Derald, our sales rep, was great! If we could just rate him, he would be a 10. He is super professional, honest, considerate and willing to go the extra mile to ensure all of our questions were answered. Solar Sesame services were, unfortunately, quite expensive. When moving into the contracts and calculating the final numbers, it just didn't make sense to move forward. In a last ditch effort to save the deal, another sales rep came out to see if he can change our minds and arrived smelling like weed and unannounced. We refused service and moving forward with the contract and had to chase down the appropriate person to get things officially cancelled. The last person they contacted us apologized for our tail end experience and offered to send a gift card but never pulled through. All in all, we are glad to have met Derald and to confirm there are still nice people around but the overall experience with the business was not the best. read more

Dan and Carrie sat with us and figured out how to get us exactly the solar system we wanted (Q-Cell panels and batteries, purchased up front). This went smoothly. The install crew then installed the panels on the roof quite quickly and efficiently. It's worth noting that this is the only part of the project which they were contractually obligated to get done in a timely manner. What followed next was the installation of the battery system and power electronics, and the effort to get those systems inspected and cleared to operate by the city of Hayward and PG&E. Due to a series of mistakes by SolarSesame, combined with poor availability from the inspectors, this part of the install took about six months. I did not get the impression that SolarSesame put their best foot forward during this part of the install, as they were not contractually obligated to get it working quickly. However, once I posted a 1-star review, I suddenly got far better support. If you go with these guys, then I would recommend negotiating additional wording in your contract to put a deadline on this phase of the install. To highlight a few key mistakes that SolarSesame could learn from: 1. They did not install the equipment in the location that we agreed upon when signing the contract. This resulted in the equipment being installed in a location that was not to code, which resulted in a failed inspection and additional work and cosmetic damage to the exterior of my house while moving the equipment to the proper location. 2. They often scheduled inspections for the same day on which they planned to finish a job. This left them little buffer time in case of something unexpected coming up, which inevitably did, causing further delays. Ideally, they should have done the work prior to the inspection, with plenty of time to spare. 3. They didn't verify that the system was actually functioning correctly before declaring the job done and handing it over to me. Subsequent fixes were required. Andrew did a great job diagnosing this and solving the issue promptly. When I was able to contact her via text, Mei was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout this process, and always seemed to know what was going on and what had to happen next. However, I would occasionally get other people responding who were more apologetic, but less helpful. The overall impression was of a disorganized company with poor processes in place, which has overextended itself by taking on more customers than it has the workforce to follow through on. At the end of the six months, our solar system is working as advertised. The work appears to be of good quality, and once you manage to get routed through to the right person you need to talk to, it is possible to get decent support. I would recommend them to anyone who is savvy, willing to read and negotiate the contract, and use 1-star reviews as necessary to get results. However, you might want to get a few quotes and compare the timelines of the installs specifically, as other companies may be able to commit to a real delivery schedule. read more

where do I even begin. My experience with Sesame Solar (Kristin Zuppan And Alonte). On March 8, 2024, I signed an agreement with a third-party company, Solar Sesame, which was representing Sun Power. At that time, I was promised an incentive for signing up. Initially, I was informed that I would receive the incentive immediately after signing the agreement. Subsequently, I was told it would be provided after the inspection passed, which did happen. Later, I was advised it would be issued once the panels were activated. Unfortunately, it took five months for the panels to finally become operational, primarily due to Sun Power's ongoing bankruptcy issues. During this period, I was billed for non-functioning panels, which was particularly burdensome given the high PG&E costs during extreme weather conditions. I was caught in a frustrating cycle of communication with Sun Power, and despite my panels now working, Sesame has refused to honor the incentive that was promised. I feel misled and scammed throughout this process. I urgently seek assistance in obtaining the incentive so I can bring my Sun Power account current. It has been extremely challenging to manage high PG&E bills alongside a solar bill for a system that was not functional. I would like to understand why Sun Power and Sesame continued to accept new clients despite their financial difficulties. This entire experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. I have a system that took almost a year to get installed by solar Sesame and not it has been since October that it has been installed. As of 3-7-25 They have yet gotten a PTO (permission turn on) from PG&E due the some disign issue. It seems our KVA is too large for the transformer to handle. Solar Sesame has known this since 2-11-25. They have not done anything since that date according to PG&E. What a mess this company is in. read more

I got my solar panels installed in Nov 2023, which took more than 6 months after the contract signing in March 2023 with Solar Sesame. They installed the panels in June 2023, but it failed inspection many times and took months to get the approval. During this time, I have referred 3 of my community friends and they have referred a few of their friends and family members(almost 8 families got the panels from this guy). We all worked with Michael Quintero and he promised to give $1000 for each referral, neither of us received any referral bonus(except $500, only I received it). We have followed up with Mike many times until recently, he mentioned that he is not with the company anymore. Every time, we reached out to him he said he would take a look at it, but no response after that. You might see $525 as part of the referral, but that was for the refund they provided for the 6 months they charged with solar not being operated(they charged me for 6 months when solar power is not on, but they refunded it). We feel betrayed and foolish to trust this guy. Do not trust any referral program they are offering. read more

LIARS, LIARS, LIARS, Avoid this company like the plague! It took 10 months to get my solar working. There's thousands of dollars in damage to my home from their contractors and we are forced to go through our insurance company to get our home repaired. The rain gutters are rippled and bent from the ladder that was leaned against them, The whole electrical panel had to be replaced due to crossing the bus bar and causing an explosion. Our city inspector said this was a fire hazard. I could go on and on with the empty promises and lies. This company is all lip service and no action. I had a zoom consultation with Manan and he confirmed everything I pretty much already knew because of my extensive research. My home is 75 years old and the breaker box needed to be replaced.
