We made reservations for dinner at Sogno for my husband's birthday Saturday night and the full experience was just ok Open Table was flawless for making the reservations - we were able to make reservations, notably that we were celebrating a birthday & it all when perfect The hostess was Awesome, we had to wait at the bar because we were early and we all were happy too - the bartender was not attentive to us but after 15 min we were able to order drinks - the drinks were delicious especially recommend the Italian Margarita. The restaurant itself was beautiful, the wine wall amazing, seating was beautiful, the rooms gorgeous! We were seated at 7:30 (reservation 7:15) our server seemed overwhelmed with his section, he did review a few specials and then took 25 minutes to come back to bring us water, although the waiter was very friendly he was very busy and not attentive. we ordered a pizza & meatballs for the appetizer - and our meals - we tried to order another round of drinks but were not able to but once the pizza & meaty arrived we were however we wanted to know what was on tap and we were told the bar was backed up. The food was good not delicious but good, the presentation was lovely, - we ordered appetizers: Margarita Pizza, meatballs, mains: tomato burrata salad, the filet, polenta fries with truffle, the Orecchiette & the veal. dessert: gelato & chocolate tacos Drinks: Italian Margaritas, beer, lemon drop, dirty martini and one other drink. Went for our first visit last night and was about a 40 min drive to get there so we were very hopeful based on reviews, photos and the menu.. but our experience was just "ok" Atmosphere is upscale, lots of glass and open concept. It's loud on a busy night, we were sat next to the kitchen and it was hard to hear our server and even have conversation at the table. Drinks were very good Food was a miss. The pork dish had a lot of fat, and was spicy for my mom. She didn't enjoy hers. My dad and I got the veal, he got a tomato risotto substitute for the mushroom and enjoyed it. I got the mushroom risotto that it comes with and it was undercooked, almost crunchy, and I kept getting overwhelming bites of peppercorn. I like pepper but not an entire mouthful. My wife had the filet and it was cooked perfectly. Our server never came back after we got the food to check in, or I would have asked to swap the risotto for polenta or something else, but by the time she came I had eaten about half the veal(the risotto was the problem not the veal). She asked if I liked the meal and I gave honest feedback but felt like telling if she came back earlier I would have gotten something else. Not after everyone was done their meal. The food is outstanding and they have the best bolagnaise I've ever had (after 2 trips to Italy). Service is always great and the ambience is also excellent. I travel 45 minutes to get here but I still find myself doing this bi-weekly. The restaurant is very upscale and feels very authentic but it is getting close to needed a renovation as it does feel a slight dated. I'm not sure what happened to Sogno. I've been there on two previous occasions, and both were excellent. Everybody who had come with me on those occasions about the food, and I was excited to bring some new faces to the table. But I was let down. Let's start with the service. The service was a bit sporadic. The waiter was attentive at times and left us alone for too long at others. He came whisking in with still water and was filling everyone's glass like a bull in a china shop. When I had to stop him from filling mine to indicate that I preferred sparkling water -- it would have been nice to have been asked. He quickly departed to get the sparkling water and was gone for what seemed like five minutes before he came back, offered the sparkling water, and left again. By this point, we were certainly ready to order our drinks, but since he came and departed so quickly, we didn't have a chance. Later in the meal, between the salad and the entree, someone came to the table and for no apparent reason reset our places with bread plates. I was incredibly confused by this and decided it would be better if I collected up the bread plates and put them at the front of the table because I was quite sure our entrees would come out soon and if the bread plates were there, there would be quite the confusion while we attempted quickly to remove them so that we could eat. I was right because two minutes later, the entrees came out with no one around to remove the bread plates had we not done it ourselves. But let's get to the real disappointment, the food. The menu had gone through a bit of a change since the last time I was there. Prices had gone up a little bit -- that's par for the course these days. The entrees had also been switched up. Quite a few that I remembered were still there, and a few new ones were added, including a pork