The place was decent and the person who did my wax( don't recall her name) was very gentle and did an amazing job. She worked past the closing time to accommodate my last min request. My daughter was given a $120 gift certificate for her birthday to include a hair cut and acrylic nails and pedicure. We priced this on line and she should have had $12 left over according to their prices on Internet. Well... She was nickel and dimed to the full value of the gift certificate, was it because she was a kid, I would assume so. Within a few hours the nails had issues. One fell off within three hours and within days she had two remaining. We wanted either her money back or a re- do. They refused both, first was explained that her nails could be oily and not hold the nail, well that would be something a nail technician should be able to tell, not a 16 year old. Then the manager said that she could refill, being it was about two weeks. We're they not listening, as I held up her hands, there are no nails left to refill. The managers voice was echoed by about 5 other employees with hidden comments under their breath and unprofessional gestures. Bottom line, they would not stand behind there work. Her nails were different shapes, cut unevenly, and because of a lack of knowledge by the technician of what to do, they fell off and they ripped off a 16 year old. They have no policy stating when you have to come back if you are not satisfied and just lack of customer care. I and we will never do business with solace of South Riding and by the looks of it, we aren't the first ones to experience unprofessional service. I've been to this spa several times and have to say every service I've gotten done was great. The problem I have is with the manager John and week day receptionist Katlin (or some name like that). I coordinated a bridal shower at the spa for 15 people (all new customers), we were there for hours and I'm sure the spa did really well considering most girls had multiple treatments. I booked the party a month in advance, it was a good thing I went into the spa to book because this many appointments at once were just way too much for Katlin to handle which is surprising since her only duty is to answer the phone and book appointments. At the party the spa split the referral credits between me and bride. When we went to use them all the credits had been erased from their system because they had recently switched systems. After jumping through hoops with Katlin she finally redeemed the credits. Katlin reassured the bride and I several times we could use all of our credits at once. We show up on the weekend to use the credits and after our treatments we're told we have to pay out of pocket and can only use 1 $15 credit each. Since it was the weekend the weekend receptionist was there not Katlin so we couldn't confirm everything that happened. The weekend receptionist called the manager John, who has to be the most worthless person I have ever encountered. He has no customer service skills or basic reasoning skills. We explained the situation to him, that the bride lived over an hour away, all the business we brought his spa, and Katlin's guarantees. All he could say was that he was sorry. He didn't even answer the most basic of questions and just kept repeating that he was sorry. After spending 30 minutes arguing with John he finally gave us the credit. The last thing you want to do after going to the spa is argue, its suppose to be a relaxing experience. I will never return or recommend this spa to anyone. read more

This is my salon for hair, nails and occasional massage. Everyone who works there is very good at what they do and is extremely lovely. The problem seems to be a failure of management. The hair basins are frequently broken. Little things seem to take forever to be fixed. I used to love a hot green tea, but now I need to take my own as for two weeks because it has not been purchased. It is bad when customers are discussing this. *****Terrible Experience**** Humaira Farighi, hair and make up artist at the (Chantilly, VA location), did my hair today. I left Solace Day spa in tears. She messed up my hair badly. I asked her to lighten my base color and to do a honey blonde ombré. After she rushed to do my hair, I explained to her I was not happy with it and she refused to fix it saying that's what I wanted. She said if I wanted her to add more color I would have to come in on Tuesday or Saturday. I am now left with dark brown hair and sloppily placed chunky caramel highlights. My appointment was at 9:00AM. I showed up early and sat in my car. I was super excited as this was my day to relax and I don't do that often as a mother of two (one only two months old). The hair stylist didn't show up to work until 9:20AM. I scheduled this appointment a week in advance. Therefore, I assume she had notice she had an early appointment Saturday. Not only was she late, she told me she was asleep when Mary at the front desk called her to remind her of her appointment. She then proceeded to tell me she was late because she went to a wedding the night before and had not gone to bed until 3AM. She was watching shows after she got home and couldn't sleep. She said she was aware she had to get up early for work the next day. read more

