Small but mighty. The restaurant is located in a shopping center it is a little small and if coming in a big group a reservation is suggested because of space purposes. They have a good amount of tables as well as floor seating to get a feel of traditional Japanese culture. To start we had a few appetizers to share. The edamame and fried dumplings which were both delicious. As our main meal we had a few delicious plates to try and they were all very good. Only plate that we had a suggestion for was the fish that was cut into very thick slices. Meh...and by meh, I mean...Meh...in every way. The decor is just...meh. Typical "look at me, I look Japanese" in Miami. The service was the bare minimum of hi, how are you, what do you want, and here you go. No pizzazz or anything memorable. Then the food. The food? Meh. I had actually arrived thinking that there was a happy hour or an all you can eat option, but neither existed, even after I researched online extensively, so that was a huge disappointment. I had to search hard to find rolls that weren't laid full of cream cheese, which, to me, essentially means "here is a roll with cream cheese to mask all of the icks flavors of the subpar fish that we are actually serving you and do not want you to be aware!" I ordered some nigiri, which tasted old, not fresh and on rice not treated correctly. Need I remind the YELP! Community??? Sushi is actually referring to the treatment of the sushi RICE and NOT the fish or ingredients on the nigiri or roll! So in this sense, Miyako Doral FAILED. I will admit, that this was one of the first sushi places that I had gone to when I first moved to Miami, not knowing the abysmal notion of what sushi is interpreted to mean here in south Florida. We've visited Miyako several times and always had a good experience, but tonight was very disappointing. We made a reservation for 9:30 PM, only to be told by the hostess upon arrival that she could not seat us because the restaurant closes at 10 PM. My concern is this: why allow reservations at 9:30 PM on your website if your operating hours end at 10 PM? When I questioned this, the hostess said she could seat us but would not be able to serve items like dessert once it was past 10 PM. I've never encountered such a policy before. If this truly reflects your operating procedures, I strongly urge you to update your posted hours to close at 9 PM. That way, guests don't waste their time making late reservations and driving to your location only to be turned away. We will not be back. read more

This was our first visit. We loved the menu, great selection of sushi and a lot with a Peruvian twist. Two of our favorite foods! For appetizer we tried a tiradito. The fish was very fresh and it tasted more like a ceviche because of the sauce. We had the Ocean Pearls, it was delicious. The scallops perfectly seared on top of Peruvian Causa and a side of rice (we had the fried rice). We also tried the Oboko roll, it was very good and very large! In my opinion, both my boyfriend and I thought the ramen was very veryyy salty, too salty at that. The broth was drenched in salt, it was almost inedible. The noodles were way too thin, not like the authentic ramen we've had elsewhere. I barely touched my $18 entree and left hungry if im being honest. If youre looking for good ramen, look somewhere else. Other than that, the restaruant was clean, there was a lot of parking. The dinners vibes were good, lights were dimmed, they even have japanese-styled booths. Our waitress was nice, nothing out of this world. I like that they have pictures on their online menus so you know what everything looks like. The Sashimi wasn't cut all the way through which I don't like. I would have preferred thinner cuts but that's just my preference. The salmon and the tuna were fresh. The nigiri: unagi was tasty, hotate didn't really taste like anything, salmon was tasty, hamachi and the amaebi was chewy, tuna was tasty. The skyroll wasn't bad and not spicy. Although not an official item on the menu, it is up-and-coming. Crispy Duck breast with mashed potatoes and a citrus sauce will make your taste buds extremely happy. We actually came for the Joto x Miyako tuna cutting event and had an excellent time. First time ever being at Miyako and would definitely be back. The space was beautiful, the service was phenomenal and the fish was fresh, delicious and served in unique ways that kept you wanting more. The ONLY reason I gave a four instead of five is because the service between bites was way too long. We had to sit and wait for each dish. I genuinely don't understand how Miyako Sushi is still open because this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The food tasted unbelievably fishy in the worst possible way, like it was nowhere near fresh, and every roll was bland, sloppy, and honestly disgusting. As someone who eats sushi regularly, this was one of the most disappointing sushi experiences I've had. The mojito was loaded with so much lime, half a lime, that it was almost undrinkable. The smoked salmon roll arrived cold and covered in an overly sweet sauce that completely ruined the flavor of the fish. One of the rice-less rolls was also unexpectedly sweet, despite there being no indication of that on the menu. The final straw was the nigiri. The rice was undercooked, which is unacceptable at a restaurant that charges premium prices for sushi. The nigiri also had a slimy texture. To make matters worse, nigiri isn't even listed on the menu. For the prices Miyako charges, the quality should be much better. I've honestly had better sushi at Sushi Sake for a fraction of the cost. Expensive doesn't automatically mean good, and this place is proof of that. read more

