You know that spot that every neighborhood has that you know it's probably not that good but has been in business so long that it's pretty much become a routine for all the locals. They go there, their parents, and their parents parents. I would have never Well imagine for a minute if the food and service alike were absolutely exemplary. Introducing.....DeMainos! DeMainos has been serving fresh Italian classics for over 85 years. The list of menu items is too numerous to name. Appetizers like bruschetta and calamari, mains like fettuccine Alfredo and chicken cacciatore and baked ziti, veal, scampi, brick oven pizza and even sandwiches. The list goes on and on. I can't speak for too many because I've only visited once, but the eggplant parm is superb. The lasagna was easily one of the best I've ever had. That includes stateside or in all the various cities I've been to in Italy. It was that good. The bread is downright addictive. Boston has one of the best Italian food scenes in all of America, as many of hours long wait times will tell you. But never would I suspect Revere would have something to say about that. Heck, if it wasn't for a friend whos parents grew up in the area, and who recently discovered this place themselves, I would have never found myself here. DeMainos is the real deal. And I have absolutely no problems if it remains a hidden gem. Trust me I won't complain that the parking was easy, or the lack of wait time lol Demainos is one of the easiest 5s I've ever given! We came in on Saturday early evening the place was not busy when we got there. At first our waitress was attentive and then it was like she disappeared. We had to ask other waitresses to find our waitress because we were and had been for at least 10 mins or more without drinks. They also say this is a family restaurant, well it didn't seem like that to me. Before we even finished eating live music started playing and it was so loud we couldn't even have a conversation with anyone at our table. While the people who got spaghetti said it was okay, the person who got shrimp Alfredo said it was the best. I got an appetizer and so did my husband. He got wings and he said they were dry (btw they don't have ranch here), I ordered shrimp scampi and I got 4 grilled shrimp on rice (was not shrimp scampi at all). We wanted Italian and I feel like I got food I could have gotten at IHOP. read more

Had dinner this past Thursday with the wife. I had steak tips medium rare with rice and she had fettuccine alfredo. As usual, my tips came out exactly as I ordered. Six nice plump tips snd and a medium sized one. They tasted great, the rice was okay, but never had a bad meal here. The wife's meal was just as good as she didn't leave a drop of food to take home. The prices have gone up on my tips ($2), but that's okay. The waitresses are also great and we like coming here. I wish I could put negative stars. The waitresses are all over 70. If they could do their jobs, age doesn't matter. But unless you're their only table, they can't keep up. One Sunday we were shocked to have a waitress who looked to be in her 30s, but she must've been new because she basically ignored us the entire time other than when she took our order, and we never saw her again the few times we visited after. It was a busy Sunday but the old lady waitress (Adel) was doing circles around the poor girl. The wife and I have decided no more Demainos. After the mouse incident, then the smell of cigarettes wafting from the kitchen, the issue where the waitress was nodding off back in 2013, and the downhill nature of the food over the last 3-4 years, Demainos once being the best Italian in Revere, is officially off our list of dinner options . A true shame. My wife is from Milan, and she used to enjoy how close-to-authentic the food was. Mino must've quit or been fired (if they fired him, big mistake, that head chef was amazing) because ever since Covid they've gradually become more and more disgusting with each visit. Don't bother with this place anymore....ill support local businesses who can define "consistent" since I think Lenny and Lenny Jr. forgot what it means. Bartender Kathy is great, but we won't be giving our money to this business anymore, sorry. Save your $$$ and take the 15 minute drive to Hanover St in Boston for some real Italian at Mamma Maria unless you enjoy eating bland food served by people with no business working in service. It's a shame. Demainos used to be great. Then it became good. Then okay. And now it's unacceptable. I wonder what happened. But also, I don't really care. The doors will likely be shut permanently in the next 5 years and hopefully a real Italian restaurant will take its place. My wife and I were staying in a local hotel for the night and selected Demaino's for dinner. It's exactly what you would expect from a quaint, comfortable, no frills neighborhood Italian restaurant. The food was great as was the service - very friendly and helpful. I did take a star off to give it 4 simply because the decor is old, outdated, and tired. And that's okay if your real quest is a good meal in a comfortable neighborhood eatery. My meal Chicken Verdicchio was the best of that style I have ever had and bought the chef a glass of wine as a complement. My wife was very complementary about her meal and I agree as I had to steal a few bites of that to taste! Not a spectacular wine list, but the cab I had was fine and very reasonably priced for the pour. I would not hesitate to go back there again! read more

