The appetizers were sweet and spicy edamame which was super good and the crispy rice which I've definitely had much better but this one was different with a truffle flavor that I liked. I recently ordered from this restaurant through Uber Eats, and overall, the food itself was great. Everything we received was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The delivery was also timely, and the food arrived at a good temperature. Ive been there before and inspite the loud music, the space is big. Unfortunately, our order was incomplete, and several items that we paid for were missing. I called the restaurant to see if they could help resolve the issue, but I was told to contact Uber Eats instead. While I understand that Uber Eats handles the delivery, the missing items were never included in the order by the restaurant in the first place. It was disappointing because the food we did receive was very good, it was salmon teriyaki that was great but customer service fell short when it came to addressing an issue that originated with the order preparation. I would order again because of the food quality, but I hope the restaurant takes more responsibility for ensuring orders are complete before they leave the kitchen. read more

After coming back to try this place after not eating here for literal years, the menu definitely had an upgrade but I think it's truly up to what you order that decides if it was for the better of the worse. You can never go wrong while ordering the edamame and the spicy sweet sauce they slapped on these defitniely elevated it to another level! I couldn't get enough of it! The jalapeño hamachi was also pretty damn good. The flavor profile of it all WAS SPOT ON! Not toooo sweet and not too spicy. The tang hit in every bite. Now for sushi, the rolls we got personally weren't the best in my opinion. The flavors were dull on one and completely over saturated on the other one. Kinda upsetting but aye what are you gonna do? Honestly i am not one to complain about much, but if you are paying for a certain level Of service and food you expect to get just that. We ordered a lobster tempura appetizer which was hard, rubbery and the meat was dark gray, which lobster should never be. We ate a piece but thought it was gross and when we brought it to the waiters attention he said ok no problem do I take it away? i said yes because we are not going to eat it. When the bill came the charge was still there and the waiter told us that the manager was not going to credit us and basically with the "you have to live with it" attitude. This sushi spot was AMAZING. The truffle pasta was my absolute favorite thing. It was so creamy, perfect amount, it was beyond delicious. I would come over and over just for the truffle noodles. We ordered delivery and when the driver was walking towards my house the bag broke from the bottom and the food fell out. The Uber driver stated that she told the girl at the hostess stand when she handed over it to her but she did not pay any attention to her. We called the restaurant and the girl that answered the phone said that it was not their fault and to take it up with Uber and she hung up. 8/3/2023: It's my birthday!!! My awesome colleagues, current and former, took me out for a lovely birthday lunch. Two thing I love is pasta and sushi and since I had pasta the other day, it was time for my other favorite. I only knew of Sokai because of these lovely ladies so was ready to come back to the quiet and delicious ambiance of sushi rolls. Yalili was our Server and she was very patient as we caught up and reviewed the menu. She explained the lunch specials and we all decided to get the 2 sushi rolls for $32. I for the EBI tempura special rolls and the Miami rolls. Both were so delicious. Some of the ladies also got the EBI while some for others that we all went around the table trying. Crazy find. On Google it's 4.8 on Yelp it's 3.5. So count me skeptical. It's also in the middle of nowhere. So I'm not expecting much. Turns out this is the best sushi in Miami. Better than Naoe. Better than Zuma. Better than Nobu. The best roll was the tartare roll. $28. No rice. Just tons of high grade tuna in a spicy crunchy sweet sauce that blew our minds. Total new experience. 11/10. The Truffle Avacado Salmon row was a culinary revolution. I've never had two roles that were so completely different. This was Smokey and Umami turned up to 11. Also 11/10. We had a third role that was very delicate and good (gabby) but didn't have the revolutionary feel of the other two. But it was part of a 2 rolls for $32 (with the salmon truffle guac roll). So price wise it's great. We also had this spicy edamame in a gochujang bbq sauce. Absolutely addictive. Salmon Tacos were the best I ever had. Only thing we regretted were the tuna tacos. Okay.... So I've been several times already and what I've realized is the service and food is a little inconsistent. The last time I went, the server was very rude. It felt like she was annoyed to even be there. We accidentally ordered the wrong dish and she didn't offer to exchange it or remove it from the bill, absolutely not. Tucked away in this urban retail section you'll find a surprise with Sokai. It looks very modest on the outside but once you set in, you'll see an elevated venue. The kitchen and bar and open. The layout is simple, efficient and esthetic. Most of the seating are tables but there are mixed booths and the bar as well. The menu is online and scan via QR code on the table. It is via extensive with photos. I actually suggest taking notes physically of what you like to make ordering a bit easier. Drinks are at the very bottom. A couple of suggestions are their house drinks. The sake mule was very fresh and a delight to drink. The red or white sangria can be ordered by the glass or bottle. If you get a glass you get a nice surprise of paleta inside. The fruit extra sweet being frozen and their was also carbonation or bubble essences to the paleta. For a quick appetizer go with edamae. It has a nice sauce on top of it with a hint a spice. Great was to eat edamae. For something more adventurous the sushi pizza is something unique. The crispy rice this is served on steals the show. Great texture, flavor and binds well with the rest of the ingredients. If you feel like rice there is sushi or fried rice dishes. And if you feel like different seafood you have ceviche with 5 or more options. If there's still room get the fluffy cheesecake. It comes with a side of strawberry ice cream with basil. The ice cream could almost be it's own dessert but with the cheesecake you have heaven. A little assuming from the outside but inside is different. The menu is truly extensive and it hits. My only regret was that I could not try more. But there's always next time. Oh there's also a few other locations in South Florida with the same menu! read more

