The dress was much too long and needed to be taken in at the bust. Both the drop off and pick up appointments were very quick, and he was very exact with what adjustments were needed. Juan was a godsend to us. My fiance needed a last minute alteration on her bridal wear and we we landing from Canada on Sunday for a Monday wedding. Everyone was closed and others didn't offer to make same day alterations. Juan was so kind when I called him and explained pur situation and he offered to help. I drove straight from the airport in the afternoon and we were at Juan's store around 3.30 PM. My fiance showed the alterations she needed and Juan promised to get it all done for us the same day. His store closes at 5 PM but he promised us that he'll work late if need be to help us on our big day. It was truly the most incredible thing ever. He did an impeccable job in hardly any time and fixed it all for us and messaged us to come pick it up. My fiance loved it and it was truly such a huge relief. Warning! Unprofessional, inappropriate and sexist man. I took my beautiful Parisian designer dress to Juan to have it slightly tailored to my preferences. My request: shorten the hem and line the lace bodice with material so it's not see-through. Upon my arrival I was completely confused as to who Juan was. There was a man reclined back on a sofa with his arm behind his neck relaxing watching the TV. He casually glanced over at me and did not greet nor acknowledge me - surely this couldn't be how a professional treats clients so I said a quick hello and glanced around the tiny shop hoping for the tailor to emerge. It was indeed Juan. And in the 20 minutes that I stayed in his uncomfortable-making presence, he remained in that position, on his sofa. He never stood to greet me or even look at my fabric or "fit" me. I brushed it off hoping for the best and put the dress on so we could start the process. I came out and stood in front of the mirror fluffing my dress and trying to engage with him - Juan didn't budge from the sofa. He scoffs at me "hmmmft, why would one buy a dress and want to alter it." Hmm... isn't that why he is employed?! Then he made inappropriate comments on why I was shortening the hem and begged me not to saying "oh you feel you need to show off your legs to get compliments". He then went on to ask "why do you choose such a provocative dress?" - so bizarre and inappropriate. I stupidly stayed for another 10 minutes listening to him flip flop between saying he can do it and mumbling shaming comments. I finally realized I needed to get out of there! I quickly changed wondering if he was mentally stable and if I could be in any kind of danger. On Tuesday, first thing in the morning, I went to one place but they couldn't get it done in the timeframe, and then found 2 other places in the area had since closed. Do NOT recommend Juan M Solis Tailors - total scam. In my 40 years of bringing clothes in for altercation here and there, I've never seen the tailor unhappy that we were discussing how long we should do the lengths for cutting. My son and I brought in suits for altercations, and we discussed how long we should do the lengths for cutting. After he said he can do it, at night he texts my son saying he can't do it because of my interference. Then he also calls my son to get a life, and mocks at us with horrible words. What kind of professional tailor does not like to discuss altercation detail with a customer? and on top of that, calling a customer names all of the sudden? read more

Juan is a master craftsman. I was truly impressed with the speed of the service. I went in the morning wearing an oversized coat. He messaged me after 5 hours, that the coat was ready. The fitting was perfect. He is very kind and does his best to get the exact measurements to create a perfect fit for you. Given the convenient location, the service fee was very reasonable. (A similar tailoring job in Daly City costed me 1.5x more!) The place accepts cards. It is a little tricky to find the place. The unit is 502, which is unfortunately not specified on Yelp or on the website. I dropped by from a friends recommendation. He asked me if I was a student. I said no, but he told me he was too busy for my business. I told him I could wait. I didn't need the job done immediately, since I have 3 months. He told me he's too busy, so I should go elsewhere. Maybe I just look too young and poor? ‍ I'm in my mid 30's, and was trying to recreate a jumpsuit top for my wedding in France this summer. I'm happy to spend a thousand or more to make this jumpsuit (similar to the Rosie Assoulin Artichoke Hearts one) but I guess I don't look the part. Feels like that scene in Pretty Woman haha. And he is so sweet and professional, and super humble. Being on the petite side (I'm 5'3), I have to get a lot of my clothes altered to fit properly. No project is too big or small or Juan - I've gotten pants/jeans hemmed, coats and blazers altered, and dresses and blouses taken in. He is very fast and his prices are extremely reasonable. Juan the tailor is a hidden gem in San Francisco. First off, I'll echo the previous reviews and say that he is incredibly friendly and accommodating. In my case, I was leaving on an international trip in 3 days and desperately needed my dress pants tailored, and most tailors I spoke with couldn't get the job done in time or were charging an arm and a leg. To be fair I had put this off for weeks, but that's another story. Fortunately, I found Juan via Yelp and paid him a visit without an appointment. He was welcoming and gave his honest opinion on what needed to be done, and actually saved me time and money! My dress pants were altered in 24 hours and I was ready to go (and looked great in my suit). And let me add that he suggested using suspenders instead of a belt which was a great suggestion. I asked him to tailor 2 coats: a trench and a sweater wrap coat that was one size only (admittedly two extremely hard things to tailor for someone 5'2") and he knocked it out of the park. He also made me a cute little belt for the wrap coat (completely his idea) out of the extra material!! Btw, he was more excited than I was to show the end product to me, which just shows how much this is his passion. Turn around time was TWO DAYS. Price was extremely reasonable.
