I've been to this place once before and had a decent experience. Last night, I had a really bad experience and after waking up this morning, I realize has injured my shoulder. The "therapist" worked very fast, was extremely rough with my body throughout the experience (I get it it's Chinese massage, it pushes limits -- I've had many) but this guy was what I would classify as CARELESS and AGGRESSIVE as he took my wrists and yanked my arms behind my back, I think tearing something in my shoulder. I got the sense that he was angry, as odd as that sounds throughout my massage. As I think about my experience, I'd caution anyone from considering this massage place. read more

What have I been missing? Was this some secret society thing someone failed to mention? After a long day of retail therapy and a long week on my feet, I stumbled on to this shining star. 1hour of massage for 35 dollars! What?! This is a busy yet tranquil hot spot. Upon entering, we were ushered to our tables. While you remain clothed, they cover you with a heavy towel to keep you warm. After you remove your shoes and socks, they get right to work. Please keep in mind you are in a room with others. Much like a pedicure area. I would suggest you wear something loose and casual. I can't put into words how thorough this massage was. Quite music played as I slipped into a light sleep. As usual, when it was over , I was left wanting more. Upon checkout, I hurriedly purchased two gift certificates for my assistants as a Valentines gift. Everyone should check this place out. It's totally worth the 35bucks!!! read more

I feel I need to break this experience down for people in order to help manage expectations. If you are looking for a foot spa, foot rub only type place, Sole Therapy is not for you. If you are easily embarrassed, just move on. If you're sensitive in any way, using any definition of the word "sensitive," keep on movin'. If you expect to nap at all during the massage, I chuckle. So, stop reading this review and make your way to YaYa Foot Spa..... I give them 5 stars. Sole Therapy is a full body "massage" unlike anything I have ever experienced. I want to first give the ladies a little advice, don't wear a bra and I suggest a tank top. Trust me; it makes what is still awkward, less awkward. I also suggest removing all jewelry (rings, necklace, bracelets, earrings, etc.,) a loose pony tail and shaving your arm pits. So this is how it all works: you walk in and are directed to what looks like a Lazy-Boy reclined all the way back to a flat position and an ottoman. You lie down on the "bed" leaving your feet on the floor... A clean white towel is laid over the top of your body, then your feet are quickly placed into a tub of warm water for a nice soaking. While your feet soak, your masseuse gives you a head, neck, shoulder and upper back massage. This is where the no bra and tank top comes in handy. You're on your back while this part of the massage happens. Your guy has to work his hands down the back of your shirt to reach your upper back. This is a type of acupressure massage not some type of weird shortcut. If you're not wearing a bra, 1) you won't be poked by your bra clasp and 2) your guy won't have to navigate around the straps. With this massage there is some tugging, pulling and stretching. If you're surprised at this point, just wait, it gets better. Once the head, neck, etc. massage is over, you will stay on your back and a washcloth is placed over your eyes. Sole therapy begins..... If you want to snooze, this is your last chance. Enjoy it. The last third of the massage is face down. Here you realize you're not laying on just any Lazy-Boy, it's really a snazzy massage table. When you flip over to your belly, you'll see there is actually one of those massage table face holes. You will not suffocate and die, bra-less at Sole Therapy. I mentioned above there's some tugging and pulling. It goes into high gear now. Once flipped over, there is massage however it's the kind where they massage a little then turn you on your side to stretch and crack your back. Flip you back to your stomach, rub on you and then try to get your toes to touch the back of your head. Or straddle you while stretching your back in some other way..... I want to note here, I am someone with a bad lower back and only once did it start to bother me. That was the very beginning when I was on my back soaking my feet. I needed to put a rolled up towel under my back for support. The last bit of massage ends with head, neck and shoulders again. This is when I wish I'd had my hair in a pony. This is also where you and your masseuse catch your breath. I will say, I just had to have a sense of humor and not take myself too seriously during the whole massage. There were indeed some laughable moments. I have to say I loved the whole thing and will definitely be back. I was a 7 p.m. walk-in, greeted quickly and immediately shown to my table. The guy that worked on me worked fast (he could have slowed down but he was young and gung ho)and intent on doing his best. He was literally out of breath at the end, bless his heart. I'll try someone else next time, just to get another feel for the place but if luck of the draw has me with the same guy, I'm fine with that. Though I felt like I went through calisthenics, the rubbing, twisting and stretching was a great combo and I drove home feeling great. I have passed Sole Therapy several times and thought it looked a little sketch but one if my friends convinced me to try it. I was extremely skeptical but the entire 60 minutes were pure bliss and relaxation. It is comparable to a massage but they press on your pressure points and spend 10 mins on your upper body, 25 mins in your feet and 25 mins on your back. The entire 60 mins is only $35! I love every min and think it's more relaxing then any massage I have had. I go at least once a week. I highly recommend this place! read more

