My dress experience was decent. I will say, it didn't feel like the "dream dress experience." You…read moredon't get champagne or a very luxury feeling. However, it's a nicer storefront and they have some great dress options. They have in house Seamtress - alterations on your dress is typically starting around $1,200 depending on what you change. I ordered one of their custom dresses that they created with a designer. I further customized my dress with adding a longer train to it and adding a slit. I will say I've seen variations of my dress online by other designers, but I think my quality dress appeared like it was better material. I felt like the customer service varied depending on who you got that day. Some people seemed more kind and tried their best to be accommodating and others seemed like they were just trying to be done for the day. I had around 3 fittings. I could bring 2 people with me each time. They have sample sales available and there's two locations for this company. Overall, if you want the dream dress experience this is not it. However, if you just want to buy your dress and you don't need all the extra bell and whistles (e.g champagne, back drops, private fittings) then this is a good choice. They packaged my dress, veil, and hair band nicely upon receiving everything and they provide a contract with most of the main details of your purchase. You have to pay for everything before you can take the dress (obviously). Overall, if I could do it all again I would probably go with another dress company. That's because I'm extra for the price I ended up paying in total which was around $7K I could've probably gone to a higher end bridal shop with more elevated experience. BUT they checked the boxes and accommodated most of my needs.

She is very kind, works with your schedule, and does stunning work. I had a last minute change to my dress (Went from sleeves to straps) and both Miriam and Ramya were so accommodating. And JUST our luck there was an appointment cancellation and she could fit us in the very next day! I got an email confirmation letting me know what to expect, how many people to bring, and the price ranges and sizes of the gowns. The day of the appointment I took two friends and Kate warmly greeted us and kept the champagne flowing the entire appointment! This was by far one of the most fun experiences I've had trying on clothes! Kate asked me questions about my preferences and immediately went to work pulling options for me. I was very fortunate that every dress I tried on fit me pretty well, making it easier to envision what the final look would be. (I'm around a size 4-6 on top and closer to an 8-10 on the bottom, but all the gowns were easily slipped over my head and fell over my hips.) Kate was so helpful offering alternatives when I said which parts of gowns I did and didn't like on me. And suggesting different fabrics to lower cost and be more beach-friendly (my wedding is going to be on a beach). The entire showroom is in the basement of a row house and is beautifully decorated and had plenty of light coming in, which was great for photos. A day after the appointment Kate followed up by email with the details of the dress I liked the most and the design alternations we talked about, letting me know if I was interested to schedule a follow up appointment to get measurements. I'm still in the phase of wanting to try on all the dresses, but I had such a wonderful experience and absolutely recommend this shop to any brides!

Before the fitting, the bride's measurements are taken, and she is given a fitted slip to wear under each dress. Every dress is pretty much ready to wear. No clips or tailoring is needed to create the perfect fit. Each dress easily slips over your head. The COVID-19 situation has proven to be a challenging time for everyone, but especially for small…read morebusinesses. I was introduced to Park's Dress Design and Alterations by a relative of mine, who has had some garments (blouses, dresses, pant suits, etc.) altered over the years. Mrs. Park (she also goes by Sunny) hemmed up a few of my dress slacks and corrected the sleeve lengths on one of my suits and I was pleased with the work. While the prices might be on the higher side as opposed to having these type of alterations done at a dry cleaner, Mrs. Park has had her tailoring business open in Fairfax County for over 25 years, so she must be doing something right. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has encountered challenges purchasing masks/face coverings during this COVID-19 pandemic. What makes things worse is all the conflicting information the public has been receiving on this topic. In late-February and early-March we were told face coverings "aren't effective" and "do more harm than good" so don't wear one. I was always a bit skeptical of this guidance since during my travels to Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, etc, face masks are very common. So once the "official" guidance was for folks to wear some sort of face covering, all of the masks at drug stores and on-line were sold out or available at exorbitant prices. On a whim, I called Mrs. Park to see if she had started to make any cloth masks, and luckily she had. Her business has experience a dramatic decline due to everyone staying home, but like many businesses, she's had to pivot to adjust to a changing market place. Kudos to her for being resourceful. She has a two main styles of masks to choose from in a variety of colors and patterns. What I like about these masks is there is a small metal piece that contours around the nose and two side slits for additional filtration. I find two small square pieces of trimmed paper towels work pretty well. These are also machine washable and I was told cold water works best. When i picked up my four masks for myself and family, there was a lady who was picking up seven for herself (one for each day). The masks are $15 each and while there are lots of patterns you can download off the Internet and plenty of "how to" tutorials on Youtube, it's worth it for me to just have a professional do it for me. Hours have been reduced during the pandemic, so I recommend calling first to see if she's open and if there are any masks to available for purchase.