The food and service are great here. I love the sangria to drink but they have some great cocktails too. The Japanese tacos are fresh and delicious. The pulpo isn't top tier, but we weren't expecting a fine dining experience so for what it's worth: it's not terrible but we wouldn't order it again. Too chewy. The brie temptation is so rich and packed with flavor. Very non-traditional but well worth the calories. The tuna tartare roll is also on brand with the tacos: refreshing and light. So good. Mango ceviche was good but the white fish didn't taste as fresh as the tuna does there. That may have been a temperature issue. It was a busy night when we had it. I might try it again. Mango tartare is DELICIOUS and also packing flavor. Overall this place has some great gems and it's affordable for what it offers. I wish the seating was more private as sometimes it feels overwhelming in there on a busy night. I will still go. All their desserts are delicious. I don't hate any of them. Win. read more

Came in on a Friday afternoon with a friend and got seated right away! The restaurant is a bit small but has the cutest decor which serve for great pictures! Our server was Ayelen and she was very attentive, thank you! I had the Lomo Saltado which was a 10/10. I want to preface that this is for the W Flagler street location. We've been wanting to try a Sokai location for a while, especially since their IG page is pretty fire. As we arrive, we get sat down pretty quickly. Only about 4-5 other tables being used. After about 15-20 minutes, we beg a server to please attend us because no ones looked our way. She waits on us, but makes sure to never speak above a whisper. We ask for recommendations, and she recommends the most expensive plates. Im just not a fan of paying $30 for a roll of sushi. Stars taken off for: 1. Service. Not even a little good. For example, the one guy server spent 45 minutes talking to his friends at one table, and literally told the hostess he didnt want any other tables. Ambiance: decor is nice, but because lack of care of service, we ended up with a couple practicaly sitting on top of our table. They were at a two-top, but decided they wanted to snuggle. Super fun while eating with my kid in a cramped space. Overpriced: Their sushi is yummy, but again, their acevichado roll isnt worth $30. An evening out with the girls and we came to check out Sokai Sushi Bar. I love that there's plenty of parking and the location is easy to find. We walked in and were greeted and sat right away. This place is ok. I've been here on 2 several occasions. The first time I sat alone at the bar and the bartender was really nice and attentive. The second time I came I sat as part of a large party on a Saturday afternoon when they were not busy. The server said they couldn't split the check but miraculously after us insisting, they did. I hate when places make a big stink about splitting checks. Tip was already included but that didn't stop the server from rolling her eyes once she saw we weren't leaving additional.
