My girlfriends and I got together for bunch the other day. One of the friends suggested this place for the bottomless mimosas and nice ambiance for us to visit. Two of the three wanted mimosas while I was not drinking. At first I was told that the whole table had to participate in getting mimosas. I expressed that I wasn't interested in drinking and I would like to opt out. How to you force alcohol on someone? Anyhow the server asked the manager if I could opt out and they agreed. I questioned their policy and their lack of trust in their customers ripping them off trying to share mimosas for the entire table. Anyhow I let them know I was not planning to rip them off and drink my friend's drinks. One gal came over to the table and asked me if I was sharing with my friends. I said, "sharing what, the drinks..no". Never ever have been questioned on something like this. I'm not a cheap ass and if I wanted to have bottomless mimosas I would had bought my own. I suggest you reconsider your policy it is very off putting. If you been ripped off before then find another solution and don't place the requirement as a result of a few who may have taken advantage of you. read more

We went to Solano Junction for dinner a couple of days ago. We ordered the roasted asparagus salad, the pea soup, a mixed greens salad, the lamb shoulder, red wine, and the crème brûlée for dessert. Everything was fabulous! If I were to make a recommendation to the owners, it would be to heat up the plates before serving, and to give regular unsalted (or salted) butter with the bread. (Rather than the citrus butter we received, which was a bit too sweet for our taste.) I would recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a local, friendly place in which to have a decent meal at a reasonable price. read more

I like this new incarnation. We've been fans of Sunnyside, then Sunnyside Up. I'd heard it had changed ownership and name. I noticed when I drove past yesterday that the name had changed on the building, so I looked it up. When I saw Victor G. had given them 4 stars I was ready to go. Unfortunately Eggs Benedict wouldn't travel well, so we'll have to wait for that until we're ready to eat there. Alan ordered last night online for lunch today. The website offered great flexibility, for which we were both very grateful. He ordered a BLT for me and added avocado, w/ salad as the side. For himself he ordered a turkey Reuben w/o sauerkraut since he's on a low salt diet, and sweet potato fries w/o salt. I picked the sandwiches up today a little after noon and was greeted w/ warmth and appreciation. I drove home and we had lunch. My sandwich was marvelous, the ingredients all fresh and flavorful, the avocado and tomato perfectly ripe, the bacon w/o any grease. It was a pleasure. The salad was equally fresh, and huge. Alan was less thrilled w/ his Reuben, although he acknowledged that it couldn't really be a Reuben w/o sauerkraut or w/ turkey, but he missed rye bread. The sweet potato fries were delicious and plentiful. He'll order something different next time, because he's very familiar w/ the menu and has favorites. As for me, I'm happy w/ what I had. I see on their website that they plan to open for dinner in the future. In the past there have been dinner popups sharing that space, one w/ a memorably fabulous roasted chicken. Came here on Sunday 8/29 at 930 am and luckily we were seated right away. There were available tables outside but preferred to be seated inside. First time grabbing food and here-- it was DELICIOUS! I got the corned beef hash and it had so much flavor. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly and the beef was cooked just right. My daughter got the sweet crepes-- and loved them-- and a side of bacon. I also had a wild berry mimosa and an OJ one after. The only thing my boyfriend and I struggled with was the music that took away from the morning calm grounding ambience we were hoping for to enjoy. would have loved jazz or classical music or something more mellow , not really dance/ top 40 ( Gangnam Style ) before 9 . Great brunch in Albany. The eggs Benedict looks like it's a favorite there, although I got the burger, other tables seemed to have been exclusively ordering the Benedict. There's indoor and out door seating and service is great. Waiters are super attentive, and one of the managers seems to be one of the primary people by the kitchen sending food out. Honestly a best-kept north Berkeley - Albany neighborhood secret, which shouldn't stay a secret for long! Solano Junction is EXCELLENT -- whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. These chefs know fine cuisine and delicious flavor! For dinner we had seared salmon with sesame red pepper miso glaze paired with wonderful couscous, kabocha and edamame, so tasty. My friend had braised lamb marinated in masala gravy, so tender and amazing. Salads beautiful and creative. Lila and Dev are dedicated, talented and love what they do. Golly this place is great. Their chorizo burrito was freaking FANTASTIC. One of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had, and I consider myself a burrito expert. The food took a little while, but they were busy, and it was WELL WORTH the wait. The house hot sauce--holy cow it was delicious, and had just the right amount of heat. Chaotic! We made a reservation to this place. We reached in time. We got sorted immediately inside. We came to know there was outside sitting available but they didn't inform on phone which we would have preferred. Menu handover was quick, ordered food in 5 minutes. After that we sitting hungry and waiting for 30 minutes to get food & in total 45 minutes since we got sitting. Made us cranky. People were really nice and friendly. Homemade sauce was beautiful. We had a perfectly wonderful experience for dinner here tonight. The food was well prepared and delicious, the presentation was exquisite, portions were generous, staff was attentive, and service was excellent. Cocktails were perfect. It felt very high end, without high end prices. Clearly the owners care a lot about making customers happy and satisfied. Looking at the breakfast and lunch menus, I wonder what the "three toppings" are in the create-your-own-omelet. PS It's an odd thing to see "these reviews aren't recommended" at the end of reviews here, as they tend to be appropriate. Maybe they're first-time reviews or suspect for some reason. I enjoyed reading them too. Dinner has only been served here for a couple of months so it's not crowded. I went to Solano Junction with my family for the first time today and was very impressed. Dave who I think is the owner, greeted me warmly while I waited for the rest of my party to arrive. He served me this nice Chamomile tea. I ordered the pigs in blankets with chicken apple sausage and a side of perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. The kid's version is called piggy in blanket, very cute, but just know instead of 2 pigs in blankets, it's just one. But it was still was a lot for my 5 year old, not complaining though. My sister ordered the make it yourself omelette with cheddar and spinach and roasted potatoes, which she loved and it looked great. My sister in law ordered the pancakes which were the same ones used in my pigs in blankets. The pancakes were large and fluffy and I had to keep adding syrup because they deliciously absorbed it.