I love this place! For the price, $35 for an hour full body deep tissue massage it's as good as it gets! I used to go to places exactly like this one in Los Angeles and always wished I lived near one. I haven't tried any of the other services, only the hour chair massage and it's great. To start do not come here if you're looking for the personal one on one massage where you take your clothes off. This place is one room with about 10 large oversize arm chairs with ottomans. However, it is not weird and it's still very quiet, relaxing music, sometimes there's a wait depending on the time of day and if it's a weekend, but it's worth the wait! Wear comfortable clothes and if you're a girl don't have your hair done, as they massage your head as well. It starts with soaking your feet in a bucket of warm/hot water as they start on your head, forehead, neck/shoulders and arms. Then they focus the reflexology part of the massage on your feet, then legs and flip over to massage the back and neck again. Do not come here if you don't like deep tissue massages, because as some of my more sensitive friends have said, for a massage they kind of "beat you up". You will also not like it here if you want to be able to speak with your massage therapist, as only a few of the employees speak more than a few words of english. $35 for an hour massage. Clearly you do get what you pay for. This is not some elegant spa. You share the room with the other patrons, keep your clothes on, and do have to listen to others checkout as you get your massage. This location the staff seemed to talk to each other significantly more than other places. At times I felt like my therapist was paying more attention to her conversations than my massage. At the beginning, they disappeared for about 5 minutes to go get the hot water for our feet. In the middle they disappeared again for 3-4 minutes to dump the water out and get hot towels. They also stopped 5 minutes early. I understand having to go get things but I have been to places where they are gone for a minute not 5 minutes each time. I think we actually lost close to 15 minutes of massage time. See my review for Foot Therapy just a mile down the road. Some tips I've learned over the years going to similar Asian massage places: The receptionist speaks the best English, so if you have concerns or problem areas, tell him or her so they can relay it your therapist. Also it is easier to tell them to use harder pressure than to say lighter pressure. I usually ask for medium firm and then tell them to increase pressure if they are doing it too lightly. Wear something like yoga pants or capris, and a tank top. They use lotion some at this location so if you want them to use lotion on your shoulders wear something that permits doing so. I say wear pants or capris because they do sometimes stretch your legs in ways that you might wish you did not have shorts on. Guys longer shorts or sweatpants are good. I imagine it would not be weird to take your shirt off for the massage. Years ago one of the therapists at one of the Asian massage places I went to told me that they do not get the credit card tips dollar for dollar like they might get the cash tip. (Not implying they have to pay taxes on CC tips and not cash, but that the owner would take a share of the tip) Another told me that if you handed the cash tip to the receptionist they did not always get it either. Places like this are great for my budget but I like to remind myself that a person just worked very hard for an hour and only got $35, when let's face it, most massages are 100+ for an hour. I can't imagine how tiring it must be doing this all day--and how little they actually get from the $35. With that said, I try to always tip at least $10 in cash, and directly hand it to my massage therapist. I never know if a place is good about getting the whole tip to the therapist so I just try to eliminate the guess work and give it directly to them. Entrance and interior leave a lot to be desired but for the price and service you can close your eyes and pretend you are in Cambodia or wherever floats your boat. I had the hour foot massage-while they soak your feet they do a pressure point head and neck massage and then arms/hands and the majority of the hour is spent on your feet and legs. I had a strong woman. Music in background-I was only customer there--you are in one room with about 6 loungers--like a nail salon enviroment but not bright. Probably better at night when they have candles. Again--the exterior and interior are not great at all--I drove by like 3 times for weeks before going in. Not for the faint at heart! If you go to this place just go and let them do their thing...the 1 hour massage. If you try to ask for anything else or custom they will not understand you and just do what they are programmed to do. English is not their native language so don't go expecting conversation. As others have said it is an open, public room. No big deal and no one seems bothered by the lack of privacy. After the foot massage, which is not really my thing but I put up with it, they turn you over and go to work on your back. While the man was massaging me with his elbow and crushing down on my spine to the point of snapping my neck I wondered if they'd be able to get a hold of my husband once they discovered I had asphyxiated on the table. After that he started in on my back with what felt like a baseball bat. But okay, I got through the pain and felt not too bad when he was done. Kind of wuzzy but my muscles were definitely loose. Having survived that first experience and a sucker for a good deal I went back a second time. The next masseuse was even more brutal than the first. As I grunted through the massage he kept whispering in my ear that it was going to be okay and to relax. Yeah, buddy, you relax when you have an elbow being driven through your back like a corkscrew. Also, if you have breast implants I would not recommend you get a massage here because they'll probably burst from the vise-like pressure when you're being smashed chest down into the table. It's not that I hate this place, I'm just scared to go back. And I think I prefer the more nuanced, thoughtful massage than the pummeling approach. read more

