A slice of cake was $8, but it is 4 layers so I guess that can justify it some. 3 clusters of crabs is $45. Harbor Inn Seafood has very good food at reasonable prices. It also has a beautiful atmosphere in the Dining Room with the ceiling painted like the sky and seagulls suspended in the air. There is a beautiful mural on the back wall that is absolutely fabulous! I have mostly had their fried seafood which is always done right! The breading isn't too heavy and they ensure that the oil is hot enough so it's not greasy! Their ice tea is always spot on and NOT too weak or overstepped which causes an unpleasant bitterness. Good seafood but getting pricey. We have been coming here for years and the seafood is still good but the prices (comparable to another of our go to seafood spots ) are a lot more now. This is a nice, large place to visit with family and friends and groups as they have a lot of open space and parking. We tried something new this time...gator bites ... Vicki, Events Manager, and the staff really do a great job with large groups. Our church uses them once a year for a reunion type event and they never disappoint on scheduling the date, setting up our space, being so flexible when more people show up that we weren't expecting, to providing for dedicated team members to waitress the group solely, to being flexible with group menu selections to serving HOT food, quick service, and just going over and above to make our group event spectacular ! Have been coming here for decades. I love the calabash style seafood as i grew up eating it. This will always be my favorite seafood restaurant but i'm biased as a native Charlottean. We should've turned around when we saw how empty the parking lot was at lunchtime. We decided to give it a shot anyway. Once again once we got in the restaurant, we should've turned around because there was maybe six customers in the whole restaurant there was more employees than there was customers . I wasn't very impressed with the menu but again we decide to try it I asked for the seafood platter on the dinner menu, which was one of the most expensive meals there and was told that they gave you a lot of food. It was very good. Well, it came through on neither of those You ended up with like three of each little things and the fish tasted like it came straight from Food Lion and the frozen department. The other people that were with me got just regular seafood platter and it consist of two pieces of fish and not very large at that. Bottom line whoever runs this place must've never been to a true "" fish camp because this menu and the food put the name shame. I've never got so little for so much. Normally I give good reviews. I've only given two bad ones and this one has got to be topping the worst. The only saving grace for this restaurant were the servers. They were very nice not very knowledgeable but very nice. I, unfortunately, have to give this review knowing I'll never go back to this place again. Harbor Inn used to be a great mid-priced place to get some delicious food and be completely stuffed when you left. Well, first, my fiancé went to wash his hands in the restroom. There were no paper towels so he went to the front to just say excuse me, ma'am. The men's bathroom is out of paper towels. She just looked at him and was like ok. Didn't offer him a napkin or towel or say, thank you, I'll have someone take care of that. Moving on. I order an Arnold Palmer... when the waiter comes back, he brings back some type of dark soda. I'll assume it's a Coke. I let him know 2 more times that I asked for an Arnold Palmer. Never received it the entire meal. I ordered the fried pick 2 full dinner. Usually it's enough for two people. Instead I received the broiled meal. Because he had gotten my drink wrong, I kept it. So I was going to share it with my baby girl who doesn't eat much. It was barely enough for me!! I mean BARELY!! I was still hungry. So I ordered my daughter shrimp and hush puppies. He specifically asked me again, broiled or fried. I once again said fried! You wouldn't believe it, but he came back with BROILED!!! SMH! AT this point, I told my fiancé I'd talk to management up front. So I go upfront to tell the "manager" about my experience. She didn't care anything about my experience or the lack of proper service. She would not take off a percentage of the bill, claiming that it's a family owned restaurant so they don't take off anything on the bill. I run a one person business and if I mess up an order or do something wrong, I give refunds or offer to compensate in some way. Being a family owned business is NO excuse for terrible service. I ordered broil flounder and jumbo broiled shrimp, however I was very disappointed with the price - I paid $27 for one small piece of fish in about five pieces of shrimp and a baked potato. I was expecting more value for my money. There's a place called tides Inn in Greensboro. A large platter was maybe $21 and you get two large pieces of flounder and several jumbo shrimp. And also baked potato and salad. I think that harbour and should look at their prices and make them more reasonable especially in these days and times in this economy. Let me begin this review by saying that this is my first time trying Harbor Inn. But if you are a person who travels around South Carolina and Georgia then you will know that this place is a copycat version of Silver Bay Seafood in Simsonville South Carolina and Bay Breeze Seafood in Hampton Georgia. The only difference being that this restaurant doesn't have a tank inside the restaurant with baby sharks swimming in it. Good The food taste is good, ordered the 3 choice fried combo, chose flounder, sea scallops and fried clams. My son had the fried calamari appetizer and the seafood combo and our family member had the sirloin steak with French fries. All tasted good! The bad Unlike the chain restaurants that the owner is copying there are some disappointments. Calamari portion size is small and they sit it on a bed of lettuce to try and cover up the small portion. $20 for my 3 fried combo because I selected scallops and only had 7 scallops, an OK portion of fried clams and the smallest piece of flounder that I have ever seen. If your only going to give the customer one piece of fish please at least make sure that it is a large piece. Sent the small piece of flounder back out to sea and instead got the jumbo shrimp. And again it was a small portion size....they came out with 4 shrimp on a plate and it should have been at least 6. The other issue at this restaurant is that everything is an up charge. Unlike the chain restaurant that its copying where table side hush puppies are refilled for free this restaurant gives you one plate of hush puppies for free and after that if you want more you have to pay. Don't want coleslaw as a side? Swapping it for a different side is an up charge too! Location Isolated and all the way on the north side of Charlotte. Unless you live on that side of town visiting this restaurant becomes an over 30 minute drive. Bottom line is that I will visit again if I'm on that side of Charlotte but would not make a special drive from southwest Charlotte so probably won't be returning. read more

My husband always gave Harbor Inn high prasies, which I also found to be better than Captain's Steve. However, this time, both of our meals were terrible. I had shrimp, which had no taste, the okra was just fried; may I assume, that the batter used, had no seasoning added?