Horrible experience with a hairdresser!! Turned my hair purple, went back to Have corrected and she turned it bleach blonde with orange streaks! Would NOT recommend this place for color. My boyfriend and I really enjoy getting pedicures together once a month as a treat. There is one girl that normally works the front desk who is really nice but the last couple times I went the girl in the front didn't look to happy to be there and at one point even took a little nap at the front desk. I understand everyone has their days because I work in a spa as well but the customer should never see that. They always do a great job with my polish and the reflexology messages are great but the last time I went I felt rushed like they had somewhere to be and the woman doing my boyfriends feet was ON HER PHONE!! I couldn't believe that. Even the woman next to us looked perplexed. Again, I understand things come up and sometimes you need to use your phone but customers shouldn't see it and it definitely shouldn't be while you are working on someone. It's a little pricey but I continue to go because I trust their tools are clean and it is a lovely location and setting. As far as the messages, I got the couples package. The man doing mine did an AWESOME job but the woman giving my boyfriend his message kept making a lot of noise so it was hard to relax. But again the gentlemen doing mine was great! read more

The absolute ONLY reason I would have given Solace a lower rating would be the price. It is high but for the community it is located in, it makes sense why they charge more. They can also charge more because they rock at what they do! I have gone here for EVERYTHING and always loved the service! I've had my hair cut and dyed multiple times and it always looks amazing. (And have considering walking there in the mornings just to have my hair washed...) Mani/pedis always fun and look great. Had my eyebrows waxed a few times there and love that they don't go too skinny. (I've had folks do the pencil thin look on me before and it doesn't look right!) And I go back all the time for massages!!! Love them!!! Aches and pains melt away. Then you have use of a shower and steam room if you'd like, it's great! (Be warned however, if you choose a deep tissue massage THEY GO DEEP (hence the name) It hurts so good but be prepared, it hurts.) I recently moved to SR, and this was my first time getting my hair cut by someone who was not my regular hair girl from back home. I do not remember the woman's name who cut my hair, because she never introduced herself, nor did the receptionist give me her name. All I simply got was a trim. Nothing fancy or intricate. $60 for a trim! It wasn't even a good trim. She did not talk to me at all while doing my hair. And upon paying, I was never asked if I needed any hair product to buy, nor was I asked for a follow-up appointment or anything. The receptionist didn't even tell me how much I owed, she just put her hand out for my payment. No one said thank you, or even attempted to leave me with a good feeling of the place as I left. After a 15 hrs flight my lower back was killing me , I needed a massage badly , all the regular places were booked so I had to go to Solace. I have been there many times for facial and pedicure but never for massage. As soon as the massage started, I knew it will be a terrible one , first her hand was too cold and so was the cream she was using. I told her , she said she didn't have enough time to warm it up! Then she started the massage. I asked for Swedish with firm pressure concentrating on my lower back , but she started with my neck. I don't know what kind of massage she was doing, I get plenty of massages, so I would know! She kept massaging my neck and using way too much cream, and then wiped my neck with a cold towel !! I had to ask her again to concentrate on my lower back , she did that for a few minutes and then again back to my neck, and again the cold towel! I asked her not to do that because it was freezing. This was pretty much what it was for the rest of the massage! After the massage, I complained to the front desk , they told me to talk to the owner , I called the owner, left a message, and have not got a call back yet! I have to write this review because, I had a really bad experience, my husband purchase a gift certificate paying the signature pedicure and manicure as my Mother's Day present, I invited my best friend to come along and enjoy a nice day for the both of us. The ladies that helped us did a poor job, I had to remind them that we had paid for the signature treatment, and they didn't even offer any kind of beverage; 3 lovely withe ladies walked in and the manicurist ladies approached them with a glass of champagne wich is great, so I asked if it was a special price for that