chop, which I was very excited about. I'll get to that later. Let's start with the pasta dishes. At the table, we had two tagliatelle short rib and one bolognese. I ordered the bolognese on tagliatelle because I much prefer that to rigatoni and they said that was no problem. Now this is an Italian restaurant, and for an Italian restaurant, you'd think they'd get bolognese right. Well, mine came out as a pasty, goopy mass of overcooked tagliatelle with a little bit of bolognese mixed. The sauce was entirely too thick, not enough meat, and overly sweet. It was terrible, quite frankly. I haven't had bolognese that bad anywhere, and for $33, you'd think it would be exceptional. The tagliatelle with short rib also was pasty with overcooked tagliatelle, and the short rib was shredded and unrecognizable. My preference would have been to see slightly larger chunks. Another at the table ordered the salmon. The salmon was fine, and he gave it would give it 3 out of 5 stars, no more. It was a little overcooked, but otherwise just OK. Now let's talk about the pork chop. The pork chop was in the middle of the menu and in the middle of the price range, and quite frankly, with the higher prices, you'd expect that the pork would have at least one side. In the menu, it listed no sides, and so we inquired about that. The waiter confirmed no sides with the pork. Now, every other side on the menu has sides. Even the filetto at $59 had two sides, but the pork chop had none. I think this is a terrible mismanagement of the menu. When you're getting a $52 pork chop, you should at least get one side, if not two, especially if everything else on the menu has its own sides. This isn't a steaks house after all. Well, my husband ordered it anyway with a side of fries because he really wanted the pork chop. He let me taste it. I would give the sauce on the pork chop 4 stars, but the pork chop itself was overcooked, and that made it tougher than I would have expected, especially for a restaurant at this price point. So there you have it. I'm not sure what happened. I'm hoping this was an off night, and that half the kitchen staff called in sick, and that they couldn't cope with the restaurant at full capacity. But when I think about the evidence, recently changed menus, happy waiters that didn't try to make any excuses, I have to think something else has gone wrong. Perhaps they have a new chef that doesn't know what they're doing. I don't know. Anyway, I would have to give Sogno 2 out of 5 stars. And the only reason it gets more than 1 is that the atmosphere is very nice, and the food all came out together. read more

We have eaten 5 times at Sogno. First three times; delicious, great service. Then third time, not good- pasta way under cooked; pizza burned a raw in center, salad- way over dressed. Broccolini was covered in chili oil and garlic. $350 for two and not one dish tasted good. So went 5th time. It is close to Winchester, where I live. Great decor and service. 5th time- 6 of us; not one good meal. So disappointing. Consistency is so key, they must have labor issues- they started so strong, not sure what happened, the dishes are not consistent. Had a salad with kale, way over dressed, soupy and hot- first time I had it, it was cold and delicious. Cod, over cooked. Pasta so so, under cooked. Pork chop very over cooked, hard, flavorless. I hope they get the kitchen issues corrected. But $1000 down for two meals- not going back any time soon. read more

Went to Sogno for a birthday dinner last night, it was a busy night, a lot of noises. Service was great and we got sat down right at our reservation time. Highly recommended to make a reservation ahead of time. We started the night with some drinks and apps - the espresso martini was so rich and creamy - I can go for 2 of those. We ordered the grilled octopus and truffle pizza for our starters - we loved both of them, there was so much flavors especially the truffle pizza, the braised short ribs paired so well with it. Me and my friend ordered a rib eye to share, on the menu it sounds delicious but when the plate came it look unimpressive - it would've been nice if it was paired with a side or potatoes of some sort. The steak was cooked to perfection but it was not the perfect piece of steak, there were too many connective tissue and it make it hard to chew. Also, the bone marrow on the menu sounds good but when I was eating the steak I can't really notice it other than the butter. My friends order the seafood arriabatta & roasted cod for their appetizer and it was much better. read more

