When I first made an appointment with Marisa, I was hesitant and very nervous because I had never used natural hair dyes before. I had done everything you can think of to my hair and it was in poor shape. My natural brunette color had grown out, the middle portion of my hair was a muddied reddish tint and the ends were disastrous. I was hopeful but very unsure about natural products working with my over-processed hair. As soon as Marisa had me in her chair, I knew I was in good hands. She explained everything to me and stepped me through what she thought would work best for my request. At this point I simply wanted to blend the rest of my hair with my roots so I could let it grow out naturally and let it get more healthy. The first attempt was beautiful and exactly what I wanted. After a week, I had washed it a couple times and it had already begun fading. BEFORE I even had a chance to call the salon, Marisa had already followed up with me through text asking how the color was working. She booked an appointment with me right away to fix the issue, quickly corrected the color (at no charge) and it has now been months of constant compliments and matching hair! Not only is Marisa an excellent stylist, she is an excellent communicator, making for good conversation in the chair and consistent check-ins after appointments. I highly, highly recommend her. Oh, and though Marisa never pushed product like some stylists do, I was so impressed with the leave-in conditioner that she used in my hair that I got a bottle to take home. I came in to see Marisa after some other stylist bleached my hair. The other stylist bleached my virgin hair and then dyed the top part darker, which created a line through my hair. It also turned a little orange. I was desperate for someone to fix it and knew Marisa could help me with it. She did an amazing job and fixed the line in my hair which was bleached, she blended it beautifully. I am so happy with the color of my hair and will definitely keep going back to Marisa. I started a "no poo" hair care routine almost a year ago, which means I wash my hair with all natural ingredients (baking soda/water mixture for "shampoo" and an apple cider vinegar/water mixture for a "conditioner" rinse) or a shampoo with organic/raw ingredients. My hair has become so much healthier since I made the change, so I wanted to find a salon that used organic or at least, products without parabens/sulfates/silicone. After some searching I dug up Soleil Salon on Yelp. Carla and Marisa carry both certified organic and standard professional hair care products. Their organic line is Intelligent Nutrients, as stated on their website. This is what initially interested me in coming, and I'm so glad I did - I was SO pleased with my experience. I called after I got out of work to ask if I could walk in / whether they had time for me to drop in before they closed, and Carla graciously made an appointment for less than an hour later. Carla was very efficient and did a great job with my cut. It was relatively simple as far as cuts go (blunt layers, chopped off about 10 inches of hair), but she had great hands during the shampoo, blowout, and cutting process. She achieved a modern/hip look with my hair with very little effort. I would definitely come back here. Parking can be an issue in this part of Los Gatos and the cut was on the pricier side. Still, being able to continue my lifestyle choice of staying organic with my hair care products is definitely worth the extra cost to me. I am glad that Soleil offers the option for organic, and I'm surprised that there are not many salons locally that do this, considering the area. I would definitely recommend Soleil! However, after my visit with Marisa last Monday, I am compelled to broadcast my delight and sing her praises. I've had a couple superb hairstylists and colorists over the years, but Marisa has proven to be the best by far for me. As others have stated, she is highly skilled in dealing with the texture, length, hair growth patterns, and natural color of my hair while working to complement my skin color, lifestyle, face shape, age, and preferences. She's excellent. Her work highlights and accentuates my attributes and downplays problem areas. Marisa listens intently,and offers her suggestions and expertise, giving the pros and cons of treatments and styles. Her goal is to make you feel stunning and capable of caring for and styling your hair on a day-to-day basis. Her salon is calm, quiet, and beautiful and a quick exit off the freeway. She's never juggled multiple people at once nor have I had to ever wait. She communicates via text to confirm appointments and is very flexible (comes in early if needed). She does the whole enchilada (washing, conditioning, coloring, cutting, styling) and she is easy to talk with - open, positive, professional, interesting. The coffee is always excellent, she brings in homemade (I think?) bisotti, and she is open to work around mobile devices or computers for working. I like to be there to relax and catch up on the latest entertainment or decorating news, but it's nice that I can call in for a meeting or follow up on an email without any issue.
