted to go to the soggy bottom bar, it was late at night and me and my family just got out of a concert. When I sat down I said "ok, this place seems ok" and then the waiter came up and I ordered a "water" the waiter said "can I see your ID?". At first I thought it was a joke, but then he was serious. I then got really upset and started ranting how every restaurant was closed in the area, we were hungry and have no choice. He said he was sorry and it was 21 and older after 10 pm. Whoever was the owner or manager can really go to hell so I stormed out of there like a bat out of hell and I felt like going back in there to crack some sculls because that rule is completely outrageous. If the owner views this account, please note your "manager" Ken is horribly equipped to handle customer dissatisfaction. I simply asked him if two people at my table could get their meals discounted after waiting over 45 minutes because the server forgot to put it in. I was not going to post until I saw that many women had the same customer experience with this manager. He was consistently commenting on our frustration with the situation and our quote on quote attitude instead of the actual problem. He followed us back to our table after we said we would rather not speak with him because we found him aggressive and rude and he tried to escalate the situation further. After saying "Thank you, please walk away from me" a total of 10 times, he finally apologized. Thankfully, I understand that walking away is sometimes better than dealing with a small minded adult child. Until this manager leaves this bar, customer service will not exist here. read more

This place is almost a hidden gem. My friends and I had been trying to get a table here and finally did last night. The food options are many- burgers, sandwiches, salads- and are creative. However, the grilled chicken sandwich I had and the house made chicken tenders my husband had really missed the mark. My chicken patty was so overdone that I really should have sent it back. It was like eating jerky. And the patty is marinated! How do you dry out something that bad after it's been marinated???My husband said his tenders were overdone too. My friends enjoyed their burgers, and I liked my side salad. They also have a pretty extensive beer list. All in all, I'm going to give it another chance, but I was pretty disappointed. read more

Cool place, amazing drinks. My partner and I both ordered our burgers medium, hers was perfect, mine was raw. I didn't realize until a couple bites in, and ended up feeling ill. It was the first time I've ever sent food back in my life, but it was clearly raw and completely pink compared to my partners' burger which was ordered to be cooked the same way. When I showed the waitress, she first explained that it's how they cook their burgers, however after inspecting my burger closer, she agreed it looked raw, and said she would bring it back and show the cooks. She ended up giving me half off my burger which was kind, however if you agree your product did not come as ordered, as well as made someone feel ill, I think there are better ways to follow up. I am so angry that I spent 4 years at UM-Flint and only recently heard about this place. Monday is comedy night and Tuesday is jazz night! Their drinks and tap list are unique and delicious, their waitstaff super friendly and awesome, and the food is all made fresh and surprisingly cheap for being such high end bar food! This is my go to burger place right here. The house burger cooked medium with a side of beer cheese for the fries . Wednesday is wagyu smash burger day and you better get there early because they sell out of meat quick and I understand why. They also have really tasty wings that have been marinated in some kind of brine. I tried the unbreaded dry rub but really look forward to trying a different kind next time. I was approached by a suspicious woman wearing a big hat clearly disguised, who asked me if the middle eastern guy I sat next to enjoyed his food. She left quickly and suddenly. This made me uncomfortable, so I reported it to the bartender. She wasn't interested and laughed at me with other guests. I asked for a manager. Ken came over and did everything but swear at me, asked me not to come back, commented on my phone call while I'm on the phone. Swooped up my $$, made rude sarcastic comments to me, and told me to leave. The burger was the best one I ever had. Count your $$. They will cheat you on your change. It was as if this Ken was deliberately trying to provoke to to some sort of aggression. I usually have a good time here.