I hate leaving a bad review, but really it was the worst fra-diavolo I've had. Had the stuffed mushrooms. They were pretty tasteless and super tiny. We discovered this restaurant 3 years ago at my wife's family DNA get together. Through Ancestry she found several family members and that she is 20% Italian! We both had our favorite off-menu dish Chicken Francaise, with linguine and it was the best we had ever had, including having eaten at several North End Restaurants! We have been back many times since, and though many of their dishes look delicious, we just have to order it!! Comes with zuppa or salad, I always get the Minestrone, filled with veggies and also the best!! We highly recommend this small neighborhood gem!!! read more

The next time I get a "kiss my grits" attitude from a waitress, I am leaving. It went down from there. I got bruchetta, a favorite, and quickly sent it back. My companion got chicken, zitti, brochli and it came floating in oil. She was never offered the alfredo version. She took 1/2 home. Ms kiss my grits packed it up. The olive oil spilled all over the taxi cab seat and I had to get out wipes and paper towels (yes I carry them) If you choose to eat at Damaino's you better to. Went there with a friend last night as we heard they've improved their menu and food quality the place was packed. We sat at the bar. I ordered mussels in white garlic sauce. The other ordered chicken cacciatore. The food came out within 15 minutes. My mussels were open signifying that they were cooked and ready. Somehow 1/3 of them tasted uncooked and raw. I didn't eat those but afterwards had a rough night in the b.r. The other diner was disappointed in the cacciatore. He felt that the chicken was previously cooked and heated when the peppers mushrooms and onions were cooking. Then added to the sauce. We didn't stay for dessert. The drinks were admirable and large. Amazing experience all around. Came here while staying in Boston for the weekend, it was my niece's Birthday and she was craving Italian food, luckily I found Demaino's via yelp. The restaurant itself is a typical hole-in-the-wall restaurant, the décor was definitely dated, but I happen to like that in restaurants, it helps make people feel at home. We did make a reservation and were seated fairly quickly, the service overall was ok, they were definitely a bit busy so it did take some time for the servers to come to us for ordering and drinks/refills, but nothing too bad. The food itself did not take too long to come out, which can definitely be a bit alarming at some places, you never want the food too fast, but the food here is the main reason for my 5 stars, everything was excellent. We had a few appetizers, the calamari tasted very fresh and crispy, the stuffed mushrooms were great as well. We had a few different pasta dishes; all excellent, the pasta was cooked perfectly, the taste all around was just perfect. I specifically had the Chicken Bella Bocca which is one of the best dishes I've ever had. The experience was so good, we actually returned the following night for takeout since we were craving pizza, the pizza was excellent as well. Highly recommended restaurant. Just felt compelled to write a review for Demainos as we have been by many times and never knew it was here! Outside on the wall of the restaurant is a banner celebrating 93 years of service. The interior is cute and clean not too huge, but big enough to accomodate a decent size crowd. We stopped in around 1PM on a Wednesday afternoon for the first time and ordered some drinks A Martini for the wife and an Old fashioned for myself. Both delicious and well made. Ordered some crabcakes which were very nice and crispy. For entrees, I got the Steak tips and sausage and potatoes and my wife ordered the Beef Bracciole with angel hair and side Escarole soup and garden salad. Bracciole is relatively rare to see on most menus these days, and it was genuinely home made with a big delicious egg in the middle of it! Just like home made. The quality of the food is incredible at these prices. In my opinion better than most places in the North End. More akin to how we would cook at home. The tips were cooked perfectly medium rare and the sausage was delicious it was served with roasted potatoes which were delicious as well. The portions are huge, the service was fast and friendly. Just have to give a shoutout to our Bartender/server Karen. She was wonderful and we will most definitely be back. The parking is very limited so go early (Karen's recommendation). I can't believe we drove past so many times and I'd never even saw the place! My advice is slow down and look around, sometimes you may be passing by a true neighborhood gem! read more

There's just something about this place. I've been coming here since I was a kid so yeah I might be a little biased but JUDGE ME I don't care. No frills old school Italian joint in the heart of Revere. Salad with every entrée and some good old Keno to just bring ya back in time. She spoke loudly across the restaurant that she had the right order in and essentially called one of our party members a liar. Quite rude and unacceptable service. At first glance or drive by it looks like a cute, family run, good eats, Italian place. That's if you never enter the place. The first step in the door and it wreaked like piss. My dad informed me that's an over washed, old rug smell.. I could kind of maybe see that.. but there were no rugs. The bar looked decent and had a few nice TVs, they could have invested that money however in a closet door for the womens room which was falling down, unhinged. We had a function area which was large enough for the amount of people we had going. Our servers were friendly and attentive and they were the only nice thing in the place. The food, not good. The place was dirty and old looking, not even rustic looking, just dirty-old. The tables were crumb covered and had crusted drink cup rings.. really unacceptable.
