Ive given this solar roast a few chances now and they have messed up each time. 1st-I ordered an iced green chile white mocha and they gave me a Pueblo which is completely different. 2nd I asked for the same thing and didn't put any green chile syrup in it. 3rd-I asked for iced and she gave me a hot. 4th and final time-I noticed there were chunks of green chile in it. I asked what this was about and she said they didn't have any green chile syrup so she made her own with green chile. Trust me I love Pueblo green chile but not chunks of it in my coffee. If you're ever in Pueblo the solar roast down there is way better and have never messed up. Highly recommend. read more

grooviest place ever! came in for breakfast thinking it was a normal local cafe, but i was surprised to see dozens of books and vintage records for sale along the walls. the staff is friendly and easy going, and they have a playlist of all the coolest music playing at all times. i got a tomato eye opener and a london fog, both of which im really impressed by. the tomatoes are fresh and juicy, the bagels are some of the best you'll find in the Springs, and the tea has a lovely flavor. im definitely going to be a regular here read more

Horrible service! Open till 4pm but won't serve you after 3pm. Walked in 40 minutes before close. Not like 10. Person in front of us was told they could ONLY order espresso for coffee bc the employee shut down most of the machines already. That customer decided to go elsewhere. We get to the counter and attempt to order a simple bagel. The employee tells us she can no longer serve food since they close "soon." Solar roast should just close at 3 since they will refuse to make food or most drinks after that time but for some reason are open till 4. While I am happy that Solar Roast has returned from their unfortunate fire, I must take exception with what I see as an unreasonable price increase on their roasted coffee beans. Before the fire, they sold 5 pounds of roasted beans for $55. That was a wonderful deal but was for sure too low. Coffee prices over the last five years have increased roughly 20% so an increase was justified. However, they now sell that same 5 pounds of beans for $85, or from $11 per pound to $17 per pound. This is a 55% increase which I find completely unreasonable. There are far too many other options available at prices that are palatable. read more

Stopped in here to grab a coffee while exploring the downtown area. Perfect spot to grab a drink and keep moving through the surrounding shops, particularly the bookstore (separate review). Interior has giant murals splashed across the walls, outside has shaded seating, strong wifi available. I like that they have several specialty beverages here and ended up getting a hot nonfat white chocolate mocha that I really enjoyed. Service was quick, price was reasonable. I am honestly shocked at how rude the baristas were. I arrived with two small kids and we stood at the register for over ten minutes without being aknowledged. I finally politely asked the baristas where to order and was met with a rude response. When my five year old daughter politely asked for a water and thanked her, she did not get a response. Went not too long ago and ordered the lox bagel which is always what I order. I figure your workers have never been out in the real world since they look about high school age, but traditional lox bagels come with ONIONS, capers, smoked salmon, tomatoes, and the cream cheese spread. Therefore, I ask for onions everytime I get this bagel. This time I went in and ordered like normal. Lox bagel with onions. The girl then proceeded to ask me again if I wanted red onions and I said yes. She looks over to her coworker and laughs while I'm still standing there and goes "I know" implying it's going to be such a hassle for them to put the onions on. After I pay, the girl that took my order goes over to the girl making it and still continues to laugh and say that onions just "overpower" everything. Like I said you girls look like you're in high school still and this is your first job, however it's extremely unprofessional to speak poorly or joke about a paying customers order right in front of them. Just fyi they WERE open today, a sunday, before or around 11am, because i noticed yelp said closed. The woman who helped us was very kind and she almost had me at matcha, but i got a lemon bar instead. My husband got their zebra coffee, which is like mocha and white chocolate together, i think? Unfortunately he didnt find it any more special than simple coffee with milk. I tasted it and it was fine, but not very sweet. So he gave it to my dad, and my dad loved it. So who is to say?? Unfortunately the lemon bar, while good, tasted and smelled strongly of onion bagel. I assume they were all in the same case. So it kinda ruined the effect. I really love lemon bars. Not sure if these were vegan or anything, but if it was i definitely couldnt tell. The crust wasnt that buttery shortbread, more oats i think. I mean, i'd come back. Try something else. I am a visitor here in Colorado Springs, and I'm always scoping out unique and fun coffee shops. This place was exactly that! I chose it because it's the worlds first solar coffee roaster! The atmosphere was fun and interesting. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond to help us out. The lavender white mocha (I got mine with oatmilk) was delicious! Creamy and different, with the perfect balance of lavender and white mocha. Nothing was overpowering. I also got the tofu scramble burrito (ate it before I got a picture) and it was delicious! I love this place! it totally fits in with the downtown Colorado Springs vibe. It's on the perfect corner, right when you enter downtown, so there's usually parking or some close enough that walking isn't a big deal. Or for tourists, it's a great place to start your walk down Tejon, gather with friends here first and have a delicious latte or yummy granita. I love the lavender latte with almond milk, or the four berry granita. there is seating inside and out, although it is minimal.