Not bad. Not great. If I had half stars at my disposal, I would aware Sole Therapy a solid 3.5 stars. As others have stated, this is a strip mall, clothes-on, Chinese massage parlor. They specialize in Chinese foot massage/reflexology. Massages take place in a public room, but hello, who cares? The other patrons are too busy zenning out to pay you any attention. On this visit, I tried the $35 hour long session. The good: I arrived as a walk-in, and I experienced no wait. My masseuse got down to business like IMMEDIATELY. I was laying on the reclining massage chair within ten seconds of stepping through the front door. The lights were dim, and Chinese elevator music filled the air. Every time the masseuse needed to communicate something to me, he softly whispered his instructions to avoid disturbing other patrons. Here's a play-by-play of the experience: The massage starts out with a 20 minute foot soak in a bucket of warm water. I noticed that the bucket was lined with a disposable plastic liner. Well played. While you are soaking, the masseuse executes a vigorous pressure point massage, focusing on the scalp, face, neck, shoulder, arms, and hands. Once your foot soak is over, the attention is turned over to your footsies for approximately 20 minutes. At some point, you are asked to flip over, and your shoulders, back, buttocks (oh my), and calves receive some attention. My masseuse was tireless, and used a great deal of pressure. There were elbows involved. Ouch...good ouch? The bad: Their phone rings frequently, and loudly. While the masseurs were careful to whisper and maintain a peaceful environment in the massage area, the female employee who was in charge of answering the phone and checking out customers was not. She answered the phone LOUDLY, and, well...you know how sometimes when someone doesn't speak a language very well they get louder and louder when they try to communicate something? Yeah, not relaxing. Ghetto apartment people screaming at each other in the parking lot? Not relaxing. Some of my masseuse's "moves" were so-so for me. I had moments where I wasn't feeling it. Thankfully, they were sandwiched in between moments of redemption. Try as he might, my masseuse was unable to work out the knots in my shoulders and back. He definitely gave it his all. I don't completely fault him for this, as I have yet to have an experience that didn't leave something to be desired in that area. I have some gnarly knots, but I digress. I am 12 hours out from my massage, and I am feeling oddly sore in various places (calves, shoulder blades). I have never had this experience before. Not sure whether this is considered normal. Finally, the last thing I didn't love was the fact that my masseuse hovered over me and watched as I was writing his tip on the credit card slip. This resulted in me tipping more than I had actually intended (my fault). I know this might be a cultural breakdown, but this is a pet peeve for me. Conclusively, I think this is a classic example of "you get what you pay for". If you go in expecting a $35 strip mall massage, as opposed to a spa-quality massage that just so happens to be $35, I think you will be content. I'm undecided as to whether I will return or not- I don't have imminent plans to do so (I debated trashing the "loyalty card", immediately having the thought, "I will NEVER make it to 9 visits), but you never can tell. read more