My son and I went to Sogno for Easter dinner. The Eastern menu had really great set of meals and the a la cart menu had great offerings, as well! I ordered the ten ounce fillet mignon and my son ordered the braised rabbit and gnocchi. It was delicious. The desserts were beautifully served and absolutely divine. The ambiance was awesome! I'm not sure if it was the owner or the general manager however, he came around to all the tables and even struck up a conversation with my son about his rugby jersey. My wife and I came here a few months back on a Saturday night. We were in town for a Friday wedding... seriously, who gets married on a Friday. I digress. Since we had no plans for Saturday, we decided to check out Sogno for a nice dinner. First we sat at the bar where Dan kept our glasses full with delicious drinks and our souls full of laughter and joy. He was on point. Being from New York, it was nice to find a Bostonian who respects Derek Jeter as much as I do. We were sad to leave the bar, but when we were seated at our table we met Peter. All I can say is WOW. My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at Sogno. We used the private dinning area for approximately 40 people. The room, food and service was exceptional. All of our guests left very happy from their meal selection from Caesar Salad, Filet Mignon, Roast Cod, Tomato Burrata salad, lasagna and Tiramisu in addition to other selections. The most popular drink was the Espresso Martini. Elizabeth, the event coordinator was so helpful in planning our event. She made sure everything went smoothly and was there the evening of our event. My family I dined out this Thanksgiving at Sogno's. The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and inviting. The service was top notch. Our serve Alexis was attentive, knowledgeable, and fun to interact with. She made excellent suggestions and checked in regularly to make sure we were taken care of. I had ordered a drink, but didn't receive it until I was done eating and ready to leave, so told the server I didn't want it anymore. There was no apology for such awful service when the server realized he had messed up. Large table next to us received excellent service the entire time we were there. I have had the pleasure of dining at Sogno four times now (I keep going back!). As soon as you enter, elegance and class come to mind. The date appetizer special was incredible. The pizza is authentic to what you would have in Italy. The pasta dishes are generous servings yet light and flavorful (the orecchiette and bolognese are delicious). My two favorite dishes however are the bistecca florentina and the arugula salad. The steak was hands down the best cut of meat I've ever had and cooked to perfection. The dish is meant to serve two but could have served three (the picture doesn't do it justice how large a cut it is). The arugula salad is a unique, light, and a zesty delight. Ok. This is my new favorite restaurant. Got there at 1130. Was lucky to get a reservation. Hostess and host fantastic. Seated promptly! Place looks awesome. First time there. You owe it to yourself to pay a visit to Sogno. This restaurant is firing on all cylinders and delivers a satisfying dining experience. The food was excellent (we had the grilled octopus appetizer and a surf and turf special), the setting was intimate even though the space is large, and the service was impeccable and professional. Our waiter suggested a wine by the glass that paired well with the steak and brought out another style of wine to try in addition to the one we had discussed. Service-oriented and friendly. 5 stars. Both food and service. First start with polpo, then work your way to the margherita. Classic pie but can easily be cooked incorrectly.....not the case here. Delicious Polpo was fresh, light, and was paired with a nice glass of wine by way of recommendation from our server, Anthony. After pizza, and a glass of red (another fabulous recommendation) I opted for the veal cutlet. I've had my fair share of so/so veal cutlets but always like to take chances on newer places to test their iteration. Sogno did this right. Again - light, refreshing, delicious. I tried Sogno for the first time last night with a few of my friends. The restaurant is gorgeous! The ladies at the door were welcoming and engaging. My server, Liz was incredible! She recommended an excellent cocktail and wine. She also helped me choose my entree and sides based on my interests. The service was very good but the food was only so so. The stuffed calamari was very rubbery. The monkfish dinner special was very salty. Someone is not tasting the food before it leaves the kitchen. Went on a Saturday night 7 pm, we had reservations for a high top but there was seats available at the bar so we decided to sit there. Food was great service could have been better. Took them a while to acknowledge us and as us for a drink I know it was a Saturday night it was busy but not packed plenty of seats at the bar not sure about the restaurant itself, I think there were 3 maybe 4 bartenders on. That was the service we got the whole night slow and ignored. But I would give them another chance maybe it was an off night for them.
