The manicures are just basic. It doesn't matter who does it either the nails are crooked the nail polish is put on too thick or the tech is coughing in your face while doing your nails. But what happened most recently was the most alarming. After the hurricane I decided to treat myself to a pedicure they waited till after I was done to tell me their machine was down. I had an appointment right after so i went to bank of America and I pulled out More than enough cash that would cover the service and about a 25% tip. When I got back, I gave the short older woman the cash and didn't think anything of it. I did tell her I was moving, so maybe she thought that was the opportunity to steal, but I end up showing back up for one last pedicure and when she saw me, it looked like she saw a ghost. After my service was finished. The owner came up to me, adding the cost of my last service with my present service and I told her I paid and I pointed to the lady I gave the money too. Once she realized what happened she apologized. She stole the money and said I never paid how disgusting! That was my last time in that establishment, but I would not recommend a dishonest Place.

I walked in and only one other patron was finishing up with her manicure so they took me immediately. I was impressed that they gave me a beautiful drape for my lap because I was wearing a skirt. I've been given a towel before by other salons but never a specially embroidered drape. This is definitely a nice touch. I asked for a gel pedicure and (listen, I know you're not supposed to do this but I have a medical condition that makes my nails not grow) acrylic on my two big toes. I did not catch my service provider's name but she was very gentle and I enjoyed my service. She fixed me right up and made my weird toes took beautiful. I will definitely return. I paid $65 plus tip which included the pedicure with gel and acrylic on two toes. I would have upgraded if it was offered but it was late and we finished exactly at 7:00PM as they were closing so I wanted to respect their time. I'm mentioning this because I believe I received the basic package plus my add-ons. Either way, I am very satisfied.

Avalon is located only a mile from my workplace so I decided to give them a try. I've heard great things about them from a few friends too. My favorite part about my visit here were that I was a walk-in and they were able to accommodate me right away. The host/woman at the desk was friendly and had me pick out my nail colors. I selected a dark blue and glitter (galaxy, ya know?!) and had a seat. The nail technician (I want to say her name was Sarah) wasn't very talkative and got to work immediately. My other favorite thing about this visit is that she was quick! I loved being able to walk through the doors, get my nails done and leave in 30 minutes. So awesome. My nails look great too! My only complaint is that the nail technicians work space was super dirty. It had dust particles all over it which was making my hands itchy. It just felt dirty. Next time, if this happens, I'll be sure to speak up and ask her to wipe the space first. I was pleased with my $30 bill, which after a tip was $36. That's almost $10 less than I was paying at my former nail salon.

When I called the salon to express my concerns.I was specifically complaining about a stylist named Donna. According to her salon bio, she recently moved from Chicago. Less than 24 hours after making that complaint, I received a text message from an unknown Chicago-area phone number calling me names. The timing was concerning enough that I felt it should be reported to the salon. I did not feel that concern was taken seriously. I was told that someone would contact me regarding my complaint, but I was left waiting without any meaningful response. At this point, I was seeking a refund because I am deeply dissatisfied with the haircut itself, upset by the way my concerns have been handled, and troubled by the harassing message I received after reporting my experience. When my calls were not being returned, I called again for a third time and at that time was told that Donna is the owner of the business and would never do such a thing. My initial complaint was regarding my haircut. I have fine hair, and throughout my appointment the stylist described what she was doing as adding "movement" to my hair. At no point did I understand that significant debulking was being done. That is not something I would have requested. The result is that my hair feels much thinner than before, and I have not been able to find a way to style it that I feel good about. Another concern is that my hair was not blow-dried at the end of the service. It wasn't until I went home, washed it myself, and blow-dried it that I was able to fully see the haircut and notice the issues I have with it. Looking at it styled properly only made me more upset with the final result. Now this situation is much larger and I am still hoping for a full refund for the service.