You can book your appointment over the phone or walk in. If you want a massage on the weekend I would book it over the phone or come in and talk to them. Its kinda of hard to understand them but when you get your massage you will forget about all that. You can usually walk in and get a massage on weekday. I will caveat this review by saying that my husband, who was with me, absolutely loved his massage. However this kind of massage experience is not for me. I wish I'd read the reviews completely before going, but we'd decided on the spur of the moment to have reflexology done, and I just looked up the nearest establishment with good reviews and availability. I had opted for a 1 hour reflexology appointment but what I ended up getting was a clothed, FULL BODY, pretty deep tissue massage!! Also, because communication is not that easy, there is not much of a chance to give feedback about the pressure levels or anything else. Additionally, having opted for a 1 hour reflexology session I thought that most of the time would be spent on the feet but it was not the case. The work that was done on my feet felt more like a foot rub. (The one other reflexology experience I've had was not like this.) Overall, I think for the cost it's not bad if you like really deep pressure. However, I didn't find the experience comfortable so I'll be sticking to my regular massage place. read more

So one of my new curiosities in life is these Chinese foot/body massage places around Dallas, because they all seem to be priced at $30-45 an hour (depending on what you get done) and they aren't afraid to knock the complete breath out of you while doing karate moves on your back. Okay, not literally... but you get the point! I was a little far from work to drive all the way up to Happy Foot (my favorite little steam-rolling massage joint in Richardson), so I decided to try out Sole Therapy instead. The prices were what I expected... $30 for a one hour foot massage and $45 for an hour full-body massage. Being super ticklish, I opted (as usual) for them to skip over my feet and just focus on my back/shoulders. The guy who massaged me was super nice, and the massage was okay... I mean for $45, who can really complain. I have to admit that I kept waiting on him to apply a deeper, more focused pressure on my back (I told him I was not fragile at all and that the area between my shoulder blades had been killing me the past 3 days), but he just never quite got there for me. His massage technique wasn't what I was hoping for and the pressure was way lighter than my knots needed. I wanted him to dip into those nooks and crannies around my spine that would have really hit the spot, but unfortunately it just didn't happen. Next time, I will probably venture back up to Happy Foot when I need a good beating on my back... But I'm not opposed to giving this place another shot in the future with a different massage therapist. I am giving this place 5 starts not because it competes with a 5 Star Spa or anything, but because within the niche that it targets, this place is top notch & stands above the rest. Super convenient location right off Hwy 75, plenty of parking, nice & clean inside and the staff was very polite to me.I had no appointment & was able to walk right in. I came here on a break in between appointments in the area. Just needed a quick foot massage & it was really really good. It seems the majority of the therapists were men, which I don't mind as you are fully clothed and I like the pressure of a man's hands to really get those kinks out. Prices are very good for what you get here & they gave me a punch card to come back and work my way to a free massage. I can't wait to return. read more