kind of treatment, and she answered "no, is for all costumers, we have withe and red wine as well" so I said how come you haven't offer us anything... Do NOT come to this place. They are unprofessional and have very poor customer service. I got a root touch up from here a couple of months ago and the lady who did my root touch up ran the color through my entire hair and covered all my highlights. I couldn't tell right away because my hair was wet but after I got home and realized that all my highlights were ruined and covered I called right away. I was told to come in so the lady (I guess senior hair stylist) could have a look. I showed her my before pictures and she agreed that my highlights had been completely covered but she gave me the option of having the same person "fix" my hair. Why would I go to the same woman that doesn't even know how to do a root up to get it fixed!!!!i refused to go to the same woman and I was told that if she fixed my hair she would charge me!! I asked to see the manager and was told the manager would call me in a day or 2 and it's been 2 months!!! No call and no apology. I had an appointment with a hair stylist today and 2 hours earlier, they called me to say that my hair stylist had an emergency and couldn't take me. They told me I could reschedule or another hair stylist could take me. I stated that I had already agreed on a hair color/ price the day before during my haircut (with the first hairdresser- my first time at that salon) and perhaps I should reschedule to another day. They told me that my hair stylist had already spoken with this other hair stylist and would honor the price and the new hair stylist knew all the details discussed the day before. I agreed to go with the new hair stylist. When I arrived, the new hair stylist did not honor the agreed price (despite the person on the phone saying it was all agreed upon and it would be no problem) and quoted me three times more the original hair dresser. First experience was disappointing. I received a gift certificate for a massage while I was undergoing chemotherapy so I thought I would try it out for relaxation. When I walked in early for my appointment time, the receptionist told me I was mistaken and came on the wrong day. After looking through her computer (while I was stressed out that I was wrong) she started laughing and said she was "looking at the the wrong day..hahaha". Guess it was funny to her. I was asked to sit and fill out a form. After that 10 minute wait (receptionist on phone the whole time) I was informed that they had booked me with someone who was off that day! They asked if I could come back after they called someone to come in and do the massage. Well, now I am really stressed hoping I can switch my schedule to accommodate the person driving in on their day off. And I haven't even started my massage! I did come back later because it was the only good day for me. The massage therapist asked if I wanted a more expensive hot stone massage while I was laying on the table waiting to start. I said no thank you. He did not speak clear English and I ended up getting a deep tissue massage and not a relaxation massage as I wanted. I walked out at the end, with no apology for the fiasco at the start AND they charged me $10 extra on top of my gift certificate for the service. Avoid for customer service and massage. read more

I bought my girlfriend a gift card for Valentine's Day thinking it was just a simple get your nails painted and go kind of place.. I was shocked at how much they had to offer here! Not only do the offer nails, massages, and hair, but they also have a lot to choose from from each category. It took me so long to pick out what I think she would like, but the receptionist was very kind and answered all my questions or got up to get them answered for me. I wasn't there when my girlfriend got her nails done, but when she got home she wouldn't stop talking about how kind the ladies were and how everyone was very friendly and engaged in conversation with her (she's a bit talkative). We both think her nails look great and she was actually looking for a certain color that had just came out and was very excited to see that they had it. I've been going to Solace since they opened. Always completely satisfied with both my pedicures and hair cuts by Brittany. Yesterday my two daughters and I went for pedicures and one was getting a mani too. We made our appointments three days in advance. That was pointless. When we arrived, they didn't have anyone to do my pedi so they had some guy from the back come out to do mine. He was absolutely worthless. Without a doubt the worst pedicure I have ever had. My 10 year old granddaughter does a better pedi. I could go on and on explaining how lousy my experience was, but it would take more space that this review would allow, besides, I get so annoyed when I even think about it. Bottom line, appointments mean nothing and if they bring out a male to do your service, refuse it. Total waste of money and time. I still need a pedicure.