My wife and I went to Miyako Doral for Diner on Saturday, April/18 at 19:00. The service was just ok, and the food was with all respect 1/5. Fried calamari was overcooked and hard to chew. I mentioned that to our waitress and she brushed it off saying that she heard that before. How is that so? She did not try to diffuse the situation, or at least offer something else. It did not happen. Crispy rice was just ok. We had it before at Korner67 in Main Street(Miami lakes). It is definitely much much better than yours. I was afraid to order a main course I went for dumpling, one fried and one steamed. We were not impressed. Espresso martini, you call it anything you want, but a Martini. I did not know this place existed! Let me rephrase that, I've passed by it several times without knowing it was there. And it was Yelp that helped me discover this popular and well-known spot several sushi dishes. I did take a risk here by not ordering sushi from the menu. I decided to go with the ramen soup since I was in the mood for ramen and it was a little underwhelming and not as salty which I really appreciate but the flavors were absolutely lacking. Another reason why I decided to go for the unusual selection here is because I did order an appetizer of the rocoto shrimp which was presented inside wonton chips and greens which was pretty cool and new to me to try out. I did find the lettuce to be quite dry but adding just a little bit of soy sauce dressing made it amazing, it was the missing component in an already amazing dish. Food was great! The best calamari I have had!!!! The breading was perfect! The ambiance is lovely. Quiet and quaint. I loved the little tables to the side where you sit on an elevated floor. We didnt sit there but I will definitely sit next time I go. I will say, when we went there were not many people and we were not greeted for a while when we sat. Miyako Doral is a solid spot that ranks high on my takeout rotation. When I'm craving sushi it's usually chirashi or some sort of sashimi, and the chirashi from Miyako is excellent. It's always fresh with a huge portion of fish. More recently I tried the sashimi salad which has salmon, tuna, and avocado. It comes with ginger dressing and is pretty big. I couldn't finish mine, and kept leftovers for lunch the next day. I also ordered a JB roll which was BOGO on UberEats and a miso soup. Will definitely continue to order from them! read more

Miyako Sushi (shrimp tempura) was outstanding! The yellowtail snapper was not. Yellowtail is usually a very tender, juicy & white fish. This was none of the above. This spot is certainly a hidden gem! My friend recently ordered some bites for delivery and wow was I surprised by the quality and flavors Miyako had to offer. To start, I'll say their tuna tartare is a must. The portion, the offering the flavors wow 5 stars for that on its own. Loaded with tuna, cucumber, scallions, sesame oil and blue corn chips on the side it can definitely serve as your entire meal -- it's so filling and delicious! We ordered a few sushi rolls and tiraditos too and they were all filled with flavors. From the protein roll to the Miyako roll we were left fighting for the last bites in each! Not a good experience at all. I didn't have high expectations but it was worse than my low expectation. Comes with sashimi--salmon, tuna, and I believe hamachi. Salmon was decent. Tuna was edible at best. The white fish was detestable. absolutely horrid. The texture was as if you chewed a piece of dish sponge, and the flavor was of that same sponge if you had just scrubbed months old, rancid fish with it. So obviously NOT fresh. Of course I don't expect freshly caught day old sashimi here, but this was was surprisingly bad. I think they may use the older sashimi for the lunch specials to get rid of it. California roll was 95% rice, hard to mess that up but they did somehow. Only redeeming factor of this meal was the tempura.