My husband and I tried this place last night. I travel to China frequently for business so I've been to this type of massage place before! I thought I'd try it out and Dallas and see how it compares to the real deal in China. It is pretty much the same! You have to go in knowing that this is not a massage at the Spa. It is intense- and at some points you do have to tell them if they are being too intense. BUT- my husband loved it and it was his first time. I enjoyed it also, although there were a few points on back back that I had to tell them to be easy. This is traditionally Chinese. That said- the price is good. $35 for 60 minutes- you can't be that! Give it a try and see if it is for you! read more

Amazing experience. I go 2x a month. Wear comfortable clothes (ladies, go braless, trust me). I wear yoga pants and a tank top, no bra. Leave your hair down, let them get in there! I get a 1 hour whole body massage. They will quietly ask you "soft, medium, hard?". I always say "hard", they always respond, "tell me if it's too much". Like others have said, there is nothing private about this experience, you are rushed into a room and sat down on a table among everyone else (they do ask if you need to use the washroom first, go!). They soak your feet while you get the upper body massage, then work from the feet back up. You will hear noises.....slapping, moaning (no, it's not a happy ending...it's just the guy next to you). I want to add that it's ONLY $35!!!!! But honestly, who cares, this is a GREAT full body massage. The guys (I'm pretty sure it's all men, I've never seen a female...but it's dark) really know what they are doing. read more

My wife and I get massages on a weekly basis. We like a variety of massages including foot massages, back massages, thai massages, etc. We had heard good things about Sole Therapy so we decided to give it a try. We ordered a combination massage (which included back massage and foot massage). The massage experience itself was good. So, I gladly paid for the massage. However, the overall experience was terrible. The two massage providers who did my wife and I talked during the whole massage. Then to top it off two different managers came in during our session and just kept talking loudly to our providers. Finally, I had enough and I took off my eye cover and said "Seriously... What the f&*k? Can't you guy just shut the fu@k up and give us massages?" After that the manager left and the providers were a little bit more respectful. However, then one of the female staff members phone kept ringing, and ringing and ringing. Even when she would answer it... it would just keep ringing and ringing. I think he rang a total of 5 times during our session. I don't understand why these people don't understand that we are paying for more than just the massage. We are paying for the experience and the ambiance that goes along with it. We want to be able to relax and rest our minds while our bodies are relaxing. But when you have to lay there and try to figure out what the fu@k they are saying in vietnamese or thai or whatever the fu@k they are speaking just drives us nuts. It would be different if they were speaking the native language of the United States (where they work!). At least we would know what the fu@k they were saying and could actually determine if they are actually being rude or just pretending to be rude. So, if you want a real massage with real ambiance and a total relaxing experience... this is obviously not the place to go (at least on the night that we went). As a result, I paid for our massage (mainly because I didn't want to short change my wife) but I gave the $0.00 in tip... and I told them why I didn't give them any tip. read more

These types of places are so cost effective for a long massage with absolutely no frills - 90 minutes for a full body massage for $55! Yaassss! Downsides that make this place 3 Stars - extremely crowded, noisy and lacking some sanitation. It was so busy Friday night (9/8 @ 9PM) that people were literally waiting in the waiting area to hope that appointments would be broken to get their spot! The massage was great and very deep tissue. I motioned to the "therapist" that my right shoulder was hurting me and he definitely worked out whatever it was that was causing all sorts of tightness. My back and shoulders feel like they've bounced back to health. The unsanitary part in all this was at the very end...as I was putting on my glasses and flip flops, I noticed the "therapist" shake off the towels I had used and laid the same pillow cover and larger bed towel back on the massage bed ready for the next person and folded the face towel pretty perfectly as well. I just hope that since it was 30 minutes to closing this was just a "one off". read more

Ummm awesome. My husband and I randomly found this on here, saw they were open late, so we called and made appointment for half hour later. We were just expecting awesome foot massages, but it was sooooo better than we thought!!! Turned out to be a full body massage, with extra time on the feet. Arms, neck, back, butt, everything!!
